My Lumia 920, running gdr 3 , doesn't vibrate, I can hear the vibration while holding it too close to the ear, this has been happening post-Amber update.
Tried hard and soft rest too, doesn't help.
Any fixes?

hardware issue
send back to service center
or you can try hit your phone strongly with your hand, the vibration may come back

Overall i am pleased with the update, but i believe i uncovered an issue that others are expriencing as well.
When i have a second line calling me the screen does not wake up allowing me to switch to the second call. In the past, when a second call comes in the proximity sensor would wake the screen and allow me to take or reject the call. Now i cant even see who is calling. Since i use the phone for business, this is a big, big issue. It still works but the screen only wakes up after like the third ring, whereas before it would wake up immediately Anyone else experience this? I tried this on my buddies Vibrant and its the same thing.
So the question to you guys is how do i get the old dialer app back which i believe controls call waiting. Does anyone else know a way around this annoying issue?
Is there something stopping you from pressing the power button to turn the screen on when you hear the call waiting beep?
The prox sensor is not perfect.

Obviously, if it was perfect this thread wouldn't exist.

Thank u. I tried the power button, but unfortunately it does not wake the screen.
Thread moved to Q&A.
bump - me too!
pressing the power button results in a lagged response. that is: call waiting call comes in, screen is black. press the button screen stays black. 5-6 seconds pass and then the screen comes on finally and shuts right back off. whereas NOT pressing the power button, the screen stays black for 5-6 seconds and then comes on and stays on.
I am experiencing this problem too. Just started since coming from stock to JI6.
bump... me too, but this happened on a friend of mine's vibrant who was using stock JI6 from the ota, no root nothing and every incoming call if she is on a call has the same behavior.
This issue has gotten so annoying for me, I have unfortunately decided to sell the phone. I loved it, but is failed in the function I use it most as, a phone. Got a g2. Not as glamorous as the vibrant, but it works as a phone.
When ever I have the phone on the volume will keep turning up stopping me from doing anything on the phone. I tried restarting it and it has been fine for about 4 months and not covered by warranty since bought from someone has anyone else seen this problem.
If so how could I sort it out. It has had a custom rom and hspl from when I bought it meaning it was fine when he had it as well but now the phone just won't stop turning the volume up.
Thanks if you can help!
I wouldn't know, but it sounds to me your 'volume-up' button 'hangs'.

This is the weird thing the rock switch is fine. Guess may just have to take it in for repair or sell it and get the HD7
Loved this phone
"My stuff doesnt work, ah well too bad i'll just send it on ebay"
I hope ur being 100% transparent and warning potential buyers...
I much prefer the old style of presentation of the HD2 than HD7, plus i love physical buttons So will never switch my HD2 for HD7, even if it was possible to do so for free
The volume buttons may be misaligned/shorted by some conductive residue. If you're up to it, open us your phone and peel out the white portion above the volume buttons, cleaning the contacts with alcohol and realigning the metal buttons if necessary. Just be careful not to over-bend the flexible ribbon cable that attaches the volume buttons to the mainboard. This should solve your problem.

I was gutted with it when it broke but I am sending it to one of them useless recycle places through o2.
I hate the capacative buttons and HD2 for me was awesome but I just can not be bothered it opening it or getting it repaired. I mean everything else is in great condition just I think some water or something got between the rocker.
Damn snow
same problem with the volumn keep turning up
i'm having the same problem like yours. also i have the HD2 for a couple years . it' just starts to act up now. it's very frustrating. did anyone fix this problem?
I have my lumia 800 for a week, and now its happening something strange.. When i'm in a call for some time, and i want to end it the phone doesn't let me. Its still responsive, i can go to the start screen, etc.. but the phone call remains on top with the message "ENDING". After a couple of minutes the phone freezs completely and reboot.
Someone had the same problem??
It's not happening always, but it's frustrating... I was having such a pleasant use and then this happens.. and i'm becoming a little sad and worried.
I dont's know if its a problem of hardware, it seems software because doesn't occur always.
Thoughts?

Yes, I also had some similar kind of problems today, i could not answer the call, after they called me about 5 times i could, but then could only speak a few words before the call stopped. Also i saw the call was still running after the caller had hung up. I wanted to retart the phone, but it would not start up again, then i took it loose from the charger , and it beeped and after a while it started up again by itself. After that it worked oke again.
I think they have to look seriously at the software, there is something wrong here i believe.
I've also had this problem of calls not ending on occasion. It seems inconsistent so far though. I'd be interested to hear if this seems to be affecting everyone or if it's only a small number of handsets.
I have the same prb. The screen goes blank and cant end calls. Has to force restart

For all WP7 devices the screen automatically goes blank when you are on a call and the proximity / light sensor detects your head up to the phone. However, if the screen stays off when you move your head away from the phone it means your proximity sensor (or software related to it) is faulty as it still thinks you have the phone to your head.
This happened to my HD7 after a nasty drop on a tiled floor the other day; the sensor was dislodged and permanently was set to the "on" position. I could only end a call by pulling out the battery, unless the other party hung up first. And every time my alarm went off in the morning the screen would remain dark and I would have to press the power button to get at the snooze button (this is because the sensor is telling WP7 that the phone is in a pocket or somesuch, and not to turn on the screen as the alarm could be accidently disabled or snoozed).
I fixed it by dismantling the HD7, resettling the sensors and blowing out as much dust as I could. Has been working fine since! I wouldn't recommend doing the same for your Lumia 800 though...
I dont think it is a proximity sensor issue. In doing tests, the sensor works perfectly for calls if I only have the screen off for a short period of time. If I hold the device up to my face for say 30 seconds, then the device usually freezes up and the screen goes blank, not allowing me to end a call. This makes me believe that it is a software issue that, hopefully, nokia can sort out.
Well i have been quiet on this topic as i wanted to see if the update fixed this problem BUT NO.
Today i made a call and it didnt ring but said connected i then pressed end and nothing it didnt respond infact none of the keys did anything my lumia just froze.
I couldnt even turn it off so i took the sim out and nothing still conected i just had a phone that was frozen with no way out .. so i had a usless lumia all day at work untill the battery died..I HAD NO PHONE ALL DAY !!!
I just hope it was not connected properly or my bill will be huge from t-mobile ..
This has happened a few times befor the update and always always when the signal is quite low it seems ..
But its a joke when im stuck with a usless phone all day ..
NOKIA SORT THIS OUT ITS NOT ACCEPTABLE
Hopefully this is a software issue and we haven't all received a bad batch of lumias with wonky proximity sensors.
Is there absolutely no way of reseting / rebooting the Lumia? you just have to wait for the battery to die??! That seems ludicrous!
i face the same problem many time i reset the phone by pressing power key long.
i find if i was in 3G network this problem some times happen ,so i switch off 3G and now it more than 3 days it never happen
Well to answer that question ...no its happened nine times last week, 3 of those 9 the phone is usless and you have to wait for the battery to die..maybe that's why Nokia gave us a short battery life haha, the other 6 times after about 7 min you can turn it off to reboot and the rest of the phone is responsive .. So 30% of the time when it happens U have no phone :[ even a long press of the power button does nothing
Same problem here... You can restart the phone btw: Hold power button for 10 sec, then release the power button and press it again...
This is a big problem for me, hope a fix comes in fast...
Thanks,
Samo
Im having the same issues here. Other than this its a great phone. Hopefully get it sorted soon.
same problem here, although never had to wait for battery to die.
long hold of power (10sec+) usually reboots the phone.
I keep noticing the problem when changing locations (inside/outside buildings) which is usually connected to switching to 3g - if it happens during a call I am unable to end it with screen being responsive and phone saying that it is ending call (for 30 seconds and more)
contacted Nokia regarding this problem.. they told me to reset my handset.. this is the only option they have... DUMB
same problem here... did someone find any solution?
nopes........

You can hold the power button for 10 seconds, this will trigger a reboot.
I'm relatively often facing the same issues, worth noting is that it does seem to connect the call as I have had customers tell me they heard me grumbling before the call got disconnected (so I gotta be more careful with grumbling )
Happened to me last night, just turned the phone off (power for a few secs then slide down) and on again.
Hey,
Got my new Lumia 800 (RM-801) Black yesterday (Orange PL Branded). Wonderful phone.
But there is a huge issue:
When i recive or make a call this will happen:
1. Screen will freeze - Black screen, cant hang up, cant turn off nothing
2. Screen freeze the caller can hear me but i cant hear anything.
So i cant hang up, the phone is frozen until other side hangs up.
I have the latest software update: 12070 but nothing happened the problem is still there:v
i tried numerous times of factory reset, backup recovery, setting everything. I dont even have any screen protector to block the Light senzor (The senzor must works because auto brigtness regulation works great). I cant even debrand phone because the Nokia Support Tool shows im up to date and dont give me any option to flash any firmware.
Tell me what can i do ? When i get my lumie to Service i will be withour phone for month and thats SUCK big time.
Hope there is some solution.
I finally got my phone Unbranded , but problem is not solved.
Same problem. Got Developer Gift Lumia 800.
Same issues until i took the plastic film from the front of my lumia
Now i do not have a single issue....
Haha hope this helps
Don't have any film on the screen
I've also experienced my phone freezing while making a call.
Hasn't happened often (3 times), but that isn't a good indication of the seriousness of the problem, as I don't use out often to call (have the luxury of using the Lumia as my 2nd phone).
I believe that in my case it occurs after my phone is on for an extended period (hardly using it, with flight mode activated) and then making a call.
I've reported my problem here:

I' experiencing some delay when I press power button to wake the phone. The backlight turns on but it takes a second and half to display my lock screen picture and info. I'm running RainbowMod 1.0, going to upgrade to 1.2 when free time to test if it fixes. Anyone else experiencing it? Stock or custom ROM?
Yea man, happened to me on stock, tango full unlock, and rainbow also. i got used to it though
yeah....happened on my device too...backlight turns up but takes a couple of seconds before it displays lock screen pic....had this on my stock ROM and unlocked tango ROM too.!!!
My gf's 710 has it as well. Not a big deal but Nokia could definitely do something about it...
Sent from my Lumia 800 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I can sometimes notice it on my 800 as well, when in a dark room. You see the buttons light up, but the screen takes slightly more. However, I'm talking about fractions of seconds, not about more than one second.
i think this is due to the tft lcd the 710 has. it need the backlight to start showing. this one of therasons i sold my 710 and bought an 800
Happens on my T-mobile 710 running stock 7740. I noticed it right out of the box - coming from the LG Quantum. Never had this issue with the Quantum.
Flashed the official tango rom 8773 from Rogers and the issue is still the same, no difference.
Anybody got a fix for this problem?
Don't think there is a fix.
Sometimes the lag is really bad, talking 3-5 seconds, sometimes no lag, sometime .5-1 second.
really annoying, hope Nokia can fix this.
