Seems to me that you didn't spend much time searching and reading the forum.
The most direct method to root at this time is the Framaroot apk which you install and then root from your phone. After that, if you want custom firmware, use Mobile Odin lite or Mobile Odin pro to install a custom kernel containing Clockwork Mod Recovery.

hi pls could someone tell me how to get access to 2e recovery as im stuck on 3e recovery ,iv got root access but unable to.install roms im on ,GINGERBREAD,XWKF4 THANK ANY HELP PLS

Find a kernel that containts this 2e recovery and you shall have it.
About flashing your ROMs, use Odin for that, no special recovery required.
isnt 2E is for froyo and 3E is for gingerbread? correct me if im wrong
We have moved on since 2e look for a cwm + root 4 e in the dev section.

I don`t think so. You can install/flash either with cwm (on your phone)or odin ( on your pc). To flash with cwm i guess you already need to be rooted.
so without pc i cant root and not install clockwork?

Ya same question.. Can we root without pc??? Please any solution...

Would be great to root with update.zip like on the ace. Makes a lot easier!

You have to get a foot in the door by flashing cf-root Kernel or a rooted custom rom with Odin.
As soon as cwm is installed on your phone you can flash a lot without Odin.
Maybe you can ask a friend. Flashing a Kernel with Odin takes only seconds.

Wouldn't it be extremely dangerous being able to gain root access so easily via a simple app? Malware authors would rejoice I guess.

There is when superuser comes in

As Sammy devices can - unlike most other Android devices - just be flashed with anything (from a PC running Odin) due to nonlocked bootloaders, no one pulled the effort to look for exploits to gain root as it's simply not needed.
99.9784% chance that (as of yet) you really need a PC and Odin to root.
I dont know what i am doing wrong, i used the chainfire root method and used odin and flashed the cwm to my S3, but when it rebooted it did it normally but no superuser or busybox was installed...
I have booted into the recovery, and see that it is CWM, but why do i not have root access???
Thanks in advance.

The toolkit is a really well written and easy to use application, it gives you all the information and plenty of choices, and takes 5mins to root I really recommend it!

Hi
First time, rooting my android, and I am following this guide on galaxys3root.com on how to root a s3 on osx
I cannot seem to download the GalaxyS3RootMac.zip
A google for the file all points back to the same download location and it seems it's down. I get a nginx webserver error.
Anyone perhaps have the file?
Just download one of the many custom kernels from xda and flash via Odin (or what ever the osx equivalent is).

Use the galaxy s3 toolkit best way for root I think just read it carefully and use the right variant model and update eg 4.1.2 and not earlier very simple

I found the easiest was was to use cf auto root through Odin on windows laptop and then install a recovery using ROM manager from the play store.. And then away ya go! Don't forget to back up before ya change anything

Stickies + YouTube... easy to do it

Rom manager is not such a good idea with the S3. Safer to use mobile odin and Flash a recovery that way.

I didn't realise it wasn't a good idea to use ROM manager with the s3.. Why is that then? I went that way because my laptop is a Macbook and hiemdall didn't seem to work well so I had a quick ten mins on a laptop at work with Odin to root and then I only had my Macbook to use so ROM manager is the way I went too manager seems to be the same thing as well

From experience I can say that using ROM Manager can soft brick your device. I once wanted to use it with my old S2 to install CWM and I got into a bootloop afterwards. Only re-flashing a Samsung ROM via Odin helped to boot into Android.
One of the easiest way (in my opinion) to root your device is to flash a Kernel via Odin that will give you Root. The Siyah Kernel is a good place to start, since the developer also provides tar files for odin to flash. It will give you Root and from then on you can install Stweaks and flash CWM from there.
I wish i d of spoke to u a few months ago when I first rooted cause I buggered about with it for weeks! I didn't realise you could install recovery from steaks either.. Have you got much apple Mac/android sync experience?.. I can only describe it as trying to get arch rivals to mate!.. Might just dual boot windows on the Macbook if I can't get them to play nice
