Last week i noticed i had one scratch on the lower part of my screen, checked today, and now there are four similair cuts.
I am extremely careful with my phone and have no idea how they got there. Is anybody else having this problem?

no scratches yet on mine, i got "just" some dust under the screen i would never thought this could ever happen on these phones, but Samsung proved me wrong once again
a friend has some small surface scratches on his since day one, but he's kinda strange like that and he doesn't care...
Really happy with my screen, no scratches (even without a case and it my pocket/bag with keys and coins and other nasties) and the screen doesn't seem to smudge as badly as previous phones and is easy to clean when it does smudge.
The scratches are really small, try putting your phone screen directly at a light source and look at it from different angles. I'm scared that I got a defective screen on my phone, because the only thing remotely sharp that could of made the scratches were my nails, but that shouldn't be happening with gorilla glass.

The one thing that realllly scratches gorilla glass is sand, or anything sand like. Keys and all that are fine. But seriously beware of sand. If you're keeping it in a case or something make sure that there isn't a piece of sand or something similar in the lower end (where the keyboard would be), same goes for pockets and stuff.
I heard that sand and jewellery could cut the glass and nothing like that ever came near the screen.
Except maybe, could sugar crystals (from a packet of sugar) cut it?

if u put ur screen under bright light at odd angles u will see fine scratches there
those scratches are in the coating not the glass
the coating is highly scratchable anything can scratch it unlike the glass beneath it which is scratch resistant
The small scratches probably merely affect the oleophobic coating and not the gorilla class.
The oleophobic coating has been applied to improve the legibility of the screen under direct sunlight but some consumers complain that the oleophobic coating is very scratch-able and prone to wearing off prematurely...
Some people even go as far as advising against applying screen protectors arguing that the adhesive layers found in cheap screen protectors damage the oleophobic coating of the screen thus causing small scratches or cuts.
I got one of the scratches you describe, very small and hard to see but its there. Ive been treating the thing extra careful too.
As the poster above said it is as if its on a very very thin coat on top of the gorilla glass.
If I may suggest getting a screen protector. They're really cheap on ebay. I spent 3 euros for 6 from ecell, and then I spent (before) for 6 (of a different kind which I'm not too happy with) for around 2 euros, another company which usually comes from Germany. Here are the links:
e_cell screen protectors (which I like)
http://cgi.ebay.es/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130501908504&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
The other one (which I don't like, but serve their purpose for being so cheap!)
http://cgi.ebay.es/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170638019246&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
That must be it,I found a guy online who posted how he removed the scratches:
"link removed"
Hope this helps,if somebody tries it out please post results
As for screen protectors...
I think the SAMOLED+ screen is too beautiful to have a screen protector on it. They destroy the colours and make images look much worse, for me it ruins the point of having a great screen. Just my two cents.

I also have a small scratch in that part and some very very faint ones at the top of the screen.

Good screen protectors don't effect the image quality and vibrance of the display. Try SGP's ultra crystal protectors.
The kickstand on the photon seems to be very sensitive and vulnerable to scratches just by laying it down. Any solutions post-problem and how to avoid it? And also do any of you know how to remove light scratches from the bezel and the gorilla glass screen?
If you feel comfortable doing so, you can buy some sand paper and do what is called wet sanding, they do it in the auto repair for bad scratches. You would need 2000 grit, 2500 grit and 3000 grit and sand on the screen with light water, starting with the 2000 and working your way up, after the 3000 just wipe the water off with a soft dry terry cloth.
but make sure you turn the phone off before doing it, and tape right around the speaker and microphone so you do not damage the phone.
If you have any questions you can PM me
Scratches on kickstand?.... ;

You could do the same for the kickstand, but it wouldn't turn out good

Hi guys, i have a question for those of you who own this awesome device since the intl version came out... what are your thoughts on the scratches resistance of the screen, and more generally the device itself?
I just got my NA version three days ago and i was wonderinf if it was worth putting a screen lrotector on it or the screen is scratches proof?
Thanks!
Sam
It will scratch..... Get a screen protector as soon as possible.

I've had it a few days now, and i swear i have been consciously very careful with it, but i have a few scratches on my screen. only really noticeable when the screen is off, but still a pain in my ass.
i made sure nothing else was in my pockets and everything. i really don't know how they got there.
so if you're of the protection persuasion then yeah put one on imo.
Read the do i need scratch protector posts in accessories .

Hmmm that sucks ... ok well I'll go buy one asap.. do you have any recommendation for the brand? I really would like one as unnoticable as possible.. I bought some cheap ones on ebay for my old touch pro2 and they are ugly as f**k :/

I've been using mine for 2 weeks now, no scratches at all! I always put the phone in my pocket by itself and only have a ROCK case on it I guess if ur careful you wont have scratches, but some people just dont know/care how to take care of their things. I have insurance so I have peace of mind should anything happen
its hard to predict the future , as caution as one can be ,accidents do happen , dont regret till it happen
Certainly not scratchproof, got a scratch in 1day and i was carefull... get a screenprotector

Scratch resistance? None. My 2 year old Desire has less than this after a month..
It's really sad, if you think about it. The GS3 has Gorilla Glass 2. If anything, it should be much harder to scratch.
That being said, my employer ordered a bunch for a launch event and all but one came back with multiple scratches on the screens. I get the distinct impression that even the iPhone's screen is more scratch resistant. Why are we going backward?
No gorrilla glass screen is scratch resistant. Sometime or the other it will definitely get a scratch. Be wary of the small minute particles like salt, dust..etc if there aint any screen protector....
If u dont want to apply a screen protector and want to keep it scratch free, here's how :
1.Take the phone
2. Put it in its box and seal it
I guarantee screen will not get a single scratch.

I have had many phones and I have never used a screen protector on any of them. I also have never scratched the screen on a single one. So, I can assure you that there is more than one answer to "not scratching your screen" and your ridiculous response is wildly unnecessary.
Gorilla glass is supposed to be scratch resistant. That's basically its entire claim to fame. What it isn't is shatter resistant. It is hardened to the point where things like keys and razor blades won't scratch it, but it becomes more brittle and a direct impact will shatter it. This information is freely available on the web.
In the case of the glass on the GS3, it doesn't even seem to be scratch resistant. I have heard cases of the HTC One X scratching easily as well, and it also uses Gorilla Glass 2. Very disappointing.

This is the common misconception of people who think gorrilla glass is scracth resistant. Gorrilla glass only protects the screen from cracking when slipped from the hands or pocket. Its not scratch resistant.
Gorilla glass 2 is more thinner and more fragile than Gorilla Glass 1.
The main weakness of gorrilla glass is small minute particles that have settled on the screen.
Dont believed it...???
Take a particle of salt on your fingertip and spread it on the screen. Have a look on clear sunlight and you will see a light scratch (depending on the force).

you are incorrect
gorilla glass IS made to be scratch resistant and not drop resistant.
also gorilla glass 2 is not more fragile then gorilla glass 1, gorilla glass 2 is 20% thinner but same strength
personally they shouldnt have made it 20% thinner instead same thickness and 20% stronger

My cruzerlite cases put a couple light scratches on my marble white gs3 after a day or two. Probably dust that was trapped inside, i can always buy a new backplate.
Honestly, I'm of the opinion (<--note that keyword) that anyone with scratches on this device is doing something wrong. I've had the phone just over two weeks. I don't have a screen protector, or even a case for it. It's just like it was when I got it out of the box (except that I actually put the battery in it and removed all the sticky transparent film from it). I constantly have this in my pocket with nothing besides the occasional spare change to keep it company. No scratches. At all.
Is anybody having problems with hairline cracks on the battery cover. I have noticed that there are several hairline cracks in my battery cover. White. It's really hard to see but there are several hairline cracks in the coating not all the way through the plastic. Not to concerned because I ordered a replacement a couple of weeks ago just to be on the safe side. Just thought I would ask if anyone has this problem. You have to look closely expecially around the camera hole. Easier to spot on the white.

yes my mates has cracked by the headphone jack!
yes i am also bewildered by the crack (just one only) in the side of the back cover, i have a good protective case.. i am very puzzled.. what's causing this?

Same here, but I'm not sure if it happened when I dropped it underneath the car seat.

There have been many complaints in Taiwan on mobile01.com from the battery cover cracking.... Its actually not the cover itself but the paint on the surface, happens on both white and blue.... u can only see in certain lighting and angles. It seems to happen if you flex the cover too much when u take it off... My way around this is to use a credit card to go around the edges to remove the cover instead of peeling it back
Yep same on my white one too
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I'll dig the instructions out when I get the chance and look but just wondering if Samsung have covered their own arses by giving you some warning or guide for removing cover.
Yeah, I have a crack between the headphone hole and the loud speaker, and it is causing the top right corner not to clip into the body properly. I have ordered a replacement back cover.
Yeah i noticed this too, I was bending the battery cover and this cased hairline cracks on the gloss paint on the outside of the battery cover. the plastic itself is fine, since its the same as the s2 cover which could literally be folded in half and go back to normal. but then again the black s2 cover didn't have any paint.
so bottom line is: the plastic of the battery cover is very flexible, but the gloss paint isn't and that's what cracks!
My laminate on the back panel started to peel so I sent the cover back for replacement (have a naked S III for a few days). Also the grip to putt it off at the top cracked.

No cracks on my cover, had the phone for about a month. I guess I am probably more careful than you guys when I remove the cover because I have long nails (real ones ) and I don't want to break them (I learnt the hard way with with the S2 )

Hi guys ,
I installed a Nillkin screen protector on my phone yesterday but I noticed that there a tiny scratch or a scuff mark on one side , its either on glass or on film , Was wondering can Nillkin screen protectors be re-installed ?
Can I just take it off , wash it with warm soapy water and re apply it , will it work ?
I've failed to do so, otoh if you've got time and patience to soak in soapy water to dissolve the adhesive and try it might work. I'd be interested in your experience

So i m the guinea pig . LOL!! . I'll wait 3-4 days to get more replies , if nothing I will give a shot and let u know.
Word of caution, have a cheapo plastic protector on hand for if the experiment does not go well.

I washed my LG G2 tempered glass screen protector, iloome flex twice and it works great. but use bottled water, tap water might cause water spots when dried.
don't know if it works with nillkins. it's very difficult not to catch dust particle while drying. or use thick framed case to cover the scuffs if it's on the edge
I've removed, reinstalled mime glass before. Wash it with soap and water, rinse it and stick it wet. Push out any bubbles let it sit for 20 minutes or so to dry
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
I washed my glass protector in soapy, warm water, blew off the water bubbles with canned air, then reapplied. Stuck great, no issues.
Cheers everyone , Will try this out on weekend.
