nope, i tried to made my phone waterproof with air tight bag. i tried on the sink, its work, but i tried in the river, thats was happened. :crying::crying::crying:
does it chip broke down or you can just take it to service and wash everything?
Disassembly and dive the elements(not Camera, display etc) in special kind of alcohol, it will clean the components(they mostly do the same in the service)

Hey if your phone is not under warranty , then try to air blow the phone for a while and then keep it inside a ziplock bag with silica gel ( the one you get inside electronics devices) .. that will absorb the water from the phone. Otherwise search on youtube on how to open the phone and try air blow method.

Here is my short story:
I lost my phone in the garden, after 3 days of searching and as the snow melted, i saw it lying on the ground, unfortunately turned off. Dont think this happend because of low battery rather than because of the water.
After i found it, i immediately dissassembled it without turning on and now its drying..i will wait for some days, until i can get some isopropanol(97% alcohol or so).
The water-indicator is lilac, not shure, but this means damaged by water, right?
So now here are my questions..is there even a chance that the isopropanol might help?..because the phone was turned on as i lost it, and i think it stopped working due to the water, not because of low battery..so is it already to late? Does this method only help if the phone is still working?
And which parts should be bathed in isopropanol ? E.g. is it bad for the camera, the microphones, the screen and the speakers, as i have read somewhere?
And if for example the screen would be damaged, would it be bad for the logicboard, too, if i reassemble it again and test it then?
And is there any possibility i can find out which part is defect, if it won´t work at all?
Are there any other options left for me?
hope this doesnt happen to anyone else
greets, electro
I would guess your screwed mate. My girls phone was dropped in water for less than 2 seconds and it killed. You are stuffed as soon as it turns off because something has shorted

Weird... I've gotten lots of rain onto my phone, and no damage at all... But of course that's not the same as dropping it in the snow...
Sadly there is no 100% solution for water damage. My dad once in a while will give a bath to his phones and the best solution I have found is to put the phone in a plastic bag full of rice and leave it there for as long as you can.
Of 3 phones 2 of them were saved using this method (one of them was saved multiple times).
Good luck.

Where these phones still turned on as they got wet and you took them out of the water? Or had they turned off theirselves already?
Which parts of the phone should be bathed?
Thanks guys for your hope
Put it in a bowl of rice for a few days to let it dry out and see what happens.

It's worked for my old N73, but don't know will it work for GS2. but you can still try it
Just the board. If you drop the phone in it, it will damage other components. Then get a tooth brush and gently clean the board while alcohol is on it. Then check the battery for corrosion on the contacts to see if its fried. If so get a new one soon

keep it away from mics. clean gently as above mentioned with a medium toothbrush. clean all the board but also clean the connectors such as the connector of lcd both on logic board and lcd itself. clean also all gold contacts such as antenna contacts, buzzer contacts ands earpiece contacts.
isopropanol should be sold on every pharmacy. and if you can find glass fiber sticks to clean gold plated contacts as i mentioned above only if they are corroded.
I have dissassembled my device to the logicboard+camera, there are no mics on it anymore, only problem might be the camera connected to it.
The rest of the phone(display, which is glued to the fronthousing i think, usb-connector, and speakers)is still in the front housing.
I´m on step 6 in ifixit.com teardown, only with camera still connected, if you want to see pics.(sry cant post links)
Everything is covered in rice for 24h now
Would it be okay for the camera to be bathed in alcohol? Because the camera is still connected to the logicboard, and i am not shure whether i should dare disconnecting it..its a very thin connector..??
Did anybody revive his device, which was already turned off because of the water damage? Is this even possible in theory, if the device already shut down itself?
I dont get my hopes up to high
But thanks all for your help mates

Usually the water will only freeze the phone and will remain on until you take the battery out or the battery power is depleted.
Just take it apart and put it in the bag of rice and forget abut it for a couple of days (*you should have already done this by now*).
As for the alcohol cleaning I'v never done that. The idea of the alcohol is to prevent rust but the rice will remove all humidity out of the phone.
Ok so after 4 days of drying, it now shows a triangle and a battery symbole.
Better than nothing i suppose, at least the screen seems to be working
Does anybody know what that symbole means? Is just the battery faulty(my hope)?
Battery or USB plug problem.
Try other battery, if that doesn't help, get new usb board thingy from ebay

Great news! I had the chance to try a battery from a friend, and it worked!!
Already ordered a new one, although I am not sure, maybe the voltage from the old one is just too low and recharging would solve the problem, but dont want to risk anything
Thanks for your responses all

Could be. They are not waterproof, they are splash resistant. Still wish it's only a minor incident

Actually rice is a natural absorbent, it can in fact, save your phone as it has with my iPod Touch 32gb, though not a razr, it has all similar mobile device components inside, and I didn't even take it apart, left it in a Tupperware full of rice for a few days, after I used a good hair-dryer to evaporate the large stuff. We're still talking about a non-serviceable internal battery (just like our Droid RAZR).
Even though it didn't properly start-up within a day after leaving it in the rice for a few days, the darn thing started right up as if right out of the box about a week later.
So lesson learned, technology is amazing, unpredictable, and very servicable, no matter what.
Though, the idea of taking it apart is a good one because by having water damage your warranty is voided atm.
Go for it!!! :good:

Taking it apart will not stop the warranty from being voided. There is a water sensor that was activated the moment it got wet and cannot be returned to its original state.
Rice only gets rid of humidity, corrosion will start anyway. It WILL destroy the phone sooner or later.

There is a 'sonic' bath or somethiing like that that you can perform that is supopsed to get rid of corosion, but you would have to find someone with equipment to do that. Assuming of course that connecting it to the charger did not fry it.
Sorry to hear about your badluck.
Disconnect from btty.
Chlorine should dissipate but you could have problems if you tried charging prior to the phone being fully dry, or if the btty was left in for too long. Alcohol is usually used to clean electronics but I forgot what type doesn't leave a residue.
The rice bath for a couple of days should dry the phone (alcohol also helps to dry the phone), but I would be concerned about btty damage. The content of the btty could have leaked.
If you have insurance turn it in!
i remember using rubbing alcohol, aka methanol should work. try taking a look at XDA tv. there was one instance the guy was *****ing about the Razr not having a removable battery and he opened his galaxy nexus and dipped it in methanol

if you do take it apart pick up some Denatured Alcohol from a Home Depot type store and use that to clean the inside. It will help prevent corrosion and it is perfectly safe to use on any part of the phone.
My friend had the same thing happen, he took off the back took out only the battery, then grabbed alcohol 99% and distilled water, made a 50/50 solution and put it in a ultrasonic jewelry cleaner for like 30 min, then in a bag of silica gell (those tiny paper bags that say to not eat) Left it there for 2 days, works just fine.
Rice fixed it two days open sd card slot n it working like a charm

Dude, without doing any research on the phone and being completely ignorant but im gonna go ahead and take a wild guess. THIS PHONE CANNOT BE TAKEN SWIMMING, it might be waterproof/splashproof like in a shower but when you go in a pool and swim its a lot more pressure, the phone cant take that. Maybe im wrong but even some waterproof watches i know cant be taken swimming

Agreed ! 1m for 30 mins is what its rated/tested 1m is about waist height roughly any more than that its not reliable to be waterproof so even a drop to the bottom of the pool wouldnt be safe , open the moistureprotection covers throw it in a jar of rice leave it overnight hopefully that will draw any moisture out , the indicator light is just telling you your battery is full now

Because you took it swimming! rofl
you said you opened it up and dried it did you disassemble completely it or just remove the back cover? chances are that once the water got in and with the battery constantly connected you could have something short out on your mobo . If you cant disassemble it you how do you know its dry, trying the rice overnight is worth a shot not guaranteed as a fix but it should draw out any moisture , flashing software wont fix a hardware problem caused by water damage

Hi!
I used my xperia Z2 in a pool with freshwater as far as i know, and took pictures. I've tried it underwater a few times before and I never had problems with the phone until now. After taking a few pictures and recording some 30 sec to 1min videos, the screen suddenly began to flicker and then it died. I dried it as much as i could, and opened the flaps to see if water had entered the phone, and saw some small drops of water inside it, and also noticed that the headphone jack had alot of water inside, which must have been "stuck" inside there, as I had to use a headphone jack to get it out. There was also some condensation under both the front- and backcamera. I tried to turn it on the next day, after I didn't see any condensation under the cameras anymore, but unsuccessfully. I plugged the charger in, and now the red LED turns on (screen doesn't turn on), and turns off after a few seconds/minutes, but it does not react to any buttons. I've also plugged it into my laptop with Sony PC Companion installed, and I hear the "device connect" sound, and also the "device disconnected" sound when I disconnect the USB cable. Is there anything I can do to save it, without having to send it to Sony now?
Should have put it in the rice for a few days and wait till it dries off. One day is not enough because the phone is quite sealed and its hard to get water out of there. Turning it on could have been stupid thing to do and could have destroyed the phone. Anyway try to put it in the rice in a dry place for 3 or more days and then try again. If it doesn't work then sorry bro.

This is because the waterproof is literely useless, sony says no Chemicals aka anything that isnt your shower/bath/freshwater stream or river/freshwater lake/tapwater
Other words, no swimming pools or sea

Well, Sony actually says that you can use the phone in the following wet and dusty conditions:
You can use your device:
in dusty environments, for example, on a windy beach.
when your fingers are wet.
in some extreme weather conditions, for example, when it’s snowing or raining.
in fresh (non-saline) water depths of 1.5 metres or less, for example, in a fresh water lake or river.
in a chlorinated swimming pool.

Nice find Kevin. In this situation they think I should repair your phone. However, Z2s have manufacturing defects that make those port seals no really tight and when they aren't water gets in. That voids the warranty. Logic is strong with Sony. Mine still hasn't come but when it does, hopefully tommorow, I will take it to a Sony Centre to make sure it is water resistant.
I sent mine back to a service center through my carrier 2 weeks ago. Today I got a new one without paying anything for it I also think of taking it to a Sony Center to check if it's water resistant.
same problem

Hi,
I submerged my xperia z2 last night in the swimming pool (with chlorine) . It's been 12 hours since I submerged my phone. Every thing is running perfectly except for my headphone jack. The first time I used my earphone there's small amount of water coming out from the hole. The headphones is not working because it's not fully dried from water? I tried cleaning it up and blowing some air for some particles to get dry but it still not working.
I need help please because my phone is not insured because I bought it online
What should I do?!
Wash it with clean water for one min. And then try to get out as much water you can, and let it dry for few hours. It will work.

I am just sharing my case.
I had the same like you, my headphones getting disconected or not recognized at all (due to chlorine i guess), so i wash just jack openin with strong water, kick out the water on towel, and let it dry for about hour.
After that everything works normal, and i wash my phone regulary.
But be advise, i am not responsible for your phone, i am sharing my experience, and its up to you will you give it a try or not.
