Get the right kernel, flash that. If that doesn't work, get a stock rom from Samfirmware, flash that with Odin = clean slate. Then you can try rooting again if you want, choose what you flash a bit more carefully next time though (there's a simple root method in the thread stickied near the top of Q&A unless you're running GB).

Um, you're supposed to know this stuff/make a note of it before you do anything with your phone. Not blindly flash stuff & hope it works out, which inevitably leads to the situation you now find yourself in I.E a busted phone.

Does it make it irrepable :s :s :
No, if you still have download mode you should be able to recover it. But it's going to take some work on your part, we can't do it for you.
Search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread, try the stuff in that thread & see if you can get a successful flash of stock firmware with Odin. That's the only way you're fixing it.

I suggest you note down, at least now, all the info given in the 'About Phone' page inside settings. And next time, be careful to back up stuff and read about what you're about to do.

I did the mistake of attempting to install this pre rooted kernel: STOCKPLUS-GT-I9100-XXLPB-KERNEL-ROOTED through Odin.¨
I couldn't find a version that matched my kernel gingerbread.XXKL5 so I thought it would be okay to just install any kernel with the same android 2.3.6 version.
All I wanted was to root my phone, now my phone won't even boot. I think it's stuck on a bootloop ? It goes to the samsung warning triangle screen and stays there.
My phone doesn't seem to be able to enter recovery mode. However, it can enter download mode ..
I'm finding this whole rooting business slightly difficult. I'm in over my head. Please, assist me.
Kind regards,

Surely STOCKPLUS-GT-I9100-XXLPB-KERNEL would be 4.0.3. rather than 2.3.6?
If you're a noob, why ignore all the stickies and FAQ and jump straight for some random kernel?
I was reading a lot of posts via xda dev forum and someone linked to that kernel and I dunno what I was thinking. Apparently I wasn't thinking at all. SORRY. Now how do I fix this? =(

Before you make things worse, are you even sure you have an I9100? A quick search for XXKL5 revealed I9100G as more likely.

You can try KL3 from Chainfire's CF-Root thread. Should work. Or just use Siyah or Speedmod, and be done with it.

Yup. There are MANY different SII's... Most have completely different model numbers. GT-I9100 and GT-I9100G are similar, but have different chipsets, so are not compatible for firmwares. Take very good care you only flash things meant for the I9100G.

That is forced download mode. Means you have to flash something to get it working again.
As long as you can get to download mode, it's not hopeless.
Try this.
Thanks! Just completet step 2. Repartition with Odin successfully!
Waiting 30 mins due to d/l limit on mirror site but then I will download firmware from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ and proceed with step 3. Should I just get the European one?

I experienced it last weekend. Bricked!
Having the same issue mistaken I9100G for I9100 and flashed Kernel based on I9100. Initially hanged at the Samsung logo with Yellow Triangle when reboot the phone it shows Phone---Exclamation----PC.
Searched and tried almost everything except sending to MobileTech.
After days of trying I resend it back to Samsung Service Centre claiming got the Logo after updating new FW from Kies.
With no questions asked from Service Centre, they restored my phone the next day.
I would advice you to send it back to service centre if you run outta options.

I actually feel slightly cheated since the product advertised is clearly the S2 with dual core see
http://www.bazula.se/Samsung-Galaxy/Samsung-Galaxy---mobiler/Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-i9100.htm
Read " Dual Core Processor på 1,2 Ghz "
According to my knowledge, the i9100G is actually limited to single core and is clocked at 1Ghz ?

Why did you start a new thread? You already had a perfectly good thread going for the same problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24175814.
And you've apparently decided to ignore all the advice in that thread that said to flash back to a stock GINGERBREAD firmware, since you again are trying to flash LPQ, which is one of the earlier ICS releases.

Not of course. Because the problem you describe is what happens when you try to flash I9100 firmware on a model like I9100G or others that are called SGS2 but are different hardware. Only true way to tell is read the sticker under the battery.
Anyway forget this thread and take the advice in the other thread and report back there.
Good luck.

I tried to flash KI3, the gingerbread, it still fails. I think it is a new problem, and it is related to the NAND rw corruption mentioned by others. Therefore, I started a new post but not ignoring others' advice.
If you can help me with my problem, zillions of thanks then.
Flash a stock GB rom and see what happens .

Given you say you've tried everything suggested, and given you think it's a bootloader issue, there are literally dozens and dozens of posts on here about same.
Do a Google search (rather than using XDA search), and append 'XDA' to whatever your search terms are.
This problem you're having is not common, and you're not going to find a fix easily for this (as you're discovering) short of having it JTAG'd or sending it to a Samsung service center.
Is samsung customer service accepted to handle this, even i have some custom binary no?
Or if i pay some money, they wll fix that for me??
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA
Yep. They'll fix it, but you'll more than likely end up paying for it. A JTAG repair might be a cheaper option. Here's one in the US, I'm sure there are many others around the world (maybe near you, search Google).
Can you still enter download-mode (Vol. down + Home Button + Power Button)? If so, you can try these steps in this Guide here
Be careful with Re-Partition..i ruined my device some days ago with it after try to fix nand rw corruption.
I have tried all of those before. But i even can't flash things through. Even vthe kernel, recovery and bootloaders.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA
So when you try to flash a 3-Part Firmware (without Re-Partition) it stucked again?
PS: Be very careful .. I has a very similar problem and with Re-Partition I shoot it up -.- (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24115788#post24115788)
What have you done to shoot it up??
I stucked even i flashed a three part firware without repartition and pit file

Hey,
I'm sorry but i didn't solve the problem for me. With "shoot it up" I mean "i killed my phone". Sorry for that mistake!
I followed the guide too but at first step I flashed with Re-Partition and PIT file. Odin stucked at "Partitioning" so after 10min I closed Odin and restart S2...after that my device was completly dead. Screen stays black. Sorry don't know how to fix it. My S2 is on the way to rapaircenter now.

Go into recoverymode and install a rom in ur memory internal or extaernal

Look if u just put insecure kernel by odin i sugere u take sd card out download a rom by computer to sd card. input again in phone and turn on in recovery mode... i think will works im not responsabile for nothing can happened but im pass the same like i write...tell something

Hi everyone i hope somebody can help me my problem is that i was on Stock Rom 2.3.6 and i want to put a custom rom so i root it, i did it everything good.
But then following a tutorial of how to put cwm i did it like the video flashing with odin and mine said success but i have bootloop. I never tought trying to enter cwm so i tried to flash stock rom again but didnt have success.
It started but have only fails in odin and now i dont know how but it haves a NAND rw corruption and doesnt let me flash roms only kernels.
When i try to flash a rom i have that problem. So looking on internet now i know that is a soft brick because only i can enter download mode not recovery.
I already tried to do what a thread over here says about how to recover from a soft brick with a recovery package and a kernel, also tried to flash a bootloader that came with that but it doesnt let flash. It stills turns on but only download mode.
I take it to repair but here in Mexico cant even tried something they gave me back my phone and they have it 3 days there for nothing, is it hard brick or something like that because it doesnt come back with that tutorial of soft brick
PS: It haves the triangle i know that is something normal when you flash it, but in the download mode my count number is 24 ._. too much i know but thats because i already tried everything i found and still like that, is there a problem with all that counts? i dont have a jtag

I put enters dont know why it go out there like that, but sorry the point of my problem is that:
1.- I was on Stock Rom 2.3.6.
2.- Rooted and everything fine.
3.- Tried to flash cwm following a tutorial and didn't start had a bootloop.
4.- Then i tried to flash back the stock rom and there came the problem:
- I can only access to download mode.
- No recovery mode.
- Sometimes it said on the screen when turning on "Samsung Galaxy S II" with the triangle, but other times says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".
- Always says fail in Odin when i tried to flash a Rom (Only Kernel success), the problem is the Nand rw is corrupted.
- Already did a tutorial to recover a soft brick but no success it gaves the same error of nand rw.
- Cant flash an old bootloader that cames with the tutorial of soft brick.
I don't have a Jtag but i can put it in download mode so i think i dont need it or im wrong?

You should not flash with bootloader. Try flash the recommended .pit file instead. After a successful flash, flash the ROM.

I tought that when is Hardbricked it was when it doesnt turn on or go to download mode, but maybe your right.
Im gonna try that thanks, but I think it will have fail because it says to flash PDA .OFFICIAL XWLPG and as I said it doesnt let flash any rom with that NAND rw problem.
Anyway if i try only flashing Siyah Kernel could it help? I was reeding something about dual boot or something like that

no.
-Nand corruption is also hard enough to make your phone useless.
-that method should work since you are only flashing kernel as pda
I'm waiting for your feedback

The Siyah kernel tutorial I recommended should work.
Anyway, if your phone is still under warranty, you can probably send it for repairs

It didn't work for me because it needs to flash the XWLPG first but i can't flash roms, so I couldn't pass from there to Siyah Kernel.
Thanks anyway, I can't take it I bought it used from a friend, RIP my S2
Youll still get around £120 for it on ebay.

Haha its something hope that, im going to start over again to buy a S2 i like that phone
I have a Galaxy S2 that I rooted and unlocked. Then I followed the instructions at the beginning of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
I wanted to remove the junk from my carrier hoping to use a stock ROM.
I did this successfully in the past on a Galaxy S with Odin and so I expected an easy ride with Odin this time as well.
Not so...
After several attempts and after trying two different ROMs the result is the same: the phone won't reboot.
This is what Odin displayed the last time:

I suppose it looks fine... but the phone won't boot. It displays its Galaxy SII logo and then the screen goes blank again. It can still boot in recovery or download mode, but I tried a factory reset in recovery mode and that had no effect.
The two ROMs I tried to flash were:
Kernel_I9100XWLPF.tar.md5
Kernel_I9100XXLPW.tar.md5
I would like to have UK/France compatible software in it, so I looked for XX and XW. I would happily install an old Gingerbread though, but the download links for older versions lead to a strange site now. Would be happy to install any old Android version that is NOT branded by a carrier, then update using Kies.
Is my phone dead???
To be clear: Odin still sees it.
I loved it, wanted to give it to my boy as I moved on to an S4. Any help will be gratefully received.
hey
I would wait for someone with a bit more experience to answer you(I do have a lot of xp with other phones besides this one, just got it)
I would say the safest bet would be to do a full wipe and just flash stock or w/e ROM you like via Odin, anyway I'm guessing it's a soft-brick which ain't a big deal.
I think I see you are using Odin v3. Download Odin v1.85 and try again. Make sure you have the correct drivers installed, make sure there are no Kies processes running in the background, and just use a stock firmware as suggested above.
Also, are they actually ROM's that you flashed, or kernels? Because it has the name kernel in front of it...

You flashed a kernel, not a ROM.

Thanks, nice to have some support. I think I've done a stupid thing of flashing a kernel, now I have finally noticed that there are two types of download... can I hope that flashing a proper ROM will fix this?
I don't get it. U said you wanted to remove junk from a stock rom right?
Since u were already rooted, why flash via Odin when u can simply freeze or uninstall the junk apps??

Hi! I think I know a fix.First of all, download this firmware. It's Android 4.0.3 XWLP7,and I know it's network unlocked. After it finished downloading, extract it,so you will have a .tar.md5 file, and then open Odin.Make sure Kies is stopped. Then,on your mobile:make sure it's charged, and enter Download Mode(Hold POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN buttons together until it enters download mode). Now connect it to your PC.In Odin,Click PDA,and select the extracted firmware file.Make sure "Re-Partiton" and "Flash Lock" are unticked. Then Click start. It will take ~ 5 min. to flash the new ROM.After completed, disconnect it from PC.It maybe won't boot/it will be stuck in bootloop. Now enter Recovery(hold POWER + HOME + VOL UP buttons, until it restarts and shows up the "Galaxy S2 GT-I9100" screen. Now let the buttons go.In recovery(you can navigate with VOL UP/VOL DOWN buttons , and select with POWER button) select "Wipe Data/Factory Reset",or something similar.Select yes.It will take ~ 3-8 min. to wipe. That's it,you have restored your Galaxy S2! If you want to root it,follow along.Download this file, and put it on your phone`s EXTERNAL SD! card. Now reboot into Recovery. In recovery, select "Install update from external storage", or something similar, and search the downloaded file.Install it.Now reboot. You don't have to wipe anything. That's it!
P.S.I've been writing this for 15 minutes, but at least you have a stock, rooted Galaxy S2

YAY!!! It was easy to just flash a ROM.
The reason I flashed via Odin is I wanted to get rid of my carrier's logos on startup etc, and they have a crippled version of the Samsung ROM as well, without the security apps to locate the phone etc.
THANKS ALL!
First of all I'm going to say that I really don't know a lot about phone rooting and I only decided to do it so that I could recover deleted text messages on my Galaxy S2. I thought it would be a lot easier than it is and I've messed it up. I am an idiot I know!
I'll try and go through every step that I have done and hopefully someone will be able to help me.
I used this guide:
http://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/how-to-root-your-samsung-galaxy-s2/
And then, because I couldn't download the kernels from the link provided I ended up using these instead
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...kernels-updated-insecure-ics-kernels-t1619525
I believe I first downloaded the one titled: Kernel_I9100DXLPB_INSECURE.tar
I managed to do that successfully and then went on to root the phone and also did that successfully.
HOWEVER that is when the problem started. My phone would not reboot properly and would only show Galaxy sII start up screen with the yellow exclamation mark. It then turned off. I searched again to see what I had done wrong and I found that I may have flashed the wrong kernel and that perhaps my phone was a galaxy sii i9100-g. So I tried to flash one which was compatible but when I did so everything I was doing was failing.
Looking at the back of my phone however my model does seem to be an i9100 and not a G.
So I am very stuck, I know now that I probably shouldn't have done this when I know nothing about it but if anyone is kind enough to help me I would really appreciate it.
Just to let you know the phone does 1. go to the galaxy s2 start up screen and 2. goes into download mode.
Also the battery charging screen does come up. But I don't want to try anything else until I have sought some advice.
Thank you very much.

I think it is Jelly Bean. I can't say for sure because I can't see the number now as I can't access my phone but I know it begins 4.1.
Yep,it's Jelly Bean. You flashed ICS kernel on JB,thus this problem.I would suggest to flash Jelly Bean compatible Philz kernel via ODIN.You'll gain root + won't lost any data.

Thanks again
Yes,because you don't know what firmware version you have.
If all goes nicely, reflash a kernel that matches your rom later.

Hi, sorry to bother you again but this should be the last time! Everything is working, but now I would like to do what you said and reflash the right kernel - if I do this will the phone still be rooted? And also will this then remove the exclamation mark?
How can I find which is the correct one?
Thanks again.
No problem
Go to phone's settings/about device. Then look at the build number.Accordingly, download a matching kernel(everything is explained in Philz kernel OP).Root will not be affected.
As for yellow triangle, use TriangleAway from Original Android Development section.
