Best Apps and Games for Quattro: Reviews & Shares - Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro

Guys I think we all should help each other by sharing the best apps and games you've been using yourself and believe that will help other Quattro owner to enjoy the device to the fullest. Please do share them along with the benefits/fun you got using it.
Let me start a few from my end.
1. Smart Screen ON: This app has helped me alot to turn the backlight on without pressing the home button making it safer from early wear and tear. This is surely help you guys as well. :good:
2. Air-Call Accept: It a great app with very limited features, Turn it on. And when there a is a call swipe your hand over the phone or accept or reject the call or you may straight away put the phone close to your ears to answer the phone. (The best thing of it I like). Try it and you'll love it. :victory:
3. Lux Lite - Auto Brightness App: Again one of my favourite apps. You can select camera as an sensor for detecting light and it will auto adjust the screen brightness. Love the way it works. Read complete HOW TO use the app and you'll understand it more.
4. Photo Editor by Aviary: Quick and precise phone editor I've ever used. I use many others too but believe me this is real quick for our phone and have many options to use for editing photos. You can also add memes to the images .Try it.
5. Clean Master (Cleaner) - FREE: Again this is a great app that helps you maintain your phone better and make you stop complaining about its speed and lags and all. It is necessary to clean up the unnecessary cache files to make the phone work smoother. This app serves the purpose. :highfive:
Now, You cannot miss an app that everyone wants it first when they buy a phone. (Best Battery Saver)
According to me that app is Du Battery Saver free.
6. DU Battery Saver & Widgets: Haven't tried many other battery saver apps, but I will share the one that I'm very comfortable with and hope when you use, you'll be at ease too. This app does the work that is expected from it. The various Modes help alot in setting up the battery accordingly. There is not regret in using it since I bought my phone in early May 2013 just few days after its launch.
I hope these apps will help you maintain your phone better. Some of you might already be using it, if yes, please don't think the post is boring. I've tried to help the others who don't know about these apps.:good:
Thanks and Cheers to all happy and to be happy owners of this phone (Galaxy Grand Quattro).

Use the Swipe Home Button App- with that you can customise the swipe to make it work like the home button, as a result you do not have to long press the Home button to view running apps...hence this app takes a lot of load off the physical home button

Nice app ! ! !

Thanks.
A Very decent app it is for all of us. :good:
I'm already using the gesture controls of Nova Prime Launcher and this started conflicting a bit with previous gesture controls.
But this is really a great app with multiple gestures performing various frequently using tasks. Keep it up. :victory:

why dont u try the same by using gravity box then using any app..,also gravity box has many tweaking as i moded the long press of the menu button to load previous app which gives some fun of multi window also the long press of the back button has the same function as that of long press of the home button.....

I'm using Lux and it works very well using front camera! Most auto-brightness apps don't have this feature (they require light sensor instead). But I didn't get how SMART SCREEN ON works...

Steps to make Smart screen on work.

How to:
Sorry not able to upload images. I forgot usb cable somewhere.... :silly:
Step 1. Install and tap on the icon and click on BASIC. Tick Enable Smart Screen ON (SSON), Start on boot and Hide icon (if you want).
Step 2. Tap on wave hand mode. Tap set automatic value, now wave your hand over the device the way you want the lights to go ON. Means wave hand once and tap I like these values, if you want the lights to turn on in single wave. Or wave twice and select I like these Values
And ofcourse turn that feature ON.
Step 3. Only if you need. Tap and swipe On. This does the same thing as a hand wave does, but instead of hand wave you tap once on the sensor or swipe your finger across it.
Step 4. Now tap Save and restart app. And you are ready to go. :fingers-crossed:
When done. Screen off your phone and wave hand over the phone. And the backlight will turn on, so that you can atleast see the any notifications you received.
Note: SSON sometimes don't work because it supports devices without screen lock better than devices with screen lock turned ON. This is very rare when it doesn't work. Maybe once in every 15 or 20 times. Pretty decent, Isn't it?
Cheers :good:

Wow! It's so cool! Thanks for tutorial! Works perfectly.

Hi i want to share what apps i use in my GT-I8552. ill be very brief and simple.
1. Tasker - i use this app for:
~Automatically changing my wallpaper. (i have a parameter to save battery).
~Sound and light profile. (i use this to change modes, Day/Night mode).
~Removing my PIN LOCK when i am home.
~Automatically put my phone in Power Saving Mode
~Automatically Turn On my GPS for Specific Apps
~Automatically Turn Off my GPS/WIFI/Bluetooth after sometime of inactivity (or even i turn it on, it will check if i am using this functions or not)
~Automatically Turn On Screen Rotate for specific apps (buggy or i just dont really like my screen to rotate).
Note: i used an extension for some settings the app named -Secure Setting-
2. Foldersync - i love this app even though it can be used with tasker but the app alone is awesome! i use this to sync my music/pictures/video to different cloud storage. but in music i use 2way function because i am downloading music in my pc and i just want my phone to sync wirelessly.
3. Camera Zoom FX <- Awesome for taking pictures (if you can suggest better app why not? )
4. Adaway
5. Titanium Backup

Thanks will be appreciated ! ! !

[APP][UPDATED Updated 26/01/2010] PLToggle - Toggle screen rotation

I made this program in answer to a request in the HD2 General forum, but thought I should post it here.
It's a small app that toggles the display orientation back and forth to the rotation of your choice, without the need for the g-sensor.
The default installation includes the settings screen (available from your start menu), and the application itself, which is available via a long-hold of the call button. When the application is first installed, it defaults to standard landscape (the left of the phone being the bottom), but this can be changed via the settings screen.
BIG THANKS!! to vonski and Eldorado9 for their patience and testing. Thanks guys
Have fun
Note:
Manila doesn't like being forced into landscape, so you can't use this app for that - sorry. It works upside-down, just not sideways. (I've got a HD2 with Sense/Manila 2.5)
Also, I've only tested this on a WVGA device and would like to know how it works on other resolution devices, so please feel free to private message me with any feedback regarding this.
Change details (26/01/2010)
Removed the long_send link that was originally being installed in the Windows folder.
For some reason, when you press the call button to answer a call, it executes the long_send link, despite only being a quick send.
This only happens when there's an incoming call. I've removed this link from the installer, but you still execute the toggle with a long-hold of the call button.
NOTE: The installer will remove the long_send link from your windows folder.
Change details (13/01/2010)
Added the settings screen so there's now only 1 installer, instead of 3.
If you do have the previous version, you can simply delete it from the windows folder, or just leave it and install this one.
It will override the existing version's functionality, despite being able to install it on your storage card now.
Great Job!
John,
Great job and thanks for this. First thing that comes to mind is why did you not combine these into one programme so one can have the option to go left, right or upside down without having to install 3 separate apps?
If its not difficult to do and you can spare the time to do it then I would be very interested in a single combined app that I could run off my quicklinks.
I'm subscribing to this thread to watch developments.
Thanks again.

It actually is 1 program, but the shortcut (long_send) is different in each zip file, and that tells the app which direction to rotate the display.
This started because someone asked for an app that would put their display in landscape and then back again, with a long-hold on the call button. After I'd done that for them, someone else asked for the opposite direction. Whilst doing that I remember that someone had once asked how to change the display to upside-down, so I did that at the same time.
The main idea here is that you pick a default rotation, and then you only have a button press to toggle it on and off. Anything more than that would require a UI and therefore more interaction, and since I'm trying to keep interaction to a minimum, that sort of goes against the principle of it.
I'll have a think about it though, but I think what you're suggesting is a completely different application. I'm not against doing that, but it won't be part of the development of this.
Thanks for the suggestion mate
Ah ok, I see. Also understand the "minimalist" philosophy behind the development.
The way I would use a programme like this would be to have it as a quicklink on my front screen (I tend not to link things to hardware buttons) which would then give me the options of (L)eft, (R)ight or (U)pside Down. If that requires a UI (I guess it does) then don't go to all that trouble.
The problem with me is I don't always rotate my device the same way all the time (I'm weird like that) although upside down is a new one on me (I remember Tubgirl, I think, asking for that).
Cheers anyway.
WB
Very nice....it's much more convenient than using BSBTweaks and shaking it... Thanks!
Just a quick question:
I use the Standard Windows Hardware Button Assignment and mapped my internet browser button with "rotate Screen"...
now here for the question: Is it possible to write that app for other buttons too? 'cause i'd love to have multifunction on my browser button and your app is almost perfect for it^^ short press = Opera, long hold = rotate... that would be SO AWESOME!!!!
btw: your app is great as it is now.... it's just a question^^

I think to do what you've suggested, you'd need something like AEButtons. I've never used it myself, but I believe you can assign different actions for long and short button presses to hardware buttons.
Hope this helps
Thanks thanks thank you very much
another key assignement
is it possible to assignt the exe not to long send button but to windows start button (u know that one in the middle in htc leo-next to home button)

You'll need to look at other software for that. Try AEButtons. It's not something I use myself, but I believe it will do what you want.

Heh - They're far from honed! If it were a windows (PC) app I was building, I'd have no problems. I'm pretty nifty around windows on a PC, but mobile dev is pretty new to me, so I'm just picking it up as I go along. It's always good to find someone asking for something that makes me think "I could do that!"
Cheers for the comments mate - hope you like the new version

Quick tip for rom users

If you cant stand that knock off is gone on your custom rom that you have happily flashed on your g2... ive noticed alot of people asking so here is a few solutions if you already dont have one! Got a better way? Suggest it! Will edit if necessary.
1. If you dont use google now from your home button swiping up... download the app in the link below!
{FOR CYANOGENMOD USERS} Your rom already comes with a toggle for this... accessible from SETTINGS>>INTERFACE>>QUICK LAUNCH SHORTCUTS... obviously slide up and set it as "Screen off" towards the bottom of the list.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en <<
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once you have that downloaded you can now swipe up like you would normally access google now... it will now give you the option to set a default for the screen off application, do it and now you can swipe up from anywhere on your device (Even the lockscreen) to turn off your screen without having to touch the buttons on the back! (Now i noticed when i was running an AOKP rom this didnt work every time as due to the fact every time it would shut off it would turn right back on... if thats the case for you try out option 2!
2. [YOU WILL NEED THE SAME APPLICATION AS IN OPTION 1] This is a simple bit, but your rom might not have this capability... if you go to your navbar settings you should be able to enable long press actions for buttons... select any button you'd like and set the long press for the application you have downloaded!
3. [YOU WILL NEED THE SAME APPLICATION AS IN OPTION 1] And lastly your third option... this should be if neither option 1 nor 2 work for your custom rom which they should... This one however is not easily accesible from any screen on your device only your home screen... first things first download that application above, now you download a launcher such as Apex launcher which i would reccomend because it allows this without paying for the full version and i tend to like apex alot better, from there go straight into your apex settings and go to behaviour... check out those gestures and set that application as your gesture! Nova launcher's is pretty self explanitory if you have prime. after that your good to go! Easy accesable screen off techniques you cant live without on the g2, hope this helps some of you!
I have another idea. Use GMD gesture control and use the edge of your screen to turn off the phone, or even double tap the nav bar (the app is ridiculously useful)
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
Another option for CM Roms is to use the app below which gives you the option to Knock Off from anywhere on the entire home screen when using Apex or Nova and then have a double tap set or any other gesture you like up to execute this app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cillinsoft.scrnoff
thanks alot. due to that reason so many people dont want to jump custom rom as like me
GMD Gesture Control - > define 3 finger swipe down gesture anywhere to turn screen off. There you go, most comfortable solution.

My main reason for loving Knockon (and not jumping to any rom) is the wake up feature though. This is the first time that I have an android device where I don't rape the power button just to look at how pretty my lockscreen or launcher is.

[How-To][Video] Double-Tap to Turn Off Screen with Nova

So one of the main things I hated when switching to the LG G3 is the fact that I'm someone who likes to use third party launchers like Nova Launcher. Because of that, I lost one of the main selling points of the LG G3, double-tap to turn off the screen from the Home Screen. Well, this morning I had some random epiphany and realized there's gotta be an app to turn off the screen without using the button on your phone, and remembered Nova has a gestures and clicks shortcut feature to perform tasks. So whether you have an LG G3 and are in my situation OR someone who has ANY other Android device and wants to do this too, be sure to check out my latest

Sure do! But it's a bigger phone, I don't want to reach up all the time, especially if I can avoid it. Not to mention that on the home screen my notification bar is hidden to save extra screen real-estate. So while that feature is nice in apps, it's not always the most convenient nor is it always an option for everyone. Plus this also lets ANYONE use this feature, not just us LG G2 and G3 usuers.
Dude pretty smart trick.. Been looking for a way to do this with nova.. Thanks
Can't watch the embed for some reason (chrome on g3), but very pleased to see this. I set double tap of home to kill the screen as another option, but still want a tap anywhere setup.
I'd do a short writeup in you original post so you don't have to watch the video as well and give a link to the play store app if one is being used.
Thanks.
For those who use greenify, from within the app select the menu button and create shortcut to greenify and sleep. Single tap but must be on icon where you chose place on desktop. Greenifying is the bonus.

Save your Power Button

I've seen several posts where people are having their Power Buttons fail so I thought I would recommend an app that I've used for quite a while now.
Screen Off and Lock (it's in the Play Store)
Once installed and set up you just double tap the home screen.
About the only time I use my power button is to get to the reboot menu.
If you are in the habit of just letting your screen time out, this will actually help with battery life if you use it.
Thanks!
Great little app. A bit of a pain to uninstall (if you want to) but they talk you through it well. I like the Old Style TV animation :highfive: !

How to fix MiFavor

If you have any suggestions, add in comments and I'll update the OP. Going to try to keep this list as comprehensive as possible.
Ambient Display: Stock ambient display sucks, so I don't miss it here. But would be nice to get something similar to Moto's active notifications to make use of the amoled panel.
Smart power-save: What does it really do? Is it limiting CPU speed? Is it using a more conservative governor? I can't tell any difference (performance or battery) when it's on vs off.
Voiceprint: Completely useless. I bet not a single person uses this.
MyVoice: This would be MUCH more useful if you could trigger it without touching phone while screen was off. In its current form, the time it takes to unlock my phone, hold back, say my command, and wait for it to respond, I'd be better off just doing whatever I wanted it to do. Screen off voice commands are natively supported by Qualcomm, even when the phone is in Doze.
Gesture & Motion:
-Double tap to wake is very slow and doesn't work when phone has gone into Doze.
It also works in your pocket because there is no proximity sensor check. There needs to be.
-Shake flashlight: You really need to shake your phone violently now. So violently in fact that you will throw your phone more often than not trying to turn your flashlight on.
-Give us some kind of camera gesture when phone is off. Double tap power, hold volume button, shake phone, whatever.
Navigation Keys: Capacitive buttons should be optional. I like being able to swap which side the back button is on, but we should be able to customize long-presses.
Battery Percentage: Should be displayed inside the battery icon or replace it. Uses up a ton of space on the status bar.
Workaround: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kroegerama.android4batpercent
Holster Mode: Completely useless. This is a phone, not a fitbit. Keeping the phone screen on all the time to use as a pedometer will destroy your battery life.
Cast Screen: Why is this not a toggle in the notification shade? Why do I need to dig into the display settings to do this? You have a dual sim quick-toggle, but not a cast screen quick-toggle?
Sound: I really like that when I mute ringer, media volume also mutes. But when you unmute, it goes back to whatever it was at before, which can be a lot louder than you think. Android should tie all volumes except alarm volume together, but if nothing else, let us tie ringer and notification volume together.
Mute Schedule: Why did they remove stock 6.0's timed do not disturb functionality?
Charging Sounds: Should be able to turn off.
Apps: To disable stock calendar, clock, gallery, mifavor launcher, my voice, stock music app, and stock video app, you have to open "stock android launcher" and drag icons from the app drawer to top of screen. Why can't we just disable these same apps from settings --> apps?
Storage: Let us use adaptable storage!
Connect to PC: Does the "Install driver" option do anything? Have not found a computer that does not install driver automatically when MTP selected.
Lockscreen: Get rid of the bell!
Notification Shade: Editing toggles is nice, but let us add and remove toggles. Many of us don't use a 2nd sim card, so having 3 related toggles is a waste of space.
System UI Tuner: Holding the gear icon in the notification shade causes it to spin and settings to open, but System UI Tuner never appears in settings. If you're not going to let us use System UI Tuner, get rid of the toggle.
Stock Weather widget: I really like the widget, but does not scale when resizing. Also, does not open Google clock if stock clock is disabled when clicked. Oh well, back to Chronus.
Toolkit: Not all of these are very useful, but definitely interesting. If you want to create a home screen shortcut to any of these, open the toolkit app and long press whatever icon you like.
Recent Apps: clear button shouldn't cover up 50% of the currently open app. This will be solved in nougat, so probably not worth fixing, but if you're going to put a clear all button on this screen, but it near the top left or top right so it's harder to accidentally press.
Status Bar Color: When status bar turns dark, icons stay dark so you can't read anything. These should turn white.
Speaker Phone: If on speaker phone and screen times out, other person can no longer hear you until you toggle speakerphone off then back on, which means constantly touching your phone's screen so it doesn't time out.
Phone call Proximity Sensor: Doesn't work. If you turn the screen off and hold the phone up to your head, if the proximity sensor sees light, which it will because it's not centered, it will turn the screen BACK ON. With this and the bug above together, phone calls are a huge pain in the ass.
Dolby Atmos: This resets EQ settings very often. I can't figure out what causes it to reset to default, but the settings just never seem to stick.
Anyone have any more info on this?
Write Protection on Rooted phones: Rooted and still can't get adaway or titanium backup to work? Turns out there's an extra layer of write protection here that's not found in other phones. Why do we need this? Luckily, there's a simple fix: Plug phone into computer, load up adb, type "adb reboot disemmcwp" (source:http://androidforums.com/threads/zte-write-protection-for-zmax-and-other-zte-phones.1040331/)
Disable stock apps: in B20, you could disable several stock apps that did not allow you to disable them in settings --> apps by opening"stock Android" launcher and dragging app drawer icons to disable. Seems that has been removed in B27, so now we have no way to disable redundant clocks and calendars to name a few.
Any more suggestions? Anyone know any fixes for the above?

Good summary. I can't believe someone actually thought the notification bell (and subsequently, the inability to turn it off) was a good idea.
I'm going to try to list workarounds here as well, so if someone can come up with good fixes for any of this stuff without waiting for ZTE, please share!
Updated with some new findings and ideas.

But Android already has a perfectly working system to hide notification content before unlocking the device. You can even pick which apps to show and which ones to hide. And, most importantly, it's OPTIONAL. And it's actually much better at protecting your privacy. With the bell, all the content is visible without actually unlocking your phone.. it just makes it more inconvenient to access.

Mine does the same (also on mute all the time). Apparently if you have volume on, it makes noise. Either way, should be able to toggle the "charging notification".
Added speaker phone and proximity bugs.

Hope speakerphone gets fixed soon. Use it a lot. We need to get all this great info to ZTE. Thanks for great thread.

"Wake on Plug" toggle (waking up screen on plug or unplug). I have this option on a Nexus tablet and OnePlus One phone, but it does not exist in MiFavor.

Apps: To disable stock calendar, clock, gallery, mifavor launcher, my voice, stock music app, and stock video app, you have to open "stock android launcher" and drag icons from the app drawer to top of screen. Why can't we just disable these same apps from settings --> apps?

What do you mean with stock android launcher? Where do i find it? I cant deactive this bloat without root
The phone, at least in US version, comes with a launcher called "Stock Android Launcher", but it is just a differently themed MiFlavor launcher, not a real stock android launcher. Confusing, but that is what is there.

Settings > Themes and Wallpapers.
On the US model, there's a theme titled "Stock Android". When using that theme, you can open up the app drawer, press and hold on an app, and on the top of the screen there's a "Disable" option. This is different from the standard Settings > Apps > selecting an app > Disable (which is greyed out for most of the stock apps).

Sadly, no such option on G Version -.- only 5 slightly different ZTE themes.
Also no Myvoice in g version. WTF?!
@xxBrun0xx: I saw you linked to this list in a ZTE forum, but I think it would be better if it had its own thread as well.
In addition to "wake on plug" toggle I mentioned a few posts above, I would like to see an option to remap capacitative buttons to whatever user wants, right now they can only be "flipped", but ability to have custom functions (on both short and long press) would be helpful. I personally, would like to use one of the button for menu rather than for recent apps.
