Stock Recovery - D800 (may work with others) - G2 General

Before I installed TWRP, I extracted the stock recovery in case anyone needed it for some reason. The zip file contains the recovery.img file and instructions.

You can find the D802 recovery here. I'm just curious as to the method of installing it.

Well you can get it easily if you have a vzw kdz then use the kdz/tot extractor in the dev section and convert the recovery.bin to recovery.img using an app like magiciso

Well the way the op recommends it is:
1 - Copy recovery.img to root of SDCard
2 - Open Terminal Emulator (or adb shell) with root and run the following command-
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
3 - Reboot
But I don't know if that would work in all cases/haven't tried, the other way to flash it is by getting into fastboot mode via adb or something and using following commands:
-fastboot erase recovery
-fastboot flash recovery recovery.omg

Is this OK for 4.4.2 20c FW? I see the original post is from last year. Just don't want to brick my newly bought phone. I just did root and install TWRP recovery. Now I see there is a 20u update and read that upgrading will result in bootloop. I wanna get back to stock recovery so I can safely upgrade

Did you manage to do it?
I needed to update too, similar thought process. Wondering whether i can flash this *.img using Flashify. I also made a backup of my stock recovery.img before I installed TWRP, could that be used either?
And most importantly, was the OTA update smooth after you got stock recovery back?
Worst case scenario, no TWRP recovery & unable to boot...

You can try manually install scripts but if you want to install it using .zip files you have to install CWM. I guess you didn't unlock bootloader so you should try this cwm for locked bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095825

It sounds like you have the same problem is I did; rooted, custom recovery, stock rom. You just need to find a stock recovery (search this forum) and flash it to your mobile. After that you will be able to update OTA. I used the tool from hansson2000 (don't remember the exact name..). Very easy.

[Q] How to flash a new recovery ROM?

I recently went through the process of trying to update my recovery rom (yes, all rooted up already!).
The problem I was running into was while the tools (TWRP manager, ROM Manager, Goo Manager) all said the recovery was flashed successfully it wasn't.
During the course of my many attempts (which included some hangs, removal of the battery, etc) all of a sudden the updated recovery ROM appeared!
I have no idea what sequence of events resulted in the right behavior, either the tools are not really flashing properly, or there is some black magic (more likely) process which is restoring the recovery ROM.
What's the proper process to change/update your recovery ROM?
Sure yo are rooted but what firmware are you on, unless you're on mdk you can't flash recovery. So if your firmware says me7, mi1, or mj7 you're sol (ull find it under baseband in the about phone setting)

Just tried this process to upgrade to newest CWM recovery 6.0.4.7 (currently on 6.0.4.4). COuldn't update via rom manager (again says it flashed successfully but still running old version).
When I run the install-cwm.cmd script in that loki package, I get a permission denied when it tried to run the loki.sh script on my phone.
Any more ideas??

How to root MM without downgrading?

Excuse me guys. I just wanna ask if anyone already found out a way to root MM without downgrading? Ive lost my root and recovery last time so i reflashed using xperia firm latest mm build because old ftf files is already not available. Any way to get root?
I'd like to know, too. I lost root access somehow when I flashed (via TWRP) a pre-rooted Marshmallow zip (23.5.A.0.570) that I built. I suspect that it might have been caused by using the wrong version of SuperSU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try kingroot....
Can anyone confirm if kingroot works?

If you have unlocked your bootloader.....then you can go for "Advanced Stock Kernel for MM" ....it has inbuilt recovery in it.....just flash latest SuperSU zip and you are rooted.

Daily driver.
I downloaded the zip and tried to flash it. In TWRP it starts to extract files with the progress bar only a 1/4 of the way over and after about 10 seconds it reboots back into recovery as if it crashed. I figured it was a bad download so I downloaded it again and tried a second time and same thing. not sure if it a bad upload or what I am doing wrong. I am using rooted version. Thanks
