I am getting very slow speeds downloading with utorrent. I'm on home WiFi and have speeds of 20+Mbps with the speed test app. But I'm getting speeds that are crawling with utorrent

Try ttorrent best torrent app on android imo

Too many variables. I use the version before the ads and brrips generally take 10-15 minutes for 800mb educational videos.

Do you know how torrents work? The maximum speed is determined by the upload speed of all the users seeding that particular file, then take into account how many people are also downloading it. You can have a maximum download speed of say 5KBps for a rare file, or 10MBps for something popular with a lot of seeders.

I have tried searching but I can't find anything on the 3G speeds for the optimus one, other than the manufacturer thing, which is 7.2MB/s
I'm getting ~1200KBPS (1.2mb/s) with a 900 ping to a server right beside me, is this normal? I have the 3G tweak installed
Yeah it's normal.I get anywhere from 300kbps to 3mbps depending on location and no of people connected.

Do you have any tweaks?
Try removing 3g tweak. I normally get 2.5 to 3.5mbps, with the server about 50m away.

DO NOT USE THE SPEEDTEST APP!! I was going crazy trying to figure out why I kept getting the same speeds as my Iphone 4 no matter the location or signal strength. Turns out that when I went directly to the speakeasy speedtest from the browser I got 11.51Mbps down and 1.06Mbps up!
(will upload pic of my results when i get more than 8 posts )
My guess is that the phone throttles the speeds for non intensive internet apps and it accidentally throttles speedtest. Nevertheless the only thing that was bugging me about this phone is fixed!
Yep you're right just got 10.78 down and 1.28 up

Thanks!

i'm guessing this assumes that you live in one of the cities that the speakeasy browser test lets you select from...
i live in st. louis, so the closest city i could select was chicago - same results as the app for me.
Still getting 2.8-3.0/1 going this route. Exact same as the app for me.

I know I could feel better download speeds from actually using this device compared to kg ip4 and this just confirmed it. Thank you for the heads up.

Edit- oops, didn't notice it was the speakeasy speedtest.

Same here. Chicago was actually slower for me than the speedtest app. I always get the best results from overland park,KS.

Speed test app gave me 2.5 down about 0.8 up.
Ran a test on speakeasy as well as sprints speed test site and got
7.65 down 1.25 up on both

Those not getting the faster speeds try to pick a different server. I sometimes get better speeds from the san francisco server than the local LA server. Also, from home, I get 2-3 bars and never get over 3.5 Mbps so keep in mind that the tower youre connected to might not be upgraded for faux 4g or your signal might be weak.
When I run Speedtest on my Verizon 4G Xoom, it's showing 25-30 down.

When I run Speedtest on my gaming PC with Comcast Extreme I get 85GB down. What's your point?
Im on fiber here Im guessing I shouldnt say what Im getting
on H+ on att here in NYC, Jercity city and when taking Amtrak to Wilmington De, I am constantly getting 287k DOWN and 345k UP.. sucks!!!!!!!!!!
But, much better than my iphone on 3G.
Speedtest app gave me speeds of 2-3.5mb down and 1-1.3 up. Speakeasy speed test site now gives me 8.89mb down and 1.09 up. Very nice!
Using speakeasy, I got much better results. When the bandwidth is there, I'm able to get 7Mbps down, where as with the speed test app, I was having a hard time getting over 3Mbps.

I think it's Speakeasy or something. I get 11.5mbps download, and 3.5mbps upload on 4G from Speakeasy, but from Speedtest I get around 3.5mbps download, and 1.5mbps upload.
From my computer on wifi, using speedtest.net I get around 7mbps download, and around 4mbps upload. But using Speakeasy, it jumps to 11.5mbps download and 3.75mbps upload.
So, I think it's just that Speakeasy somehow boosts it up?
All I'm saying is that it's not a problem throttling the bandwidth of SpeedTest.
EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot to turn Wi-Fi off on my phone . Sorry, noob error. Using Speakeasy I get 1Mbps download, and .9Mbps upload...
Getting 3mbps on GS2 while my girlfriend's Atrix 2 gets 6mbps. Tried speedtest app, speak easy, Sprint's network test. Wtf? Maybe I got the wrong phone.
I am using ttorrent right now and when im downloading a file, my download speed goes really high, reaches a max speed and drops to zero then shoots right back up. The thing is this happens on my a500 too. I dont know if there is a setting im missing.
yeah ttorrent suck! always get slow speeds ( fluctuates badly )
try Adownloader, i get dl speeds up to 800kb/s
set upload limit to 25/45 or higher depending on your upload speed and you will find better dl result. give it a try and gluck.
I get the same behaviour with adownloader.
Sounds like throttling boys. Which IP do you have?

Have you tried ttorrent pro? I known the lite version is limited on speed. I love ttorrent pro, switched from adownloader. How fast is your internet? If you allow too high upload it will affect download. Also do you torrent to your microsd? I noticed if I use my internal drive my speeds are much lower. I use a class 10 32gb Samsung works great. I get between 1.5-3.8MB/s

Same thing happens to me when I use ADM (Advanced Download Manager) which isn't even a torrent downloader, but it uses multiple connections to download files in parts.
My guess is that mobile radios cant handle multiple incoming/outgoing connections like a PC can.
Believe it or not, Xbox Live does not use a lot of data over our 4G LTE connections.
About 10 games of MW3, some youtube videos, and a few network tests over my 4G on the Xbox only got me 262MB download and 16MB upload.
Anyway, the wifi in my house works real well, and I don't need my LTE for my XBL but LTE is even better than my wifi so I'm thinking I'd see some performance improvement for matchmaking.
However, the NAT is always moderate and I do suffer from higher than average ping,
I know the fixes for routers, etc, but is there a similar option to open ports and such on the wifi tether app to open my NAT?
Thanks.
Been using mobile hotspot for ps3 cod for a while now. No problems at all, other than the high pings and moderate . So would like to know too.
Very interested in finding a answer for this as well. If anyone wants to play mw3 my gamertag is xturbom3x

I luck out sometimes but I've never seen lower than 70 ping on LTE where I live.
Love my 25 ping at home though.

i haven't tried with xbl as both of my 360's are rr'd. i have used it on my gaming netbook however and find it works rather well most of the time.
The only thing I've seen as a solution is here, post 8. It uses barnacle, which I don't even know if that works with the Rezound.

If I had better service at my house I would use LTE, my wifi at home just comes and goes as it pleases.
But, my PS3 does pretty good with my hone wifi anyway. I even end up being host on mw3 sometimes.

I used to see low pings on lte, less than 80 all the time but in the last 6 months, its consistently low 100's here in san antonio.
Considering my home wifi is 5-15ms ping, I'll stick to that. (TWC Wideband)
What app are you all using to tether?
The Wifi Tether app that's included in most ROMs now.
I can't get it to work. Done everything that Scott said and it just doesn't work. But Bluetooth works.
I like to use my phone for gaming tethering. I can play minecraft and tekkit flawlessly. That is not much to say though. I can play leaduebof legends with minimal lag. I can play starcraft 2 with minimal lag. I can play garrys mod with little lag but some lag spikes and lastly I can play bf3 with medium lag. Low. Lag is 40 ping. Medium lag is 80-120. Overall I think that the rezound is more than powerful enough to play most online games.

I use the wifi tethering app.
Use device as gnexus cdma/lte.
Routing fix.
Encryption.
Driver reload.
Very reliable but turns phone into a microwave.

I know how the wifi tether app works, most of us do, we're looking for a way to tether to XbL without a moderate or strict NAT, basically opening ports.

Did anybody try my link to a solution via Barnacle I posted earlier in the thread? Worth a shot...

I've done all that but my computer just keeps asking me for the password, and I know I am putting in the right one.
I have a d/l speed of about 20mbs on my sgs3 bit when I try and use bit torrent or utorrent to download it get next to nothing. I get decent connection on wifi but live in a village and only get 2mbs. Do you think my provider (ee uk) are limiting it? Or is there a way of making it faster that bit just can't see?
Thanks

not sure if 100% accurate, but torrents should require more processing power which is what limits your data transfer. for example i usually get like 6-8MB/s on my laptop but if i set up my router as a download box (800MHz proc) i get max 1MB and often the router craches die to its inability to process the large volume of data fast enough. I think the same thing happens with your device also.
