I have one...
I did not remove the screen protector. Instead I removed my ZAGG IS. I like the built in one. However removing the plastic one is not hard at all. Its just glued in place.
Wasn't worried about the ease of removing so much as the feel...its kinda springy if u know what I mean ...its starting to annoy me some lol

I bought mine on Saturday but I am taking it back because of the built-in screen protector.
Not only does it not sit flush with the glass (which is why it's "springy") but it distorts the quality of the screen horribly.
Getting my money back and sticking with my Diztronic TPU
Wow I removed it because it was too springy and it feels way better with my ghost armor screen protector!

I don't think Otterbox took into account the weirdly concaved screen. I agree with the feel of it, spongy. But i also don't like how the sides are squared off, as opposed to more rounded on the previous versions I've used on other devices. The accessory plugs are hard to open and close. If you take the silicon cover off, you notice there's no grab rail for the silicon in the corners. Its hard to lock into the holster. Feels unnatural when taking it out if the holster and I've used a defender for over a year previous.
I'm OK with all the feeling because I was using a commuter it seems much like the commuter to me...

On every device I have ever had a defender series I just cut away the plastic shield it sucks one I do that I toss on my own screen protector and enjoy!

I just got my defender today.I like it feels fine had the commuter before this one the commuter does feel more rigid but I like not having to worry on screen. The holster does look odd will have time to test that tomorrow
Keep in mind that there are two different varieties of the defender floating around for the s3 it seems.

Did you purchase directly from Otterbox? I purchased at local att store. After4 days, no better. Thinking of calling Otterbox and complaining.
Deleted.
I bought from AT&T but now outs returnd the screen was grainy may be that's what was meant by springy... I bought back a commuter but don't want to deal with adhesive protector yet want to have a protected screen

Does anyone use a screen protector under the one built in?

Yes. Just a greatshield hd one. Im paranoid about sand getting in under the case. Had it happen to me on my gnex.

most likely same as my note 2, will removed the otterbox screen protector replacing it with a tempered glass to protect the screen.

In what way? Rainbowing? I think thats from the defender screen protector. Or something else? What kind of screen protector are you using underneath?

Like when you put the screen protector on a phone and it has bubbles in it

Buy It Now!!!
First and foremost let me just start by saying that I typically do not do reviews, but I do consider myself to be a phone fanatic. I've owned several cases for several phones, including iPhone 5 & Otterbox Defender (Pictured) and this is by far the best Defender case that I've purchased. I'll try to keep it short and let the pictures do the talking.
The case fits very tight and the phone will not move at all once its placed inside, so be sure that there's no lint or hair on the screen or screen protector of the case because it's next to impossible to remove it without a flat head screwdriver or knife. The headphone port leaves plenty of room for L Shaped 3.5mm jacks (Beats etc.). The "rubber" outer shell is very stiff and shouldn't get loose over time like some of the older otterboxes. All of the ports and cutouts are perfect. The only thing that i don't like is that there is a rainbow affect from the screen protector, & the fact that it looks like a 7" tablet when it's on my hip. But that said this case was definitely worth the wait and money.
I appreciate that review but I own the case I'm just curious should I take the built in screen protector off or take my screen protector off

Im not having any bubbing here. I would its the self healing tech 21 protector thats causing the otterbox protecter to stick and make bubbles. I would take off the screen protector and put just a cheap one on. And keep the otterbox one on as it helps keep dust out of the case. Buts that just my opinion based on the thinking that a nice self healing screen protector is going to be wasted under there anyway.

This is what I want to do but nobody has confirmed that it will or will not work. I don't want to drop $60 on the defender and it be unusable. Now that I have had a tempered glass protector I could never go back to a plastic protector!
Does anybody know how to disable the sview software that pops up while the OEM s view case is installed? I'm wanting to have access to Google Music lockscreen controls while the cover is closed. Thanks

Should have saved $50 and bought a knock-off....

If you don't want the S-view functions at all, you could remove the IC chip from case.

An excellent point although some folks have received a free case when they purchased their phones. Either way, he can still head over to ebay and get one if he doesn't want to screw up the OEM case.

Knock off feels like a knockoff. But I have one in the mail so I will do a side by side. But you get what you pay for. I like the wake function but don't use most of the apps on the s view. I think it's crazy nobody knows how to turn it off. As much as we mod this should have been hacked a long time ago. This case just obviously isn't very popular with the people who do the modding. I will add info later to this post when i do a side by side. Hopefully it will be useful to someone.

Or maybe it IS popular. I suspect the reason why no devs have wanted to disable the S-View functions is because that's the entire reason that bought it to begin with.

Doubt that. I have the knockoff with the window and it's perfect with stock lockscreen and the lockscreen music far more usable than the sview cover software. There has to be another reason that's being overlooked.

Lol, so the metal connectors in the case is actually just a simple piece taped to the case so I just peeled it off and at least I get music controls now. But the sview software has different touch sensitivity than the rest of the software so the screen is unable to be used while the cover is closed when not using the sview software.

You could turn the extra sensitive mode on for the touchscreen somewhere in the settings. It's called glove mode or something.
isn't the music control part of the s view software using the window, if you somehow disable the s view feature, the music function will also be disable, if you must disable, have you tried going into.
settings/more/application manager/all, and try to mess around the software to disable the feature if it's available, becareful not to disable the wrong features or some phone feature might not work.
Try sticking some tape over the metal connectors on the cover

Has anyone seen S View style cases that have a flip cover that is thin, but keeps the phone case itself thin?
I.E the leather does not wrap around the entire case
Every case I've found online that has a flip cover is absurdly thick.

Just received a couple of cases I purchased
1 Simplism black
1 Simplism clear
1 MetalSlim clear
The Simplism are soft while the metal slim is the hard plastic. Using the simpliam now and loving the fit and the quality. Had the sont flip case when I biught the phone but was immediately unsatisfied because of how much weight and thickness it added.
Chexk out the simplism if u looking for the thin case that just to protect scratches and min drops.
Btw, above mentioned all came with screen protectors
Loving it
Take care guys

Can you post some pictures of your device in the cases? I'm especially interested in the Simplism Clear, because manufacturers often show rendered 3D models or digitally enhanced shots to show how transparent these things are when actually they are more milky and matte.

i wouldn't say it's 100% clear, on some close up photos you can see that its actually got 'micro' dots. don't know what is the purpose for that though. i personally do think that even with the dots, it's clarity is transparent enough for me
nothing yet to complain about this case
**by then way, this cases do have the cut-out for the magnetic port which was also one of my main reasons for buying as i believe i'm like many users, i use the dock to charge when at home
found this website i think it's located in the US, the others are in Asia
