[Q] Latest custom rom for 8005 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am a real noob on using android. Digged the xda forum but still do not exactly understand which ROM I should use for 8005. A friend have given a custom ROM based on 4.1.2, but that 8005 haven't been touched for a long time. I clicked the factory settings and resetted.
Now please help this noob:
1) What is the newest custom ROM that I should download and where?
2) After installing that ROM, which URL should I look for rooting?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] N00b question.

Hello Everyone.
I got a n00b question and sorry for my lack of knowledge in the first place, well then :
I got a S3 GT-19300 with android 4.0.4 and firmware 19300XXLFB. (already rooted, flashed and installed a custom rom and kernel)
So, I want to install a new rom based on 4.1.1 JB and I9300XXDLJ4 firmware. My questions are: It is posible to install it with a rom manager? Can you update from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 doing that?
Thanks in advance.
you don't need an app for it if that's what you're asking.
you can do it all in recovery. the only thing you can't do is to rename the backup when you're there. (you can do it later.)
just don't forget to wipe before you flash a different version jump.
tnx man i'll try it
np.
just go into recovery with your preferred method (you can use CWM to do it or you can shut it off and use the button combo to start it into recovery. both will take you to the same exact place. then all you have to do is to go in and backup, wipe, flash, restart)

[Q] Question about updating android version from 4.04 having flashed Omega 9.xx

EDIT: [SOLVED] - For anyone following in my footsteps, ROM Manager is useless when flashing between android versions. You need to perform a wipe first so back up apps, SMS and internal SD card files. These threads were most helpful:

Hi there,
A year ago I rooted and flashed my phone to Omega 9.xx from stock. Unfortunately, I haven't paid attention to anything since and have only just realised I'm still running 4.04 and a really outdated custom ROM.
So my question is how do I update to Jellybean 4.12/4.22?
I tried flashing to Cyanogenmod using ROM Manager/CWM Touch recovery yesterday to no avail. I got as far as the boot screen where it would stick so I had to restore my nandroid back up.
Is this due to compatibility with my outdated Android version? Do I need to update it before flashing a new custom ROM? I was under the impression flashing the new ROM would auto-update android from 4.04-4.14 - am I mistaken? Details in my signature and my provider is vodafone UK.
Thanks in advance for you help - it's much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Kelevra7

Hi,
Thanks for the link. I read the entire first post but am still having a little trouble understanding where to go from here.
Do I need to flash my stock ROM before flashing a custom ROM? This part of your guide suggests I do not:
However, if you immediately plan on flashing a ROM, there's no need to root your existing ROM. Simply skip straight to installing a recovery. Backup then flash what you like.

So perhaps I just need to flash a custom ROM using CWM. But I tried this and it didn't work. I have searched a multitude of forums (spent 8+ hours) but to no avail. Nothing specifically references how to update from an old android version/custom ROM.
I have backed up my apps and system data with Titanium backup, got a nandroid backup, installed ROM Manager and Mobile Odin Lite (with the kernel add on) and tried flashing cyanogenmod9 using CWM but it failed - if you could just drop me a line pointing me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.
Kind regards,
Kelevra

[Q] My girlfriend needs a new rom

Hey guys,
My girlfriend has samsung galaxy 2 and its freezes all the time.
laggy standard rom is installed and therefore I want to change it.
I'm not familiar with the galaxy 2 device and would really appriciate a kind
advise on which rom should I install for her.
The main requierments are:
1) Hebrew compatability (full like in nexus).
2) fast and stable.
3) good batery.
I want to install a stable good rom for her so she won't need to deal with this things again.
Which rom do you suggest for me to install?
How do I backup her stuff before?
Would appriciate a nice guide on how to perform all of the above (rooting s2 for instance).
Muchas gracias amigos
What rom/firmware is she using right now? And what are the problems?
If you really want to root the device, please look at the stickies for guides. Or use Google, because there are instructions everywhere.
About the stable etc. rom: to be safe you should flash a Samsung based rom. In that case everything pretty much stays the same. But first make sure you really need to flash anything.

Did you try to connect the device to Kies? Official 4.1.2 is out for a long time now, so you should be able to upgrade it without rooting.

after all, i need to rooting the device to be more flexible

The device is already rooted, you just need to download any custom ROM you want, reboot to recovery, and flash your desired ROM from there.

first of all thanks for your answer.
If I understand properly
therefore, I'll have not any problem because of 4.4.4
that is correct ?
Yes, that is correct. The device is already rooted, with custom recovery, which means you can just reboot to recovery, wipe everything, and flash any desired ROM you want.
@@[email protected]........No disrespect intended, but this is "flashing 101" basics stuff........
The fact that you are asking it, tells me that you don't have the experience needed to do this comfortably.....
That's not a problem though.....we all start from the bottom, and learn as we go.....
But that being the case, i'd advise that you don't do anything to your phone until you've read, learnt and completely understood the processes behind the flashing procedure. It's best to understand what you are doing beforehand, rather than trying to figure out what went wrong afterwards.......

[Q] Flashing GT-I9300T to Andriod Revolution issues?!?

Hi All, My trying to flash my AU Vodafone S3 to us the Revolution HD ROM.
First I rooted the device using the instructions here:
hxxp://androidxda.com/root-samsung-galaxy-s3-gt-i9300t
(This was done before I decided to give another ROM a go.)
Now if I follow the instructions here:
hxxp://joyofandroid.com/install-android-revolution-hd-custom-rom-on-samsung-galaxy-s3/
I dont get the Wipe dalvik cache option. And the ROM install seems to work, but I get the standard vodafone image again on reboot.
I suspect this is due to the rooting I did before not giving me the dalvik option.
I have also tried to reflash to original state using the VAU-I9300TDUUGNA4-20140224095033.zip ROM
Revolution image I was trying was Android_Revolution_HD-SGS3_52.0.zip.
Is anyone able to help get back to totally standard before I try the Revolution ROM again?
Im a total newbie, I hope someone can help me out.
Thanks in advance!
