100 minutes charging time are normal for this phone. The charging current is limited to 800mA which is not really high. I think this is already fast enough. The energy consumption is very high. It is possible to have percent drop but not at rate without plug in. Also the CPU omapp4430 have thermal protection to prevent over-hearting. The charging current will be lower when it is being charged more than certain value. If you are smart enough, you can try to edit the thermal protection. Good luck.

Don't forget the battery capacity - it is quite big, so 100 min is fast enough. I wouldn't try to edit the thermal protection - you may as well damage the phone. As for the games that you play - I guess it is something with cool graphics, so the battery goes low fast.

Thanks because I feared I thought I was cheated with a defective phone. But still I have many worries.. my battery drains too fast,, I have tried many battery saver apps.. But none of them help really.. I have uninstalled Facebook and use must of the social apps only by browser.. for example, a 100 percent battery drains in less than 5 hours, of which I would use internet based apps for 2 hours and the remaining time I would just check mail and whatsapp my data will be connected those 5 hours.. is this normal too ? Because galaxy phones with similar 2100Mah batteries last atleast 2 more hours than my phone. I am using a unrooted phone and I am unfamiliar with wakelocks. Should I replace my battery ? It's just a 2 month old phone.. , my friends say reinstalling the phone's software might help.. But I want to get an idea from u all before I can do anything.. Just help me with this too please

Noo. As u said I won't change anything in the phone until my warranty period, I didn't even root my phone because of my warranty.. I am not a techie like most of u guys here.. But I hope ur ideas can help non techie guys like me.. so please help me with a solution, is there any good battery saver application? Or is there anything I should do with the settings? I never use WiFi , Bluetooth, or gprs, my phone brightness is below 35 percent all the time, I just keep my data switched on all the time.. Just please share ur ideas friends

The first thing that comes to my mind is trying the hard reset. After doing that, delete or turn off all the unnacessary apps(settings - apps), as you've mentioned, disable the functions you don't use(gps and so on). I don't think that any of the battery savers really help - I never really saw any positive effect of them. Just use the default app(settings - battery saving). If you use only mobile internet connection and it is wcda only, then make sure you switch to wcda mode only - it also helps save the battery.

Try to use 2g network more often than 3g. If possible, root your phone and delete MLT.apk, it is a major consumer of battery on stock rom. Also the brightness should be kept below 50 for optimal battery life.

had similar problem ,
now first of all ,are you too lazy to switch off wifi etc by notification bar ..? if not then battery saver and antivirus apps are just waste of battery
second ,your charging Jack maybe faulty ,I had similar issue ,after replacement my battery lasts for 10 hours( full wifI and big time shadowgun deadzone playa)

I did all those u have mentioned. Except reset. . Thank you guys, I will try the reset option and let u know

[Q] Serious Battery Drains due to Cell radio and Phone Stand by

Just a week ago i brought a new Samsung galaxy Ace S5830...this is my first Android mobile..overall Speed,Internet is Awesome. But the problem is with battery..
In a day Max to Max for half hour i use Facebook..and lets say 1 hour for Surfing Net..and in a day 2-3 calls of upto 5 minute Max.But still my battery usage details are below
This are my battery usage detail:
Cell Standby - 49%
Phone Idle - 68%
Display - 36%
With this kind of battery usage even after charging Full battery still it somehow manages to work for only 3 hrs Max!!!
i tried to clear Ram Memory bt still no use after clearing ram the battery usage details reduces my some % but strange thing is even if i dont connect to internet still this value again increases from 30 to 70%..
i had also used "NoBars Battery Saver" app but still no change..
tried to Enter this Code *#*#4636#*#* But after i Enter this Code i choosed to Tun off Radio option..but this Stopped me from making calls and receving..so i had to again Turn on Cell Radio button.
So all i want to know is is there any app or any working code.. to Disable Cell radio and improve my battery life or Shall i go for new battery of Lion 1500 mAh
I think you should use juice defender... Use it in customized mode & disable the schedule part in it... Also keep the brightness to its lowest...
One more thing in location & security settings disable the first 2 options... This should solve your problem to quite an extent.. If not then you have go to samsung service centre...

Nothing personal man, just ITS MY OPINION. I used it only ONCE and dont like it by my self. SORRY!
I just want keep my phone clean (less apps, doing something, then you get less PROBLEMS) and install ONLY needed apps. You can MOSTLY configure your phone options from PHONE MENU it self. Just look them precisely and you be GOOD(of course not ALL options, but most of them, what you need).

Juice Defender is of no use didn't stop battery draining just consumes space.
To save ur battery
*Lower ur display brightness (very imp)
*Upgrade to 2.3.3 + Rom
*Turn off wifi and b/t when not in use
* Turn off wifi locator
*Root It
*Stop backgorunds app (kill autoruns)
It will save ur battery as much as it can but sga battery is very poor as its 1350mAH :|

I think the apn widget is the manual version of juice defender.
Juice defender switches off the connectivity automatically when you lock the screen where as you hav to do manually in case of apn widget.

Firstly You don't have to say sorry for expressing your opinion.
I know that I can configure the settings manually instead of using juice defender. But it does it automatically & it takes only few kbs of memory. So I can afford that much of memory & save time.
But thats my opinion!!

Worst case of battery draining on galaxy s2?

My galaxy s2 has had battery issues the day i got it.I was getting around 6-7 hours then, thought it was some issue with firmware checked the battery usage and everything seemed fine expect for few times the android os seemed a little high , so i installed a custom rom , tried sensation and villianrom and a few others .Villianrom seemed to help battery a little but few days in and battery is again draining like fuel in a f1.So i decided its nothing about the firmware and all , maybe i have a bad phone or battery cause its draining like 1% every 2 -3 mins while browsing or doing anything as a matter of fact i get about 4-5 or at best 6.5 hours but thqts rare.I mostly use wi-fi so it definitely uses less battery than 3g . So now my question is ... As i have rooted my phone do i get
The warranty assets as my phone is like 4 months old.I know about unrooting but will that do the trick ?
And btw apart from battery issues , which seem like i have a unique case , my experience with the phone has been amazing this is definetely the best phone on market ;-)
Please respond....and also share your experiences with battery backup of s2 .....thankyou. cheers B-)
*i forgot to add that another thing that i have been noticing is the high battery usage by the display , it sometimes is as high as 80% even on low brightness to which i have found no cure...no matter what i try it lowers sometimes to about 30% or more and is back again to higher, this has furthered my doubt that i have a faulty piece. Pls comment.

I'd say 1% every 2-3 minutes sounds about right if you have screen fairly bright.
Did you do a back up before installing custom rom?
If so install original rom back, then I think you need a usb jig, which is available from ebay. This will reset your custom binary counter so the warranty peeps won't know you've flashed a custom rom at some time.
I'm quite new to this so hopefully someone else may reply and correct me if wrong.

Did you recently connect to Kies because I was having probs with my SGS2 getting really hot and losing power as a result of Kies/a dodgy USB lead?
A factory reset solved it however ( remember to back up ) but sometimes just removing your battery for 90 seconds to reset the values works.

Turn off Google backup, face awake, try that for starters
First of all, switch off your phone for a while to see if there is problem in battery or its the apps you are running. If you think it is a stupid step,
Then try using some software like JuiceDefender or something.
In app manager, kill apps that are useless.
Also turn off features like bluetooth, gps etc. if on.
Reduce phone's brightness, recommended to set it to "auto".
Turn off useless vibrations and LED notifications.
You should now see significant improvemance in battery life.
Hope this helps
I have taken all these steps gone ahead to remove live wall paper, auto sync disabled, brightness is set at auto. And its still the same. I don't want to tow the line of hard reset because am not sure that would solve the problem coupled with the time it would take to get my sgs3 to suite me

I use juice defender which manages everything for me, an overnight schedule ensures the battery only drops by 1 or 2%
Sent via TCP/IP
okay so i thought i had a battery problem before i tried putting my phone aside (meaning no games, no internet browsing and no video streaming nothing, just using whatsapp and leaving facebook connected. I also have lots of apps and games installed over 15 or something)
If you decreasing screen time you will notice a HUGE difference (24hrs in my case), its basically down to usage, I have tried over 10 different roms and kernels as well as the v6 supercharger script, i dont ever notice the difference, EVER. unless of course i use a minimalistic rom with almost nothing to play around with, but if thats how u like it then go for that. Id say following all the fundamental steps will take you a long way
my final advice:
less screen time
when on the screen use the least brightness available
decrease stock brightness even more if you can
less app usage
if your not one to constantly play with your phone and customize stuff on it try installing a minimal rom like
|ROM|XXBLG8| IOIDroid Super Slim Edition | Buttery Smooth | V1.0.0 LIVE !! |
or
[ROM][4.0.4] Slim ICS (SGS3) - Clean, Simple & Fast (63MB)
i dont know if this is a placebo of not, but sometimes i notice improvements when i undervolt, underclock and limit to only dual core. believe it or not sometimes it has little or the adverse effect of saving battery
good luck man
And another question, which can be solved through the search function or Google -.-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=937080
So here is my experience. Have been using android for years, have had an hd2 so I know how to get good battery life results. For some reason I easily lost 15-20% overnight with just the gsm 2g radio on. No matter what I did it drained fast even though deep sleep was fine, all extras sync and etc were off. 3hrs screen on time in 14 hours and it was dead.
I kept waiting for an update to solve this and it never came even though I was force checking it.
I ended up factory resetting the phone and as soon as it booted up an ota update popped up. Since then I am having nearly 6hrs screen on time in 40hrs,which is amazing.

Greetings, I have seen a similar problem back in our hox forums. I have come here in peace to help, though. Recently, someone suggested bump charging, it's like a natural way of making your battery recalibrate itself without wiping battery stats or stuff like that.
First off, charge the battery until it says 100% while the device is on.
Then remove the charger, turn off the power, and charge again.
Remove the charger again when it says full while the device is off.
Turn it on again, then when it's properly booted, charge again, but don't use the device until it says it's fully charged already.
Mind you, we're not sure if it's just a placebo or not. Some claims to have had better battery life after doing this for once a month. I haven't tried it yet, but I thought I could share it here too.

Just to offer two cents from my experience with this phone.
I recently got a replacement for my s3.. the details of that are for another post, but this relates to battery:
when I first got the phone i started using it right away. I did not charge the battery until I got to the office and charged the phone while using it the first day.
when I got the second replacement phone I already had a second battery.
This battery was fully charged and immediately used that in the new phone. fully charged the samsung battery before I used it.
I noticed significantly better performance with the second phone. I think it was because of the way i treated the battery strait out of the box.
any one agree, or have a similar experience?

After the newest update i also notice that it has a high % drain even if i turn 3g off, gps and everything nothing unusual runs in the background that can explain high drain yet it does.. and i didnt notice that before the latest update and i havent installed any weird apps. Xperia Sola battery drop 5% per hour without use, is it normal?

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
My new Xperia Sola's battery drop 5% per hour without any use. 3G data is on, but background data is off (as i have started the power save mode).
Background running app only facebook and whatapps, is it normal that battery drop 5% per hour with screen off ?
Thanks!
doesnt matter if backdround data is off, facebook WILL try to update the timeline in the cycle you've set it to. so yea pretty normal to me as the sola doesnt have a huge battery.
Same problem here too!
Even if you don't use your phone still the battery drops almost at a constant rate of 4% to 6% and that is very annoying. Hoping Sony would fix this issue with their next OS update.
But sola users have an extreme advantage of fast charging. Sola charges itself about 12% in hardly 10mins. Thats the better part

Hey guys,
5% an hour is 20 hours. to me that is pretty dam good. i used to get about 16 - 18 out of my arc S. with everything on.
Your Data connection is a mega killer weather or not you have background data on or not. it is the connection to the tower that drains the battery.
my arc is now just a phone for work and without the 3g on I get over a week out of it.
we all need to remember that these phones are not like the old nokia's and stuff. modern phones need modern charging habits
Pvy.
You shoud deactivate LiveWare widgets and services because it consumes a huge amount of power. Sometimes I get even +48 hours of standby on my Xperia U.
Try this out! It worked for me!
Okay! I fiddled with my phone a bit to improve battery life and it did work!
Go to settings> Applications> running
check the applications using a lot of RAM and has been using the phones active state for long time. Delete those useless apps. Also apps which connect to the internet uselessly consume a lot of battery!
It worked for me! Now my phone discharges just about 2-3% in 6 hours. Its because earlier my phone wasnt going into deep sleep mode where it consumes the least battery!
Now its battery standby has boosted up a lot!.
I'm happy now!
Try and tell me whether it worked for you guys or not!
Yeah. Disable Bravia display, reduce brightness, switch off data and WiFi, kill useless running background apps, disable widgets. I lose 2% battery in 6 hours in standby mode. I do these before sleeping and its damn effective. Also root ur phone n install autokiller memory optimizer and set aggressive values. This enhances phone speed and also battery is improved

There is a better solution ...... turn off your phone.:silly:

Well the smart thing to do is to turn on the extra stuff only when needed. It's still a smartphone even when gps is turned off for example

Strange Battery Issue

I have Micromax Canvas hd purchased 1 month ago.I m facing a serious trouble which service center also cant solve(as i have tred visiting it). When I charge my mobile to100% and when it reaches to 30%,my battery drains too quick till 12% without having any apps open. After 12% I tried charging till 35% but it drains normal till 0%.I have updated android from service center, changed battery also. They say that motherboard needs to be replaced(they havnt understood the problem yet properly). Is it firmware problem?
in which some files are corrupted due to which it is showing wrong battery stats.Beacuse I get normal battery life.I can use it for 1 day after normal usage.
After 87% of charging it jumps to 100% in 2 minutes. But if i charge only till 87% then i dont face drain problem from 30% to 12%.
Is this a motherboard issue?
Exact problem with my device too.... Please some experts suggest solutions on this.. Battery calibration dies not work...

Try a battery calibration it should work if not then try installing a custom ROM this will definitely solve your problem but in case you don't want a custom Rom try installing Pure performance and if you don't want to try even this one then try downloading a battery indicator app which will show correct readings. Generally this is just a problem with the software you'll get the complete 100% output but only the numbers out there are different. so it should not be a big problem.
Hit thanks if i've helped.

i hav tried battery calibration through various apps e1 manually deleting batterystatsbin file but none helped.Installed stock rom 4.1.2(v0.16)coz many people dont have problm with it(i knw personally 2-3 people) still none working 4 me.I will try custom rom but what is "pure perfomance" i wana try it b4 installing new rom.
Hey it happens to me as well. Battery calibration I am yet to try. The real reason I wanted to reply here is I have had a bad experience with Pure Performance MOD. Its just a zip file flashable through CWM. What it does is it makes ur phone faster than ever, however battery drains equally as fast. Before you try it, I really really really really suggest a backup through CWM.

Sir but it means you're facing few problems which many don't , yes few of them complain of such problems but there are also many who've experienced dramatic increase in battery backup.
Source: My personal experience
Before i installed this ROM, For example in night by 10.00 pm if the battery % was around 70 by morning it would be around 64-63 but now it is 69 or max 68 and i also see changes in benchmark tests etc etc.
I recommend you reflashing the Rom and would recommend it to others.

Pure performance is a Rom developed to increase the overall response of your device. It also boost battery backup etc etc Search about it in XDA.
I also having the same issue...
1st when it happens drain battery to 0%
Then charge it to 100% plus some more time....
It works perfectly till again 0%....
At least it works for me nd my friend....

@G. Ashwin Kumar
I don't really bother about benchmark scores. As far as system response time being faster using PPX, I go for an alternative.
Settings-> Developer options-> Lower the window and transition animation scale to .5x [Currently running X flare v2]
This is why it did not work out for me bro...

WTF??i have tried it many a times..Can u provide step by step instructions bro??btw which app?
I have had a similar issue with my o3d which seems more like a hardware problem because a re-flash seems to do nothing to help the issue nor does battery calibration. I am stuck at an almost constant 0% though so my issue may be different i do have a thread in the o3d forum about this. (although i do recommend calibattery app if stuck for a battery gauge even though it is not completely accurate but better than nothing). If under warranty i would just try to get a replacement.

last time i rooted my phone there was not a asingle problem
now battery 1% die in every 5 seconds
i tried battery calibiration
used wakelock to find apps then greenify them still hardly 40 min till my 100% goes to 0% and its new phone and battery was working well before rooting
last time root had no rpooblems
this time i installed SQlite installer for root guess thats reason but i cant delete its really imp app for me
Battery stuck on 14% a long time.
@Rohit.
What I did:
1. Download "Battery calibration" from playstore. (Developer- Nema)
2. Drained battery till 1%..
3. Charged the phone to a 100%. [Received 2 calls for approx 10 mins in total, for which I had to unplug the charger.]
4. Once battery was 100% I FIRST UNPLUGGED the charger and then clicked Battery Calibration.
The last step here is not what the app suggests in the instructions, I only realized it after I clicked Battery Calibration.
I hope this works for you too brother.
