I have a BIG problem. When I dial number must wait black screen 3-6secundas. I'm frustrated! This lags begin when free memory drops on 230mb, I dont wand restart mobile every time when lag begin. Its memory managment problem.
I try almost all custom roms based on JB stock rom -from this forum.
First I have Xperia P with locked bootloader (from croatia operater)
I sold Xp and buy another Xperia P with open bootloder (from england operater) . And what a surprice. Lag is stil there!!!
I'm not noob android user. I carefuly read all guide about instalation custom roms. i dont know whats wrong it is?!
I try everything, but there is no solution.
DEvelopers please help. This is global xperia JB problem

Adding on to Pandemic's post, the kernel cannot be updated further from 3.0.x, even with xda here.

I've had the dialer problem ever since I upgraded to Jelly Bean, and it's very annoying time to time.

I've been struggling with this for a long time, too. I guess I finally have the solution! First of all, use exDialer instead of stock, and make sure that in the settings menu the "Keep in memory" option is enabled and Hardware Acceleration is DISABLED. I also have Allow External Contact Viewer unticked.
Disabling hardware acceleration is what really made the huge difference for me. I guess hardware acceleration tries to make use of functionalities that actually cause the whole misery instead of speeding things up.
Make sure you finally reboot the phone with Volume Up + Power button to clear as much cache as possible. Hope this helps.

I have a ArcS with ICS. Someone (i too) have a problem with the phonebook (and "dial screen"). It takes 5-10 seconds to open it and thats not funny:silly:
So i´m looking for the Xperia S phonebook.apk to try this one on my ArcS. If it runs faster, we (ArcS-owner) have a solution for this problem
If someone know that this apk will not work 1:1 on the ArcS, please let me know.

well dont knw abt arc S ..the phonebook works well with neov ..so i suppose it should work with arc s give it a try ..if u want ..i will give u the phonebook .apk from Xperia S ..ICS )

I now know the reason: Android kicks it from the memory after a certain time. And if the App isn´t in the memory, it takes a view seconds until it is ready.
But i´ve downloades the app "exDialer" an this ist a very fast "contact-App" with many themes.
So, for me this is the best and easiest way.:good:

Sorry I didn;t mention.. the camera ws not workign since few libs are nto compiled.. you have to use that or you can use the other one which has few more governers..+camera libs also you need to flash the camera fix zip mentioned in the first post

wifi policy..
even if you set it to not sleep, when the screen turns of, wifi stops..
this is such a killer specially of im downloading large files.. tried it earlier, after i wake up, download went back to 1%...

but the only bug i found is that some times in gallery lanscape is not functioning properly it mean that it is closing off suddenly and moving back to home page

i have a live with walkman...the problem is...if i go for any gingerbread rom (cm7,miui,joyos, or even stock rom), my whatsapp dosent work properly...all my msgs are sent after 2mins...like if i send a msg at say 9:00, its sent at 9:02...and in the meanwhile i dont even recieve msgs...i recieve msgs aftr every 2mins...i cnt evn update status due to this problem...and on the other hand, if i go for any 4.x rom...everything is fine..all msgs are sent at lightning speed and there is no such problem...what can be the problem???
and...i use wifi bcoz i dont have internet on my fone...so i jst guess that whatsapp works properly on my mobile internet on 2.3...im not sure..jst a guess

this looks like a whatapp-due problem, which is not solved (and probably womt bcuz android 2.X.X is outdated ) (my friend had problems too with whatsapp and facebook-msgr, when he tried out old-fashioned cm7.2 on his galaxy.. ) we switched back to ics and it was gone , he use mobile networks...
maybve u try friends sim, to look if whatsapp works better on mobile networks?
if not come to 4.X.X

ok. and yes i understand u gb is simple and good in games :good: no comparement to 4+, and everybody should use the rom that fits him as well
hmm, the problem is look: like u say u try diffrent kinds of GB rom's , we can say its not software-due, also u installed whatsapp more times(not restored from titanium etc) and may in app data ? so we can say its not a apk-problem, last what can be were provider problems but u using wifi so i cant be.......
... i have really no idea...
did have gb synchronization? and did u wipe also /data on fresh install? did us e use any apps like taskillers , greenify etc???

Hmmm...have you ever wonder if this problem is more related to custom kernel rather than whatsapp or the ROMs itself????
Some user forget that the Custom Kernel is also related in internet connectivity...some Custom Kernel (i won't mention which one) have a problem in synchronizing with FB, Games and other social app such as Whatsapp...i know this cause i have been using a couple of Custom Kernel on the same router just to see the different and i can confirm some of them do have synchronizing problem....

maybe u r right...bcoz i used the same kernel in all roms (miui,joyos and other cm7 based) as all those rom developers recommended that kernel...but right now i am on fxp kernel, and it has the same problem...and what about stock kernel?? as far as i remember, it has the same problem (i didnt use stock for a long time)...so can it b a kernel problem?
as iPusak Gaoq™ said it can be a kernel problem, i tried stock kernel and stock rom again...and yes there is some improvement, but yet sometimes there are connectivity drops...stock rom+stock kernel has better whtsp than cm7 based roms and kernels..but not yet as perfect as 4.0...but anyways its manageable...thanks everyone for help
EDIT: i noticed something..in stock rom...i cant check anyones last seen or cant send message...but, as soon as i go in my contact list and click 'refresh' evrything wrks fine...
hi guys iam bought new sola and upgraded it to ice cream sandwith but its sometimes feel its slow when i open messages ans phone booke and call logs even when someone call me his name appear after may be 10 seconeds or more and somethimes very slow dont know why if anybody can help me with this problems guys will be apperciated
Did you do a factory reset after the upgrade? It will help a little.... And dude trust me - ICS is a little buggy.
It may be because of low RAM.

Dear readers and members of XDA-Developers
After installing a new ROM I've decided to post my experience here and hope it will be useful for u.
I've a Sola device with Gingerbread 2.3 preinstalled.... all Stock ROMS (ICS , JB , GB) are piece of *$&%^ ... too laggy and not smooth at all...
I've a Galaxy Tab P1000 too and I was having the feeling that my Tab is 100 times better than my sola....
decided to root my device and installed an experience V2.1 from the XDA-Forum too ... a little bit laggy but still not satisfied, especially that the Graphics were worse than my HTC-Touch HD.... I was not able to play any 3D Mid-Heavy game on my Sola ,,,, Battery was perfect and all connections too... so... for the Experience V2.1 ROM:
Advantages:
1- Battery
2- All functions are working (NFC, BT, ......)
3- nice looked
Disadvantages:
1- sola restarts if it got a call while charging most of the time.
2- Graphics performance is the worst ever.
3- Touching while charging will be completely impossible (crazy) but I think there was a fix for it.
4- not smooth enough and sometimes laggy.
5- boot takes about 3 Minutes.
and now after installing the CM-10:
Advantages:
1- Battery
2- most of the functions are working (Wi-Fi, BT, ......)
3- nice looked
4- very very smooth.
5- Graphics performance is the best.
6- no crashes.
7- boots in 20 seconds or less.
Disadvantages:
1- NFC / Radio FM are not working.
This is the best ROM I've ever used... try it ... u'll like it... :good:

Some words:
This ROM is just awesome! I never was such statisfied with a ROM like now. You can just trust on this ROM and everything works as it should (except NFC - which I can't even test/use because my NFC Chip is dead ^^ - and FM Radio).
Advantages:
-Best workflow I ever had
-No Call UI lags
-Great performance (benchmark, heavy games etc)
Disadvantages:
-Not the best battery life in my opinion
-There are no more for me
Recommandations:
-CPU governor: abyssplug
-I/O scheduler: row
-CPU Frequencies: 200MHz - 1000MHz
Last words:
Probably the best ROM I ever used on my sola. I can just recommend this ROM to everyone out there!

But unfortunately I don't see yet enough polished one for my device. Even if I was trying to use tweaks such as Fly-On Mod it's still not looking too good. And maybe your proposition would suits me, but sincerely I really wanted to stay on KitKat...

After yours recommendation I wanted to test CM10 on my own... Unfortunately it's the first ROM where I have problems with WiFi connection.
OK, no problems anymore - after second installation it works like a charm. Strange, because I did everything the same like first time... I hope I will stay with CM10 a little longer than with KitKat based ones. THX!

Do you maybe know how to properly install Fly-On Mod on the CM10? I don't really understand the step with patching services.jar (patching wasn't necessary on KitKat based ROMs)...
How should I do this, because i feel like a real moron stucking od this step? Of course if you ever tried that modification.

Someone says that CM11 by Rodger_Rulez is better then CM10. Anyone has tested it?

The best non-CM11 rom I've tried is SlimFXP's CM9. Stable, reliable, everything works (FM excluded as in any CM). Jelly bean roms can only hope to be as good as it is.
On any non-CM11 you need either Greenify or Appquarantine to keep trash apps frozen manually (appquarantine has widgets for easy freze-unfreeze of apps) or it won't deep-sleep properly (like say google services, Facebook, whatever keeps running and can't simply stay dead).
I tried various CM11 from the same dev (all ports, all the same kernel from munjeni I think)
Carbonkk, Hellkat and SlimKat
Carbon is buggy for me (cpu still maxed after a full day of letting it settle... all times I tried reflashing! nopenopenope!)
Hellkat is good but I'm not a fan of its UI and still needs some tweaking to behave.
SlimKat is boss (and also the one with latest update afaik). 800 mhz/200 mhz, Wheatley and Noop. Deep sleeps like a pro. Interface is a bit small but I like it (coming from SlimFXP CM9).
Is a bit slow to start apps after boot (like say Performance Control), but afterwards it's very smooth and responsive whatever I'm doing.
I also REALLY recommend to use Performance Control app to set android minfree task killer properly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2401988
Even on CM9 android's own minfree task killer standard settings (bundled with kernel) are utter crap and stuff is terminated at random.
On SlimKat CM11 I can leave anything unfrozen and when i press the power button the thing goes to deep sleep within seconds and stays there.
Also android's own task killer is very good in CM11 Slimkat. Google trash is always loaded but always ready to be dumped if my apps need the space. Performance Control app is still needed for its settings and stuff, but Greenify or Appquarantine are no more.

Interesting. Did you tried also the one mentioned before by Rodger Rulez? Now I use eXperience v2 by 6 month, but I want to switch to CM again (I used FXP's CM9 before) and I'd like to see CM11 working on my phone flawlessly. The problem (or the value, depending on pov) is that we've lots of ROMs like Rodjer's, Munjeni's, XperiaMT27'S, ecc. and it's not easy to find the best for me that i'm an abroad student and I've not much time to try as i did before.

Isntalled CM11 of Roger Rulez yesterday, I had from ICS begining.....and.....I not see to many differences concerning the speed in ram....however the look of KIKAT 4.4.2 is very cool, is just different.....but I'll keep in CM11 for some time, I not know that Slimkat.....please send me the link
