Can anyone tell if Htc is ever releasing one of these updates for our one x+? I am being bored of waiting, the one is a newer device and it already received the 4.3

Thanks you for replying. Thats nt fair cause htc one x & one x+ is only a one yr old device.. Next time i will think a hundred time before buying another htc device

It's more than fair. They've already updated our OS version once and updated us to the latest version of sense. What more do you want? HTC are on the verge of bankruptcy as it is.
If you wan't 4.3 build it yourself from source.

I would give a 75% chance of the International HOX+ being updated and a 60% chance of the AT&T HOX+ being updated. They've announced updates to 4.4 for the Droid DNA and 4.3 for the EVO 4G LTE, which are carrier specific devices and both as old or older than the X+.

Just wondering what the differences are. I mean isn't it the same hardware other than the radio? Why aren't the roms compatible? Just wondering don't crucify me plz

The radio is the only major difference, unlike the original HOX vs ATT HOX which had a processor change as well.

Yep the only H/W diffrence is the radio. Although the two devices do have diffrent kernels too.

Now I know nothing about how roms work, but couldnt we just flash an international Rom and an att kernel?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
I'm thinking not because there are lots of little diffrences between the roms. For starters on the one x devices, the radio and .ril are in the /system/ partition, and flashed with the rom. The build.prop is diffrent. And i'm sure there is more that someone with more ability than me. Could point out

This is what I thought, I'm curious to how hard it would be to port over a international ROM to an att one x+
If the only major difference is the ril, build.prop, and kernel then it should be fairly simple

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking of. I can be a bit nerdy wouldn't mind poking around see how some of this stuff works. Funny I know nothing about the roms I flash on my phones and how they work since my HTC 8525 back in 06 lol, never got curious on how it actually all worked until now.

If you end up poking around and try to do a port, please keep us updated on your progress.

That is just the Developer Preview. I am thinking about trying it out on my Nexus 7. Maybe we can try porting it when the full release gets here. But I think they delayed that till 2014.
I'd be curious if we could port sooner. Looking at the list here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices#Work_in_progress) there appear to be quite a few other devices namely HTC One variants and VZW SGIII

We could probably get it working without too much trouble. The big issue is that nothing would work. GSM calling and SMS are working, but CDMA and LTE aren't and there's no mobile data support at all. It's just not worth it at this point unless you want to start writing apps.

Sad for those of us not rooted to be still waiting. What about the One in the US?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
My guess is that the Sprint/T-Mobile version gets 4.2.2 in September, followed by ATT a few weeks later.
So says Jason Mackenzie, president of global sales at HTC,
Lots of questions re 4.3 release for One. We r wrking hard (needs cert) to release 4.3 across all US, Canada skus by end Sept. DNA as well

Even if we get it in October, should hold me over for my next upgrade around April of 2014.

I hate to be a burster of bubbles, however this tweet explicitly mentions the HTC One, and makes no reference to the Evo LTE, or even the HTC One X series of phones. It confirms nothing at all about any update coming for our device.

It doesn't have to explicitly say it, since EVO LTE is a carrier specific phone, spun-off from HTC ONE X. Also, EVO LTE got the Jelly bean here first IIRC before HTC ONE X did here in the states. So if history is any indication, I think it does apply to EVO LTE.

However, this tweet is referring to the HTC One, not the HTC One X. The HTC One is the newest phone from HTC, and is about a year newer than the HTC One X. It was the one that launched with 4.2 and Sense 5 already on it.
I hope so......

You're right. It is referring to ONE and not ONE X. My bad on this one. I was seeing X after ONE for some reason.
Holy hell does anyone actually read what they are posting? As stated above ...this is in reference to the newest flagship model the htc one..completely different phone from the evo lte

No, that's specifically for the HTC One family.
We didn't even get 4.2 yet, why would we jump to 4.3?

You can flash 4.3 ROMs already from the development sections.

They're skipping 4.2 on the One line because it was a "minor" update. I guess it wasn't too much trouble to just leapfrog it to 4.3 so they did.

I see the One is getting upgraded, but the general talk is that the One X won't as it is outside of the 18 month window.
With the One X+ having only been out for 12 months, do you think we'll see the upgrade?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Can't speak for the international X+, but I can tell you for a fact, the AT&T X+ will not receive Android 4.4 KitKat with Sense 5.5. We will only be getting 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Sense 5 in January. I don't see us getting 4.3 either. The international X+ will see 4.3, if it hasn't got it already, and 4.4. Just don't hold your breath on the AT&T model. Your outlook is much brighter if you have the international model.

Thanks for the reply. Will wait and see. Being in the UK, I do have the international variant!

According to what I've read, most of the changes are to BlinkFeed, especially the ability to switch it off. I have that on the + already (not 5.5).
Considering the phone is just 12 months old, I'll be very frustrated if there isn't a further update to the os.

Yeah, me too.
I don't expect unlimited updates. But the phone shouldn't be ignored after 1 year.
I hope they see Sense (no pun intended!) and bring the update to the plus.

The thing is, our device was kind of niche one, because the sales were not that great. And I don't think HTC is in a position where it would make sense (financially) to invest in creating an update for our phone.
Plus, there's the problem of loyalty to HTC One X customers. The HTC One X is almost the same device, so updating the One X+ would mean they have to update the One X as well. In my opinion, you can separate the HOX from the HOX+, and viceversa. If one gets an update, so does the other. If not, then none of them do.

Yeah, I get that. If I had known that it would be forgotten about after 12 months, I wouldn't have been so brand loyal.
Just have to wait and see...
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Well I too consider myself to be brand loyal, but only because of the build quality of the phones. I've been f****d before by HTC, with the Desire Z. It too was left behind before its time.
It's frustrating. I know there are arguments that we 'shouldn't' expect major software upgrades once we've bought a phone, but I think with the money we spend on phones, you should expect some form of upkeep for a while.
Sorry to hear you've been messed about before! If it happens here, I reckon I'll jump to Samsung or Sony.

I'm getting rather ticked off at HTC and AT&T. I've been an avid fan/user since an old HTC AT&T 8525 Windows phone. Every HTC phone I've had is always the only one that never gets updates. Other HTC AT&T phones get their updates, but mine don't. I have the worst luck in picking phones.
