Not possible. You need to be rooted.

Has anyone found a way to root a thunderbolt with version 1.70.605.0?

I'm in the middle of rooting mine after just now taking the OTA. If the downgrade flash takes, I'm all good.
*EDIT* Downgrade took, next is copying the eng bootloader
works like a charm
Lol what's the manual method? I'm new to all this stuff.

Without the unlocked bootloader all you get it temp root. So, unless you want to do an ADB temp root on your device while running pre-release firmware, you're kinda outta luck on that front. Do you have an issue with unlocking the bootloader we should be aware of?
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on the next step I should take to root my phone?
I have the a T-Mobile LG Optimus L9 P769 with the following OS; Android 4.04 with Firmware 10g.
I have tried the following methods to root the device....with no luck:
Gingerbreak, root with restore, one click root, recoveryClockWorkTouch, and pretty much most of the others out there.
Is it possible that the phone has some form of modified privileges done before hand?
Is there a specific way to root my phone, or am I missing an essential step?
Please any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.....
Try lelus method of rooting, it works for all firmware n all variants. Check in development section :good:

It doesn't? Then I'm sorry but I know that there's a way to open the boot loader by flashing an P760 kdz then open bootloader then flash back but I think that made the screen mirror all the time.

I can't find any sources on rooting the jelly bean version of the wind mobile lg optimus l9, the only source I found was one for the Canadian ICS version. Is it possible to root it or am I stuck with the stock LG rom?
You can use cydia or vroot (literally Google vroot). However, even one you have rooted the phone, you will have to unlock the bootloader to be able to use the custom ROMs you find the Android development forums. To do this I recommend using kuma82's method. But you will need quite a bit of spare time as it is a lengthy process and you may not be successful on your first attempt.

Hi guys,
I'm an xperia noob here. I came from a Samsung galaxy s3 and an LG G2 and I'm not familiar with modding the xperia phones. I would really appreciate if someone could redirect me to the latest root method. If I were to root, do I need to unlock my bootloader? What would I lose if I root? What would I lose if I unlock my bootloader? How do I return back to stock if I need to? I would really be grateful for the replies from you guys!

Yes it's easy to root with towelroot as I remember, and stock rom is best in my opinion, I never used custom rom on xperia. Only once, but that was stock based custom rom

Not quite, but it's still pretty easy. If you're on the 4.4.4 .167 firmware you need to check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/4-4-4-creating-rooted-update-package-t2933155
sorry my mistake, didnt know for that new firmware. But its still easy to do it, it requres only 10min of your time
Thanks for the newest root method, but what would I lose if I root or unlock bootloader?

If you only root, you don't loose anything. And with unlocked Bl you will loose warranty if something is wrong with the phone (camera function should be intact)

Sorry to muddy the water but, if all you have done is rooted, many users have upgraded ota from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 and even retained root.

Either its possible or not, when a number of people on xda have done it I'd say its possible.
So less rephrase my post for clarity, in general OTA Upgrades are not possible on rooted devices, but a number of users have reported successfully performing an OTA upgrades to 4.4.4 on rooted devices without losing root.
