It's happened 3 times (mornings) where my note 3 froze and became almost unresponsive and laggy, and the worst, alarm didn't go off. Not sure what's going on. The phone works fine even after I set the alarm, but something happens during the night or when it's about to go off, and freezes, forcing me to do a hard reboot to clear it. I also set volume to mute, which shouldn't matter. I have no other issues with the phone except for this weird bug.
Anyone experienced something similar?

I've had it happen a couple times when the phones been on for a couple days without a reboot.
Finally, just did what I did with Note 2. Titanium backup at 3am daily and reboot the phone automatically after the backup. Haven't noticed behavior since. I suspect a misbehaving app, but haven't taken the time to run down the problem.

So I can't post in the developer section yet but, I have noticed a problem since flashing to the EC10 kernel. If I have messaging open and in a message if I hit the power button to put the phone e to sleep it crashes and reboots.
I was running, Super Clean 2.9, DL09, EB16, no voodoo
I wiped all data, cache and dalvik cache, then using clockwork flashed the kernel then super clean again.
Now I'm running SuperClean 2.9, DL09, EC10, no voodoo and have the problem?
I'm going to try and reflash everything tonight, just wondering if anyone else expierenced this? I can repeat the problem over and over so its not just a random fluke.
*edit*
So I can crash the phone about 75% of the time, sometimes usually by trying to put the phone to sleep with a program open.
*edit*
So after deleting that particular conversation the problem no longer occurs. Not sure what the deal was.
Im thinking it had something to do with a mms file you recieved or sent

So I spoke to soon, the problem occurs in other things besides messaging.
My phone crashed 20+ times today. I can pretty much cause it crash on purpose at this point. It will almost always crash if I try and put it to sleep without returning to the home screen before putting it to sleep, or before it puts itself to sleep. If I return to the home screen first it really doesn't do it. When it goes to sleep the menu, home, back, search buttons all light up, but the screen is off, if I'm on the phone or have music playing, that continues for 10-15 seconds, then the boot animation appears, and it has restarted.
I do have the log files to if that would help anyone?
I'm so relieved I'm not the only one experiencing this! I was beginning to think that my phone was physically broken or something.
Like Ohio I'm experiencing lots and lots of crashes and restarts when I hit the power button to turn the screen off and even sometimes when the screen goes off on its own, and this happens on SC2.9.2 for me, but I also think it was happening on AOSP with an EC10 kernel, though I'd written it off at the time as a fluke before it started happening every few minutes on SC.
I can make it crash very frequently by pressing the power button while I'm watching a Youtube video or if I am at the glass swipe lockscreen and I press the power button while holding the phone upside down to turn the screen off. Very strange. In addition, it also does it seemingly randomly throughout the day, and it actually did it again not 3 minutes ago for no reason at all as it was just on the homescreen.
I have no recollection of this ever happening before EC10, and I've tried multiple EC10 kernels with UV and standard voltage as well as multiple ROM installs after complete wipes, all of which produce similar results.
I don't know if it's related, but I've also been experiencing freezes where the screen stays on but becomes completely unresponsive, save for the touch keys which will still flash but not make the haptic feedback work. I have to do a battery pull to get it to work again. I can make THIS happen merely by browsing the Reddit Is Fun app for about five minutes, which it has never, ever done before, but I've also had it freeze up on me at other times as well, including two minutes after a SC install where I was just signing into the Market.
I'm going to go back to an EB kernel and see if things go a little better. Are there others out there having these issues with EC10?
I went back to Superclean 2.9.0 with its stock EB01 kernel, and I've had no more issues with the crashes and resets at screen off.

I'm not having these issues. Try to fix permissions and wipe the dalvik cache (under advanced in CWM).

Champion thread to remove the issues you've got - especially ones that are tough to track down.
Swyped on my Fascinate - please excuse any swypo's...
This doesn't really address the issue at all.
That link doesn't address this issue at all.
For months, I've been having a problem with the ringer auto-adjusting itself.
At work, I turn the volume down to level 3, and when I leave, I turn it back up to 6. About halfway through the day, I'll get a text, or a call, and my ringer is back up at level 6 all by itself. I find I have to re-adjust the volume a couple of times a day to keep it low.
Then when I leave work, within a few minutes of turning the volume back up, it returns to 3. It will do this a couple of times a night, and even on the weekends. It doesn't seem to have a regular time where it does it, but it happens almost every day. I can't tell you how many calls I've missed because of this.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix for it, or is it being caused by an app, or what? Doesn't matter what rom I'm running, it just keeps happening.
I've experienced this too on Infected 1.4.2 and 1.5 (sense 3.0) and Synergy Roms. Can't remember if i've seen this in stock and I haven't tried any other roms... It just hasn't affected me to the point where I cared...
I don't remember if it happened stock or not, but it has happened on Synergy, Infected, and now Warm. I just can't figure it out.
mine does the same thing bro.. im not rooted.. stock..
Maybe it's an app causing it?
still cant figure it out?? its drivin me crazy!! ill have the volume down all the way some one will call and its full blast.. ****s gona blow my speaker!
Do you have a list of your apps? Maybe everyone having this issue have a common app installed.
Pocket mode on?

I noticed some ringtones play on media volume while others play on phone volume. Just thinking, but I do remember having a control issue where my media volume kept reseting to a default level randomly.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Pocket mode was turned on, but I don't believe that had anything to do with it.
I may have figured it out when it does it though. Every time I make or receive a call, the volume goes back up. I just tested it by making 3 calls in a row, and every time I hung up, the ringer volume was back up. I would turn it down, make a call, and it's back up again. I just wish I could figure out why it's doing that.
I am using CM7 latest weekely every thing is perfect but now suddenly my phones screen turns on like call is coming and turns back off after 2 sec and this happens randomly.
is this expected behavior?
is there any work around?
My fiancee has an atrix that is totally stock and hers just started doing this yesterday. I would also like to know the answer to this. I was thinking it was a hardware issue with the power button but hopefully i am wrong, that way I dont have to mess with a warranty exchange. Any help would be appreciated.
by any chance have u just start using this app "Memory Booster - RAM Optimizer" if yes then this might be the one, i have just messed around in its settingsd and no screen wakup problems so far

No. The only apps that I think might cause this that I have on her phone is beautiful widgets and a data toggle. She has had these apps on there for awhile and the phone just started to act up.
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Both me and my brother own atrix and it happens on both.It was happening on stock 2.3.4 and now on cm7 as well it must be something with the phone not a rom related issue
i also have beautiful widgets, can sk8trix conform that his and his brother phone have this app too. if yes then this might be the cause. or we have to tell each other whole list of apps that we have installed to narrow down the culprit.
On her phone I have all of her apps that are supposed to sync turned off. I recently installed data enabler for her so she would have a data toggle on her home screen. I use advanced task manager to kill her apps by force stopping them. Last night I used it and closed everything and turned her screen off. 5 minutes later it come on for about two seconds and shut off. I have been looking at what apps might be causing this and really dont see anything unusual except for the data enabler and beautiful widgets. I will uninstall both of those and report back later on to let you know the result. Hopefully someone else will come along with a better solution.

I don't use beautiful widgets ever.....I even tried with a clean install no apps installed except stock cm7 apps and google apps and it still happened so I gave up trying to figure it out.
it doesn't shorten my battery life at all so I don't worry however if there is a fix I will use it because it is annoying.
Edit the only time the phones wake up by themselves is right after we hit the power button to turn the screen off or when the phone firat boots and is still locked it will turn the screen off and turn it back on the dim again.
I dont think its cm7 issue cos i was at weekly # 4 and there was no issue then i flashed tuch recovery and after that boot it started happening. Then i flashed latest weekely and reverted back to old recovery. And i agree this only happen when i turn screen off (randomly)
OK here is where I am at now with this problem. I uninstalled both apps and it seems to be ok for the time being, but my fiancee told me she had been receiving weird messages in her notification bar. I looked into it and she was getting ads in her notification bar. So I downloaded AirPush Detector from the market and ran a scan on her phone and it detected a couple of apps pushing notifications. I got rid of the apps and now im back to checking the phone again. I dont know if that AirPush app would help you guys out or not but it would hurt to try.
since i have started this thread my problems have gone away like a little *****, and i dont know how to recreate this problem any more so i am stuck with no problem no solution thing.
12 hrs passed no problem so far.
It was apps in the background running. Airpush helped. I told her from now on no more free apps, i would rather buy them then fight this **** again. I put the data toggle and beautiful widgets back on her phone and it's ok. Thanks for your guys input.

I am having The same problem with my Samsung Galaxy ace Gt-5830i.
Earlier it had problems with charging and SD card. So we took it to authorized service center. And they said they had formatted the phone and installed stock ROM on it. They also replaced the charger port. But now after two days the phone screen is turning on and off at repeated intervals (for about 2 Seconds). So what might be the problem.
Hello all, I've noticed that my S3 gets considerably slow after a few days of not shutting it down. For example, after a reset, tapping home will immediately take me to the launcher, everything reacts immediately, there's absolutely no lag, however, after about 2 or 3 days, things start getting slow, the launcher needs to reload everything whenever I press home, apps don't seem to stay in the memory and have to reload as well. Like I mentioned, restarting the phone fixes everything, and I was even thinking of setting up a Tasker action to restart the phone ad midnight or so every one or two days, but I wanted to know if this could be because of a single app that's being faulty, or normal behavior. Any and all replies are appreciated!

thats normal behaviour on most android phones, unless u have 2gb of ram(still happens but takes longer)
its better if you reboot at least once a day

My One freezes on me and completely locks up from time to time, mostly when using the browser. It seems that it has been happening more and more frequently. When it happens, I have to keep jamming the home button to get out of it. I always reboot right after it happens hoping to clear it up but sometimes it happens again within an hour or so. It happened on my first One too but I thought it might have had something to do with the ROM I flashed. I'm stock rooted on this one and it is still happening. Does this happen to anyone else?

I haven't had the phone completely freeze, but have noticed the stock browser will hang up. I am however, able to just press the home button, then enter recent apps menu to close the browser.
Sorry to not have the same exact problem, but that has been my experience thus far. I'm sure it's just a small bug.

Weird things happen on mine while I have flash player active... I have no problems with enable flash player unchecked in the menu. I only activate it when I really need it which is rare anyway. The browser doesn't need to be restarted after activating it, it just refreshes the page so it not really inconvenient to leave it off until I need it.
Mostly some rogue app.. Just give a list of apps you have and we (users without randoom reboots or hangs) will point out the apps which we have not installed so that you can narrow down to the issue-causing app
I'm having a similar problem
My htc one crashes & reboots a few and even sometimes several times a day. Once in awhile I'll even have to boot from recovery mode as the phone has trouble restarting. It also starts do a bunch of screen captures as a restarting message appears. I've done a factory restart and still experiencing the same problem. I love this phone but am getting so frustrated. Bought my girlfriend the same phone she has never experienced this issue. I think it is either a problem with an app I have installed or possibly an overheating issue (I work outside in the sun, my phone gets pretty warm in my pocket). I'm close to doing a warranty exchange, just hoping its an app problem.
Sounds like an app to me. My last phone did that when an app would crash.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Maybe it's some applications conflicting with one another. Or a bad app.
I am stock. No root. I got my htc one before the official launch and it has not froze up or did random reboots. Knock of wood.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
I don't think it's an app. I've deleted a whole bunch and froze others and it still happens to me all the time. I have nothing on my One that isn't on my One X and the One X has never frozen on me, EVER. One thing I've noticed is it only happens when using data- stock browser, Chrome, and Pulse news. It doesn't happen any other time. I drove from Colorado to Kansas yesterday and it must have frozen up on me 10-15 times during the entire 8 hour trip. It's getting really frustrating. When I have time I am going to nandroid and wipe and see if it happens on a bare phone, but my money is on that it will.
