GS701B Tablet [ATM7013 CPU] Brick Repair - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

GS701B [ATM7013 CPU] Brick Repair
In this thread i am going to show you how to unbrick your gs7013b tablet without recovery mode.
Please be aware that i have spent a lot of time researching and sourcing the resources to be able to do this and it may or may not work for other MIPS tablets....
firstly you need to set up your computer environment (drivers etc)
Downloads
Actions Product Tool 1.02_02 (Developer Edition)
Firmware Files
When you have finished download the above files extract the actions developer tool to a folder on your desktop for easy access and do the same for the firmware files.
Now we need to get your tablet into ADFU Mode (ADFU = Actions Device Flash Utility)
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY OR YOU WILL HAVE NICE LOOKING SQUARE FRIZBY
firstly open up your tablet by popping off the rear panel.
when you have opened the tablet up you should have something like the below picture.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now to get the tablet into ADFU Mode connect your usb cable to tablet and computer and remove any memory card you may have inserted.
now you need to find a tiny flat screwdriver or knife or something similar and we need to short pins 7-8 or 8-9 on the tablets nand chip to force it into ADFU Mode while shorting these pins keep pressing power button until computer recognizes it.
see picture below.
NOTE: i have been informed by some users that the nand chip on their devices is actually soldered on inverted to find pin 1 simply look at the chip and in one corner there will be a little circle which is sort of sunk into the chip this means that pin 1 is on the same corner as the little circle..
when you get the tablet into ADFU Mode your computer will make a sound as if you have just plugged in a usb device. Your computer will now ask for the adfu usb driver which you should have in the Actions Tablet Product Tool 1.02_02(Developer Edition)\Tablet Product Tool(Developer Edition) 1.02\Driver\ folder on the desktop which you downloaded earlier. point windows to he driver and you should now have the device installed...
now goto the Actions Tablet Product Tool 1.02_02(Developer Edition)\Tablet Product Tool(Developer Edition) 1.02\Product folder and run the mainapp.exe
the tool will open and then ask for a firmware file choose the icecream_gl5201_q8_rgb.fw which was in the firmware files zip you downloaded earlier
Now when the tool has read it you need to click the button as in the picture below.
Now on the right of the tool there are a few check boxes etc LEAVE EVERYTHING ALONE apart from the 2 options i explain below
click the image button for FAT_MISC Partition and choose the ACTA.IMG you downloaded earlier in the firmware files.zip
no click the image button for System Partition and choose the ACTB.IMG you downloaded earlier in the firmware files.zip
Now click the big green button as in picture below.
when flashing is done reboot tablet if it doesnt reboot automatically
BOOM working tablet... you should now be able to use your tablet with what you just flashed or you can try a different rom using stock recovery
CREDITS
massive thanks to
Edo2013 (xda forums) for helping me with software and firmware sourcing and flashing.
EDIT: IF YOUR TABLET WILL NO LONGER GO INTO ADFU MODE AFTER BAD FLASH AND SEEMS TO BE TOTALLY DEAD USE THIS METHOD TO GET IT WORKING AGAIN

hi at which point in the above process do you get the errors?? i cant help you without a bit more information.. if the errors are during flashing then please try a different usb cable and make sure your in adfu mode by checking device manager.. also if you are using windows vista/7/8 it would be a good idea to run everything as administrator or turn uac off completely. make sure your computer is setup correctly and fully updated with the latest .net framework etc...

Q8 GS701B [ATM7013 CPU] hang on android logo
Very helpfull tutorial. Thank you.
But I've got a little bit different problem with my tablet. When I turning on my tablet during booting it is hang on android logo. I've tried all firmware from ele-china and tried also icecream_gl5201_q8_rgb.fw and CEMA10S24 but no one works for me.
When I use your method upgrade is successfull but it is still the same problem with hang on android logo.
I've tried also check box FLASH READ CHECK see attached screen shot. After that its appear checksum error and error 81.
Do you have any idea what can help wit this issue?

My gs701b tablet is not bricked but its touch screen does not work. I tried to download iccream rom you put here to my tablet and I tried another
Rom but touch screen does not work? Is that hardware problem or software. The problem occurred after upgrading to rom upgrade.fast.fw.
Thanks

you will have a hard time getting it to work what you need to try to do is pull the ts drivers from your previous working firmware and then insmod them to this one although doing this is not an easy process it took me week to get my tablet working again.. your ts dont work becuase it uses a different driver for touchscreen which is not the same as mine you need to find someone with the same tablet as yours and get them to give you a dump of there acta and actb partitions....
i currently cant give much support as i got rid of my gs701b tablets as it is a mips tablet and the support for mips is almost non existant becuse of its incompatibilty with almost all apps on the market and the lack of firmware for these tabs are almost also non existant..

I have flashed some wrong firmware that was supposed to be for tablet with a home button. Now it does not power on. Screen does not light up. When I plug it in with usb cable I hear windows notification sound. Then I longpress power button and I hear windows notification sound that indicates shutting off connected device. Doing so also makes it to disappear from device manager. As soon as I release the power button I hear a positive notification sound again and it reappears in device manager once more. So I am stuck at this point. I managed to install unsigned Actions USB 2.0 HS driver, this is how it appears on device manager. I have tried to power it on with cable connected while shorting nand pins but same thing happens.
* UPDATE * So I tried Again. Screen lighted up and is white. I opened tablet product tools. Added firmware and two images. Pressed the green large button. Process have started and got stuck at DOWNLOADING ADFUS ... 20% clock is ticking at 19 minutes now and the progress bar wont move.
* UPDATE * After 143 min and 30 secs i checked on the progress of downloading adfus. It was still 20% but I noticed that a small question window popped up "upgrade firmware" pressed OK. Progress bar went to 95% with title UNKNOWN ERROR. The clock has stopped.
* UPDATE * I have tried again. It takes about 60 minutes until I get the UNKNOWN ERROR an the flashing process stops. Maybe Im not getting into adfu mode? The tool program thing the tablet is ready for flashing as soon as I plug in usb cable or hold power button for 10 secs to shut it off and then release it. The screen goes white after download adfus reaches 20% and it takes about 5 seconds.
* UPDATE * Now I understand that small pop up window on tools program actually says "upload partition error".

i have never had this problem all i can suggest is trying to use a different usb cable or maybe even a different computer... i had something simular to this before a while ago an i took it to friends house and used his laptop and it went through the process perfectly..

Would like to say thanks handy trick work wonders, Aoson M723, (Actions ATM7029) was looking at upgrading, flashed incorrectly. Only issue now OTG is still not working and Gsensor is not working now
Just happy to have the tablet working again.
One minor issue, when I plug in the USB, the tablet shows the boot up image, little odd, what could the possible cause be for that ? I can only think of the actions USB driver causing the trouble how do I go about removing the driver ?

Dear sir, any chance that you have tried this one an Ainol Novo 7 Venus Lite. Mine is deep bricked and I can't even get it to be recognized on my Laptop, by holding Vol+ and Power. I got CXZ ADB drivers installed and the Pad tool Ver. 1.05, but nothing happens and I fear I need to open it up and shorten pin 5 and 6 as mentioned by fuser-invent here;
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/414...-amlogic-aml8726-mx-series-tablet-v20/page-30
His guide is not for the venus but for the Crystal.
Can you help me out here?
With kind regards

message: "Encryption unsuccessful"
Hi!
Everything went perfect with update with no errors. But after the android logo, when system is starting, I see message: "Encryption unsuccessful" and than folowing text: "Encryption was interrupted and can't complete. As a result, the data on your tablet is no longer accessible. To resume using your tablet, you must perform a factory reset. When you set up your tablet after the reset, you'll have an opportunity to restore any data that was backed up to your Google Account". There is a button "Reset tablet". After the reset, tablet starts I reach again the message above.
Any ideas what's going wrong? After update tablet did not starts alone, but I manualy press power button and it starts. Before power on, I see that update proces in MainApp.exe was finished.
And also I have no recovery options by pressing Volume UP + Power buttons.
And finaly: can I put other firmware to upload using that application, and should I use acta.img and actb.img whith any other firmware?
Thanks in advance!

I have been working on this tab for days, and I have the exact problem as this dude mentioned. I can't get into ADFU when I short the pins anymore, and i've been trying for over an hour, which means I can't flash again. No recovery options, no way to access USB debugging on the tablet, I can't figure this thing out. I think the cause might be manually restarting the device once it appears to be done but it really is not. Perhaps our impatience got the best of us.
Trio Stealth Lite 4.3 GS701b without home button. Please, please help us. Willing to donate a handsome amount, and i'm completely serious.

hi sorry for my ignorance i have been away on holiday...
the picture in the OP of the nand chip is a little misguiding.. i am guessing you have both tried pins 7-8 and 8-9 if so an its not working try the pins on the other side of the nand chip as some model version differ from others i have had 3 of these and had the same issue although i solved the problem by getting a thin sharp blade eg, craft knife blade and i pressed it onto all the pins on one side of the chip and this worked for me although be aware of the fact that you could possibly permanantly damage the nand by doing this... (but i have not ever damaged a nand chip or tablet doing this and this is now my preferred method..
Also try pins 5 - 6
and when shorting the pins also try to push the vol- or vol+ and the power button
there is no other way to get the tablet into adfu mode the only way is by shorting the nad and while you have the pins shorted turn the tablet on..
if you have any questions or need more info let me know..

That was genius because it worked. I just pressed a cream cheese knife against the opposite side and it booted into ADFU mode, first try. Thank you. here's some images, maybe you can include this in OP for future reference if the same thing happens, because after the flash it switches which pins need to be pressed.
Problem is, though, that I still get the "encryption unsuccessful" message after a successful flash. I can't access USB debugging, a factory reset doesn't get rid of the message, and I can't seem to find the recovery menu to flash a different ROM. Perhaps you know how to get into recovery/download mode? Or is that ADFU and I should find a different ROM to flash with that program? Here's a video if you want to see exactly what's happening. (It has my beautiful voice, lol.)
Thanks again.

At my tablet the flasher is getting stucked at 20% .
Is there any solution ?
Thanks !

Glad it worked for you..
as for the encryption problem i personally have never come across this and i would defo suggest trying a different firmware or maybe even a different version of the flash tool..
getting stuck at 20% is because you are trying to flash incompatible firmware..

Thanks for the reply but where to download correct flash for my tablet ?
ATM7013 , GS701b without home button .
Thanks !

[Q] Freelander PX2 Bricked?

Hi all
Today I received my freelander px2. I tried to follow the instructions posted here http://www.pandawillforum.com/showt...-PX2-MTK8389-Quad-Core-(update-Sep-6th-2013)/ to flash the device to the latest clean ROM. I got to the "Download" stage. I clicked the "Download" button and connected my Freelander PX2 with the USB cable.
I was having some issues making Windows 7 actually pick up the "MTK" device and load the correct driver. So I was playing around with the drivers and disconnecting and reconnecting the Freelander PX2 (Whilst leaving the Flash tool on DOWNLOAD mode, which was waiting for me to connect the Freelander PX2)
I must have reconnected it several times in the process of trying to make Windows 7 recognise the device. When I looked at the flash tool I noticed it had got to around 57% with the progress bar and stopped. I can only assume I managed to get the MTK drivers installed correctly at some point but tablet didn't really tell me new software was being uploaded to it. So basically I didn't know the flash tool was sending the new software to the tablet when I must have disconnected it during the process.
I can only assume I've interrupted the NAND flash process? When I try to reconnect the tablet now, it says "USB Device Not Recognized". There doesn't seem to be much support anywhere on the internet for this specific device or issue.
I've tried holding the power button for 30 seconds.. nothing happens
I've tried holding the power button plus volume up button for 30 seconds.. nothing happens
There's also no USB disconnect sound when I hold the power button down? Surely a hard reset should trigger a USB disconnect sound in Windows.
What are my options at this stage? Is it completely dead?
EDIT: Ok, this was a bit strange. I left it yesterday morning and declared it dead. Today I woke up, switched my computer on and plugged it in using a different USB cable and the driver was automatically installed as "MTK preloader". I didn't try to switch the device on yet though, as I wasn't sure if it being recognized was by chance. I didn't ask questions. I just immediately started up the flash tool, hit "download" and re-plugged the USB cable. This time the software finished upload with 100% and a green circle. Then it automatically disconnected from the computer. I hit the power button and it needed some time to charge again (maybe it drained itself last time). A few minutes later the OS booted completely fine. I don't know which one of those things made it worked, the new USB cable or leaving it to discharge for a day.. I just don't know. I'm not taking any chances though, the USB cable is being binned.
Have you flashed the CWM recovery for the px2 yet?
What do you think about the new firmware? I think its alot snappier than the old one. The CWM recovery works a treat (but you have no usb cable lol ) so you cant flash it. If you do want to put the recovery on it, let me know i can help. Cheers
PX2 Bricked
Hi,
Glad you got yours working :good:
I have exactly the same problem and now mine is not reconised :crying:
How long does the flashing actually take ?
When I connected it again this morning it it reconised it and the flash toll started to work.
The green bar and red bars both went to 100% then nothing after 5 mons so I unplugged it.
Now its bricked again :crying:
Any advice guys please ?
Reset
Hi mate sorry to here of your problems. Try pressing the little button between the sim slots, if that doesnt work, press volume + and then power button and keep pressed until it starts. When you flashed it did you get the green circle at the end?
If you get it recognized again do this: ENSURE YOU HAVE FULL BATTERY AND DO NOT INTERUPT THE FLASHING
1/ Start tablet and connect usb data cable, ensure it is connected as Media device (MTP).
2/ Unpack PX2_PC_24-10-13 update to a folder of your choice.
3/ Start Flash tool and click scatter loading on the right, and go to your unpacked folder you made earlier and select MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc check ALL boxes at the bottom are selected.
4/ Now click on downlod button, then switch off tablet. It will either ask to load drivers or start the flashing process.Wait until you see the green circle.
5/ Restart tablet. ENJOY
If you want to put clockwork recovery on it do the following:
1/ Download Freelander_PX2_130717_CWM_recovery.img in post #162 at pandawill put it in a folder and copy MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc from the folder above to the same folder.
2/ Start tablet and connect usb data cable, ensure it is connected as Media device (MTP).
3/ Start Flash tool and click scatter loading on the right, and go to your Freelander_PX2_130717_CWM_recovery.img folder you made earlier and select MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc only recovery option should be checked. Dont worry about the red writing.
4/ Click download and switch off tablet, dont worry about the warning just go ahead anyway, it will only take a couple of seconds and you should see the green circle again.
5/ To check it worked press vol+ and power button to get to recovery ( should be blue text ) if it is congrats you have clockwork recovery.
6/ Enjoy your tablet
Hi,
Thanks for your help but I fear it may be terminal,as when I plug the usb in now I get nothing.
gonna try on a different computor later.
If that fails I fear my PX2 will be leaving via the upstairs window
---------- Post added at 04:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:57 PM ----------
Well it wont even charge now !
I wonder if this could mean a hardware problem or a software not sure ?
Any Ideas guys ?
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
PX2 revival
Hi bazza500, try pressing the reset button between the sim slots it has saved me a couple of times when i thought i had bricked mine.
If you go to the pandawill forum under MTK tablets you will find a thread there dealing with an updated by users flashable firmware with cwm recovery.
Then later if you get it up and running there is a solution to extend the internal memory from 1Gb to 2Gb which reduces the storage by 1Gb. Hope you get it running buddy. Cheers
A few tips
Windows 7 has a glitch where by if the path has Chinese characters in it the flash tool with crash/error. Extract everything to your desktop and delete the chinese characters in the folder names.
Also there's a driver error in Windows 7. Make sure you use the driver install tool to install the MTK drivers. Also make sure the driver is installed and the tablet is recognised before you run the flash tool. That's the error I made, I tried to get the drivers installed whilst running the flash tool and the firmware started flashing when I hadn't realized.
Unlike Samsung and Apple, most Chinese devices don't give you a fancy progress bar on the device. There's almost no feedback the tablet or phone being flashed in most cases.
Thanks for the help guys................
Got my replacement today but have hooked it up to updrade and there was about 3 x colours went to 100% on progress bar now nothing for 15 mins !
Is this normal ?
Well a massive fail again.
Gonna send thos one back and get my money back.
Always a bad idea to by cheap o suppose u het what u pay for.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Ok been awhile but I now have a new one and managed to upgrade the rom.
Only one problem I keep losing phone signal ?
Any ideas?

[Q] Need help resetting my tablet (not a novice user)

Hello everyone,
First of all, let me tell you that I am very good at android rom flashing and stuff and know these things. Now, here is my problem.
1. I have Aoson M19 tablet, which fell and the lcd screen stopped working.. The touch still work as I can see the output on HDMI by connecting it to an external screen. It lied in its box for sometime before I took it out again...
2. It had a pattern lock, which I unfortunately forgot, so after trying many times, it is stuck asking for my email/password immediately after boot (however the wifi is disabled at start so it never goes anywhere)
3. The tablet does not have a volume button, It has a button for Power, Escape, Home and Menu. I tried all combinations possible (as much as I could) to try and boot it so that it is recognized as an Rockchip 2918 device on my pc connected to it, but it does not work at all..
4. I tried using adb but it never shows it as a device when connected..
So I would like to ask the gurus as xda on how can I get my tablet back by either installing a new ROM (if I can get it to be recognized as rockchip device I can install drivers for it), or some other way to bypass the pattern lock somehow. Maybe some sdcard boot trick which I am unaware of till now..
(Note: this is indeed my device, not trying to hack into someone elses). Any help appreciated...
Maybe this will help: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f90...pattern-problem-paswword-without-adb-1717216/
It was mentioned on the last page that Rockchip devices without Volume keys must connect the usb cable to PC and the port on tablet and press the reset button in the hole and the tab will be booted into the correct mode.
Tools: http://www.solidfiles.com/d/747bdce149/Rockchip_Batch_Tool_v1.7.rar
Firmware: http://www.szaoson.com/UploadFiles/Help/20130829102744_71726.rar ( 4.0 ICS v.1 )
My understanding is that the method for flashing Rockchip tablets is essentially the same across the board. So maybe try this guide for some general direction: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/
I don't know if this will work for your particular Rockchip tablet, but I also found this: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f90...re-tool-how-use-guide-share-sonualok-1786042/
Please keep in mind that I do not have said tablet and am only going off of info I have found on the various forums that people reported success with. Also, be sure you do have the RK2918 version as there is a dual core RK3066 model with the same name floating around that I had noticed. The link provided is for a 2918 version. Good luck!
es0tericcha0s, you are a star, let me try and i will be back with the results.. I hope something will surely work..
Ok tried the reset button trick also, pressing it and holding before connecting the usb, and pressing after connecting usb, also tried the same with power button, but it always boots in android. And as usual the device keeps appearing as 'MID' in devie manager...
still stuck
Quick update
Ok quick update, I finally found the way to get it recognized differently (good or bad)
For Aoson M19, Hold the 'Home' key on tablet and then connect the usb cable to PC. However, it still refuses to install the drivers for the device..
See attached picture, still working on it...

[Q] Device "soft bricked" - Help needed!

Hi guys, I was trying to flash a custom ROM for the first time onto my ASUS ME301T, as I was fairly sure ASUS was not going to update these devices anymore.
Anyway, now the device will not start. It will power on, and the first of the two ASUS start-up screens will appear (the non animated/static one). In the top corner, it reads "The Device is Unlocked" as was required when attempting to flash the 4.4.4 ROM. Beyond this, nothing happens. If I attempt to power down the device it simply reboots itself shortly after. The only way to turn it off is to insert a paperclip into the physical reset hole, or to let the device run out of battery.
Now before you tell me to go into recovery by holding power and volume down... I've tried that hundreds of times.. As well as power+vol up, although I don't know what that does. I cannot access recovery mode, as far as I know anyway. Further, the device is not detected by either of my computers (desktop or laptop, windows and mac) so I can't attempt to flash it through USB (unless there is a way to do this?).
The device does not heat up, the screen simply stays on the ASUS static logo. It doesn't power off unless I hold the button, and it quickly restarts. To provide context as to what I did to cause this issue.. It was working fine on its factory ROM, no issues, and I attempted to do another system reset to fix an issue I was having with TWRP. However, I accidentally selected the middle open, not RCK, not reset, but something like "boot into Linux" or something, I can't exactly remember. Anyway, like an idiot I freaked and powered off the device.. My guess is that this is was caused the issue?
Anyway, making this post here as this is my first time looking into/attempting to flash a device. Would appreciate some expert help before I use my tablet to prop up the books on my bookcase
Help me try to unbrick my tablet! (I'm not too hopeful though..)
Cheers

[Q] Nabi 2 - wake up / turn on problems

Hello everybody,
I bought the Nabi 2, as refurbished, for my little child and from the beginning I am having problems to turn it on or wake it up from sleep. It is not rooted, has everything stock and I have also applied all available official updates (OTA).
The problem is to turn it on, both from sleep or from powered down state. For example, being in sleep mode (display off) for a few hours, to wake it up I have first to press the power button for about 10 seconds, than release it and press again until... the start up Logo appears, as it was completely shut down! Maybe through pushing the power button first time I turn it off unintentional, so the second time it has to power up and load the OS? But just pushing the power button shortly will not wake it up at all from sleep mode... Is this a known problem and is there a solution for it?
Thanks in advance for each advice!

The only semi known issue I have seen is when you put the tablet to sleep and it's charging. In some instances the tablet will lock up at some point after going to sleep. When you try to wake in up via power button it is locked up. When you hold the power button for 10sec you are hard powering it off and then it reboots. If yours wasn't charging then I haven't read much about anyone having a similar problem.

Thanks for your reply, aicjofs.
In my case it happens always, no matter if charging or not... and it's annoying.
Would rooting and installing a custom ROM solve the problem? If yes, is there a custom ROM dedicated to kids, similar with the stock one?

Ignore this guy. I have a friend with the same power on issue with her Nabi 2, and I'm interested to read the solution here.
...no other hints concerning my problem ?
Please, if somebody has an idea, just reply here.

I'm still struggling with the random problems on my Nabi...
Is it possible to check the integrity and/or health of internal memory, find and mark bad blocks, etc. using a computer (Windows or Linux) connected through USB? If yes, how? Do I need to flash TWRP or something else on the Nabi before?
Thanks in advance for your help.

The latest TWRP should have a section under the wipe menu where you can repair the file system which is probably easiest, although you need to be careful what you are doing in there as it is called the "wipe" tab for a reason. Should be able to go to wipe menu, select data partition checkbox, select change or repair filesystem(don't swipe to wipe, click the words check/repair etc) and select check in the next screen.
To do a filesystem check the partition can not be mounted so you do it from recovery not in Android. Since stock recovery you can't use ADB you pretty much need TWRP one way or another.
If you don't want to use the graphical interface in TWRP you can do it over USB with ADB and use e2fsck on the partitions after unmounting them, but it's going to be doing the same thing you will just see a more verbose version if you do it over adb.
Thanks a lot, aicjofs.
I will try to root and install first TWRP, as my Nabi is still untouched.
One thing I remarked: at the moment, when I go in the (stock) recovery and want to do a "Wipe data/factory reset", 2 lines are displayed before "-- Wipping data...": "E: missing bitmap stage_empty (Code -l)" and "E:missing bitmap stage_fill (Code -l)". After that, the wiping process seems to run normal, as I get the message "Data wipe complete." at the end.
Do you know what that lines are meaning? Could those lines help to debug the main problem ?
Update: NO WAY to get TWRP on my Nabi, regardless how hard I try...
NabiLab 2015 recognize the Nabi without problems, but as soon as I select "Recovery installer", Nabi should reboot-bootloader (I suppose), but hangs at Nabi Logo (the small icon in the middel of screen) forever. Also in Control Panel, the device is shown as ""Fastboot" with the error symbol and the indication that the driver should be installed again (but of course, when I try to do it, Windows tells me that the newest drivers for that device are already installed).
I also tried with using directly adb in a cmd window, with the same result, as soon as I type "adb reboot-bootloader" and press enter.
I am really out of ideas...

The hang with Nabi logo is because the fastboot driver is somehow broke. You will likely have to install it manually. Which driver are you using?
I gave most of the driver options here http://forum.xda-developers.com/nabi-2/general/nabi-information-t3229119

You were right! I've installed the "nacked" driver on a fresh windows 7 and now I have TWRP on my Nabi 2!!! Thanks a lot!!!
Now is there a way to get rid of the freezing problem when I attach the charger while Nabi is on? Right now, if I attach the charger this way, Nabi 2 will freeze completely and only a reboot can get the normal functionality back!?!
Charging the Nabi in "off" state works however...

I dont have Nabi2's anymore but both my kids tablets did the same thing. I never really found a solution. I did buy a cable from Nabi store that has the orange braid covering. It seemed to make a difference, but it still happened from time to time.
Happy New Year!
As I mentioned, I was finally able to install TWRP and did all wiping, cleaning, repairing tasks that were available
After that I flashed the "Nabixus 0.1beta for Nabi 2" ROM which worked very nice.
But... I still have the same problems starting up the Nabi!
When I finally succeed to start it (after many trials), it works well, but if I let it go in standby and wait more that a few minutes, I am not able to wake it up again and I have to do a restart (about 10 sec. hold the Power button down).
What I`m not getting at all: is this a software or a hardware problem? Can my Nabi 2 be repaired after all, or I just have to scrap it?
The last thing I could still think to try would be to repair the partition table through TWRP / Adb / Adb shell. Should I try it? Where can I get a good partition table for my NV7A and, after having it, which commands are required?
... aicjofs, please... help

You can't repair the partition table from adb/TWRP. It's read only. You could through nvflash but I don't think the partition table could possibly cause the issue. I think you are meaning fix super blocks and inodes of the filesystem? Even that is a stretch if it's happening how you describe it but with a try. Did you try repair filesystem like we talked about earlier? If not backup all the data and try a wipe data. That will make sure to blow away and reformat the data partition.
It could be hardware. I know for sure the charging system causes it when plugged in but not about the first boot stuff or when it's not charging.
Thank you aicjofs for your answer,
yes, I did attempt to repair the system, data, cache and it was successfully. I did it several times. I also wiped everything a few times and installed the Nabixus ROM afterwards. Nothing helped. It's like the operating system needs to "get warm" somehow, because I have to try to power on the system many times, until I get it work... but after that, if the Nabi goes in standby, I have to start the whole thing over
How can I check for damaged blocks, etc.? If I can do it and find some, could they be marked as "bad" and isolated? Would it make sense?

Stuck In Boot Loop - Boot Failure on LG Page at Start Up

I have gone through other forum entries that were similar and did not see anything exactly the same. Came back to G3 after 6 months since I had the common issue of screen freeze/flicker and fading out. I did paper trick where folded paper goes over camera port on motherboard to get it at least temporarily functional. That did the trick as far as screen working for now.
My major problem began when I tried utilizing this technique I found in forum in hope of a more permanent solution:
I spent days of googling and there are only temporary solutions for this problem.
After testing my phone for 2 days in different conditions I realised that the screen is going crazy when the light is changing too much.
If you do a sensor calibration everything will go back to normal:
-enter in Hidden Menu (model dependent)
-select Device Test
-select MT
-OK to restart the device
-OK and do not touch the screen for few seconds
-go to Individual Items+Power (you must push power button when you select this item)
-select Sensor Test and take care to not block the proximity sensor when you make the selection
I got as far as MT in device test and phone restarted. However, it won't get past the first LG screen. It hangs there for a few seconds and the words "Boot Failure" appear. Is there anything I can do to get out of this boot loop. I tried hard reset with volume down and power and get same result. I also tried hooking into PC using volume up for download mode and get nowhere with that either. Is there anything else I can try to fix this problem?
I greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide. I did notice the last resort debrick method by R-T-B but it seems a little complicated for me and I was hoping there might be an easier solution.
When you tried to put the phone in download mode, did you use the original cable, and use it with a USB 2.0 port that comes directly off of your PC's motherboard, not USB 3.x and boy through a USB hub?
If so, what happened exactly?
Yes, I used original cable and made sure it was USB 2.0 port. I hold volume up button and plug other end of USB cable into phone and it goes right to the black screen with just LG logo and Life's Good. Directly under the logo in white font is Boot Failure. I can't seem to get past it. Phone will shut down by itself and automatically turn back on going to same boot failure page.
One thing I forgot to mention in original post. I had not used phone in a few months and forgot I had taken SD card out. So when I did the MT in device test SD card was not there. Also, phone is rooted. I had a Jasmine ROM 9.0 or 9.1 (35B). I have put back SD card into phone which I am not sure matters or not but get same result.
SD card shouldn't matter for anything.
What does it say in Windows' Device Manager in the ports section when you attempt to put it into Download mode? LGE... or QHSUSB_BULK 9008 mode?
It shows LGE Mobile USB Serial Port. When I enable show hidden devices it shows 2 LGE items under Ports. One has COM4 and the other COM41.
Also, USB 2.0 connection to PC is directly to port on back of PC. Not connected through hub or anything. Also, although I don't know if it matters but I had TWRP flashed as well.
Its frustrating that I can't get phone to do anything but reboot back to LG screen. I don't understand why just going into Hidden Menu got phone stuck in never ending boot loop. I could understand if I flashed something wrong but I didn't do anything like that. At this point I don't care about any files or anything on phone, just want to get it in working condition.
There are a lot of dangerous things in the hidden menu, that's why it's hidden.
If you continue to not be able to get it into Download mode, look at the thread in the General section for forcing it into QHSUSB BULK 9008 mode, and then there are different recovery instructions that still needs the 10B TOT.
Or @R-T-B might be able to fix it for you. I don't know what the deal is with two LGE devices showing, bit I've never taken any steps to show hidden devices.
Won't hurt to try flashing the 10B TOT even though there phone doesn't look like it's in Download mode. I don't know if the existing hidden port 41 LGE device would be sufficient or if you should change to port 5 one to 41. Normally you have to change the port 5 one, but both are worth a try.
Of course, it the phone constantly reboots too quickly to try flashing, then ignore that advice.
Sounds stupid I know but try anything like leaving the SIM card and Micro SD card out?
FYI apparently it seems normal that enabling hidden devices in Device Manager would show the Port 41 LGE entry. I flashed the 10B TOT to my wife's phone and after it booted and I enabled hidden devices, I could see the "new" valid entry on Port 5 and the old hidden entry on Port 41, so it's no matter, and if you choose to change the Port 5 one to Port 41, just proceed even though it warns you there's another device on that Port. A reboot of your PC might fix it too.

Did you ever get this sorted out? My g3 same thing. Hidden menu, device test, and then reboot but stuck at lg logo screen. I’m unable to bring up mini os for the hidden menu to escape the device test action. It just stays on with the lg logo on the screen.
Thanks for helping.
