S2 stucked in boot after flash - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yo guys,
I got a S2 I-9100 and I flashed the new Siyah Kernel onto it via Heimdall. The Problem is that if i boot it, the Samsung logo and the Siyah logo appears but afterwards the screen turns black.
Its propably not turned off cos I can't restart it without removing the battery.
Download and Recovery still works. I tried to use the wipe data/factory reset, but that didn't worked.. actually nothing happened.
Also tried to flash the Original Kernel (KF3) but the Phone gets stucked in boot on the Samsung logo..
Would be nice if someone could help me

You may have a problem with rom not supporting your kernel. Get formatted system, cache, data and put dorimanx latest kernel onto your phone via recovery. From this point you should be able to flash any CM rom you can get. If it still persist, go for odin and lastest Samsung Official

Thanks for ur quick answer, I did format onto system, cache and data through recovery - mounts and storage, I guess thats right but when i want to install the dorimanx kernel it just says: can't open "....".zip (bad) and aborts the installation.

Neither one of them, just (bad)

well the only reason is that it didn't downloaded good, so redownload... or try with another sd card. or try to put the zip/rom in your internall sd. by going into recovery>format & mount>mount usb storage and now connect to your pc and drop the zip/rom into your sd card or internal sd :highfive:

Have fun ! I recommend you to get yourself USB jig and get onto WIP CM11 thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2523604
I think that dev needs some people to get everything tested, even though it's not even booting. But he shared a way to get log from the device at 7th page of the thread !

[Q] S2 not starting in Recovery mode, only download mode

Hi guys.
It all started from ROM Manager where I did click on delete a backup, then phone crashed.
When I did start it up again, the main boot screen (with yellow triangle) did show for few seconds and then nothing.
Then I have the symbol flat battery (even if plugged), but not showing as charging.
I did try to remove battery, wait, put it back, same problem.
The device does not log into Recovery mode, only in download mode.
I then did try to reflash the kernel (Siyah 3.3.3d) from Odin, which was successful, but still same problem, after few seconds showing the boot image (Samsung + root logo), same problem.
Do you have an idea what's wrong?
I did try my battery in another S2 and it shows 92% which is correct. I then suspected a kernel problem but looks like Odin flash is not solving the issue.
Thanks for your help, and I love this forum, it contains so much!

Looks like you might have to go to www.sammobile.com download a stock firmware and flash through odin. Then root it.
Thanks, I will try that now.

Humm, I did flash it successful with Odin, however, on startup, I have the Samsung boot annimation and then the big coloured S, but it won't go further.
Do you have any ideas?
Is there a way to wipe all from Odin?

Can you get to recovery?
If so, you can try to wipe cache and dalvik
and if that doesnt work, try to wipe data/factory reset.
Ohh I did not know I could reboot in recovery mode on a non rooted device.
OK I did wipe the cache and I didmange to go further the S logo.
Thanks very much for your help, it looks like phone did boot again.
So I kind of read not to use ROM Manager with any AOKP, is this correct?
What app should be used then to manage your roms?
Thanks,

Yea I wouldnt use rom manager period. I dont really know what you mean by managing your roms? You can just store them in your download folder/on your sd card and then reboot to recovery in cwm and flash through there.
Thanks kilometers4.
OK, so no need for ROM Manager, only doing things from CWM.
Any suggestion on tool to root the device and then having access to CWM?

No problem, glad to help.
If you're looking for a stable ICS rom, I'd suggest RootBox. That is if you're wanting to flash another rom.
I did enjoy so far Lite'ning ROM, and I really loved Resurrection, which is the one I did use until this morning where I had this problem.
I may give a go to the one you mentioned.
It's not easy to find what's suits you best, but it's part of the fun.
Finding an appropriate kerlnel and modem is not easy too

X10 mini (E10) bootlooping after Rom flash

Hello guys,
I've got an X10mini (E10) (second hand but should not branded)
I'm actually stucked in a bootloop. It happened after I tried flashing the miniCM7 ROM with CWM.
I've tried the wipe data/factory reset frome CWM but nothing happened
I've tried the recovery option from my previous backup
Nothing
I've tried reflashing the Stock Rom (found in one of Xda-developers thread)
And I still got a bootloop (with the Sony Ericson logo)
Could anyone help me? =)

Why don't you try a repair with SEUS or PC Companion, that will get you back to original.
You said you did wipe data/factory reset, but did you wipe cache and dalvick-cache too (second one in advanced menu in CWM), because they're filled with useless junk from your old ROM, causing many errors.

You don't have much choice i suppose, i'll give you the download link in a pm
Just download it, put it in the firmwares subfolder where flashtool is installed and flash it to your phone, it will take a while because it flashes everything (kernel and rom), but i hope it will help you

I saw your thread.
I also have an x10 Mini and got stuck in a bootloop (colors swishing around on screen). I rooted, installed xrecovery - what shows up in the screen is cwm recovery v 5,0,2,8. I unlocked the boot loader, flashed this Kernel using flash tool (an older version): U20_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14.ftf I tried to downloand nAa 11 but 14 kept coming up, so I put that in the firmware file along with the stock Kernel. I forgot to install the drivers, but the flash tool said it was successful. After disconnecting and starting the phone "Ana" words not the symbol came up and the boot loop began. Alternatively, on start up, I can get into cwm recovery. I didn't save the rom or google app zip on my sd card as I assumed I could that after flashing the Kernel, but the bootloop makes impossible
My goal is to install Android Fire 2.3.
I would really appreciate any guidance.

You should be able to access the sd-card from your pc now and copy the ROM and maybe Gapps.

I don't know, apparently it worked fine when you connected it to your pc...
Maybe you could pull all your files off the sd-card to your pc, boot into cwm and format the sd-card (in mounts and storage), then reboot into the rom.
If that's all successful, put the files back on your sd-card.

What would happen if I select "apply update from sd card". This is the second option under CWM recovery.
Should I restore from Nanadroid. i s this necessary?
Could partitioning the sd card help? Thanks again!

The 'Apply Update.zip' does exactly the same thing as the 'Install zip from sd-card', but the first option only works for zip-files named 'update.zip' in the root of your sd-card, the second option will let you browse the sd-card and select a zip-file with any name. The second option is the one you use to install your ROM.
Restoring from nandroid, just fills your internal phone-memory with the old stuff you had in there, it won't affect your sd-card, other than that it reads the nandroid from that sd-card.
Your sd-card needs to be formatted with the fat-filesystem to work properly, so partitioning or not makes not much of a difference, only that the available space for your stuff (music, photo's, etc.) is less because the other partitions take up space too.
If you can flash your ROM in CWM from sd-card I don't really see any problem with your sd-card.
worked like a charm. many thanks!

I wanted to format my phone cause it was almost full, so i format it, but it doesnt work and i got the same space free.
So i tried to do it manually in Recovery Mode, i formated some stuff, but i formated something like: Format Pre-Load (or something like this) and some more stuff, if im right that was only data/cache etc, and system to.
But now my phone wont reboot....
Help!!!
Phone connects to Odin only, i tried to flash the file i use to rooted my phone again, but i get: FAILED.
Srry for bad English....
Hey guys,
I have a similar problem after attempting a root on my Galasxy i9001T.
I used Odin following the instructions on this thread,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414, I've gotten as far as using Odin 1.83, using the GT-I9100T_DUKF2_original.tar as my insure kernel. Odin gave me the green light "OK" and I waited for my phone to boot upt.
My phone gets far as the initial "Samsung SII GT-I9100T" and stays there, there was no yellow triangle, which expected from the instructions. The phone recharges and is able to go into recovery mode, but is Odin is having trouble communicating to the phone via USB, it won't establish a connection, so I have a strange feeling that I've bricked my phone and need help to fix the problem if possible.
My phone model and kernel are below, any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

You should not have formatted preload. Why didn't you just format the internal sd card?? Anyway now you will have to flash official firmware with odin. you can find so many guides on how to do that
...and to format your system wasn't the best idea also

You cleaned everything boy even the Android OS
You just formated your whole phone you deleted your android os. you have to use ODIN to flash rom download some official firmware of some custom rom or if you have cwm download the rom transfer the zip to sd card or internal on your phone and flash it from cwm. And remember if you want to clean up your phone completly Just use factory reset in setting and if you want to delete all files in your internal sd check delete all files. Never format SYSTEM and PRELOAD
Now he's got a clean device alright.
I can just put a custom rom on it?
Using Siyah kernel, Philz, CWM or another? Does this matter?
Otherwise is put a rom on my sdcard and i put my sd in my phone and i flash it.
I putted a rom on my sd, installed it in Recovery Mode and its working again, thx for the support.

[Q] Phone won't boot, can access download and recovery mode.

Ok there, guys.
Before I start, yes I'm an idiot, yes I'm a huge noob, no I don't know what I'm doing.
Basically, I have a SGS2 and I was trying to install Cyanogenmod 10.1.
I used Heimdall to (flash?) install ClockworkMod Recovery and it worked.
I realised that I hadn't put the Cyanogenmod .zip on my phone before I installed CWM.
I got up to rebooting my phone so I could transfer the zip but after the Galaxy splash screen nothing happened.
The screen just stays black and doesn't do anything.
I can access Download and Recovery mode so that's good.
I only have access to a Mac at the moment so I have to use the Heimdall command line.
If anybody could help it would be great, thanks!

good luck

I flashed a 4.1.2 stock rom onto my phone but it still doesn't work.
I flashed the phone, it automatically rebooted, when the Samsung logo came up I took out the battery, went to recovery mode, wiped cache and full wipe, hit reboot and now it just stays on the Samsung logo, pulsing blue and what not.
I also did the same thing and instead of taking out the battery I just left it in there after the first reboot and the same thing happened.
How can I fix this?

[Q] Mount internal or ext SD card from Recovery

Hi guys,
I basically wiped my phone and completely forgot to copy the ROM I wanted to flash into my ext SD card. Now, the phone has no ROM to boot into and I need to be able to mount it onto Windows from within the recovery to be able to do it. I'm running CWM 6.0.2.7
Has anyone ever done this? What should I do?
Thanks
Wipe data doesn't mean format (like PC) it's just a factory reset
you can flash any official FW for your device by Odin
So it isn't possible for Windows to detect the phone in any way so I can copy the ROM into it?
It's possible by using ADB and push it
but why you don't boot up your device and copy it?
Use adb to push the file onto the card. Or remove ext. SD card and use a reader to copy it over.
Here is a good adb interface, it has easy push/pull where you just supply the two file paths and hit go,

I just re-flashed an original FW through Odin, rooted it back, re-installed CWM Recovery and now tried to flash a new rom, in this case, Foxhound and after it tries to reboot it comes back into CWM always... it never boots into the ROM..
Anyone has any clue why this would be happening?

The ROM? Just did and the same thing happens, boots up to Samsun Galaxy logo, then that "eye" logo then reboots again into CWM. At all times.
I just installed Omega just to try it out and it works, boots into the ROM, with Foxhound it doesn't even reach the Foxhound Logo, it reboots and goes back to CWM... Any ideas? I can't post in the Foxhound thread due to lack of posts
Flash stock Rom, and allow it to boot up properly before you do anything else....did you do that?

Yes, two times already. Then rooted, then flashed CWM Recovery then wiped data etc, flashed foxhound and same thing happens. Tried Omega and it boots into it, it's only Foxhound and I really wanted to try it...
I'm sorry this thread has derailed into another issue but thought it wasn't worth cluttering with yet another thread.
Is it possible to shut down the phone from CWM Recovery aside from doing a battery pull?
Could be a bad download. Try downloading again.
