hi i've got a samsung omnia hd i8910... i think that symbian sucks and i've seen that there are a lot of porting for other mobile phone. so i ask you: can you create a way to install wp7 or android on i8910? the hardware of this phone is not bad and now there is also the overclock made by HyperX (up to 900MHz) .. so, someone can try to find a way to upgrade this phone to a really OS ? sorry for my bad english.
please help us, we are a lot with this problem!
up... please help us!
up please... help
hello everybody!
i am an omnia hd's owner too!
i think this smartphone is superb!the only limit is the symbian 5th O.S. infact i'd like to know why samsung team put this instead of android and didn't released any important update.
if android porting isn't possible, anyway i hope symbian 3^.
thanks for any help in advance!
i've knew that in past the problem was the boot loader. but i've read also that it was unlocked.
so where is the problem now?
the cpu is the OMAP3430 so i think that there is no problem to a android porting because the motorola droid has it too...
or maybe a porting of the maemo os, infact n900 has a OMAP3430.
help us... we want that our phone rise again, because we paid it a lot not so time ago.. and it has a very good hardware...
AFAIK No one else on this forum has one and no one is going to buy one to dev for you unless you donate.
i will donate if you could find codec dark edition room for me
I have this now. Great phone. I still use it mostly for the speakers.
I would love to see Symbian 3 Belle on. It's near impossible I guess. I wish Samsung had not ditched dual speakers.
Samsung really bombed this phone. A little more wide spread release and support with update to later versions of Symbian and it would have been soooo much better.

Maybe a very stupid question but is it posible to port any other os to sgs2? Like linux or meego or any other??
It's very much possible to do that. It's only a matter of time before we see that happen.
There are already many phones that are running on ported os. However it may not make it to an Os for daily use.

Very possible as long as theres a driver for each device on that particular OS, probably only iOS cant be ported due to its closed source nature.
well i know about iOS and i would bought an iPhone if i wanted iOS. I got my sgs2 as gift, so i didn't chosed android, and i like android but i do like bit more Metro UI etc WP7 it would be nice if we could p[ort it one day

hey man stop drinking... that **** powerfull xD
no its not possible to run ios on android phones.
you should look for MIUI roms. they are iphone like.
and if you want ios you should look for an Iphone not android powered phone
i think about the question : when you want iOS buy an Iphone
So... if I understand, you want an android to run an emulator to run android? No. Perhaps I don't understand.

But iOS is running on HTC Magic but u sad this is not possible on adroid phones
Im not an expert , but android is an open source where developers can see the codes & modify it the way they want ... and for sure they can modify it to work on an Iphone or Ipod hardware
on the other hand, IOS is closed source ( with zillion lock!)
so it's almost impossible to make it running on other devices,,, and if it does it will be only 20% functional
short story long,,, users who switched to android are fed up because of IOS and it's lack of any customization whatsoever !! ALL Iphones have the same look ! it's like all Iphone users are wearing blue jeans and black shirt !!!
so I dont think there are a lot of android users willing to give away the freedom of the android & use IOS !!
Without getting into a debate over iOS vs Android, it isn't possible to run iOS on the Mini Pro as it would require having an unlocked bootloader (which we do not have)

even if you have an iphone you would be unable to port it. its like writing something from scratch for the mini pro.
by the way stupid question.

Just I think it's interesting...
Anyway it's easier to port MIUI (and with easier I mean, less hard)
1. we need a unlocked bootloader.
2. need to write alot of code from scratch.
3. iOS sucks.
I could imagine someone wanting a linux distro... but iOS... seriously...

i swear in the ios 4.3.3 section they just posted stuff you can get in the repos of any decent linux distro but its probably impossible to install on mac without all that apple stuff

Btw miui - I have it on my Defy, and it's absolutely amazing.
And by hard you mean impossible porting to mp?

Could you please tell me you're almost done with MIUI? I would love that ROM on my mini pro
@OP: Keep dreaming, maybe one day you'll get it (in your dreams). Whats the point of running iOS on our MP anyway, even if someone managed to port it it would be laggy as hell.
BTW: iOS walled garden fail.

see the vid. LOL you will never get IOS on ANDROID phones.
and yes you can run android on a iphone.
i've been wondering if it's possible to make an Android ROM based on Froyo,Gingerbread or Honeycomb for Tablet have it running on a nokia n800? what do i need? if this is possible, nitdroid project has not been active for the n800 port, i have seen some video showing n800s running eclair or even froyo, but this people doesnt responde at all, nitdroid says the n800 port has been stopped and instead n900 port is in the making, i wanna give a try for myself if something can give me some guidance i would appreciate it so much
Thanks so much in advance
BTW
I managed to install nitdroid on my n800,. but we are talking about donut, and is kinda slow , dont have sound at all, and the main objective is to ditch maemo and to have android as primary OS in the tablet, before getting enough money to buy a MMP powered with android, like the samsung galaxy player 50 or some other android device equally small like the n800
Thanks again guys for any help
Hi! I've been developing apps for BB10 using cascades lately, and I would like to know if anybody is interested in that topic, and if you think it would be agood idea to have a thread for that (Sorry if I'm breaking any rules, I don't even know if BB10 devices are something xda users are inerested in)
Thanks in advance for your time and your attention.
ClowReedd.
Anyone interested in this?
... I don't know if nobody is interested in this platform, or if it is against the rules to request a forum for another platfomr as I did... I hope it is just against the rules, as it would be great to have more developers working on BB10 and cascades. The more competition there is, the better apps the final user will get
Thankd for your attention, and sorry if I'm doing something against the rules.

BB10 ? i think BB is so difficult to dev
bb
android is better than bb os
BB10 is awesome for devs!
I explored bb10 platform and it's awesome.People who develop for android can feel home here as they provide tools to port the apps with little or no coding. They support Native c++,adobe air,html5 apps.
The thing that interests me is they are very supportive giving away devices to devs and bounty promotions.
U guys have to understand that BB10 is evolving with time, see 10.2 is coming this or nxt month and it upgrades the Android runtime upgrades to 4.2.2
BB10 has android like in an emulated environment but can be easily usable with launcher app but currently it restricts many things like rooting and other but don't know abt that cause most devs and modders for bb10 are all-time bb users. So android hackers and modders may be able to root it.
Don't complain abt low app support, like bloatware on android phones which can be removed by custom roms.BB10 can use android app which are converted by tools which can be found everywhere.
I use most of the apps on my Z10 LE-instagram,snapseed,xda app,all....even games like NFS MW:victory:
Anyway just go through BB10 dev site and have a good time!
https://developer.blackberry.com/
Yes! I'm interested! The best thing of BB10 is that it natively allows Qt development!
