[Q] Galaxy S2 D710 by Virgin - Motherboard question - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a power button/sleep button problem and brought it to a professional chain cell phone repair shop. They tried to repair it by soldering on a new button but it got too close to the power supply and in other words they messed it up. They took responsibility and ordered a new motherboard. Since I have Virgin Mobile do they have to order a virgin mobile motherboard or does it matter?
In other words is the service incorporated in the motherboard or not? (since its not using a sim chip)
If the service is on the motherboard, what steps should I take to port the same number, phone info, etc. on it?

HELP: Board 2 Board Connector

Hi,
I have a Touch Pro CDMA. Recently my phone has developed a weird issue. The touch screen and the keys on the front face would just go blank/dead. If I removed the battery and powered the phone again. The vibration at the start would indicate that the phone has started and also the boot-up sounds, etc would be played.
If I left the phone in OFF mode for sometime, it would start working. I thought it is a software issue and performed a HARD Reset and then re-loaded the stock Sprint ROM. Previously also I was using the stock Sprint ROM. But this Hard Reset+Flashing Stock ROM did not help and the problem re-occurred.
After this I took the phone to the local HTC support team here in India as I suspected that it was a probably a connector coming loose somehow. They opened up the phone reconnected the Board to Board connector and it worked for a few hours. But then the same issue showed up again. HTC support group says that there 'could' be a fault with the Board to Board connector and a replacement might help in trouble shooting to figure out if there is issue with the B2B connector or not. Now the additional problem is that HTC Support India only supports phone sold in India . And I'm using at Touch Pro in the US.
It would be next to impossible for me to have the phone sent to the US to HTC support and then somehow get it back here in India. The [HTC Service & Repair FAQ clearly says that they do not sell parts separately.
Now I am in a fix on how to fix up my phone ASAP.
Any Inputs people?

Mobile phone repair shop.
It is illegal to re-write IMEI's unless you are a mobile phone repair centre. Ergo discussion of such is disallowed on XDA.
Obviously, your request with a new motherboard is genuine, so best advice is to go to a mobiole phone repair shop and get them to write it.

IMEI Fix due to new motherboard?

Hi guys !
A few weeks ago, I accidentally deadbricked my Galaxy Note I717 (known in Singapore as the Note 1 LTE/N7005) , so I sent it to a repair shop to get the whole motherboard replaced. I just got it back yesterday, and I could not get a stable signal at all , only LTE and GSM on rare occasions for a few minutes. I checked the IMEI and found out that the software's IMEI did not match the one printed on the back of the phone.
Any ideas how can I get this issue fixed WITHOUT buying a 3rd party SDT Box or such items?
Thanks !
From what I know, replacing the motherboard is like getting a different phone. So, you may need to contact your service provider and tell them that you repaired your phone. See if they can update your account to make your service work on the phone.

[Q] Hardbricked Galaxy S2 USB jig not working.

Android GURU's, newbie here.. first post. please help. I have hard bricked my galaxy s2 while flashing a new ROM, I sent in a wrong pit file for my phone and this hardbricked my phone completely. Tried USB jig also, no luck. When I charge phone, all it does, is it gets heated near the camera part and nothing, no download mode, nothing , nada. Have been reading about JTAG option, but i am not having any leads on that who can do that in Bangalore, India. If someone has any leads or any other solution please help me. Would like to exhaust every option before taking it to Samsung and pay big bucks (out of warranty) to change MOBO. Any leads will be highly appreciated. Thanks for your time reading my post and trying to help.
Motherboard replacement. JTAG very unlikely to work, Google search/contact local mobile repair shops & ask if they do JTAG's. Also, you don't necessarily have to pay a service centre a lot of money to put a new motherboard in. You can source a 2nd hand one from a 'donor' phone (say a phone with a broken screen that is otherwise OK), this will be much cheaper than paying a service centre to put a new one in, even if you're not confident enough to DIY & pay a local mobile repair shop to actually swap the new board in after you source it.
Why you you flashed a pit file ... why?
No 1 rule don't flash a pit file until no other solution works and you are sure that you have right driver odin pit phone
Maybe a jtag works but its better a mobo replace

S2 will not power on

A couple of weeks ago my S2 keep restarting itself and then getting stuck while booting. After doing that a few times, it went totally dead and will no longer power on. I have tried a different battery but it didn't work either.
Any advice on how I could go about fixing this. The device was rooted and was running a custom rom for over a year without any problems.
Give us more info!!"
What rom?
What kernel?
Replace motherboard - service centre = new board (expensive option), or source 2nd hand board yourself online & pay local mobile repair shop to swap (not service centre; cheaper option), or new phone.
the only way is go to your nearest service center and get the phone repaired.
