Hi guys,I saw in that the Xperia U which has 90% the same hardware as our Xperia Go has already AOKP 4.4 Nightlies,so I decided to make a port for our lovely Xperia Go.I succesfully booted the ROM but I have forgot to include some essential drivers/libs for camera so I remade the ROM but I did another stupid mistake so it doesn't boot again and I need to make it again .But there is no problem as it doesn't take much time so I think until tommorow I will have given you the first screenshots. So I made this thread so we can discusse some non-development related things.Because I am new to Android Development and XDA ROM posting (I have been using XDA as ROM finder since a long time) I think you could direct me correctly.

It is best to compile aokp from source rather than porting it (more performance). But ported rom is also quite okay
@TechBossGR feel free to port it but as @wan5xp said, source built is better. I can help you(or anyone building) for building from source
Cheers,

@Abhinav2 Thanks for the permission!Unfortunately I don't have a powerful computer (Intel C2D 2.5Ghz,3GB,200GB is my rig) and I don't have enough time to learn about it!But thanks for your willing to help me (or anyone else). It would be helped me if you could give me a link which explain some things like DeviceTree and others. Now,for the ROM I'm really sorry but I didn't have enough time to finish the ROM so I will probably finish it at the weekend. How much difference will have a ported ROM from a ROM which was built from source?

Yeah but I'm afraid that compiling will take a lot of hours and I don't have so much time to spend there. Also I don't want to make things without understanding what I am doing,I want to know what and why I am doing. That's why I'm asking for a place which explains the basic things for Android building like DeviceTree and other essential things.
I am here again guys and I'm sorry for don't inform you about the ROM.In fact,I was waiting for a new CM11 build so my AOKP port would have less bugs but unfortunately no new CM11 build came out .Does anyone know when or if CM11 will be updated (by Rodger_Rulez)?

I don't know if i've posted this in the right section, but at times on and off i've thought about doing rom development. When I had a Nexus S 4G I made the attempt of being the first to compile ICS from source for that phone. This phone needs roms, I also can't afford to switch phones. I don't know alot about development, but where could I start so I can begin to learn how to build roms? How difficult would it be to get a rom compiled for this phone that'll boot, being that it has a locked bootloader? If someone can help me so I can at least try to do some type of development for this device. I have to flash some type of custom rom on this phone, lol.
imo the best is a port of cyanogenmod with sources of phones similar to optimus l9 and for sure versions like 4.1 ++
this version of android excisting in optimus l9 ics is working fine. it would be nice porting of newer versions.
Finally someone...first.

Glad and happy to see someone (first one) a developer is willing to work on Source Codes. May be for you only I did collected all the resources.
Source Codes here,
Unrooted Stock Roms here,
Flashing and Rooting here and
Rooted CWM Backups here.
See already collected so much of information so some developer will start working. Did this because the LG links were rapidly dying and still are.
I am not developer, but I will be happy to become a tester for you and would like to try to help you in any way you may want. Happy Developing, BIG THANKS and Best of luck.
I'll start after I get a new ethernet cable for my computer, Ubuntu doesn't work well with my wifi usb adapter. Works fine in Windows and was working ok in Linux Mint, abeit kinda slow. I may have to ask someone for help or for guidance, but i'll try to do something. Better than complaining about no roms but not doing anything to help bring one. I don't know how difficult it would be but I was thinking about building JB from source for this phone?

Impressive, DooMLoRD has returned to the Xperia Play! : D
I have only one question ...
What benefits would bring us to reach a stable kernel version 3.4 to our Xplays??? More performance?? it may reach a Android 4.2 rom for our game???
I am anxious ..

The point of Doom adding the [DEVS ONLY] tag was to keep posts like these out. Yes it CAN help our device run the newer version of android as well as cut down on the things we have to change for our device.
I would love to help out but I'm not very good at developing kernels since I need more knowlage in C. Do you have an idea of what's stopping it from booting or not yet?

-More Performance
-Slightly more available ram because of better management (up to 6mb)
-Less changes necessary for newer android versions.
-Therefore we will have newer roms much more stable earlier.
And a huge lot of other misc advantages that are more minor.........
-I forgot to say it would make Ubuntu Mobile much much much more easier to port (hence it's based on nexus at the same kernel version)

I'm sure Doom doesn't have time to work on it recently between his life and other devices he devs for. I don't tend to work on kernels or if I do I don't really work on them as much as use or build them. (I'm hoping to learn more code lanuges but I need to get my math credits up in my college.)
sorry for a late reply on this thread.
I borrowed my xpria play to my friend a few weeks ago, but he dropped it 6 times in a row, now the device won't work anymore and repair costs are pretty expensive (about 100 euro's)
So sadly i can't work on this kernel for now, till i have enough money to repair the phone.
I hope someone else will find some time to work on it, good luck DooM!!

Hi all, As I said, here comes the first version of android 4.3 for the x10. This is based on the evervolv ROM.
The binaries can be found in evervolv 4.3 folder.
https://www.wuala.com/CMX10-Releases/?key=CMX10Team
BUGS
NO CWM delivered with kernel
NO CHARGEMON
The WLOD that because famous with android 4.3
Maybe a lot more.
Install
Copy ROM on your SD card.
Wipe Data and Cache
Get into CWM and install ROM.
Flash the kernel.ftf using flashtool
This is an early version, I might not have time to work on it a lot. If someone wants the sources before their released, PM me.
Scritch
PS: Forgot the little disclaimer.
No warranty about this. I can't be blamed if somethings goes wrong or if phone is damaged. Use at your own risk.

There's some pretty cool version of JB. The CM10 now has every thing except hardware video encoding/decoding. Everything else is working nicely.
CM10.1 and Everolv 4.2 and 4.3 have an issue with the kernel. But I can't manage to fix it. So we've been working on newer kernel, 2.6.32 but it has a camera issue. And we're trying to port a newer kernel, but it's not that easy.

One more thing - is it possible to restore USB charge or something like this to kernel? Becouse i read You remowe this options from source code and from 4.X kernel we cant use other then Sony charger - i have Philips charger for 2 phones but cant use it.
Hey xperia x8 users and devs,
I try to build a clean CM 10.1 on my PC
The CM 7/9/10 development thread seems a bit overloaded and I want to collect all neccessary facts, when I try to build CM 10.1.
What will be needed here?
- Manifest files for build a clean repository (which devicetree, display libs ...)
- Which patches were used?
- Kernel configs and additional kernel driver
What will be the aim?
- Get a functional CM 10.1 on xperia x8 with most of the hardware features
Builds for testing pruposes will be posted here in this dev thread.
This thread is aimed for development purposes not for whishes like "Can you make feature xyz working?". It is the main task to get most of the things on xperia x8 working like cam, camcorder, Bluetooth, GPS, WIFI , SD-CARD.

Compiled but could not boot, and t MSM shakira/delta board fully ported into kernel
something was missing.
and to make a compilation of 4.2.2 need legacy libraries for old binaries
and build using miniphone and not fullphone in the configs.
u can read from here

go there and see if you can help with something ..
https://github.com/androidarmv6
I saw this project earlier, and Daveee10 opened a discussion about the 4.2 development (it was in the last year).
But you have a working version, why NOT post is?
The users can post feedback, and more member will be join, if they can test it.
As I wrote earlier in pm, I'm not interested in the cm10+ development, especially if need to start it from zero. But I think more easy to make a group what working on one project, if the possible members NOT need to start everything from the beginning.
EDIT: this is not offense, just a suggestion.
Not sure, if it is possible...
But, due to the fact, that Rebellos is inactive and volk204 obviously stopped development and Tigrouzen also quit ZenDroKat, we have to look for new devs to continue work on Android development on Wave devices...
Next target should be Android 4.4.3...
What do you think?
I am pretty much sure the last developer that is willing to work is both rebellos and volk.
I have one dev here in poland, but No on XDA. I tell him about that )
In my opinion...
Better move is to answer here the truth about further Develpment:

Please our main Developer:
@volk204
@Rebellos
Is this end of Development for S8500 and S8530?
@Tigrouzen
I saw only you have removed your work from your site...
I know no details nor reason...
Thanx in advance.
Best Regards

End , but @volk204 , @Rebellos @Tigrouzen i request u plz make kernel for wave3 , nd support adfree , team work :good:
How bout u guys try compiling yourself?
I mean they're already many guides out there, So anyone can learn and compile there own Rom!
And I do t think it makes any point to compile a rom with same bugs etc...
I'd rather focus on fixing present bugs then compiling a new rom,
Anyways, M not being disrespectful or something, but telling u the fact!
But if u guys really want then I can compile Rom, but kernel is a bit complicated for me,
So Team work is best!
Cheers.

Very good idea... but...
I think if some users are waiting, and we waiting very long during all this time...
years.
So maybe it is not wrong, if main Developers could tell us...
discontinued or not...
As you can see, Rebellos for instance, not more talk in public...
...but he is "active" in XDA...
In my opinion it is an question of respect...
We are not married... but it is strange... that so many Devs left project...
But nobody is able to say good bye...
hero355 is good example. Check his Signature:
I'm out of from bada development! Thanks all who were interested my Rom and all works on bada.

Thanx hero355, he made things for bada and more and he is fair...
Because he knows few users have hope for his help...
And Rebellos for instance could update his Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459391
""Sorry, no more updates"" or something similar...
Nobody will kill him.
Really easy task...
Best Regards
Compiling is a thing, fixing bugs another.
I can compile ROM or kernel, and changes some in sources for rom and kernel (making Bigmem, SD or Nand kernels for example), but i can't solve any bugs, because it need a knowledge i don't have, and few here have this knowledge...
Well...
I think, we have all abilities...
GT-S85XX are no problem anymore...
GT-S8600 Bootloader is nearly open for Android...
I tihnk, GT-S8600 is a good device to run Android 4.4.3...
Loyal tester, user & fan
After hundreds of flash still back to bada now..
Thank you to all developers
Just made little customization rom base on china's LC2 bada
2.0 source..

As from my side - the project is discontinued. I'm not interested in working on it anymore. Thanks for such a long time "together".

@volk204

Thanx in advance.

Hi adfree
I think it is near end. I can't fix functional kernel issue like charger without Rebellos.
Now i'm very busy with real life
And my USB is completely broken, but i hope i will repair it.
But i think i can find time to build new releases and support RIL bugs, if we will find it.
Regards
Nikolay

Mr. Volk, if you repair your cable and find time for it, is it possible to put latest updates (GPS, modem etc.) on your 4.1.2 rom for one last time? Your roms was really good. A bit slow but number of bugs are very very small. Because of that I always prefer your roms. Thank you for your all works.
Best regards
@volk204
- Could you help us to build Android Kernel on first place, then later ROM for S8600 WAVE3.
Because adfree already hacked bootloader and its opened now for new OS.
If you get some free time, please, take look and try to help us.
Thanx in advance for you help.
Someone asked earlier to compile Oleg sources, here is what i got after compiling with "make PROJECTNAME=s8600" : http://www.multiupload.nl/01QBHIU857
I have absolutely no idea on how to use this, look like it's little kernel made to boot android kernel.

After some search, it look like it's "Little" kernel, some kind of bootloader. It load some function (see here for more info : https://www.codeaurora.org/blogs/little-kernel-based-android-bootloader, i don't find lot of doc about it) but i highly doubt it can boot the whole android system.
