I've been using CM 10.1.3 for some time without any problems. Over the past few days I've noticed that the LTE connection hasn't been active at all, and I can't manually turn it on. 3G still works, but no 4G/LTE. How do I troubleshoot to determine if the problem is hardware or software?

If you go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> More... -> Mobile Networks -> Network Mode, what do you have selected? I've had problems w/ the wrong mode being selected following CM nightly updates.
I currently have DCMA + LTE/EvDo selected and LTE is working great for me. I believe I've had Global selected in the past and it also worked.

Mine was set to "Global." I've never changed that setting, so I'm not sure what happened, but when I used the CDMA+LTE/EVDO like you said, it turned right on and appears to be working perfectly. Thanks a bunch!

Hello all,
Not sure if anyone have the same issue, but my WiFi drains about 7% battery in 30 mins. My connection is stable. It seems that WiFi is scanning about every 5 seconds for new networks.
I'm on Villain 2.0, KG1 modem and KG1 kernel.
should only scan if not connected if you have wi-fi enabled that is!

It should, yet it's still scanning for new networks, even though WiFi is already connected.
Advanced settings when in the wifi settings should have a tick box for notifying you of available networks. Ensure this is disabled!

Hi - I have the same problem. I did not have it when I was on KE8 which was my original FW. I then updated it to KF3 and initially I did not have this problem. Then I observed the batter drain so I checked that this was happening when WiFi is connected. I have unchecked the tick box for notifying the available networks. It did not work. I flashed Cognition ROM v.13 and then v1.15. The problem still persists. Is this a known issue? I am not seeing many entries regarding this problem.
I don't know if this is a known problem or not, but very annoying.
My Mozart for some reason can no longer find my home wi-fi network. It was working just fine 10 minutes ago and now, all of a sudden I unlock it and theres no Wi-Fi connection. Checked in Settings but the network doesnt appear in the list anymore.
The network is fine as im using it on my laptop now to type this and on my iPad. I tried switching Wi-Fi on an off several times and also rebooted the device many times too. I also tried adding the network like it was hidden, but no avail...
Any ideas?
UPDATE (PROBLEM SOLVED)
Okay i got the problem fixed, it wasnt a Windows Phone problem, my router suddenly decided to change the channel it was broadcasting on, it was 6 before, bumped it to 11 and now the phone is able to connect again XD
Are you running Mango?
I had problems connecting to my Wi-Fi pre-Mango when the SSID was hidden. Mango, however seems to connect fine in this scenario.
Apologies... I just re-read your question. I seem to have mis-read the NON HIDDEN network.

Yeah im on official Mango, forced it through Zune... And im certain my network isnt hidden...
If you go to Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Advanced is the network shown as a 'Known network'? If so, remove it restart your phone and try again.

It was listed and yeah, i tried that too, didnt work.
I think i'll hard reset the phone to the original pre-NoDo ROM and see if i have the same problem, if I do then it might be a hardware issue? Good thing I still have my warranty...
[UPDATE]
I just reset the phone, lost all my data for nothing -.-
[UPDATE 2]
Restored the phone to 7008, same problem... I'll reset the modem in a few hours. I hope that's the problem because the phone has no problem finding and connecting to networks further away from me...
Have you tried enabling the SSID again in the router setup then connect on your handset and finally hiding it again through the router?

I am away form home now and facing some frustrating issues with my new S3.
1. I cant connect to any WIFI network though the WIFI connection has very good signal strength. I always get the msg 'Network disabled. Poor Connection'. There is nothing wrong with the WIFI as i can connect it with my laptop and my buddy could connect to it using his IPhone.
2. My roaming time is completely wrong. It does not follow the time of the country I am in. It is showing the same time as my home country network. Shouldnt it automatically detect the network and shows the correct time like Iphone?

1. Restart the router & try just using 2.4Ghz in settings > wifi > advanced
2. Ensure: menu > settings > date & time > check [auto date & time] and [auto time zone]

Hi, this is my first post, as I created my account specially with the purpose to answer you.
After being faced with the problem all day and reading all possible materials on the topic in google and here, my dad walked in and asked me why he is not able to connect to our home wireless connection.
This was when I retrieved my hope that the problem is not in the phone. And it was not! My iPhone, my laptop were able to obtain a internet connection in contrast to my other laptop and my S3! I restarted the rooter and everything was ok! Everbody got their internet dose !
So, most probably it isn't you!
Also have wifi problem, except it tells me it's an authentication error. I cannot connect to the WiFi unless I stand right next to it. Can't connect to WiFi anywhere (if you think it's the router in my house), even though the device detects the router. Sent it back to Samsung.

Hey, I experienced the same problem. But in my case, I am able to connect to the AP, if I am using a static IP address in the SGS3 instead of DHCP. Same router, no settings changed there. Just configured a static IP.
Cheers,

Same problem
Tried everything still not working, took it back to samsung they said it's working fine any other device is connecting without a problem but the S3 wont (i have 15 S3 with this problem)
Thanks
Bring back the phones to Samsung!

I'm also frequently getting the "Network disabled. Poor Connection" message when at home. I have 2 wifi routers:
- Buffalo WHR G54S
- Draytek 2920n
If I turn wifi off/on on the S3 it sometimes resolves the issue, but not always. Sometimes after turning off/on it shows a status of "Connected"but there is no internet connectivity. If I then switch to the other router I can sometimes (but not always) connect successfully.
I'm running Checkrom v5.5, and have tried both the Perseus and Siyah kernels - both have this problem.
After I selected 5Ghz only, the option to select the wifi frequency band is no longer there?? Help!!
These are the default options which are supposed to be available :
Network notification: By default, when Wi-Fi is on, you receive notifications in the Status bar when your device detects an open Wi-Fi network. Uncheck this option to turn off notifications
Avoid poor connections: Check to automatically avoid using networks with a low-quality or intermittent Internet connection. <- this one as well!
Keep Wi-Fi during sleep: To conserve mobile data usage, your device stays connected to Wi-Fi when the screen goes to sleep.
Touch this option to change this default behavior: either to stay connected to Wi-Fi only when the device is connected to a charger (when battery life isn't a problem), or never to
Stay connected to Wi-Fi during sleep. The latter choice is likely to increase mobile data usage. You may want to revisit this setting if you receive a notification that you're approaching your specified mobile data limit.
Wi-Fi frequency band: Specify Automatic, 5 GHz, or 2.4 GHz frequency bands <-- this option is missing
Any ideas? Thanks!
Also, it's not just my default 2.4GHz band missing, even the neighbors. There were more than 10 when I scanned for them previously
Same problem here
I have the same problem on my Galaxy SIII... I chose to disable the 5Ghz band (2.4 only) in an attempt to suss out the problems with my phones wifi connectivity. I duly forgot about the setting until recently.
Between then and now - there was an update to my phone (which I did apply) - and now the advanced menu for Wifi does not contain an option to choose the Wifi Frequency Band... I've tried looking for 3rd party tools that allow you to set this - but haven't found any yet...
I'm on Android v. 4.0.4 with T-Mobile. Does anyone know how to set the frequency band back to Auto?
Much appreciated!!

Galaxy S3 - I747 - WIFI FREQUENCY BAND (feature) MISSING AFTER UPDATE!!
-------->Kernel Version: 3.0.8-985684 - BUILD # IMM76D.I747UCALH9
Under the 'WiFi Advanced Settining' Menu >
These are the default options which are supposed to be available :
- Network notification:
- Keep Wi-Fi during sleep
- Auto Connect
- Wi-Fi Frequency Band: Specify Automatic, 5 GHz, or 2.4 GHz frequency bands <-- THIS OPTION (feature) IS MISSING!!!
- Mac Address
-IP Address
Why did samsung remove this very important feature (Wi-Fi Frequency Band) with this new update?
How am I supposed to chose between Auto, 2.4GH and 5GH connection now?
Will you put it back?
Any OAT to fix the problem?
CAN ANYONE AT SAMSUNG EXPLAIN THIS?
I HAVE CALLED AND CHATED W/ SAMSUNG SUPPORT, BUT NOBODY CAN GIVE ANY INFO.
Ditto
I am suffering from exactly the same issue on my Galaxy SII. I had it set to 2.4ghz only under ICS, and then flashed the latest leaked JB update. Now am missing the advanced options as per the OP.
A fix or app able to adjust these settings would be fantastic!

Have u guy's tried 'Wifi Connection Manager' from stores

I just tried and it's a no go, still can't find 5ghz networks.
Have you done a factory reset? If not, go to your recovery and delete cache and data. There are no other options if you don't root that comes to my mind.

Twice, but it didn't help.
If I go into developer settings and switch off Mobile data always active (in an attempt to save a little power when the phone is on Wifi), I find the phone often doesn't enable data when I leave Wifi. I have to cycle airplane mode to make it do it.
Anyone else finding the same bug? Or even using this setting?
I've had dropped connection issues since day 1, with airplane mode being the only way to restore my connection. And this was with Mobile Data always active set to on.
Who is your Carrier??
Have you noticed similar issues even with mobile data always active?
When I go to building with no cellular and come back outside. The phone doesn't automatically reconnect to cellular, leaving me with no service. What a strange bug.

EE in the UK. Works fine almost all the time so far if I keep mobile data active.
Vodafone Romania, toggled the setting off in dev options as soon as I got the phone. Data switching works fine still.
Try going into the testing menu (dialer code *#*#4636#*#*), select phone information, select 3dot menu on top right corner, try switching around between Europe and automatic. I'm my case ,selecting Europe presented various weird connection issues , biggest of which was that the phone refused to connect to LTE unless I used "automatic".
