That's pretty interesting I find that I get similar battery life with the stock ROM. I have the bell version as well.

Same here. In fact, I get better stats than that.
With WiFi and Bluetooth on and several accounts set to automatically sync, I can get over 48 hours of battery life with light usage (under an hour of screen time). I typically get 5 - 6 hours of screen time with moderate usage. More if I keep the brightness down.
This phone has amazing battery life out of the box. I feel no need to change ROMs or kernels. That said, if a new ROM/kernel could increase my battery life by an additional 25% or more, I might give it a whirl.

I'm pretty sure you must be right cuz these are the best ROM and Kernel for the G2. It's a shame the both got discontinued. I have just one question. When I flashed the kernel after flashing the CleanROM it restored some of my old stuff from my carrier's default ROM like the boot animation, some framework icons and some app icons too.
I wanted to know if there's a way of flashing Wootever's kernel without his happening. I got no clue of how the kernel did this or where was this data stored. If you have any idea on this topic I and could provide me with some info it would be great. Thanks in advance.

saurom wins best battery in my books
i went on a craze testing different roms specifically for battery life. the best battery i got was using saurom gb rom. 1.5 days!! i would say i was aiming for light/moderate usage at the time.
i got decent usage on seraphim ics rom, more on the heavy usage side when i was testing this rom. little over 12hrs. i love it graphically and how smooth ics is, but since im on my phone alot saurom suited my power taste better.
to save as much battery as possible, my config:
- antutu battery saver app
- brightness always at a minimum
- vibrate always off, silent at office, sound only everywhere else
- screen filter app in the dark
- wifi off (test purposes, its a given u'll save more when on wifi)
- auto sync off (im always on it so refreshing apps i need on the fly was good enough, i dont always need to know who emails or facebooks me every sec)

SCREEN ON time people. IMO the most important stat you can post for these battery threads. Who cares if you phone lasts 17 days...but the screen was only on for 5 mins.
My best is just over 4 hours. Haven't quite gotten that again tho.

Agree. Screen time should be 90% determination. Here are mine. I'll be able to get to 4 hours screen time with Juice Defender and RootDim.

I'm thinking about converting my OG to a N4 (I can live with only 8gb of internal since there's a fix for everything else). The only question I have is about the battery life on the N4 roms: how is it? I can go 2-3 days on a charge on my OG. Is it reasonable to expect the same on say, a CM10.1 based Mako rom after converting?

I bought the droid DNA a couple days ago and I have 10 days to decide wether or not I want to keep it. It sounds like Verizon won't be getting the HTC one so I'm trying to decide whether to buy the s4 or wait for the developers to unlock the 2.06 boot loader so I can root it. Opinions?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
It's really up to whether you like touchwiz or sense. And if you really need extra storage.
And keep in mind, the Verizon s4 will have a locked boatloader, so there's no telling how long you'll have to wait to root that. So I woildnt make rooting a deciding factor.

Its the battery life that's really getting me. I absolutely love the display and camera quality but only having 16GB of internal storage is holding me down. I only have around 60 apps installed, all of which I use, but I have more that I would like to install but can't because of the limited space. I love the DNA's well built body and everything about the way it looks, but having poor battery life and a small amount of storage is whats changing my mind. The S4 is such a high demand and popular smart phone that I doubt I would have to wait that long before somebody unlocks it.

The s4 has about the same battery life as the dna, maybe slightly better. What type of battery life are you getting on your DNA. It should be able to last all day with 3-5 hours of screen on time.

nice, what app is the one in the top left? is it gsam? but even if your stuck on stock this phone still has good bat life.
I'd wait it out a couple weeks for the S4. I have both to play with (thanks work) and I keep finding myself going back to the S4.
S4 over DNA
Better battery life, I'm even running the DNA on HSPA+ and it dies faster
Far better camera
I love blocking mode for at night, it works just like iOS do not disturb
Deeper Dev Pool for troubleshooting and hacks
Faster across the board
Will have a bootloader unlock solution almost day one.
MicroSD card for pictures and downloads
Multi color notification light
DNA over S4
Damn it's pretty
Great screen
HTC feels less bloated
More available storage because it is less bloated
Did I mention that it looks far better?
Wireless charging built in (but very slow)

The Dev is just waiting for the Verizon version to be released before he announces the exploit.
The S4 has the option for qi but requires the purchase of a new back panel that has the qi receiver built in, it's not released as of yet but I believe it is set to go for $40.
If I were you I would get the DNA and personally I wish I had the option to because the main reason for getting this phone was a 1080p display but now that the S4 has one I would choose the S4 because I miss the developer support with galaxy phones.

Not to mention that the S4 battery is removable and charges in 1h from 0 to 100%. With that being said the DNA has an impressive battery life considering the "small" 2020mah battery and the 5inch 1080p display.
Quick charge batteries usually end up needing replaced much more often than a non removeable battery like the DNA has. Quick charge is cool and all but the average battery life on my DNA according to gsam is 18 hours. More than enough

Maybe you can try a factory reset? It can be a time-consuming having to reinstall all the apps after that but at least you'll know you have a fresh start.
