Requesting that someone make a flashable zip from the newest CWM Touch Image, especially as new 4.4 KitKat ROMs are requiring CWM-based recoveries.
I understand that this can be accomplished through ROM Manager (but I'm getting a download error) or through fast-boot/adb (which I admittedly don't have the time, patience or complete understanding to do) so if someone had time to make a flashable zip, I'd imagine that'd benefit the community greatly.
There is an older version here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1584576) but OP is no longer updating or supporting.
Will attach the IMG below. Thank you.

I haven't flashed a cwm zip, I just use rom manager to install it. But I've gone back and forth a few times recently with no problems. Just messing around the other day I installed a 4.4 and set it up and then flashed twrp and backed up the 4.4. Wiped the phone went back to a 4.3 and then restored the 4.4 nandroid with twrp without any troubles. Apparently it's the initial install that you need cwm for, but caution is advised for now as the next time it may not work. I was bored and just messing around. As always YMMV!
Is there a way to flash cwm on the official firmware for this phone using Odin?

I believe that you need to get the .img file and change it into a .img.tar file to flash it in odin.

I had made my own cwm touch flash zip as others have instructed. You just flash it with twrp if that's what using and use twrp to reboot to recovery to see the newly flashed cwm touch recovery. Vice versa for installing twrp again. However; just remember, backups can only be restored from recovery they were made with.

Sure. I assume you have your previous version zip in case you want to flash back? I just have latest cwm touch and twrp 2.6.1.0. and twrp 2.5 that I keep on hand.

Hi guys,
I was wondering if someone could post the kernel source code that was used for that clockword mod recovery. I need to create a insertable kernel module in recovery mode for the samsung galaxy note.

As long as your phone is a SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 (codename used in these forums "quincyatt" is the same thing) you can use a quincyatt recovery.

then I d/led Rom Manager and noticed that CWM Recovery had support for Photon 4G, so thought I'd give it a go
little did i know that the support was broken.

Yea, 2.3.5 is locked down atm. No custom recoveries. Are you sure you installed it with the rom manager app? You can boot into recovery? If you can, you should be able to just flash a zip to change recoveries

I had touch CWM but went with TWRP, whatever you chose, read the details of the OPs.
The version you already have works fine. What will you get with the new version?
Agreed,
Some users have reported problems using CWM versions above that of the root version.
I cant confirm this, but I agree with ranger on the current CWM version.
Nothing is gained but a higher number when looking to flash a newer version.
to my knowledge, no bugs are present in the root version....g

Yes, use the toolkit to flash a kernel.
Always use a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM to make a backup before flashing something - 1 st RULE

It could be because of the twrp version your using. Theres been alot of people having the same problem you are. You could try downgrading your twrp version or using cwm. I use cwm and flashed both those roms no problems. You migjt want to check the md5 hash as well you could be getting corrupted downloads.

It's recommended you flash a custom recovery regardless if u want to flash some mods or roms. It always comes in handy and you have the option to backup the whole system and create an image file, so you'll be safe, if anything goes wrong with flashing someday or you screw your system, you can always recover it with the custom recovery. Pretty amazing

Unfortunately, we are not allowed to recommend stuff here and advertise. Just look under android development and read the comments, I'm sure you'll fine a good one. Don't forget to backup your current system first and your data. When you're done, you can test out roms not worrying much about if they work or not
