Different bootloader, and it doesn't seem like it uses UEFI for the motherboard firmware, the system wasn't built for Windows.

You completely glossed over me saying that it doesn't seem that the tablet may not even use UEFI for its motherboard firmware, without it, NTLDR won't work (Windows bootloader).
Until we can prove that UEFI exists on these tablets, even if we manage to install NTLDR and Windows 8.1 on these tablets, it'll brick as NTLDR wouldn't know how to boot on a system without BIOS/UEFI.

I'm fully aware of BIOS, and the reason why I didn't talk about BIOS is due to its heavy reliance on legacy hardware In fact, BIOS will not work without a keyboard. That and the fact that it's written in 16-bit. No one wanted to keep BIOS for this long, the motherboard industry was dragging their feet until recently when they all migrated out of BIOS to UEFI.
Embedded devices like tablets and mobile phone do not use BIOS due to its legacy requirements and the only other motherboard firmware that can boot NTLDR on regular Windows is UEFI, so that's why I never made the reference to BIOS because it doesn't make logical sense to even include BIOS into the discussion.

How do I run OS, and rom loaders on a MAC. I would like to load a rom that fixes the wifi problem with my Verizon XV6800. Please can someone help. Thanks
You don't.
Unless your Macintosh has an intel processor and has some sort of Windows emulation (bootcamp parallels, wine, etc.), you can't. There isn't a way to do this straight from OS X.
Syncing your PDA with Mac is easy with the help of The Missing Sync or PocketMAC but updating your firmware, you'll have to use the next best PC in your area.
Good luck
Windows XP
Can anyone send me windows XP so I can duel boot and flash my XV6800 rom? I have parallels but no windows. Thanks

No. That's asking for wares which is against forum policy. You can download a trial from Microsoft and use it that way.
Be careful when running ROM upgrade tools within a VM on a mac. I got stuck in bootloader and the VM wouldn't see my phone at all. I had to find a PC in my closet to break it out I can only say this is true with Parallels though - VMWare may work better in this case but I've got no way of knowing.
try flashing from your microSD card

I had the same trouble.....funny my old treo could be flashed in a Parallels VM with no problem, and ESN repairs on sanyos also work in it.
I noticed that if you keeep the mouse moving, it will be more likely to complete the flash....however that makes no sense!
Thanks
Thanks for the replys. Sorry for asking for wares.
Is there any possible way or anyone who can help make this happen? I've got a windwos 8 computer...and my God was that a mistake...nothing, even the wireless card built in, has been being nice to me on that thing...anyway, I don't think any root methods work on it, I tried the one from HTC site and no luck...

I think it's a driver issue with Win8 a lot of people are having issues unless they are using Win8 Pro

The driver issues are only if you have a new Windows 8 Device. If upgraded from 7 to 8 Pro, you should be able to root and use the drivers, if you had them installed in your previous version of Windows. (Unless you do a clean factory reset of the Windows 8 device when installing Windows 8 Pro. That just f**ks up everything that has to do with Android.)
So to answer OP's question, find a Win7, or hell I say it Vista computer and have a blast. Unless Microsoft wants to release a patch to this, then you're basically screwed if Windows 8 is the only option in your house/office.
The topic tells the story I guess. On Windows I have no problem with connection no matter USB debugging is on or off. However under Ubuntu, I can not connect the device. It just not recognized. I have never had such problems with any of my android devices in the past.
I Googled a little but nothing I found helped. Hope there are other people using their computer with Ubuntu 14.04.
Ps: I am not an expert on Linux but I was able to solve some problems.
Thanks

Exactly, I just plug it in and it always worked. Maybe it is because I have adb and fastboot installed, I think they come in an android pack (I don't remember the package name).

I'm trying to boot Remix OS Legacy version on a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop, from a San Disk 16GB USB 3.0 drive. I've downloaded and burned the Remix OS to the USB twice but all I get is a Boot Loop.
The PC starts booting and I get the option to boot in Resident Mode or Guest Mode. Doesn't matter which I choose, it gets to the point in the screen shot below and the PC simply reboots over and over.
I've checked the BIOS and can't find anywhere to disable secure boot or anything like that. Any help or ideas Thanks!

When your pc starts, keep pressing F2 key. You will enter the BIOS menu. Go to the boot tab, select "Legacy Boot" mode and disable "Secure Boot". Change the boot structure from HDD to FDD. Press F10 to save and reboot. Done.

My nine year old ****ty laptop has legacy boot, dude, how is it possible you dont have it. If not, get an update from the motherboard's official website.
For example, some acer laptops did not have legacy boot mode, so, they released an update to it on their official website. Maybe, your manufacture did it too.

Well don't look anymore for secure boot because Inspirons don't have/support it.(Under system information mine says unsupported) I don't have any ideas/recommendations for you other than to redownload and reburn to usb because on my Inspiron all I had to do was change the boot priority order in the boot menu and whenever the usb is plugged in I boot to it.
I think Remix is still in alpha stage. From other side, there is to many diferent hardware, and it is hard to support all of them. My experience: I have Toshiba Satellite L775D AMD quad core wit AMD Radeon 6520G hd and 6GB RAM. I am very familiar with instalation of OSs on hdd, I have 4 Linux distros, 1 Android x86 and 1 Windows 10 on same hard drive (multi boot, runing GRUB from Arch Linux), but I can't boot Remix. Also, I can not boot Android x86 Lollipop and Android x86 Marsmellow. I can boot Android x86 KitKat and have one installed on hdd. From other side, on my wife Acer Aspire, I can boot all of these stuffs.
Sory dude, but I think you simple have no luck with your hardware and Remix. Maybe things will be better in future for you (and for me).

Workaround for dell inspiron is to use PlopKexec boot manager. Don't know if it will work for HDD but I got USB 32bit version working on my Dell inspiron 1545 using it.
32bit works for me!
Got an old Dell GX620. 64bit gave endless loop symptoms. 32bit works like a charm! :good:
My Toshiba Sattelite C50d-a-13w can boot remix and android x86(_64) from 5.1 to 7.1 ...................
I realize that this is way overdue, however Dell laptops back then did not support secure boot, and while they did support both UEFI, you could not enable or disable either, you just had to manually specify each time you boot from USB what you wish to boot (and Dells use F12 for manual boot).
As to whether RemixOS boots or not, that is down to the specific hardware and OS version.
I have an Intel DH55HC motherboard, and Remix OS booted on it without issues, until the last versions, where it would keep failing to boot.
Hi friends,
Been reading a lot on XDA lately. The idea is to flash my tf201, which I just bought for small money, to a more recent rom. A lot of threads with tutorials on xda date from 2011 and 2012 so a lot might be outdated or obsolete. I have reasonable skills like working with windows/linux/command line, but a lot of therms used sound quite new to me.
So my question; does anyone know a good recent tutorial on youtube how to do the job with windows 10? Where can i find the right tools to do this job?
Thanx in advance,
Steve
1st step is to unlock the stock bootloader, the file can be found here; http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/EeePAD/TF201/UnLock_Device_App_V6.apk
If I remember, I was able to run this via the file manager.

Thanks Nektopoli,

Thanks Nektopoli,
Got the prime unlocked using the [Guide/tutorial] Asus Transformer Prime/TF201 stock to Android 7.1 Nougat on this forum.
Now got stuck on part 4b NVflash.
Have the universal naked drivers installed but as soon as i connect the asus in APX mode, the pc (windows10) does not recognise the asus and says "unknown usb device, request for driver signing failed" instead of an external drive called APX.
Tried installing in Windows device manager, didn't work.
Did the trick with advanced startup settings to disable driver signing, didn't work either.
I used an old Windows 7 laptop and Minimal ADB and Fastboot, I don't think anyone has had any luck using a Windows 10 system.

I tried installing the drivers on a win7 32 and 64 bit laptops. Both times i get error "The INF File You selected does not support this method of installation".
Next i tried on both to install with device manager. Connecting the tab in APX mode gives an "unknown device" as windows notification. When i manually update the driver using install from disk it says: the selected folder does not contain a compatibel driver for your device.
Any ideas?
