Hi guys I'm on bionix 3 with JACs OC kernel with the latest voodoo and color fix installed. Since I installed the newest kernel my rotation has stopped working in all my apps. I downloaded an app to test my orientation sensor, everything is set to 0. I also dropped my phone after I installed the kernel so maybe that could be the reason...any ideas? Is there a way to test if items software or hardware related? If it is damaged hardware, should I unhappy and go to t mobile? any advice is greatly appreciated thanks!
Revert your phone to complete stock and see if it begins to work again. If it doesn't, then your best bet is to bring it back to Tmo.

thanks ill try to remove the lagfix and ODIN back to stock.
if i were to take it to Tmo and the stock rom didnt fix it, would they replace it under warranty, you think?
I'm almost positive they will replace it. Just don't tell them you dropped it!

Happened to me, requested a new phone because it would not orient even after wiping.
So I get the new vibrant and go to town and wipe again, removing superuser su busybox, when in one app I realize it orients....
It had been on lagfix and orientation worked. I moved it to ext2 on sdcard, orientation worked.
So I blame an app or something else I have not redone on this replacement.
Btw check your compass, stuck at north too isn't it?
Edit: Wasn't me knocking it off the couch if a wipe fixes it.....

some apps automatically put the phone in landscape, like the youtube app once you watch a video, but if you press back and get to the main youtube app page it will stay in landscape but it wont rotate to portrait at all until you get to the home screen which i have locked onto portrait....ill wipe and odin to stock and see what happens, but what did you t-mobile when you gave it to them? and how do exchanges work exactly? ive never done one before with a phone, do they switch you out right then and there or do they mail you a replacement?
Thanks guys for your suggestions =]

If you turn off auto orientation and exit your media apps, phone is in portrait, makes it more usable until you wipe phone.
I am not sure the stores do it past the 2 weeks, you call tmo and they might ask you to try things until they send you a new phone via ups, you put old one in a box and put the return label on and drop it off at a ups store to send it back, if you take more than 7 days, you get to pay for the replacement
pretty painless process unless you are impatient and say sure, charge me $21 for express shipping.
hm ODIN'd back to stock, works like a charm, thanks guys! must have had a bad flash or something...

doubtful, it's something else, i have not flashed anything since the update.zip to root it, and it failed to orient long time after that, wish i knew what did it

Hmm that is strange, but there were a lot of weird things happening when I had the rom and kernel combo I had before. I had long wake up lag, intense battery drain, and no rotation, but I odin'd, rooted, flashed the same things again and everything works fine now, I even titanium restored some apps and settings ran fix permissions and nothing weird happening yet. Idk what could have caused it before...
My accelerometers are very flaky -- I have been assuming it's related to my nearly-useless compass and my completely non-functional GPS. I use "Digital Speed" whenever I drive my '55 (which has a broken speedo cable at the moment) and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Completely random, even after a fresh reboot.
Same problem here. Running Bionix 1.4. First noticed a problem when I installed a game that needed tilt to operate, it wouldn't work. Then I checked and the homescreen won't flip. Test apps show "no data" or "INIT" and no actual values for the sensors. I'm using the OC Voodoo version, is this a common thread with the problem?
Don't restore system setting from backup. It can kill the orientation. This is my experience.

Didn't.
I upgraded to Bionix 1.5 without Voodoo and the problem is gone. I thought maybe the 1.5 update fixed it, but another user is reporting the problem while on 1.5. I believe the Voodoo kernel is to blame at this point.

A full wipe worked for me, then again i never used anything too crazy. His experience suggests you should try it, oddly enough for me running the calibration tool, the error message talked about a stale nfs file
Reminds me of deleting battery statistics to reset the battery meter on other phones......and the full wiping/odin flashing nukes it.
Everything works fine on the replacement too with the same apps and fixes (minus lag fix) as before (orientation working wasn't found to be working before i already got a replacement on order :/ ), only thing i hate is gmaps 4.5.1 causing a load of 8.x+, enough to once get everything killed (uptime did not change although everything was reloaded, media was scanned as if it had rebooted) and a shut down the other time.
Call Recorder from a line works now!
Works only on froyo. I am test it on 3.4.2-155-2. Do not work on eclair(android 2.1), phone does not boot after install. Do not work on Gingerbread.
1) Install from CWM attached zip
2) Install Total Recall Call Recorder, you can use another program, but i test on this. Used codec mp4
All calles from a line are successfully written. Records your voice and a voice of the caller
Files for library are taken from the Chinese fimware JDGC_U6_1.11.0
Thanks we tell forceg from 4pda.ru, the idea was his.

So, what makes all the call-recorder apps fail on non-China froyo was the lack of those libraries.
i was looking for this for a long time! i even installed 1.11 CN to have call recording.... please can you tell us if you call someone, is the "beep" present every 10 secconds?
Thanks a lot!!
Ok I can confirm that yes this works on CEE 3.4.2-155-002; and yes still beeps every 10s.
Thanks for finding root of the issue. Yes unrafa, it will be in the next version heh.
Im ready to flash barebones yeah! lol
im glad to see this solved finally ; now the beep really goes against the core values of personal choice and freedom.
Aside that, very good news thanks!

What would be cool it would be the whole chinese dialer ported on CEE 3.4.2-155, so we'll have the built-in record button.
I'll stay tuned on your barebones, and, in the meanwhile i will try that by myself
Is there a stock app that goes with this?

Ya I'm looking into that too. Might be a future version, but I think it can be done. It install's fine, opens but closes instantly (not a force close). So its more a matter of finding all the dependencies. But like I've said peeps waiting on v1.3 so that first (tomorrow this time it will be up).
replacing those libs is kind of a solution, except that you need
3rd party software, which is so annoying.
galaxy had similar solution, but they do have a working phone.apk
could some one look into this where i'm stuck at, please?
ps. i actually posted the reqiured libs (all credits go to the galaxy
people who found out which libs to relpace) a month back in another
thread (Pays ROM, I think). But it seems not many were interested,
at least not for the blurphone.apk part.
More annoying is the beep every 10 sec Call recorders are plenty in the market but the phone keeps sending this horrible beep every time no matter what app you use to record :-\
Thanks to _ReBoot_!
I am trying out the app now, seems like if you keep the record setting to 'None' and initiate the recording manually then the Beep sound is eliminated.
Some minor bugs:
- If you click on the notification panel icon then it starts recording, but then when you try to play the file, no sounds are reproduced (this is done when calls are not on -going, during actual calls it works just fine)
- While saving the file when performing the step listed just above, the file name appends the last called contact name (if contact name is available).
Apart from that too good an app, very nice recording, the speaker recording was awful and the volume was inconsistent. Thanks again!
I cant believe that after so many tests i have done (really i have like 50 calls to 123 free customer service) , are you sure you actually have a 2 way call record without beeps?
Which Rom / Recorder did you use?
confirm working on defy with orange poland rom 2.2, i use androcorder with default settings, imo a bit better quality than total recorder but it still beeps....
thank's ReBoot, put this driver in my last rom!
works well on 3.4.3-11 pays 5.0. each ~9second beep exist, but it is quiet enough and not bothers.
thank you,work!

it doesnt bother if its a 60 secconds conversation but it bothers a lot try to have a 10 minute conversation thats more than 60 beeps. it annoys a lot ;(
Hi guys, I own a Italian Defy MB525 for 10 days, I've flash the official finland froyo 2.2 (3.4.2.-145), and install the totallRecall, I could only record the incoming voice with a slight beep, now I've installed the audio lib with recovery zip installing 10 minuts before without cache wiping, just reboot, trid to make a couple call, to my surprise now I can record both incoming also outcoming voice with NO BEEP. I think I will not flash no other further version rom, this works just for me.
Are you sure? sometimes it doesn't beep because its not recording and you only realize it when you see there's no file. Are you sure you have a recording with no beeps?
Did you flashed a 3g fix or baseband?
Stupidest workaround for continuous beep found!
Just press any number!! When recording is running press any number and there won't be any beeps during the call.
Just found it by accident
I have searched on phone issues and even messagebank... There was a post that seemed similar but not the same.
Unfortunately I can't say just where this issue came in; I only noticed it yesterday and, as mentioned in another thread, I have been trying out ROM flashing. My GUESS would be it has to do with flashing 'modem_CWM_I9300XXDLH7' but that is purely a guess because it is call related.
I have flashed a stock ROM, GT-I9300_XSA_1_20120710170916_9xjds9h0pm to install an Aussie ROM (phone from Kogan and was German model) and more recently flashed 'Kernel_CM10_20120820_Official_CWM' in preparation for trying a JB ROM. (I am planning on using 'I9300XXBLH4_Jelly_Bean_4.1.1_Clean_Stock_Rom_Nandroid_Backup' for a first try)
SO, phone seems to be working well; I managed to crash it (stuck on Samsung screen) but have backups that brought me back up to where I was without too many issues.
But, I noticed yesterday I got a Telstra Messagebank notification for a missed call/voice message. It says it came from +101 but when I click the notification it takes me to a Telstra recording saying the number is not connected. This used to work. Dialling 101 works just fine and I have looked to try to locate where the phone has decided MB is now +101 but can't find it.
It's not a biggie, and I figure maybe I need to call Telstra to get their info resent or something, but it is a little annoying to have to dial each time instead of just press the notification.
Any ideas of what to try? I'm about to flash the JB ROM so if that fixes it I will be back (hopefully without dramas ) soon. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
XXBLH4 is a really old JB leak, flash XXDLH8 instead (DLH9 is newer but has a keyboard bug)
As for your problem, I don't know what to tell you but your carrier won't be able to help you as you have unofficial firmware on your phone and that may be the reason and they will only be able to assist you in regards to the official Telstra fw.
Is it really that big of a deal to dial 101?

that is a strange one. It seems as though it's trying to dial 101 as an international call (with that plus in front of it making it a call to USA number 01), when it should have picked it up as +61 101.
Out of curiosity, what does it come up with when you tap and hold on the SMS and go to "View Message Details"?
@nodstuff - The reason for I9300XXBLH4_Jelly_Bean was because, a. I found it and the file date was something like 25/8/12, and because the description said it has been cleaned up and all bloatware removed. I don't recall seeing XXDLH8 for download but I am new here... I was thinking along the lines of getting something known and stable for my first JB flash.
@Dinty - I don't get a 'View Message' option on a long tap, I get a menu with, Call +101, Send Msg, Edit numbr, Add to Contacts, Send Nmbr, Add to Reject list, Delete.
Further info just noticed - older call from MB (30/8 - prior to new Modem flash) came in as Int'l M'Bank with #101# so somewhere the MB number has altered.
I doubt Telstra will have an issue with the FW etc. It isn't their phone. I bought outright and would be speaking to a rep - IIRC when I got my Moto Defy from the dealer a couple of years back they had to send me a txt which I saved and it set up the Telstra info on the phone. Might be mistaken in memory of that though...
@nodstuff - do you have a recommendation for a XXDLH8 ROM to flash? I'm looking for stable with some optimisation and as clean of standard apps as possible. I've got an Apps backup in Titanium Pro that I figure I can use to put my new apps back.
Also, is the Keybd issue with LH9 itself or just with some ROM's?
thanks for the help...

Well don't flash XXBLH4 so, its very buggy and not stable.
XXDLH8 is very stable and pretty bug free.
There are a few downloads for it (cwm flashable, Odin or an ota package. I suggest cwm or Odin method as the ota method is quite tricky.)

I believe you're talking about the automatic set-up service. I think this is what you mean:

Not sure it will have any effect on that messagebank issue, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to try!

Thanks for the link - that looks what I originally had to do over the phone, but then I didn't have a Telstra account set up at that point.Didn't work unfortunately. le sigh!
So, I am now the owner of a JellyBean phone, all working nicely and with my apps installed again. All went smoothly and I just chose my purchased and download apps from my titanium backup and Voila!!!
I took the advice and installed GT-I9300_WanamLite.XXDLH8.V3.0.RC4.NO-WIPE - I thought about the DLH9 version of it but saw a note in the thread about keybd issues, so, taking the advice above I DL'd the DLH8 version.
Only thing I have noticed so far is it seems a bit slow on the USB charging. Once it's at 100% I will disconnect and see if maybe power is draining too fast, then look at ways to improve battery.
Just did some trials of the MB issue and noticed something odd - if I try to create a Contact I am unable to enter numbers in the name field. I also tried to set up my mobile banking and using the app provided by the bank I cannot use numbers for my ID, even though it is an 8 number ID. The Keybd simply will not change to numbers until I go to the PW line - is this the keybd error you mentioned as being present in DLH9, nodstuff??
Hm... so I took a chance and flashed Wanamlite's keybd fix; the thread says it is for DLH9 but I figured what the heck, if it fails the phone I can easily reflash the ROM.
Seems to have worked. Gonna leave a comment over there about it because I seem to have noticed something not mentioned by others.
I broke my wifi tether. I am rooted STOCK via Adams Suck it Verizon program, I installed the record call mods and the ultra cool light saber sounds for my s pen. I added Wifi toggle button and the shutter sound option and black background thru csc menu. Tether was working used it to stream netflix on the PSC for about 4 episodes of Twilight Zone. ALL good so far. After I added the new custom Perseus kernal it stopped working.
No brainer right? must be a problem in the kernel that isnt addressed yet. Still got to love the great work from our Devs and not the end of the world. I created a stock Kernel from Adams Revision3 rom that I had already downloaded and put it in thru recovery.
Still no WIFI tether. Now I'm stuck my "no brainer" just became "oh eff." Anyone have ideas on what else may need to be done? Or what I might have done unintentionally. I can reboot to stock and start tweaking all over but I really didnt want to and please dont comment on the fact that I'm too much of an idiot to have made a back up before I lost the tether.:crying::crying:
I'm still interested in any ideas but I wont be able to implement the fixes anyway to try. Gave up and Reinstalled the rooted stock rom complete already.

Sooooo, I went back to Jasmine Rom, and activated the internal call recording function, which has proven to be helpful(crazy ex wife, not "murder" crazy, just likes conflict) I don't know if any of the current AOSP ROM offers this, but I've been reading a lot of "after my Nexus 5 updated to lollipop, this app to record doesn't work anymore" Does anyone else have any similar needs, and has found something that works for them?? Thanks in advance for any and all help
Took the plunge today anyways, now running AOSPA 5.0. Still looking to see if anyone has a solid app for recording calls in lollipop.

I've found a few, but none promise auto-recording, for free, like we had with G3 TweaksBox.
xposed for 5.0 is out now. Its in it's infancy but there is a module for call recording which might be working. not sure if it's auto-call recording and may require you to hit record each time but should replace add-call button with record button during a call.

I have Xposed installed, but I couldn't find the module. Can you provide a link? I just installed the CallRecorder app found here, and used the Standard API method, which seems to work okay. A lot of the trial/paid apps sounded like pure garbage on the G3.
Not a free app but there's a trial version available (10 days of usage iirc). Here's the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skvalex.callrecorder. I have device set as LG G2 (vzw) and recording method set to CAF. I'm running Blisspop and alternate between stock kernel and the 777 R6 kernel. Worked great until I either changed kernels or tried recording in mp3 format. Will report back after a few more calls lol.
