Ok so i got this phone with jelly bean already instead and my sd card worked and i could see the files.. I couldnt get the bootloader to unlock on tmobile or eur jelly bean versions so i give up and decided to try ICS since Volume+ work on Android 4.0.. Now after flashing the ics kdz i have notice my sd card is not appearing.. i can see the scanning icon on top of screen.. than it says sd card safe to remove but i cant find it.. also under settings/storage it doesnt show my sd card storage info.. i tried the card in my pc and tablet and i can see and use it but not on my L9 .. is this a problem with ICS or am I doing something wrong.. ? My SD card is in FAT32..16gb
same thing by me yesterday - I was on JB, then restore my ICS backup via CWM, boot and it says prepairing SD, SD safe to remove... i tried formatting the card but nothing. My phone was 2 times on ics (when i bought it and when i flashed KDZ) and the card worked, so I think downgrading via CWM may be the cause of one of the mod's i flashed via it. I will flash the KDZ again and let you know if it was succesfoul
[ p768, Kingston 16GB class10 ]
EDIT flasing a kdz solved the problem for me
I flashed back jelly bean and the sd card shows up.. went back to ics and now it's gone again.. guess i'll stick with jelly bean

If you format your SD card for ICS when you upgrade to JB you will not be able to access it. If you format your SD card for JB when you downgrade to ICS you will not be able to access it. Happened to all of us.
A hard reset fixed the sd card issue

i have an optimu st with mikes cm7 and francos kernal.. everythime i have my sd card in the phone it restarts randomly.. and when i dont have it in it works fine.. is there anything i can do to fix this?

nvm its the phone.. it randomly shuts off without the sd card? and ideas?
what kernel do you have? if there is a stable version of it, go flash it
do you have any form of __2SD installed?
try formatting ur sd card with panasonic sd fromatter, put it in swtich off phone and switch on .
if not try a fresh install keeping the sd in phn if it doesnt ,try another sd
So here's my situation. I have s-off via wire trick/controlbear program, running amon ra recovery and I did use a sacrificial sd card in the process. I've tried probably 5 different ics roms and the only thing that doesn't work is the sd card. It doesn't give a notification in the top bar but only when I attempt to browse the card through a file manager or gallery then it either says "sd card unmounted" or "please insert sd card". I've wiped everything and formatted it 10 ways from Sunday through windows and the recovery menu but it still isn't recognized. I even tried a few other sd cards I have laying around that I know for sure have been untouched from the rooting process and they do not work either. On the other hand, whenever I revert back to Gingerbread whether it be stock RUU or Rom the sd card works just fine so that makes me think there's nothing wrong with the card it's just not working in ics for some reason. I've done all I can do to the extant of my knowledge to fix it so any other suggestions would be very much appreciated!!! thanks
Additional info, I don't know if it makes a difference or not but when I did the s-off procedure I didn't flash the custom hboot. The hboot is still on 2.11.0000
Did you go into settings > Storage and try mounting the sd card manually, thats what i have to do after reboots.

Yeah I've tried that still no cigar
You need the "old firmware patch" because you have gingerbread firmware and the mount points are different for the sd card on ics.

In order to avoid this problem I would recommend following the instructions contained in the second post here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1603917
This will upgrade your firmware to the current leak which will make it unnecessary to flash the old firmware patch, the reason your SD card won't mount is because you are on the old firmware and haven't flashed the patch.

I'm having the same problem. Have you figured out what was causing the problems?
I'm not too sure, but being unable to detect the external sd card is a common issue amongst most aokp ROMs I've used.
As for your internal memory being used up, I had the same doubt and then realised it was mainly because of my backups. Each one was ~900Mb so that ate up most of my internal memory. Delete any redundant backups from the clockworkmod folder if thats your problem

Installing a secondary ROM takes up about 2GB of your internal memory, if that's what you're talking about. Anything more than that could be your backups..or something I'm not aware of.

Just to update my original post...
I appeared to lose my internal SD when I upgraded to CM9 RC2. Didn't bother me since I had external SD still.
When I updated to a CM10 nightly, I lost my external SD card as well.
The way that i fixed it was by going back to CM9 RC1. When I loaded that ROM the media scanner informed me that the SD cards were corrupt and reformatted it from me. After that I reinstalled CM10 and it recognises both
I had reformatted my ext. SD card using my computer before, but that hadn't fixed the problem. It would seem that my media scanner (in CM10) wasn't recognising the ext. SD or the internal and thus not reformatting it....
Not sure if this helps, I'm not as versed in the workings of android as many people are on here... What I did above fixed my problem though, so perhaps it might be of help to someone else.
Check out the thread for your rom. Some one else before you, has probably already asked about your problem and got an answer

Okay, so I'm currently on the SnowJB ROM and that ROM can access my SD card. But I want to go back to the Nocturnal ROM(I'm kind of torn between the two ROMS). Only problem is Nocturnal cannot mount the SD card. I tried both version 1.5 and 1.3 and neither of them work. I went into the settings and clicked "Mount SD card" but I get a notification telling me that it's safe to remove my SD care(Unmounted)
And I also tried to install the Slick ROM and that couldn't read the SD card either. So I restored my SnowJB ROM and it can read it. So I'm totally clueless on this. SnowJB is the only ROM that can mount the SD card... Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Any help at all would be much appreciated.
How is it formatted? Did you format it in the snowjb ROM?

I don't remember doing anything to it while I was on SnowJB. It just... Worked. It was formatted in the FAT32 format. Now formatting it using exFAT. Doubt it'll work, but it's worth the shot. Just got done trying the Stock AT&T rom(with root) and that wouldn't recognize the SD card either.

Fixed it... It was a pain though. Had to use the LGNPST thing to return my phone to factory settings(no root/locked bootloader) then had to re-root.
Hi,
After I restart my phone, actually it restarts sometimes automatically but don't get me there, I lose access to my SD card and have to remove and re-instert it to get it working again.
So I was wondering if it's the SD card's fault, the phone's hardware or the Android 4 and I upgraded from 2.3.6?
Thanks.

your sd card isn't remounting it self most probably a rom fault or something preventing it from auto mounting
Thanks, how can I fix it? I'm on a stock ROM, htc's 4.0.4.

You should probably just flash a RUU, you will need to lock your boot loader again if it's unlocked. Once it downloads, rename it PH85IMG and put it on the root of the external SD card (not in any folder). Its the micro sd, Not the phone storage! If you have no micro SD, you'll need to buy one.
If the RUU doesn't fix it, copy your SD card files to your computer and format the sd card in 4ext, maybe your SD is acting up instead of the ROM.
Don't forget to hit thanks if I helped you, or if someone else helped you!
