Problems with AOSP ROMs on my Note II - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II
It seems like every AOSP ROM that I flash I always run into these problems.
- Choppy screen timeout fading animation, CRT animation, and auto brightness.
- Headphone audio will randomly stop working. Only way to fix this is to reboot the phone but it will happen again. Audio will usually stop after I close an app or open Google Now. This is not a problem with my headphones, I've tried multiple headphones and I get the same result.
- Bad quality album art on Google Play Music. Album art is in HD on Touchwiz ROMs.
- DSP Manager only working with Apollo and Google Play Music.
- Checkerboard artifacts on the bottom portion of the screen when scrolling through apps and opening the notification shade.
- When switching to SD in the YouTube app the quality will usually just get worse but the video looks pixelated.
- Live wallpapers aren't smooth.
If anyone has a fix for these issues please let me know.

-Turn off CRT. AB doesn't work all the time correctly. I had that issue too. Did you make sure to do a clean wipe of everything before going to an AOSP based rom?
-This happens due to notifications/other apps that use sound. Depending on what AOSP rom you are on there are a few workarounds. Or if you use PowerAmp you can mute notifications and that will fix it
-iTag might fix this
-? Depending on the ROM, flash a kernel that has audio tweaks and get something like viper or ACID. way better sound quality anyways
-Don't know
-Get OGYoutube
-Not all the wallpapers are sized properly. Pretty sure this is a cropping issue, similar to google play.

To fix the audio problem unplug your headphones, press play in the media player so sound comes out of the rear speaker, plug back in.
sound problem solution
To stop disappearing sound you have to disable the Voice Command listener in the Now Launcher. Google now - settings - voice - disable OK Google. And reboot.

[solved] screen brightness lowers when watching a video
does the same thing happen to anyone else? when i go play a video i recorded the screen dims and when i exit the video the screen gets brighter. samething happens when i open the internet browser and youtube. i was comparing images and videos with my brothers phone and his looked brighter than mine and my screen brightness was all the way up. i am running redruM lean stock rom version 2 or 3( not sure what version) for the tmobile. and i also have some mods like build.prop tweaks, sony bravia engine, forced hardware acceleration, moded media-profiles.xml and some other ones i cant remember. im on adamkernel3 when i am browsing the videos the seem bright but when i play them it seems dark. hope someone has a solution to this. thanks:good: ok so i found a solution: solution here so basically they each have their own brightness controls. just press the menu soft key and find brightness and disable automatic brightness and set it yourself.
Adjust Video Brightness on Setting (Play video, then hit option). Also for the browser, hit option while on internet. Unless you got 3rd party one. I was 8 min late

Poweramp displaying wrong song time
So I don't use the stock music player because I prefer PowerAMP. But there's a bit of an issue. When I'm scrolling through all my songs, it displays the right time, which is 5:34. But when I select it and its in the now playing screen, the time is now 7:48. Anyway I can fix it?
[Q] brightness problem?
So I downloaded a screen filter app of Google play and I've noticed that when I switch to full screen in the YouTube app and the play/pause button disappears the screen turns washed out. I don't remember it being like that before I got the app so I uninstalled it and that didn't work so I reset my phone but that still didn't work. It also happens watching videos off the internet in the stock video player. Is there a way to fix this or has it always been like that?
Gallery: Videos auto play and auto loop. Can this be turned off?
When I go into the gallery and click on the video it auto plays (without me hitting a play button) and then auto loops. I cannot for the life of me figure out a way to turn both these features off. thank you in advance.
Bump..... Anyone?
Pretty sure it's a built in feature of the gallery, not sure if it can be turned off
I actually likethe autoplay feature in my Samsung gallery app in my Galaxy Note 8. There is a speaker you can tap to get sound or turn off video sound. My gallery recently stopped autoplaying my videos, but a phone restart fixed that. I like this feature.
Bug rundown on stock ROM
So. I've had this phone for less than a week, and the amount of bugs I've found in the stock ROM is just staggering. Just want to know if these are really bugs from the OS and not a faulty unit. And if so, have you have found any workaround for any of them? Also, I'm placing here some fixes (if there are). So new people to the phone won't have to go all over the internet looking for a fix. 1) after unlocking the phone with fingerprint, sometimes the brightness goes to about 70% and stays there. Adaptive brightness won't lower it until you manually decrease it. -My fix: Disabled adaptive brightness and installed Velis from the play store. Configured the brightness pattern and there, problem solved. 2) audio sounds muffled in every app other than phone. -My fix: A factory reset fixed this issue for me. I believe it's a Google assistant related problem. 3) WhatsApp voice note audio recording quality is poor and volume is low, WhatsApp calls, however sound amazing. 4) (not sure if this is a bug) using hdr in the main camera really messes the image borders. Things appear to be way wider than they are. Using no hdr makes it a little less wide. Which is to be expected from wide angle lenses in phones. 5) when plugged to the charger, the screen brightness goes up. I've noticed that in a dark room, the brightness sensor value goes from 0 to 81 when the led turns on. A design flaw, maybe? 6) Copied text, and dragging folders in Solid explorer creates a ghost image of the thing in question. -Fix?: Close the app in the recent apps. Thanks to: @fetaiharbin 7) The on screen fingerprint sensor is painfully slow sometimes. -Fix?: Removing the animation on the fingerprint scan is actually a great way of saving around 1/2s every time. Procedure here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a3/how-to/guide-remove-fingerprint-animation-t3966514 And also, check this post for more tweaks. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a3/how-to/tweaks-features-xiaomi-mi-a3-root-t3976287 Are you experiencing any of these or got a fix for them ? Let me know! Don't forget the thanks button if this post helped you.
I can confirm 1 and 5 are bugs that were here day one bugs that never fixed. Also I'll tell you another one, copying texts will make them stick to screen.

Click to collapse I have this phone for like 2 months or so, and I do have the 1 issue where the brightness goes higher. I also have the 3rd issue where instead for example recording the song that I'm playing on my earphones, it records my voice instead. As per the copying and the text that gets stuck on the screen, you can remove that app where you copied from recent apps, and it'll disappear, but still that sucks. I've been waiting for Android 10, but it seems that I might have to flash MiUi and give it a try.

Click to collapse Can both of you confirm the WhatsApp recorded voice notes sounding muffled problem? For me, it's only on the WS voice notes. Using a voice recorder app I get clear recordings with very good quality. So I'm not thinking it's a hardware issue. Also. Check the first post for a fix on problem 1.
