I ordered the following case for my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. The case feels good in the hand and offers good protection. I didn't read to description good to see that it turns the tablet on and off as the case is opened or closed, so that was a good surprise. This morning, in church, I noticed that my tablet was acting strange (would not turn off, no pull down menu, would not restart, weird shutdown menu. I troubleshot for about 20 min and decided that once I returned home I would do a factory reset. As I was closing the cover I noticed a paperclip was stuck the inside. I removed the paper clip and everything was fine. I guess the magnetic sensor is very sensitive. Beware of this when using such covers.

Was wondering if anyone else has an issue with the tab staying in place? Bottom tab, same side as power button... little bugger keeps popping up. If I press it back in, it stays for a while but eventually pops back out, resulting in a bulge where the tab should be pressed in.
I know it's a minor annoyance but I'm wondering if my phone is warped, it's an issue with the cover itself, or if it's a common issue. I didn't find anything by searching. I know I can just throw a case on it and forget about it... *shrug*
No issues here. I only see the case pop up when I drop my phone. I'm glad the back isn't made of a breakable material, like glass, that would be a nightmare.

Thanks for the reply. I took pics... even though it's probably hard to see. Do the tabs look alright? I never really bothered looking at them before...
I don't know its hard to say with the pics. Here are some shots of mine.
Close up of bottom corner on side with cut out for back removal.
My whole back plate.
If it won't stay tight, I'd call att for a replacement.

I wish I could. I got the phone from ebay It was fine for a couple days - or maybe I just didn't notice it. I have an extended battery & international battery cover on the way and will see if that works. Your battery cover seems like it has more of an L shape to the tab, the two where it pops up on mine look like they're almost straight.
More pics/better lighting...

I bought the Platinum Series case from Best Buy for the EVOLTE and it is alright however it does not allow the camera button to depress enough to activate the shutter. If anyone else has gotten this case let me know if you are running into the same situation so that I can return mine!

My brother in law and I bought this same case. I tested the camera button on mine, and while I think I have to press a little harder to take a picture with the case than without it, I can definitely take pictures with the case on.
My brother in law noticed something on his that does not appear to happen with mine. When his phone is in the holster, tugging on out a bit can cause the holster clip to press the power button on the phone and therefore turn it on. Mine doesn't appear to have this problem.
Besides that problem, the case and holster appear to be top quality.
Scott
I think you need to press more towards the center of the phone to get the button to push down fully. I am able to do the multi-shot pictures just fine.

I have the Seidio Surface case (same as the BB Platinum series case) and I have not had any problems with any of the buttons. I do, however, prefer the OG EVO's Surface case that did not cover up the buttons. As stated above, though, it's still a very solid, quality case.
I am able to get it to work but it takes a very hard press...makes me feel like I'm going to break it.
The past 2 cases I have bought for my OG Evo, one of the springs in the clip usually break within 6 months. Although I like the case, I don't really want to keep replacing the clip and the case be remarkably good for the beating I put it through.

So I just found that he has version 2 of the platinum holster ,and I have version 1. (Underneath the clip that holds the phone in, there is a model #. His ends in 2, mine in 1). That may be why his turns his phone on and off with a jiggle, and mine does not.
Scott
I have a 1 and it does that if you slide the phone out with out holding the clip

Three times today this has happened to me... I think I'm going to return it and get a new case/holster. It's completely unacceptable for the holster to turn my phone off.

Anyone have any luck turning it in for an updated version I finally had to take my phone off my belt and put it in my toolbox because it kept shutting off.

Not sure if you guys have the best buy version of the surface or active case. I have the Seidio Active case and I don't have any turning off problems so far. My holster does have a two at the end model number. Here is a pic of the clip that shows how a portion was recessed so it doesn't sit on the power button. Hope this might help someone.
got a new clip just now..Model number 3 from Best Buy....good to go..device still turns on when removing from the clip though

I have the first version I hope the one I go to tomorrow has the updated ones and the hd zagg because I would love a non rubbery zagg and a case that doesn't turn my phone off.

Just to let you guys know, the power button on the case sometimes holds down the power button on the phone. This was my case. Simple fix is to cut off the power button guard on the case....problem fixed. I did this to the camera button as well. Also, I think it looks better this way too
What is the best way to remove this case? For some reason i cannot remove the case. I have the HD zagg on im wondering if that is my problem.

I had some trouble getting mine off the first time. It seemed to have snapped together a little to good. I took a razor blade and slid it in the gap between the 2 pieces right in the middle where they snap together. I just lifted up slightly on the top piece and I could hear it disconnect from the bottom piece. Came right off after that.

Just purchased an s - view cover of eBay and it says that it has an authentication chip in it so it will actually work like the original.
Just thought I would share this with everyone.

Hope it works

I've bought one from ebay:
ebay.co.uk/itm/380780764369
And I don't like it to be honest.
First of all, the finish is bad. You can see bits of broken fabrics on the edge of S-view windows.
The ear piece was not properly cut. There were still bits of fabrics in the ear piece that I had to pull them out.
There were a few scratches (probably there when I received it) on the s-view window. Those scratches were behind the cover.
Perhaps worst of all, the S-view function is kind of buggy. Whenever I connect it to the charger, it has a 75% chance to knock the S-view out like the chip suddenly disappeared. Evens if I never connect to a charger, there's still a chance... say 1 - 5 % that the S-View function suddenly disappear.
I certainly hopes the one you get is better than mine. Anyway, I decided to go for the original S-view + wireless because:
1. I don't like the chip in the wireless receiver constantly press onto the battery. I can feel there's a slight square dent on the battery after a week of usage
2. I don't want to gamble on the quality any more.
P.S: The Note 3 Basesu Case can be pretty good. But I wanted wireless charging as well and I'm not in the mood to carry out such modification =P

That sounds like a horrible case I'm really hoping I get a decent one. Thanks
I got one from ebay as well, but the seller isn't selling them anymore.
Thing is super buggy and somehow even messed with my bluetooth.
It would never remember setting the s-view background.
When flipped over to the back, it would activate s-view functions.
Bluetooth streaming would break up, hang, skip and pop.
I removed the case, and everything went back to normal.
Oh well
I read that scratched screen from him, is it true?
HEY guys i just bought a g note 3 yesterday along with the official s-view cover.
The cover functions in the way as described, but when i fold the cover full towards the back for example i fold it when i text the phones goes in to the s-view mode (like when the cover is closed) note: the cover is still open and folded towards the back of the device.
I would like to know whether this problem is caused by the cover or the phones connectivity with the cover?
Thanks for your help in advance

I used to have a similar problem when I used that case. Instead of going into S-view mode like yours does, mine would do the opposite. When I closed the cover it would show my Home screen through the cover. It sorted itself out eventually. Not sure what causes this though. Sorry I can't really be of any help other than just wait it out, it will probably start working correctly eventually. Your not the only one who has had this kind of issue though.
You should send your cover back under warranty. It is a problem with a magnet on the bottom side of the flip, which in your case is probably too strong.
Don't hesitate, This is a known manufacture problem of a few exemplars, and does not happen in working ones.
Cheers,
K
My s view cover doens't stay shut in most cases. I close it and it opens again - in particular once I opened it completely. Is this normal or are the magnets not strong enough and I should have it exchanged?

Mine does this, too. Not exactly what I expected for that price. But it always closed enough so that s-view was active.

Their are no magnets to keep the case closed. The magnets are there to tell the phone when to enter/exit S-View mode. Case is a good idea, but with it not closing all the way, I took mine back. Waiting on the Spigen S-View case which has a clasp to keep the cover closed. Was just announced and has a shipment date of around the 1st of the year.
Hey guys,
I got myself a View Cover for my Note 3.
Now I've got a problem:
When completely opening the cover, so that the front view is on the back of my phone, the phone goes into the "cover is closed-mode", i got that square view and can go to camera and action-memos...
But i just wanted to use my phone normally,
Is it just me with that problem or has anyone the same problems?
phone is in "cover is closed-mode" when it's actually closed
phone is in normal mode when cover is opened
phone is in "cover is closed-mode" when it's flipped back completely
Thanks in advance!

I've got the same problem. I stopped using the s-view case because of it.
Some people say there were some defective batches where this was an issue (magnet too strong?), and others say they don't have the issue at all.
If you have the option, try exchanging it for a different one and see if you get better results.
I had the same thing happen as well. I let the company know and they gave me a new case. Hasn't happened since.
Are you guys talking about genuine S-View covers?
Because I get that sometimes on my cover, but it is a cheap chinese knock-off, so I don't mind it at all - it rarely happens anyway.
But I wouldn't accept that on a genuine Samsung cover.
I've tried another cover, too but the problem remained. I aswell am using some chinese knockoff, although it says samsung... But yeah, can someone tell me if the original view-cover got that problems?
Thanks for your replies!

Genuine Samsung s-view cover doesn't have this issue
I've got a genuine cover and I don't have this problem at all.
If its a knock off, good chance the magnet in the front of the case is too strong. I've noticed if I put a magnet up to the bottom left of the phone, this will trick it into thinking the cover is closed. Similarly if its done from the back of the phone, if the magnet is too strong it will trigger the same. not sure if theres something you can place in the back cover of the case to shield it?

First, thanks for your reply!
I will check if I can protect the back somehow.
But anyways, I am thinking of buying another view-cover because my phone won't recognize mine from time to time... Have to reattach it to get it back working.
