[Q] TF201 Very Stuck - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I have a TF 201 that was having a bunch of issues. I went to do a wipe and it seems to have crashed mid wipe. Just froze for hours. After i tried turning it off and on again it wont get past the asus splash screen and wont even stay off. As soon as i try turning it off it turns on. It also wont boot to recovery by holding down power and volume. It just says ASUS in the center and the device is unlocked in the top left. any ideas would be great. thanks!

If you can't get to the bootloader menu or into recovery then you are hard bricked unless you made NVFlash backups before.

I've got the same problem
My ASUS tf201 running android 4.1.1 with firmware 10.4.2.18 is unlocked and rooted. I was trying to set it up to flash a new ROM when it would no longer boot into RCK. So I tried clearing it and now it restarts on switching off and sticks on ASUS splash screen. Simultaneously pressing volume down/on gets me into ASUS splash page(stuck again). Simultaneously pressing volume up/on gets me a blank screen and when connected to PC gets a tone and shows up in PC's device manager as "Android Phone/ASUS Transformer Prime APX Interface" but using abd it doesn't recognise devise.
HELP! I'm a noob, thanks

Same answer as above.

Hello. I too have a hard bricked TF201. It is stuck in APX mode from what I can tell (it is seen as that on the PC when I plug it in). it charges as well. I have made NVFlash backups, but I am having problems making them work. I am desperate. Please help

device bricked after being rom-ed with wrong rom

Hello!
A friend of mine has flashed his TF201 with the wrong ROM....he used a ROM for TF300T and the device has bricked...It only shows Asus logo and then it goes blank.
Since I'm not frmilliar with Android in tablets....he said that the tablet is recognised on PC after the power down/volume down keys pressed and then to APX mode. I think that he never used NVflash....
is there any possibility to reflash the device with the correct rom? get the tablet back working?
thank you

Can you get into the bootloader by holding down power and volume down? If so which version? You may be able to flash from a PC using fast boot.
Which ROM did he install?

He said the bootloader version is 10.4.2.18.
when he turns the tablet on it shows BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED, after that asus logo and then black screen. The device is found on PC in APX mode...
any suggestions?

Well APX mode is no use to him if he didn't do an nvflash backup of the necessary files before he updated it. You haven't said if he can actually get into the bootloader or not (has 4 icons after holding down power and volume down for 5 to 10 secs). If not then there is nothing you can do other than send it back to Asus for repairs.

So no option to unbrick my tf201?

Ive read and I think Ive came to the conclusion that I got a new boat anchor. Just wanted to see if anyone can confirm before I trash it.
Its a tf201.
Had 4.1.1
Used the asus unlock tool.
All went well
Went to install twrp
Rebooted fine.
Rebooted again went to asus logo with unlocked in the top left.
Its stuck there.
Cant enter recovery.
CAN enter APX
Did not install NVFLASH
Toss it?

Question:
How did you install TWRP and where did you get it ? What version of TWRP is it ? I believe there is the ICS and JB versions and there are specific version for TF201 as well.
Are you able to go to fast boot ? if so then you are not bricked yet. The way to install TWRP is to install it using fastboot.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/93
I got twrp from their site. I got the JB version. I cant get into fastboot. If I hold down volume while trying to boot it still just goes to the splash screen just like if I dont. I cant turn it off though. When I hold down power to turn it off as soon as it turns off it just trys to start again so Im not sure its registering the volume button or not.

If it helps any to know this I can turn it off now and still volume down and power does nothing.
The only thing that gets me anything different than the splash screen is to hold volume up and power.
Did you find a way to recover your tf201?
Hello lemayautocare,
Have you found a post/site, that explains how to recover you tf201? I'm having the exact same problem an the only additional information I can give you is that I notice that when I power it with the volume button up, the screen is black but my computer sees the device when I use lsusb. It doesn't show up when I power it up with volume button down.

Volume up and power puts it into APX mode. This mode is only of any use to you if you already have NVFlash backups.

[Q] tf201 stuck on ASUS screen

I know there are many threads saying that their Transformer Primes are stuck on the ASUS screen, and every one I saw didn't help me one bit. So I'm making this thread to tell you specifically what's wrong with mine.
In this order:
I rooted my tablet with motochopper and it worked just fine.
Then I unlocked my bootloader and tried flashing TWRP with this link.
I thought it worked, but then I ran into my current problem:
My tablet is stuck on the ASUS splash screen. "This device is unlocked" is at the top left and the NVIDIA logo at the bottom right.
And it's stuck...
When I hold the power button and +, it turns off.
When I hold the power button and -, it reboots.
My computer and ADB doesn't recognize my tablet.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO??? :crying:
And it's running Android 4.1.1
I don't have NVflash installed either.

[Q] HDX 7 stuck in boot loop

Help! I have a newer HDX 7 that is stuck trying to reboot. The device powers up to the gray kindle fire screen but sits there for a minute or so and then the screen flashes and it starts all over. The device does not recognize the power button. I've tried the hold the button for 40 seconds to reset but it just keeps going through this loop while holding the power button. When I connected it to my PC (Win7), it does not see the device. If I connect another Andriod device, it sees it imeadiately.
I'm a complete noob with this but I'm actually in IT, just not in this area. This is my sons device so I'm not sure exactly what he was doing at the time it started this but my guess would be playing MineCraft. Amazon's wonderful support says it just needs to be replaced but it's out of warranty. My son and I were just about to start an online coding course so I'd like to get this back up and running so we can start that. Any help would be appreciated. After searching the web, you guys seem to be the only ones able to root or fix any software/os issues with these devices.
Thanks,
Doug

Your options are limited given the device is largely invisible via tether (even then there would be little recourse as adb is probably disabled). Did you try a factory reset? Amazon's crippled recovery environment can be accessed via power + vol-up from a cold start. Release the power button after the gray Kindle logo appears. If the recovery menu comes up the only option is 'factory reset'. I realize you may not be able to access recovery given the non-responsive power button.
Any chance you son is old/savvy enough to trying rooting the device? The symptoms suggest either a failed automatic update (rare but it does happen) or botched attempt to root via the wrong method. Obviously a spontaneous hardware failure is also possible albeit unlikely.
Do you know what version of Fire OS was running just prior to the boot loop?
There is still a small chance adb may help even if the device is not recognized by Windows explorer. However, if as Davey said, it is disabled, things are limited.
Again, do you know what version is you were running?
Have you installed adb?
Have you tried recovery?

No, Unless it updated automatically, it was the same version that was on there when it was delivered around 4/14.
No, My son would not have tried rooting this on his own.
I was incorrect when I stated that the system wasn't recognizing the power button. When I try the hold the power button for 40 secs or the Power button + Vol up button to restart, the boot loop gets shorter.

I have installed ADB on my PC but it doesn't see the device (although I'm not sure I'm using it correctly). What command should I be issuing to see if the device is connected. If I use "adb devices" I get the response in the attached screen shot.
If by recovery, you mean the recovery on the device, the power+volume up button doesn't work.
I appreciate all of the help!

Given the delivery date and age of device I STRONGLY recommend you reach out to Amazon for a replacement vs trying to resolve on your own. A new version of Fire OS is currently rolling out which MAY have triggered the behavior you are seeing. Bit of a bummer given your son's course plans but a worthwhile delay IMHO.
I agree with Davey.
