What are the differences from the international and the at&t version - HTC One X+

Just wondering what the differences are. I mean isn't it the same hardware other than the radio? Why aren't the roms compatible? Just wondering don't crucify me plz

The radio is the only major difference, unlike the original HOX vs ATT HOX which had a processor change as well.

Yep the only H/W diffrence is the radio. Although the two devices do have diffrent kernels too.

Now I know nothing about how roms work, but couldnt we just flash an international Rom and an att kernel?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium

I'm thinking not because there are lots of little diffrences between the roms. For starters on the one x devices, the radio and .ril are in the /system/ partition, and flashed with the rom. The build.prop is diffrent. And i'm sure there is more that someone with more ability than me. Could point out

This is what I thought, I'm curious to how hard it would be to port over a international ROM to an att one x+
If the only major difference is the ril, build.prop, and kernel then it should be fairly simple

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking of. I can be a bit nerdy wouldn't mind poking around see how some of this stuff works. Funny I know nothing about the roms I flash on my phones and how they work since my HTC 8525 back in 06 lol, never got curious on how it actually all worked until now.

If you end up poking around and try to do a port, please keep us updated on your progress.

That is just the Developer Preview. I am thinking about trying it out on my Nexus 7. Maybe we can try porting it when the full release gets here. But I think they delayed that till 2014.
I'd be curious if we could port sooner. Looking at the list here (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices#Work_in_progress) there appear to be quite a few other devices namely HTC One variants and VZW SGIII

We could probably get it working without too much trouble. The big issue is that nothing would work. GSM calling and SMS are working, but CDMA and LTE aren't and there's no mobile data support at all. It's just not worth it at this point unless you want to start writing apps.

[Q] Rom Question

Getting att htc one today. Question is can I use any htc one rom? Or can I just use att?
All but sprint
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
Yup pretty much any except sprint and now Verizon I suppose because of the cdma... All the gsm variants are basically interchangeable.

Thank you both.

Just do a little reading on the ROM you're interested in, beforehand. Some can get a little wonky when it comes to AT&T icons, at least.

Phone "Versions"?

So once I planned to root and got into XDA, I always read "INTERNATIONAL ONLY, AT&T ONLY ..ETC ONLY"
Why? Why does the recovery differ from INT and AT&T and sprint and all those other variables? Why can't we boot a rom for the INT to other variants and vice versa?
I know that it belongs to CID (i think?) But why? How is that CID set? And what's different between each CID and the other?
Thanks you guys

Processor is not the same ...
Aren't they all Tegra 3? As far as I know it's the chipset and processor or am I mistaken?
Sent from my HTC ONE X+ using XDA Developers app with a random Kame-Hami flying up yo' face.
They're both Tegra 3, radio and partitioning are different (don't know about anything else)
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
The international and AT&T version, have different radio hardware. The international one uses the Tegra 3 inbuilt radio hardware where as the AT&T version uses a quallcomm 4G radio chip. Because of the different hardware the devices require a different kernel, thats also why they need different recoveries, because a recovery is basically built from the kernel.

Can anyone tell if Htc is ever releasing one of these updates for our one x+? I am being bored of waiting, the one is a newer device and it already received the 4.3

Thanks you for replying. Thats nt fair cause htc one x & one x+ is only a one yr old device.. Next time i will think a hundred time before buying another htc device

It's more than fair. They've already updated our OS version once and updated us to the latest version of sense. What more do you want? HTC are on the verge of bankruptcy as it is.
If you wan't 4.3 build it yourself from source.

I would give a 75% chance of the International HOX+ being updated and a 60% chance of the AT&T HOX+ being updated. They've announced updates to 4.4 for the Droid DNA and 4.3 for the EVO 4G LTE, which are carrier specific devices and both as old or older than the X+.

Update...really?

So has anyone on at&t actually had a successful update to 4.2.2 sense 5?

I am in CA, bay area and I got the update two days ago from at&t.
First was a small update of some kind then a 532mb update which brought my phone up to 2.2 and it has sense5

And its 4.2.2

That is strange.
Only thing I can add is my phone is still stock. Never rooted.
I dunno if that makes any difference. I'm still a noob with all this stuff.

I had to relock boot loader months back
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
I just got the update notice on mine today. I'm rooted and unlocked but still on a mostly stock rom(at&t).
I'm still in the process of backing up everything but I plan on trying the update later this evening...will let you know how it turns out.
@gokun, you probably need to make sure you have a stock recovery and a relocked bootloader to receive that update. I'm pretty sure that's how the process goes even if you have a stock Rom.

Hadn't checked for area days. Checked yesterday and got it. It is 4.2.2 btw.

Yeah, you are correct. I ended up not doing it because I didn't want to update my hboot just yet. Instead I just installed a custom rom based on it(blackout). That option worked out better for me since I didn't want to go through all the headache.
