Looking to run the ota, but apparently my backup of 4.3 has been deleted and I switched kernels. Any chance anybody still has the stock boot.img handy?? Would be much appreciated.

Here's the link to the factory images from Google: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Extract with 7zip if you're using Windows. 'Course *nix has its own way to extract these
You should find the boot.img file inside the tar archive.

If you don't have a PC handy just remove all the .odex files in your rom and reboot to recovery.
That's not DeOdexing... The odex files have information needed. So they have to be properly merged with the apk files.

He is aiming at applying a mod yes?
I know all the .odex files will regenerate upon boot. I was only suggesting an alternative possible method instead of having to use a PC on Linux to deodex and then flash the system again in order to make the classes.dex for each app.
The idea is that he gets rid of the app cache and other minor stuff in .odex to be regenerated to prevent any errors (hence classes.dex is more dynamic) and then flash the mod and upon boot .odex files would regenerate to the newly modified apks.
This is a method that in theory should work so in practice why can't we try aswell?
Most apks should still have a classes.dex even if ROM is ODEX (unless it was just my fate before to happen multiple times)

Yes, cygwin and dsixda. Its easy to set up.
Of course if he really wants a deodexed solution, my recommendation would be to flash an existing one.

You would need to download the full cygwin libraries (a couple of gigabytes) though because it will give the error for 'clear' command.
And the servers for it even on my 40mb/s downstream are only capable of downloading them in at least two hours.
For me it would be quicker to actually install Ubuntu lol. 5 Min download of not far over 700mb and a 30 min install period with updates.

Well it happened to me before I went on vacation exactly a month ago because I couldn't bother to keep booting into another OS just to change one thing or another. I had to download a couple of gigabytes of full cygwin package which made it work but then just removed it as it took too much space.

So I had never really used TWRP before today and inadvertently wiped my internal storage, so I have no OS installed on the phone. I can't seem to find a stock TAR to flash in ODIN. Please tell me there is one...
Download stock rooted and put it on sd card and flash in twrp

Yeah that's what I ended up doing. Had to transfer file to external SD card with a separate device and then used that to flash in twrp. So there's no full stock ODIN yet?

I think there is ...I remember seeing that someone found the tar on Samsung mobile or whatever the site is but the older mi3 etc won't work when you have upgraded to mj4 the new has a bootloader that won't allow a downgrade

This happened to me and I couldn't access any files on my SD card. The phone wouldn't read it. I had to ODIN with mj4 .tar to get everything back as it was.

The first thing I tried was ODIN but for some reason I couldn't drop the TAR file in it, like it wasn't reading it as a tar file. Would have been much easier that way haha

AFAIK the stock ROM differs from AOSP basically on two counts.
Changes to make it dual SIM compatible
Moto apps like Migrate,Alert,etc
I've attached the boot.img from the latest firmware(4.4.4) of XT1022. Hope it helps.

If you want to update to 5.0.1 just flash the radio, system, and boot images from the 5.0.1 factory image in fastboot. It will not wipe your device

Google nexus factory image. Download the file, it's a .tgz file. Extract it using 7-zip. Inside is a zip file, extract that too. You'll find the radio in the first file you extract and the system and boot images in the zip you extract. Flash those with fastboot

I have a Micromax Spark 4g Prime (q452) with MT6737 chipset... I have tried many methods of porting any custom recovery for my phone (auto-port and manual both) but it always ends in a bootloop when I flash the ported recovery using adb. I then have to reflash the official recovery using sp flashtool.:crying:

Ok I unpacked the img using another tool from here, and I got the zImage file. You mean that I should copy the zImage file from the stock unpacked recovery to your unpacked recovery, right?
