I used Ultima rom v12 JB 4.1.2 for a long time and switched to CM10.2 4.3.1 recently... Since then, i am losing my mobile data a lot... I flashed efs v2 modems (MH1) also but it didn't solve the problem. Today, after doing a full wipe thru CWM, i flashed the sammy leaked official MJ9 thru odin but didnt solve the issue.
The data speed is good when it is there. It gets disconnected after varying intervals of time. It gets connected back on its own but after an unpredictable time.
I switch on/off the mobile data, wifi and airplane mode, edit the apn name and save it, dial a number and terminate the call and remove the battery and put it back... All these don't work. The data will come back on its own accord!!
I'm really frustrated!! Please help me in any way possible.

Hoping someone can help me out... My phone wont connect to my wifi at home (only place I use wifi). It gets hung up on "Obtaining IP Address" every now and then it will also show "Connecting, authenticating, not in range" but always comes back to obtaining IP address and never connects. I first noticed this after I had switched ROMs this past weekend. Went from MIUI to JTs VGB V7... Switched back to MIUI to see if it would fix it and nothing ( Always wiping cache, Dalvik, data in between) Have a tried a few other ROMs since and still getting the same problem... Flashed back to stock this morning and still cant connect to my wifi... I know its not my wifi because I am using it right now on my laptop... My wifes phone can connect without a problem (her phone is on PWGB v2). Anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks in advance!!
I don't know if the modem has anything to do with wifi connectivity but if your wife's phone has no issues on pwgb its worth looking into...what modem are you on versus her? Are they both on the same one?
Also have you tried just deleting your network and re setting it up?
Toggling wifi on/off, airplane mode on/off...not even sure any of those will make a difference just trying to figure out why your phone won't connect but your wife's phone will?

Yeah its pretty weird... We are both on the same modem, EC09. I have tried just about everything.
I had the same problem once. I re-downloaded the rom and kernel in the computer, put them in the sd card then, wipe data and cache and flash it without restoring any backups. That did the trick for me.
Kernel might have borked the IPtables. wipe caches and reflash the kernel.
Ok so I've been reading around in a few threads about this but haven't quite found a solution in my case and I think I need a second opinion. I've also posted in other on going threads but it just gets lost in the rabble so.... it now gets it's own thread.
Bought a brand new Bell SGS2 from a dude on Kijiji. It was brand new, still in the box with the plastic all on it. I SIM unlocked it (which required rooting it) and dropped my Rogers SIM chip in.
I can send/receive txt's but 3G data drops frequently and usually happens once I initiate a data session. My test case uses SpeedTest. I've only seen it complete a full test cycle twice... most of the time, it will get the ping, start the download test and 10% in, the data connection drops and 3G/H+ icon disappears. It takes about 1-2 mins for the data connection to return. I've tried market access or web browsing and same thing happens once a data session initiates.
I've installed a slew of modem/ROM combinations via Odin from XXKH3 to XXKI4... nothing... same issue. Seemed worse with KI4 too!
I've tried different APN settings, disabling fast dormancy and specifically trying to enable only HSPA bands. Nothing. Same problem.
I've since reverted back to stock BELL firmware and tried a friends Bell SIM chip and noticed THE SAME thing happening! So this would definitely tell me it's a hardware problem. It's been more than 15 days so Bell won't even talk to me as the return period has passed and I'm not a bell user so screw them.
I guess at this point, I should test my luck with Samsung but it's been rooted and even though I've un-rooted the binary counter shows 2 which means.... I'm screwed for warranty right?
U can reset the binary counter after flashing back to it original state by using jig. Google for galaxy s2 jig
Btw, why dont u just flash original samsung I9100XXKI3 rom? Which provide good modem. Check my signature, 'boot loop', theres a link lead u to installation guide with download link provided. All is there.

I personally found XXKI3 Modem to be best for Bell's SGS2 (currently using it on Telus).
Tried all the modems' including KI3... didn't work.
In recovery mode, fix permission, reboot and check the 3g again.
Try another method, flash cm7 nightly latest version #16. If the problem still exist, thats mean its related to phone's hardware.

Click to collapse
Well I got it new out of the box but I had to SIM unlock it which required rooting and etc....
I did power-volume up-home... got into recovery mode and... there is no option to fix permissions. Keep in mind this is the stock ROM I put back on.
CM7 is another idea.... not against that.
Well. Maybe some failure occured during rooting your phone before. Install rommanager app from the market, open then select flash recovery mode, then select your phone model.. This will give u recovery v4 which will give u more option on recovery mode. This is the easiest way to get more option cwm. U will have fix permission option when u done.

i have the same problem i.e data loses connection. after a fresh flash of stock rom and factory reset , it starts working fine for a week or so and then the shyt happens again . i can tell u , its not a hardware issue, it more like a software issue.
i m not good at android but wen i used to run squid on a linux machine as a proxy server , i recall i had to clear a log file to make data flow possible every few days. i think android has a similar issues some logs files build up or some **** like that.
I have a i9300 international and since i upgraded from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 i`m having problems with wifi. It keeps disconecting from router every 5 minutes and automatically reconects. I tryed everything from disabling things in advanced wifi to disable power save mode in *#0011# menu, keeping it ON allways. Than i changed the router, i modified settings in the router, disabled wifi security. Nothing works, every now and than (sometimes every 5 minutes) the wifi starts disconecting and reconecting in 2-3 seconds. It is verry frustrating. Is there any fix? Real fix?
Backup data and factory reset .
fails flash new firmware .

Ok, but it sucks cuz i have to format everything.
I agree with JJ.. Let us know how it goes
I've installed the custom rom Revolution HD 16 with 4.1.2 in it and it works great now. Done a full wipe, installed the rom and then deleted the cache and dalvik again. That was all, hope to never have that problem again. Oh, and the phone is more snappy too

Hello powers that be! I'm a total noob and really wish someone would help me. I currently using an XT910 which was a gift from a friend in China. For some reason my cellular data (both 2G and 3G) won't work on any custom ROM. It only works fine on the Stock ROM slot. I've tried Mokee, SlimKat, LiquidSmooth and MIUIv5.
Whenever i go to the mobile network settings, i see the correct APN is selected but it just won't connect or even show the 'E' or 'H+' icons. I'm currently in Nigeria but i doubt if its a location issue.
PLEASE HELP.. I don't have access to Wi-Fi so mobile data is all i've got, Thanks in advance!:fingers-crossed:
Seriously? No one? Come on guys
Change preferred network type under mobile network????

I have similar observation. After first boot everything is ok. Phone connects perfectly. Next I reboot phone and I can see that phone is connected for 1s not connected for ~20s (looped). What I noticed: additionally Airplane mode switches on and off. All of this without any touch to phone.
I observed this in every KK ROM I tested. There were a few times that phone worked properly after restart.
I always install new ROM on SS Slot 2 that is wiped (system, data, cache, dalvik) before installation.
Today I installed latest MoKee nightly (02.19) - result as described above.
Mobile Data was working okay until CM11 M2 then I updated to M3 through Settings with the CM Updater
and I cant get Mobile Data anymore since then I tried M4,M5,M6 and now M7 and nothing changed (all were clean installs)
I also tried flashing a stock rom still no mobile data. I did reset APN settings also tried manually entering them got nothing.
if you need screenshots or any more info to help me solve the problem just ask
Is it just the mobile data gone or is it that your signals are gone too? Sometimes it shows full signal strength but with mobile data gone you can't even make a call.
When I had this problem, my imei and baseband were screwed. Check that too once.
