Well if you want to flash a official stock rom then you can only find them on sammobile.com and only way to flash it from odin. After that you can use Philz to install CWM if you want.
Hope it helps

There are also some that you can flash via CWM. If you are rooted.

[Q] Reroot S2!

Hey!
I rooted my friends S2 alooong time ago, it's on Android 2.3 with Cyanogenmod.
Now he's starting to have problems, it says that the harddrive is full, but it isn't. And now it won't boot up anymore.
I'm going to reroot it, how am I going to do? It already got fully working recovery, but it's old.
I got some questions:
*He's stuck on booting logo, can I just flash an 4.1.2 ROM over the 2.3 Cyanogenmod ROM? Will something happen?
*Do I need to update the recovery? How? As I can recall, rooting the S2 was a huge problem for me. I didn't have the same problem when rooting my S3.
Thanks in advance,
Sebastian

What do you want to do?
Update to JB 4.1.2 (XXLSJ)?
Then flash stock XXLSJ ROM, or (like me) XXLSJ NeatROM Lite v4.0, which is modified stock ROM (removed bloatware and some nice mods added).
NeatROM is already rooted, so no need to root manually.
Here is the NeatROM thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569686
I recommend to do the full-wipe install as described in the thread.
You only need CWM recovery for flashing the ROM zip file.
If you want the stock ROM (flashable as tar file with Odin) and manual rooting, then use PhilZ-cwm6 kernel v3.65 for XXLSJ from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
Just download kernel zip file and flash it in stock recovery (after flashing the stock XXLSJ ROM).
Good luck !

Well, I'm wondering if I just could flash latest Paranoid ontop of the 2.3 Cyanogenmod, would that be possible? And do I need to flash over Odin, or can I just put everything on my SD card and flash via recovery?

HELP installing custom rom please

Hey all.
After reading about the brickbug and failing the eMMC test, im a little confused as to the safest way to root and install a custom rom.
I am currently runnning ICS 4.0.3 with I9100TDULPB kernel on an aussie vodafone branded device.
Do i simply use odin to flash a stock samsung JB ROM, then flash Philz or Siyah JB kernel for root+cwm, then custom rom install via cwm?
I would also like to retain the option of flashing my carrier stock image incase of warranty purposes.
Cheers

Exactly !
PD: Remember to follow the installation instructions on the rom thread, otherwise u'll end in nasty bootloops
Thanks for the quick reply
So this will ultimately allow me to odin flash back to the stock ICS Vodafone Branded ROM later down the track?
Cheers.

[Q] Rooted S2 but no CWM?

Hi,
This international S2 came out of the box running a stock ICS 4.0.3 and appears to have root access, also has "SuperSU", however it has the stock recovery mode.
I'm interested in replacing the stock recovery mode with CWM so that I can install custom ROMs but my device is already rooted and I'm quite confused about this, should I just go ahead and flash a CWM kernel?
And also,
Do I have to match the kernel to the ROM that I'm going to flash (AOSP, AOKP, XXLSJ)?
Thanks.
Just flash Siyah, Dorimanx,... with Odin.
And yes some Roms doen't work with some Kernel. For example I had problems with Siyah and CM10.1

just flash the Siyah kernel v4.1.5 or v5.0.1(tar file for ODIN) using 'ODIN' on ur PC to get proper wrk'ng CWM app installed on ur phone
Then use Siyah's recovery to flash any custom rom of ur choice

i9100 Rooted but no CWM

Hello everyone, greeting from Turkey!
First of all im a newbie for android rooting and romming etc. I ve always used stock roms since ive got this phone. Now Im running a I9100 (int.) with stock Turkish 4.1.2 (XXLS8) on it and i ve rooted it via superuser.zip with my stock recovery.
What i want to do is to install CWM and want to flash a RELIABLE and Long Battery life rom. Are there anyways for me to install a CWM without using odin (via stock recovery). And can you please suggest me a good rom for daily usage. (i want to use vanilla android btw [just like nexus]).
Thank you for your helps.
I don't know much about roms/kernels for the international version, but you will need to flash a stock kernel with cwm and then just choose a rom from your development thread and follow the instructions, don't forget making backups and reading a lot, you can start from flashing cyanogenmod.

As i said i dont know about international version kernels, but it should have a tag like "stock kernel" or something like that if its for stock, just install it and you will have cwm, if its not stock it wont be installed anyway.

You can flash a kernel for stock roms via stock recovery, you don't need to use odin, just read the instructions.
