Hello all, I recently purchased an e970 from a friend of mine. It came pre rooted and flashed with the 4.4 KitKat ROM by houstonn.
He explained to me that the phone does not connect to a PC and that he'd troubleshooted as far as he could trying to get it to work. I'm not sure what he could have done that would have completely broken USB on this phone but if anyone has any insight or some steps I should take please do let me know.
Basically the phone seems to do nothing at all when I plug it into the computer. No USB prompt or driver installation occurs. No detection in device manager. Regardless of what mode I'm in I get the same problem! (Recovery, bootloader, normal boot)
Also I did post another thread regarding this but I will try to delete it.

Same Issues with LG E970
Sorry to say I have same issue.
Mine started after I flashed TWRP 2.6.3.3 Multirom in an attempt to prep it to install KitKat.
Now when I boot into recovery it won't see the SD card so I can try reverting or loading another rom.
I can get the phone into fastboot and also Download mode, but not even with ADB or LGNPST will recognize it connected via USB.
Any suggestions welcomed!

You need to flash the 2.6.3.3 twrp that detects ext sdcard. ADB push that to your internal sdcard and flash it in the trwp you have now. It will then see your ext sdcard and be able to flash what you have on it.

I have tried, but I can't get ADB to detect the phone. I tried different PC's so I can only conclude something happened to the USB port......Wonder if a corrupt or wrong TWRP would cause that??
Also...it will it not detect in download mode
Berraco, any luck with this? Perhaps cleaning it would help.. Idk I'm willing to try anything.

Still stuck. I went ahead and replaced the USB circuit/port......thinking that was my issue, but still the phone won't get detected by any PC.
I can boot into the TWRP, but that won't detect my SDCARD in order to try to reflash from there.
I can get into Download moade and phone charges via usb.
TWRP wont detect anything on USB ODB.

phone was rooted using the unlockr method and was able to flash a froyo rom successfully via clockword mod recovery.
i tried to flash another froyo rom and tried to reboot into recovery from clockwork mod and now its just stuck at the vibrant screen.
i tried booting by holding the 2 volume buttons + power button and then releasing when the 2nd vibrant splash screen comes up...nothing, it stays at the vibrant screen.
so i tried booting it normally by just pressing the power button and that doesn't work either. it stays stuck at the vibrant screen.
so i researched and came across this article: http://www.ithinkdiff.com/how-to-access-download-and-recovery-mode-in-samsung-vibrant/
that didnt work. i tried all 3 steps. when i go through terminal and try to run the adb commands it just says that no devices are connected.
please help me.
Your gonna have to flash with Odin

can this be done via mac?
if you can get to recovery you can place your rom on the sd card and browse from cwm
if no cwm, you need odin. From mac maybe with bootcamp.
i can't get into recovery.

Yes, but I'm not sure what you do on the Mac end.
Right, but if I do it on a XP windows pc. Do I need any other files other than those 2 downloads from the youtube link?

hi
I use this method:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/8482-fixedstrange-problem-project-voodoo-black-screen-of-death/
I hope this can fix your problem. Good luck
Thanks everyone for your replies. I got it up and running again. Here's what I did:
1) I download the vibrant usb drivers from here, then installed them on my Windows XP machine (http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDo...SB-Driver-for-Windows-x86-Download-96692.html)
2) I then watched this youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnY7P14JSWQ), downloaded the 2 files and followed the steps in the video
It went back to the stock (out-of-box-unrooted) ROM. Without the JI6 update.
ok so i did something very similar and am currently having a very similar problem. i can get into download mode; i then use this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734475 to try and reinstall stock (i think i may have wiped the internal sd card earlier somehow) is this the proper way to go about reinstalling everything or am i missing something?
Hi im relatively new at rooting and am currently experiencing issues with a bricked device.
i have two htc one s devices
my personal one is running cm10 ville with clockwork touch recovery and is working perfectly
however the second one i was using the same exact files.
this one is bricked
its in a constant bootloop.
i can get back to my recovery just fine and get to the fastboot in the phone fine
i cleared my cache
wiped my data and wiped the dalvik cache all perfectly fine when i try to flash the cm10 official rom back on it cannot mount the sd card
i would try to install a different recovery and try again maybe using viper one s
but i cannot get the phone to power on
it doesnt showup on the computer when it is plugged in while in fastboot
when i try the cmd fastboot flash recovery it says waiting for device
any advice. this is not my own phone so i need it repaired pretty quickly.
any helpful information would be much appreciated.
Have you tried to full charge the battery first?? Also try to download the stock Rom and kernel (if you changed the kernel) and try to flash them. Use a standard CWM!

I was formatting my phone's internal storage in TWRP recovery and I accidently wiped my ROM instead of formatting data. Now there's no OS on my phone i.e it's soft bricked.Odin won't detect my phone on my winXP PC,I got the samsung drivers installed and I made sure no kies process is running.I tried mounting the storage in recovery but when I click on it on my PC,it tells me ''please insert a disk''.I wanna try flashing stock ROM using ubuntu but I just don't know how.I know it's by using hemidall but I'm not very experienced with linux.I just need the codes that I have to put in the terminal.
Can you boot in to TWRP recovery? If you can, you could just flash another rom from there. If not i just did a quick search of google for "i9300 flash stock firmware heimdall ubuntu" and came across this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947975

You can always put a rom on your external sd card (if you have one) just plug it in to an adapter (again, if you have one) and pop it back in the S3. And i bet in future you'll make a back up
Good luck.
Didn't work and I don't have an external SD.Well I guess I'm f***ed :/ NOPE.As I was typing this,I thought about trying to boot my phone while it's connected to the PC and while it was stuck at ''galaxy s3'' logo,it installed additional drivers(I thought all of them were installed) and odin detected my phone.I just saved myself a visit to my other house where my main PC is which I used to do all the flashing stuff before moving here Thanks for your help

There's a program called HeimDall. You can use that to re-flash stock firmware or you can install VirtualBox and Windows on top of that, then you download the stock firmware to the virtual machine and Odin and you can set it to read/write to and from the USB ports
Hope I could help!

Hello all,
I am in a small conundrum here---
I installed CM10.1 and then flashed Gapps on TWRP --all seemed well, so I wiped the cache and rebooted.
When I rebooted it would not boot past the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen.
So, of course, I rebooted back into recovery and tried to re-flash CM10.1, but this time it failed! It wouldn't even install.
At this point, I tried to flash CWM and re-install and I got an "error status 7 code"
What can I do to get the CM10.1 installed without using an OTG Cable? I do not currently have an OTG cable!
Thanks in advance.
Try installing a different rom first and then flashing back to cm10.1

gunnyman,
I have a backup but its on a different computer--and I can't transfer any files from the PC to the phone as the phone doesn't boot past the logo screen.
Am i going to have to buy an OTG cable? or is there no other way to flash a .zip rom besides in TWRP and CWM?

an OTG cable is the best bet, we can't do anything but sideload a rom on the One. You can try to adb push a rom from recovery, but there have been mixed results in getting it to work.

Okay thanks gunnyman! Two questions..
1) is there a particular OTG cable i should use? I know work and some don't work
2) how do i push a rom with adb? I have never done that before!

I say sideload because when you have bricked it, there's no internal storage to access. Just boot into custom recovery and sideload the ROM I have linked in my signature. Then wipe the dalvik cache and reboot.
To sideload, choose install zip from sideload in recovery, then do adb sideload cm.zip in command prompt.
Hi everyone,
I've been searching how to boot in sd card for a week and tired and hopeless. I stumbled up here.
I know there are custom roms out there (TWRP, CWM)but my problem is I don't have access to usb cable to connect odin since my port was busted and the technician wasn't able to repair it. It only charged but no data data...
The problem is the android OS was corrupted. I can only access the recovery mode and I have tried to reset factory settings but with no success. I just need to know if I can boot on SD card alone to install an OS or install TWRP or CWM recovery without any sort of cable. Thanks...

Get someone with your same device and is rooted to pull a debrick.img from their device using terminal emulator app and have them upload it for you.
Then follow these instructions in the link below using the debrick file you get from them, ignore the device files linked in the thread, you only want the PC tools from the thread, then using your debrick.img follow the instructions.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2581166
You will see the instructions mention debrick.bin and debrick.img, they are the same thing, when you see it say one of these it it is talking about the debrick file you get from whoever helps you if they pull a copy for you. Use that file when it mentions doing something with either .bin.or .img.
After you get the device booted there are instructions to return your sdcard to normal use.
