Ringer volume auto-adjusts? - HTC EVO 3D

For months, I've been having a problem with the ringer auto-adjusting itself.
At work, I turn the volume down to level 3, and when I leave, I turn it back up to 6. About halfway through the day, I'll get a text, or a call, and my ringer is back up at level 6 all by itself. I find I have to re-adjust the volume a couple of times a day to keep it low.
Then when I leave work, within a few minutes of turning the volume back up, it returns to 3. It will do this a couple of times a night, and even on the weekends. It doesn't seem to have a regular time where it does it, but it happens almost every day. I can't tell you how many calls I've missed because of this.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix for it, or is it being caused by an app, or what? Doesn't matter what rom I'm running, it just keeps happening.

I've experienced this too on Infected 1.4.2 and 1.5 (sense 3.0) and Synergy Roms. Can't remember if i've seen this in stock and I haven't tried any other roms... It just hasn't affected me to the point where I cared...

I don't remember if it happened stock or not, but it has happened on Synergy, Infected, and now Warm. I just can't figure it out.

mine does the same thing bro.. im not rooted.. stock..

Maybe it's an app causing it?

still cant figure it out?? its drivin me crazy!! ill have the volume down all the way some one will call and its full blast.. ****s gona blow my speaker!

Do you have a list of your apps? Maybe everyone having this issue have a common app installed.

Pocket mode on?

I noticed some ringtones play on media volume while others play on phone volume. Just thinking, but I do remember having a control issue where my media volume kept reseting to a default level randomly.

Pocket mode was turned on, but I don't believe that had anything to do with it.
I may have figured it out when it does it though. Every time I make or receive a call, the volume goes back up. I just tested it by making 3 calls in a row, and every time I hung up, the ringer volume was back up. I would turn it down, make a call, and it's back up again. I just wish I could figure out why it's doing that.

[Q] Settings Auto Reset

I am wondering if anyone else is having an issue where after making setting adjustments (such as ring tone, or screen brightness), once being plugged in for charging, there settings are reverted back or simply enough...changed.
Ive been having this issue and clawing at every possible solution. any suggestions anyone?
Have not had this issue. Are you stock?
no im not stock. im rooted. however ive never had a similar issue with this before. and it did this before root.
For me it's the System Volume
Yes! I have noticed this too. I keep setting my System Volume to about 50%, and it just randomly gets reset back to 100%. I can't figure out of it is an app that is changing it or if turning the phone off and back on does it, or what. It's very annoying.
Hopefully we can determine what's causing it, or if it's a bug and we need Samsung/T-Mobile to fix it.
Your volume is problably from Maps. Everytime I used Google Maps my volume went from whatever I had it set to to 100%
I was having problems with everytime I turned my phone on my animations went from none to full. Drove me crazy. I ended up switching my rom from Stock to Vibrant6 and the issue went away. I haven't tried going back to the first Nandroid Backup I made to see if it was a stock problem or if it was something I installed.
I do recall that after I played with my Font it started happening. Of course I'm not sure if that caused it or not.
I have had this problem ever since Clockwork recovery. if I reboot to do a nandroid my fonts go back to default however whatever i have chosen (ie choco) is still highlighted. the system volume changes at the same time too.
i asked over at cyanogenmod and i seemed to be the only one.
i was about to post a thread about this too lol. mine isn't rooted. i had my ringtone on the silent one, but all of a sudden i hear the tmobile jingle. i was confused cause i had it on the silent ring tone. also have this issue: once i get a text my lockscreen stays on, it doesn't turn off or anything.
I have the issue with ring and notification tones getting changed back to default.
It doesn't seem to matter where I store them.
my phone is rooted, but no other mods

[Q] Lite'ning No Screen Time-Out?

I've just flashed the Lite'ning Rom v1.5 and all is fine apart from the screen time-out...
The screen doesn't automatically go into time-out/suspend/lock unless I press the power button . I've checked the setting and tried setting it to 15sec, 30sec etc, but it doesnt seem to be working?
Had anyone else come across this? Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Do you have Titanium Backup installed? I had this when Titanium had been running.
Reboot of the phone sorts it out, but it would happen again after the next scheduled Titanium Backup.
I am using often titanium and never had this issue.
Another possibility, have you plug headphones? Try remove them.
Same issue, no clue whats causing it. It doesnt happen all the time either, it is intermittent.
Me too... usually - it happens not really often - this is when I am arriving at my office after listening andro radio, I cut data connection and I am listening mp3 instead because data is not reachable inside the building. In that situation, I need to unplug my headphones and things go alright for the rest of day
Litening ROM is launching music play when headphones are plugged.
Mmmm...well for the past couple of days the screen time-out seems to be working?! I've not changed a thing!....don't think its anyting to do with headphones as I've not been listening to music or radio.
Did find another glitch the other evening when I woke to find my phone (which had been left on charge) very warm and not charging?? Quick reboot sorted it but another gremlin none the less!

Odd Behavior?

I'm rooted. I have SPB 3D Shell and about 80 app's. I love the phone and I usually just listen to Pandora or ZumoCast. The last 3 days, I have, for the most part, not touched the phone.
Yesterday, it started freezing between screen. When I try to go back to home screen, it was black. I had to press and hold the home button until latest open apps came up, then select home? I got rid of SBP 3D with no success.
Now, here is a real kicker. I bring up my last dialed numbers. Lets say, for instance, I want to call Joker (Had to pick on someone). I will press that, nothing. I will press it again, nothing. I press it again, nothing. I get mad and put it down. the next time i turn the screen on, it will dial joker. I hang up, it immediately dials him again. I hang up, again it will call him! Once for each time I hit the button. When I make calls, it could take me 45 seconds to hang up!
I rebooted. I removed the battery, soft reset. I'm lost! If I was doing something or recently installed an app, that would explain it. Wed she was my baby, Thurs she went to he** and I have no clue?
Think it's kernel lag... I been having those issues also.. From stock to skinny to cm7...

but I swear to you, I have sent @ 30 text and made exactly 9 phone calls. Nothing else, no news, no stocks, no banking, no pictures, notta (I have been busy at work, but damm)
Any clue how to fix said "Kernel lag?"
I also had a lot of lag at one time and was able to isolate it to GoWeather. I've been using GoLauncher for a while and thought I'd try their weather app. Soon after, I started having serious lag with everything so I got rid of GoWeather and all is well again. Perhaps SPB has a similar problem with one of their add-ons?
Well folkes, dont ask me who, what, why, where, or how. SPB 3D Shell somehow automatically restarted (No, I did not power off/on the phone?) and as of last night, phone was 100% back like nothing ever happen in the first place?
All I did was plug it in Satruday AM, made one call in the afternoon, plugged it back in, made work call from 1:00AM-5:00AM Sunday, plugged it back in, heard text notification @5:00PM, unplugged and noticed that SPB 3D was on, flashed thru the different panels...............back to normal?
I did not think about it until just now with beartrap's post, I mentioned I turned off SPB 3D, when I did that, my Weather & Toggle Widget disappeared from my home screen? I left it that way as I did not feel like playing with phone the was it was acting. Then, as stated above, out of the blue, everything was back to normal.
I had some problems with spb after the last update. Haven't been using it for about a week now.

Now that you mentioned it, 12/08/2011, latest SBP and Weather Toggle Widget Update is EXACTLY when I started having issues (slowness & freezing) but it did not go full blown cahos until the 15th.
Looking back now, I do remember off-&-on moving between panels, it would freeze for a second then reload SPB 3D, then go to home screen? I just never thought to look?
Lastly, because I have Sprint and the fact that i'm lazy and hate the automatic notifications, all my app's are set to Auto Update, so pin point a culprit......I will change it back tonight.
Still odd though, how both of them turned themself back on?
Anyway, thanks everyone.
It's back, started last night, not full blown, but the on/off again freezing, slowness between the screens, sometime it will not move at all. Then all of a sudden its cool for 20 minutes or so, then again.

All three of my replacements have behaved in the same manner; therefore, I am sure now that these issues are software related. In my case, I've narrowed it down to Go Launcher, Smart Keyboard Pro, or Enhanced Email. Are you using any of those apps?

No, but I am using SBP 3D Shell?
I really liked SBP Shell too; however, it would often FC so I deleted it 2 replacements ago. Since I'm still having problems, I know SBP was not the source of all of them.
SPB shell is God awful and any issues your photon is having is directly related to spb shell 3D. Its too much of a resource hog and i still don't think its ready for prime time. Is rather use the stock launcher seriously. Go launcher is terrible as well. Try adwEX.

Persistent Silent Mode - Help!

I just purchased a used Razr XT910 (Rogers) from Best Buy and started setting it up today. At one point, I used the volume buttons to mute the phone, and then things started acting up. The phone is now in persistent 'silent mode.' No matter how much or often I press the volume up button, within seconds the phone will mute itself. Even when I go into Settings and uncheck 'Silent Mode,' it will be checked again almost immediately. The phone is basically unusable now and I am very frustrated.
All I've done to the phone so far:
-no apps apart from what came stock have been installed
-tried turning off the phone and then on (no change)
-tried doing a factory reset, but it dumped me into AP Fastboot (why???)
-setup my Google account
-a few settings have been changed, ie. haptic turned off, vibrate turned off, etc.
-the volume buttons work and aren't stuck
The phone is running Gingerbread 2.3.6 and is from Rogers. Apparently, the phone was tested as working from Best Buy. Is this a hardware or software issue? Should I try doing another factory reset, even though last time it put me into fastboot?
Any suggestions or solutions?
it is strange try another reset and if it put you in fastboot there is an option from there to reset, i dont remember it though, google or youtube it
Well this might sound weird but push on the speaker location. A couple batches of RAZR have an issue (mine included) where the speaker contact comes loose and pressing on the speaker helps make the connection again.
Here is just one of the many threads on it https://vzwsupport.jive-mobile.com/#jive-discussion?content=/api/core/v2/discussions/772234

i don't think his problems with the speaker.. he seems to be referring to the volume option that keeps putting itself into silent mode..

Are you by any chance using the SmartActions or Tasker?
If you are using ICS you can go to Sound -> Volumes and set the ringtone volume from there.
Thanks for the replies, everyone. On Saturday, I decided to try a factory reset through Android again. This time, it reset the phone as it should have. I've been testing the phone (by muting and unmuting, etc.) since then, and it seems that the silent mode problem is now fixed. It looks as though it just needed a proper reset.
I love this phone by the way .

Frozen and laggy after alarm set

It's happened 3 times (mornings) where my note 3 froze and became almost unresponsive and laggy, and the worst, alarm didn't go off. Not sure what's going on. The phone works fine even after I set the alarm, but something happens during the night or when it's about to go off, and freezes, forcing me to do a hard reboot to clear it. I also set volume to mute, which shouldn't matter. I have no other issues with the phone except for this weird bug.
Anyone experienced something similar?

I've had it happen a couple times when the phones been on for a couple days without a reboot.
Finally, just did what I did with Note 2. Titanium backup at 3am daily and reboot the phone automatically after the backup. Haven't noticed behavior since. I suspect a misbehaving app, but haven't taken the time to run down the problem.
