[DEV]CM 10.1 xperia x8 development - XPERIA X8 Android Development

Hey xperia x8 users and devs,
I try to build a clean CM 10.1 on my PC
The CM 7/9/10 development thread seems a bit overloaded and I want to collect all neccessary facts, when I try to build CM 10.1.
What will be needed here?
- Manifest files for build a clean repository (which devicetree, display libs ...)
- Which patches were used?
- Kernel configs and additional kernel driver
What will be the aim?
- Get a functional CM 10.1 on xperia x8 with most of the hardware features
Builds for testing pruposes will be posted here in this dev thread.
This thread is aimed for development purposes not for whishes like "Can you make feature xyz working?". It is the main task to get most of the things on xperia x8 working like cam, camcorder, Bluetooth, GPS, WIFI , SD-CARD.

Some time ago, was trying to port the 2.6.39 kernel from ZTE for android 4.2
Compiled but could not boot, and t MSM shakira/delta board fully ported into kernel
something was missing.
and to make a compilation of 4.2.2 need legacy libraries for old binaries
and build using miniphone and not fullphone in the configs.
u can read from here
https://github.com/androidarmv6
rom boot, but need more power into kernel
So now that you have done?

i'm compiling jb 4.2.2 right now and i have so many error's , but i managed to fix most of them so let's hope.

I don´t know but if this can help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2453085

While we can't see any real contents (source, device config or prebuilt rom for testing) this project is THEORETICAL only, and we can't do more than talking about the NOTHING...
Without any concrete things nobody can help.

go there and see if you can help with something ..
https://github.com/androidarmv6

I saw this project earlier, and Daveee10 opened a discussion about the 4.2 development (it was in the last year).
But you have a working version, why NOT post is?
The users can post feedback, and more member will be join, if they can test it.
As I wrote earlier in pm, I'm not interested in the cm10+ development, especially if need to start it from zero. But I think more easy to make a group what working on one project, if the possible members NOT need to start everything from the beginning.
EDIT: this is not offense, just a suggestion.

Yes, that means, when FM and camera will be fixed, ROM will be updated here. But MSM7227 platform is now too old to be maintained weekly.
You can clearly read it here:

Information about development is here:
FM radio: MSM7227 and most of new 7x30 devices use TI12xx W-LAN chipset.
When FM will be fixed on 7x30, it will be fixed on 7227 too.
Camera: camera takes a lot of time. Sony promised to give binaries compiled for 2.3, but right now they're silent. It's unknown will it be fixed or not. You can take camera libs and apk from GDX if you really want full camera on official CM7.
And a small note: for God's sake, f*ckin' stop with crying smilies in every second thread. XDA admins should remove it, IMO.

[DEV][JB 4.2.1][Alpha 0] CM 10.1 now for PLAY[WIP]

Hi all!
During Christmas holidays I have some time to develop and so I thought to begin this new project. I need of course the help of other developers.
In particular I have a problem. Hardware modules like gralloc, memalloc, hwcomposer, etc don't compile, so I have copied these libs from my old 4.1.2 rom. I don't know why.
What works:
- GSM
- SMS
- Camera
- GPS
What doesn't :
- Audio
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- Data
Download:
ROM + Kernel
Cretits:
AOSP, FXP, CM, Sony and all the others
Thank You, really good job
I have also compiled a build of cm10.1 which didn't boot, maybe you want some part or whole of it?
I don't remember having problems with hw modules
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
No, but what steps did you follow to compile it?
I followed the steps from Here page 13 from nickholtus replacing the branch to cm-10.1.
Cheers seems that GSM doesn't work at all in contrary to what the OP states.
Just tell me if you need logcats.
GSM does work, at least for me. Are you sure that in your ROM were present libgralloc.so, libmemalloc.so hwcexternal.so hwcomposer.msm7x30.so and all other .msm7x30.so under system/lib/hw?

yes, you are right. I didn't try yet. My first problem is to understand why some modules don't compile. Maybe something is changed between 4.1.2 and 4.2.1...

[DEV] 3.x.x nAa kernels for SEMC 2011 line - Devs only

Hello community,
First things first...
I'm opening this thread for developer discussion ONLY. There will be a separate thread for releasing this kernel and for user feedback, etc. Please RESPECT that and keep this thread only for developer discussion. This is only for development chat - nothing else.
To report bugs, questions, etc (NON-development stuff) --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2247466
As you might already know, I've been working on getting 3.0 booting for our devices with success. Progress is good, but as expected there are bugs here and there that need to be sorted out.
Current status:
- Some components (e.g. charging and camera) have to come from SEMC .32 sources (which are not bad anyways) - this is ok
- Most other stuff are updated from later sources
3.0.x
- Based this kernel on M7630AABBQMLZA404033I CAF tag. It's the latest tagged release for this arch and is linux 3.0.8.
- Rebased on ics_chocolate branch
- All mogami devices are fixed almost completely. There are bugs here and there as with all software.
3.4.x
- Based this kernel on M7630AABBQMLZA40901040 CAF tag. There is no tagged release for this arch for 3.4. msm7x30 is not officially supported any more.
Goal:
- To stimulate kernel development discussions and get all 2011 devices completely supported.
What's needed:
- Developers to pick up on a device they have (there's no point trying to port a new kernel without having the device, please don't do that) and make the needed changes for fully supporting them.
- Look for bugs and instabilities and fix them
- Propose enhancements and patches
Some rules:
- I will not be accepting patches blindly. They must be tested and verified to work without affecting other devices. Plus, these are stability-targeted kernels
- If porting from .32 is needed (i.e. after evaluating that new CAF drivers don't work) changes should be kept minimal and close to CAF. This will allow for further upgrades
- You can fork as much as you like, but please contribute back so that all devices can benefit! This is open source in action.

I have only one question ...
What benefits would bring us to reach a stable kernel version 3.4 to our Xplays??? More performance?? it may reach a Android 4.2 rom for our game???
I am anxious ..

The point of Doom adding the [DEVS ONLY] tag was to keep posts like these out. Yes it CAN help our device run the newer version of android as well as cut down on the things we have to change for our device.
I would love to help out but I'm not very good at developing kernels since I need more knowlage in C. Do you have an idea of what's stopping it from booting or not yet?

-More Performance
-Slightly more available ram because of better management (up to 6mb)
-Less changes necessary for newer android versions.
-Therefore we will have newer roms much more stable earlier.
And a huge lot of other misc advantages that are more minor.........
-I forgot to say it would make Ubuntu Mobile much much much more easier to port (hence it's based on nexus at the same kernel version)

I'm sure Doom doesn't have time to work on it recently between his life and other devices he devs for. I don't tend to work on kernels or if I do I don't really work on them as much as use or build them. (I'm hoping to learn more code lanuges but I need to get my math credits up in my college.)
sorry for a late reply on this thread.
I borrowed my xpria play to my friend a few weeks ago, but he dropped it 6 times in a row, now the device won't work anymore and repair costs are pretty expensive (about 100 euro's)
So sadly i can't work on this kernel for now, till i have enough money to repair the phone.
I hope someone else will find some time to work on it, good luck DooM!!

{Discussion}AOKP KitKat 4.4.2 for Xperia Go

Hi guys,I saw in that the Xperia U which has 90% the same hardware as our Xperia Go has already AOKP 4.4 Nightlies,so I decided to make a port for our lovely Xperia Go.I succesfully booted the ROM but I have forgot to include some essential drivers/libs for camera so I remade the ROM but I did another stupid mistake so it doesn't boot again and I need to make it again .But there is no problem as it doesn't take much time so I think until tommorow I will have given you the first screenshots. So I made this thread so we can discusse some non-development related things.Because I am new to Android Development and XDA ROM posting (I have been using XDA as ROM finder since a long time) I think you could direct me correctly.

It is best to compile aokp from source rather than porting it (more performance). But ported rom is also quite okay
@TechBossGR feel free to port it but as @wan5xp said, source built is better. I can help you(or anyone building) for building from source
Cheers,
AJ

@Abhinav2 Thanks for the permission!Unfortunately I don't have a powerful computer (Intel C2D 2.5Ghz,3GB,200GB is my rig) and I don't have enough time to learn about it!But thanks for your willing to help me (or anyone else). It would be helped me if you could give me a link which explain some things like DeviceTree and others. Now,for the ROM I'm really sorry but I didn't have enough time to finish the ROM so I will probably finish it at the weekend. How much difference will have a ported ROM from a ROM which was built from source?

Don't worry. My laptop is almost the same as your rig, only with 2gb of ram. I am also a beginner. With abhinav2 help, i'm sure you can do it. Ported rom sometime have stability issue

Yeah but I'm afraid that compiling will take a lot of hours and I don't have so much time to spend there. Also I don't want to make things without understanding what I am doing,I want to know what and why I am doing. That's why I'm asking for a place which explains the basic things for Android building like DeviceTree and other essential things.
I am here again guys and I'm sorry for don't inform you about the ROM.In fact,I was waiting for a new CM11 build so my AOKP port would have less bugs but unfortunately no new CM11 build came out .Does anyone know when or if CM11 will be updated (by Rodger_Rulez)?
