Seems that the root for the 6.3 mega variants is really sorta uncategorized and hints of it working on all kinds of threads...but not really dedicated thread for root only straight forward.
I picked up the metro Version m819n.
Im nlt sure who all carries this phone other than att and sprint amd metro Pcs now... I believe the metro version may as well be a tmobile Mega just as the s4 for metro is basically a tmobile s4 with metro bloatware.
Do we have a known root to work for Metro m819n model..
Anyone tried cf auto root or Tried to flash cwm or twrp recovery then flash su... the manual odin way.
Any known method for this model?

Odin is unsafe way to root it bexause it can mess up the lte so I prefers adb method is the safest way to root hence kingo does same as adb

No Joy!
Hey folks I have the Mega SGH-m819n and have tried the Kingo method with no luck. It does not see my phone as being connected. My PC does see it and my Kies does too. I have plugged and unplugged it to every usb port on my PC with no luck. I have disabled both devices anti-virus progs and still no love for me. I have Metro PCS. Don't know if it's a carrier thing or what but I just want to get rid of the bloat ware and want to be able to revert back to stock if need be for warranty purpose. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Okay I went a different route and flashed using Odin. Now I have root but Google play has stopped and no Wi-Fi, also my pc sees it but no contents just available space. I have tried to flash a recovery with no luck. Is it possible that I need to unlock it to get a recovery flashed?
Figured it out on my own
Used Kies to upgrade firmware and it over wrote and repaired what was broken. Lost root but that's OK. I'll wait until I find a better way to root than what's offered so far. Plus no stock rom in case I screw it up and need to restore.

Hi,
So I am wondering if it is possible to root the international S3 without a computer. I am running Swedish stock 4.1.1.
I am not new to android but I am new to xda. The reason I am asking is because I am currently backpacking in Australia and I need to root so I can get the latest update + fix a bunch problems.
With me I have a Asus transformer Eeepad if it helps at all wich I doubt.
Thanks in advance all you helpfull xda members.
Regards Reclused
If you have another device there is an app that can root from another phone... I'll look for it and post the link
Strange.. I have it installed but not showing anywhere for a link. Search root transmission here in the forums. You'll find it

How would you do that, rooting one device with another rooted device and not use Odin/Mobile Odin? Can`t think of a way right now.

Imo impossible, you always need Odin to install SU and/or CWM. If you can run that from a tablet it is oke.
-EDIT- Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014121, but not for the international S3 atm, not supported yet.
Thanks a lot, I hope they figure it out soon for the international one.
The thing is that I want the latest update on my s3 but I can't get it OTA because it is "changed" status. So I figured I would root it and flash the latest stock version via mobile Odin. But can I root the TF101 without a computer and then use the root transmission perhaps? It has the latest version 9.2.1.27 ICS.

Hi,
This is my first post and have a few questions about my phone. I recently rooted my s3 and flashed the siyah kernel by CWM and also flashed jkay framework. I am going to Europe for two and a half weeks and would like to unlock my phone. I have read about using the dialer to unlock the phone. But it only works on 4.1.1 and my phone is 4.1.2 so I was thinking of dual booting my phone with my current stock rom and a stock 4.1.1 and then unlocking it. I was wondering if this would work.
I have another question is there a way to tell if my bootloader is unlocked. I've researched this and eople say of the Samsung logo stays for more than a second its locked. I have also read people saying only the verzion one is locked. When my phone boots I get the siyah logo then the 3 UK boot animation then the Samsung logo glowing for about 3 secs.
I am grateful for any help. Thanks in advance.

Price of unlocking via the play store us cheaper than a replacement motherboard so do test your EMMC for sds as per the "sudden death - are you covered?" Thread in general. At least make sure you're fully aware of the risks before flashing 4.1.1

Use this file to unlock your phone. Busybox enables the app to unlock your phone it is used by many apps. Have you actually installed Busybox or just downloaded the app.

Hi all I'm a new member here so please excuse me if there is a fix in the forums that I didn't find.
I own a nexus 4 and I rooted it using an application but didn't unlock the bootloaders. The root checker says it's rooted and I have supersu access but when I boy it I don't see the lock under the Google logo. So I Wanted to try the xperia z feeling so I flashed a ROM of it. When it booted I noticed nothing changed except an xperia launcher. note when android 4.3 came out I didn't get the ota updated so I suspected it's because of the ROM and I want to go back to stock android and I'm not able to do it. I lost my backup while trying to upload it to drop box. Please help me
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
You probably used a tool kit for root is my guess and those same toolkits can bring you back to stock if this is what you desire.
I guess I'm not fully clear on what your after but when changing ROMs just boot to recovery, wipe ALL, then flash ROM and whatever else needed (gapps kernel etc)
I suspect you didn't do a full wipe when flashing your new ROM.
If I didn't answer your question fully just let me know

Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I don't won't to sound rude but I feel you have a lot of reading to do before you mod your phone. The only way you can loose your imei is with great neglect.
Also learning at least the basics to adb should be the first thing you do before you root your phone.
Again, not trying to be rude here, but if you don't do some research, at least the minimum like read all the stickies in your phone section, you have a real high chance of running your 350$ phone.

No offense taken. I know that I'm not that Good in android but I did own a Motorola defy and I rooted it easily and used alot of Roms on it it was a mistake to not unlock the bootloaders. and the imei issue happened to my friend and we both wondered why it happened. I really appreciate you helping me. And o really want to get my phone back to stock. I thought about using warranty but I'm in Jordan so I can't I have to do everything by myself.

At this point if you want stock your next step will be to make sure adb is working, open a terminal/cmd and type

If you see yours there then you can move on, if not need to debug a bit

I just rooted my S4 successfully! Thank you!
After, the instructions suggested running option 2 (Prep For Recovery). I selected it and the screen said THIS STEP WILL REMOVE SOME ITEMS THAT COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS AFTER RECOVERYINSTALL, PRESS ENTER TO RETURN TO THE MAIN MENU, Press any key to continue. . .
It is now stuck on that screen and has been for 30 minutes. That screen no longer replies to key presses. Should I do anything? Is it done?
Also, how do I 'resolve' the S4 update nag on my phone? Can I get rid of it for good?
Is this a viable solution for the update? Should I rename the update instead so the phone can't find it?

You can open the script in in and xml or text editor and see what files its actually checking at that point. From a quick glance, it look like it mounts the system partition r/w and removes a bunch of KNOX related stuff and removes script that the ota would have use to install recovery. Did you update the su binaries?
