Apple iOS platform default email app will recognize address strings within the text body of an email and make the address string clickable. Options are then given to start Navigation via Apple maps
Trying to re-create that ability on Android. The android gmail app does not seem to auto recognize street address strings.
Any way to turn this on or is there another email app anyone is aware of that has this functionality.
Thanks,

Hi
With My Position it is possible to se actual GPS information via the phones built in GPS and send the position to others via sms or email.
When sending the position via sms or email it is possible to enter a telephone number or email address. It is also possible to select a contact from the contact list.
Sending the position is possible in three diffirent ways.
1) As coordinates which can be inserted directly in Google Earth or Google Maps.
2) As a link to Google Static Maps. When the receiver opens the link the phones default web browser connects to the internet and shows the position on a map in 400x400 pixel resolution.
3) As a link to Google Maps. This option is mostly suitable when sending the position via email.
It is also possible to see ones own position on a map where Google Static Map is being used. The phones default web browser will open and connect to the internet and shows the position on a map in 400x400 pixel resolution.
This is a very good function when you are in a big city with many streets.
There is also a sos function which sends the position and a message of help. Again it is possible to send via sms or email.
The application is developed on a HTC Touch Diamond 2 with Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro. Maybe the aplication can be used on other WM 6.1 phones but that have not been tested.
The application requires .NET Compact Framework 3.5 which can be found here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2ZGV1DNJ (to HTC TD2).
When the application is installed it can be found in Start --> All --> My Position by using TouchFLO.
Everyone is welcome to express theirs opinion about the program, cons, pluses etc.
Last I want to tell that installation is ones own responsibility.

A couple of problems
This app is so close to what I want but it has a few problems.
When selecting a contact to send to, it adds a right paren ")" to the email address or phone number. It also includes this person's name when sending an SMS message. This causes the email to bounce and the phone number to be invalid for an SMS message.
When sending a message with a Google Maps link it would be nice to be able to select which language to use for Google Maps. I would like the english version.
Does anyone know of another app with similar functionality?
3/7 update, I found this app, GPSLocation and am using it instead.
Hello!
Someone knows how can i set my actual gps position to any contact?
example:
im in your house, and i want to set de adress to your contact im my phone. but does not edit the contact position and write by hand, any applications that take the current position and set as your home address.
thanks
depends on what gps software you are using
if any of your contacts has an address on the contacts list you can open it on google maps and set the navigation path but then I'm not sure exactly what you mean or want to do.
i want to know if have a software that defines my current position as the address of a contact of mine. i want to put my current position to a contact of the list. for when I need, open the contact's address in Google Maps. could understand? Thank you for your attention
Hi everyone. I've had a look around and couldnt find the answer to my question.
Basically I have a website and I use Google to provide a custom email address. For example if my website was XDA then my email address would be lazee_wolf@xda.com
I've tried and failed to add my email address to the email app on Android. My previous two phones were iPhones and they had no problem with the email address, they added the custom email address easily.
It seems weird to me that Apple's iOS accepts Google's custom email addresses as standard but Google' Android doesnt seem to. Could anyone help me set this up? I'm sure I'm not the only one!
I realize that this has been an 'issue' for a while now, but I would like to know if there are any new ways secure and use stock email client with Exchange ActiveSync and not have credentials stored in clear text on the device. The same goes for IMAP and POP accounts using the app.
Yes, this is really only an issue on rooted devices, Google's official answer is to enable Device Encryption and that there are other email clients out there that handle credentials better. I personally switched to Touchdown, but would rather use the stock client.
I am trying to come up with a MDM solution for my company and really don't want to have to block devices if I don't have to. But as it stands my only options are have the user buy a 3rd party email client, force encryption and/or block rooted / jailbroken devices or use Citrix and OWA. I've spent a couple days researching this and haven't come up with anything promising that puts a smile on my face.
Any other Exchange Admins out there? How have you dealt with this?
For those who were not aware of your network username, password and domain being stored in clear text. Using Sql Lite open the Email app, Open EmailProvider.db and select HostAuth. Within you will find your connection info staring back at you, clear as day.

When entering an email address in a field that Samsung Keyboard detects as an email textbox, once you've entered the '[email protected]' you're given 3 autocomplete choices for gmail.com, outlook.com, and yahoo.com. How could I modify that list to substitute my own domain?
PS: I know you can edit the user autocomplete dictionary, which I've done to have '@Shortcut' give my desired domain, but to get that to work, it must be preceded by a space - ie 'username @Shortcut' which then has to be edited to remove the space once autocompleted - which is annoying.
So any thoughts?
