There is a version 11 out of ioroot that supports sprint version? Do you have a link to it?
EDIT: I went to the IRC to find the ioroot11.zip link which is http://downloads.codefi.re/shelnutt2/g2/spr. This link kinda proves it is made for Sprint.
EDIT2: I ran this ioroot_v11 and can confirm it works for the Sprint LS980 variant.

I would recommend flashing TWRP through WACOMalt's method in his XDA thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670
WACOMalt also has a tutorial video to install TWRP to demonstrate his method
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZSjL6FCyxA
The way the TWRP website tells you to install it is slightly different by typing a different command with adb shell or terminal emulator
su
dd if=/sdcard/recoveryfilename.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/<by-name>/recovery
.
Personally I am more used to flashing a recovery image using the tutorial video method and would recommend the tutorial video version since it is simpler to install.

Flashify works fine. Used it on my Vs980 and my Ls980. Don't have an issue using terminal emulator, use it once in a while. Flashify is quicker and simpler. Each to their own.

Can I flash a Rom , I am HTC dev unlocked as of today and this is my first time being rooted this way, but I don't see super user so I can't use cwm so how can I flash a Rom this way, I mainly want google now working
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
That package that you need to flash is just to enable root on your ROM, if you have twrp already you should be able to just flash a new ROM, just make sure you fastboot the kernel. Unzip the ROM you are going to flash and put the boot.image in you adb directory and then type fastboot flash boot boot.image then jump into recovery wipe dalvik, cache and then factory restore and wipe system and then flash the ROM zip
Make sure to flash a custom recovery first. You need twrp before you can flash ROMs. Also you should read my guide. It goes over a lot of things you need to know to avoid any issues
I don't have twrp, and where is your guide located?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
In my sig. Go to the team win website and get the recovery, make sure its for the evolte, it comes in 2 flavors, recovery.image and update.zip. update zip is probably the easiest method
Will I still b able to accept an ota on a stock rom
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
With stock rom you can accept ota, you have to make sure you have stock recovery. At this point there's no real benefit. The fixes to lte seem negligable

As a rooted user, you shouldnt be accepting OTA's. Thats just rooting 101.
There are some very persistent people around these parts lol
I went to the teamwin page and did the Android App Install Method, downloaded the app and chose install OpenRecoveryScript and got the error message unable to find a recovery for your device
Download their update zip or fastboot the recovery.image

Yes I'm unlocked, I just saw that as the preferred method so I was tryna take the easy route lol
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
The update.zip is the easy route lol fastboot requires you to open a terminal, navigate to the adb directory and the flash command with isn't all that hard, but is a bit more work and requires you to understand the termimal just a bit

Yes, I'm persistent about it. Recommending people take an OTA when they don't fully understand the ramifications of doing so isn't the right thing to do. This isn't just about attaining S-OFF.
If you think you're experienced enough to do so, fine, but someone who just unlocked their device today and doesn't know how to flash a ROM should be taught how to do things properly. That includes very basic things about rooting such as never taking an OTA.
/rant
Yeah yeah, sorry, i didnt exactly recommend it, I just didn't really make any attempts to enforce advisement against it. I'll give you the gas and matches what happens afterward is your responsibility. If they burn themselves, then they burn themselves, most of the users here are not children, they can make their own decisions. If they take the time to look they will see the issues posted.
---------- Post added at 05:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:40 PM ----------
And i wasn't talking about you being persistent, I was referring to the last 10 threads or so (that I've read, skipped a few initially) with other users asking the exact same thing. I'm pretty sure that in the last 4 threads or so the op mentions they know its not advised
But taking an ota from my understanding on a stock ROM will just make me lose root which if I really want to unroot when jb comes out seems like an easy unroot method since I only want root for google now as of now

cmx is pretty rock solid as it stands, they just have a few very minor issues, nothing that would be a show stopper. if you make the jump please turn off hardware overlay in the developer options and the automatically download attachments in the text message settings

That would be incorrect. By suggesting you not take the OTA I'm saving you from yourself really.
But in the end, you'll do what you want to do to your device
Can't save everyone lol I advised someone not to down grade from 1.19 and they said thanks and less then 10 min later same user is asking for help on his now bricked device

Sorry, Work is frantic at moment so rarely here..
Do you have android sdk installed on your Windows computer? If yes, you can test the recovery you are trying by using fastboot, (fastboot boot recovery.img) if it works then there is a good chance that you have a rom that overwrites recovery when booting so even if Odin installs it ok it does not stick on rebooting....
You can extract the recovery image that you downloaded from droid basement from the tar.md5 file.
If you are ok with trying all that then we might be able to get you root by booting into cwm recovery through fastboot and flashing the root.zip from there, theory being when you reboot after that you will lose your custom recovery but have root...

Its fine! Its great to have the help! I would be fine doing all of that stuff. Do you think there would be a way for me to make a backup of the stock ROM so that I would be able to use this method to flash a different ROM like CM and then have a recovery and lots of goodies?
I would just need my hand held through the entire process honestly, I have no idea how to do that stuff but I'm pretty good at following directions lol.
I suppose you could use the adb "pull" command to save all the necessary partitions... Not sure of the possibility of possibly making a nandroid using the fastbooted recovery while you're in there... Never thought of it before and never tried it so you could become a pioneer...

Another thought is that if you succeed in getting root then you can delete the file responsible for overwriting recovery on your locked boatloader and you will then be free to install a recovery and it will stick... File is install-recovery.sh in system/etc
Our you could try unlocking boatloader but you'll lose everything on the tab...

Kingo Root (installs SuperSU NOT SuperUser) worked like a charm for me! Once rooted I installed CWM recovery via Odin3 v1.85 (MUST have all Samsung Drivers installed. Get 'em Here &/or Here). No problems so far. Havent flashed a ROM yet.

If you still have root and have taken the OTA, would you mind dumping your bootloader partitions so some of us can examine them?
Code:

Where is this PSA? Yeah it wont work until we figure out a way to make it work, I know google changed security in relation to access rights etc with 4.3, but that doesn't mean cant find a way to temp unroot and install it. Hiding things in Busybox binaries might be a good starting point if anyone is pondering ways in which we can get this to work.

Have you rooted it? Try 'reboot recovery' in terminal. What happens?
Yes its rooted..Now to use TWRP since I could not get the stock recovery to work.
Nothing Just reboots....tried re-installing stock FW with the Flash tool and when I upgrade DL it gives me the Factory Reset Status 2
If I Upgrade Board DL.......I get to the OS but no recovery
Have current LG Drivers Current Flash Tools.......Im stumped (No Pun)

We probably will get lollipop via TWRP before ota. If not it won't take long to rip the required parts and package them for TWRP.

I have not, I'm 95% sure it works though. Try it before you need it though just in case. Also you may still not be able to take an OTA as you will be rooted and modded.
