I recently installed 64gig extSdCard. I have downloaded items to it (roms etc) I have checked to see if they a "really there" which they are. Problem is twrp doesn't show them for me to flash when I go into recovery
Thoughts....?

I just recently went through an issue with my sd card, even buying a new one. Ultimately what fixed it was a simple 'fix permissions' in TWRP. Don't wait until you have to go to CWM for 4.4, though. CWM took the fix permissions option out of their arsenal. Since you've got TWRP, would you try it, please and report back? I am at odds as to if it was what ultimately worked although that's what the evidence says.

Do you have the latest version of twrp?
Sorry, worth a shot.
The only other thing I got is (if you haven't already) format the card in the phone, try a new card, verify the files are correct format.
Other than that, try back to stock, reroot start totally fresh. Clean card and all.

I installed pre beta 3 and then rom manager said I need to insert an sd card. I have one in so I partitioned it and that fixed it. Then I downloaded and installed gapps using cwn recovery. 4.0.1.4 I think. After that there was nothing new in my app drawer. Am I being stupid idk exactly how everything works yet. Would gapps give me market because that's all I really need.

Go to bootloader then recovery find install zip from SD card go into clockworkmod folder find the zip file for gapps which if I'm correct its called go inside me" or something similar and flash it that way. Sometimes when I'm installing roms for reviews that's how I have to do it

I first noticed that when I went to take pictures that a toast message would popup that said something along the lines of "Unable to save file to sdcard due to insufficient file privaleges". Originally I thought it was the Rom at fault which I will leave nameless beings that its occoring with every Rom I've flashed since as well. But only after switching between the 3 Roma I had saved on my sdcard prior to this incident, I tried to download a newer Rom to see if it was a bug that had been fixed but couldn't download anything to my sdcard. The only time I can download is through the market or via adb push so I know the internal storage isn't broken, but not recieving the correct permissions.
Has anyone else experienced this or have a fix because I don't want to bring the phone back "re-locked" and ask for a replacement. But I also do not want to buy a new phone or go through asurion. Thanks in advance and happy hollidays!

Backup everything from your storage. Go into recovery and format /sdcard. I had the same thing happen. Worked fine after the format and restoring the files.
I'm getting ready to head home so ill do it when I get there. Should I format it in cwmr recovery or through settings just so I make sure I do it the way you did it. Less room for error lol. And thanks a lot I'm really hoping that it helps! I miss having the camera mostly for taking pictures of my 14 month old Son Hambo!

So in my flashing craziness I forgot to use the sd downgrade when I went from an AOSP rom back to a 4.1.2 rom. Definitely a noob mistake that I will never make again.
Now my internal SD seems extremely cluttered with a 0 folder similar to the main one.
Is there a simple way to clean this up?
FWIW I did flash the new Beans 18 build then flash the downgrade earlier today, however I am currently on a restored backup of Beans 17.
I have considered flashing back to stock and then rooting again to make it all clean, but that won't take care of the unused and duplicate folders in my internal storage...right?!
Yes I am new here so please be kind! I spend a ton of time teaching myself and learning about rooting and customizing, but this is one thing I wanted a definite answer to before I end up deleting a crucial file or folder.

Easiest way would be to use a file explorer and copy/paste anything from /0 you want to keep over to the correct sdcard location. Then you can just delete the /0 folder.
Thanks for taking the time to answer. I was able to delete all but 2 sub folders under 0...the download and jelly beans folder refuse to delete. Not sure what that's about but at least I now have my internal in better shape!

I haven't used ES in a long long long time. If it will allow you full R/W privileges like Root Explorer you should be able to do it but I honestly don't know about ES because I use Root Explorer. Maybe the post about boring into recovery would work.

^ This is the way to go. Just get rid of everything and start over. Although make sure to have the rom on your external sd so after you wipe internal you have the rom to flash. I do it when I get bored and want to clear out old app folders

If I needed to clear the internal, I would remove important files and then do an internal storage wipe on a clean Rom from twrp.
Current device:
Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Retired devices:
Huawei Ascend, Droid Charge, Droid Bionic
I used this wipe application called Zoot's wipe script, it has the Aroma wipe installer in it. This has several wiping variations but the big wipe is the Mega Wipe. Make sure you transfer all your important files to your external sd card because this Mega Wipe will wipe your internal memory clean to where you have 10gb free again. (For me on Verizon we only can get the 16gb gnote2, so after Touch Wiz sucks up the memory it needs you only have about 10gb free) Download this zip file and when you flash into recovery, I use TWRP, this can be used on Clock work too. flash this zip file and select Mega to clean out your internal sd. Super Wipe can be used to flash different roms too.

CWM and was wiping everything via cwm and still all of the folders reappear! do i need to use TWRP???
Guys I made a dumb mistake. After trying to install Pinky and the Brain rom coming from another rom, I wiped my internal sd card. Well I downloaded the pinky and the brain rom and put it on an external sd card. the rom shows when I go to install but it shows all the folders, but it doesn't see the rom.zip file. I don't think this is something I have to flash with odin and Casual is out of the question since im rooted, unlocked, and on a custom rom. I am currently have TWRP. do I have to manipulate the pinky and the brain rom. Im sure im missing a step. I don't want to odin back to a stock rom then using casual to get back. is there an easier way.
I use my droid as my main internet source. Now im stuck with a POS sony Erickson experia just to have a working phone and im connecting via 3g..sucks for me lol..seriously what am I doing wrong that my phone is not showing the zip file to install via TWRP.
Again I have no rom on the phone at this point...just to be clear

Bad idea. ALWAYS nandroid. Download a rom on your comp and use a card reader to transfer it to SD. Then flash it. Idk what else you can do other wise.

Seems you still have access to TWRP correct?
I would then load into it, under advanced, go to sideload. Connect it to a computer with a functioning adb and sideload the zip of the rom you want to flash over.
teamw.in /ADBSideload (that's a URL, I can't put them in posts yet, too new)
I have saved a phone in a similar situation this exact way.
Hope this helps.
I do still have twrp...I'm gonna try to download Scotts rom and put it on sd card and hopefully twrp will see the zip

Ok, so here it is: tried CM11 and decided it was a little too buggy for me. Went into recovery and did a factory reset a couple times and also SYSTEM, CACHE, and DALVIK. From there i restored my Odex Blue backup w/o incident.
However, i noticed that Swiftkey suddenly said it couldnt d/l the language pack. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Nothing. Google searched the problem and read numerous posts. Cant figure it out.
I then wanted to test another app that needs to download data. My weather/clock app has the same problem. Wont d/l any new skins. My alternate app market same issue... D/L will start but will never get past 0%.
This is clearly relates to resoring TW after flashing CM11. There must be a step i missed or something.
What would happen if i went into TWRP and chose to FORMAT DATA (clears internal data) and then attempted to restore my Odexed blue backup? I have the feeling that we are bot supposed to wipe internal data but i have no idea how to sort out this problem

It's the symlinks that point to your internal storage that b need to be restored. You can use ADB command lines to reconnect those, or take a more drastic measure that will get you to where you want.
I'll paste the options of which I'm aware momentarily...
--------Begin guidance from @freeza, posted over the weekend in his stock rooted MJ4 thread---------
" please try these commands in adb or terminal emulator... make a backup of your internal storage just to be safe.
chown -R media_rw:media_rw /data/media/
find /data/media/ -type d -exec chmod 775 {} ';'
find /data/media/ -type f -exec chmod 664 {} ';'
PS: I'd run these in recovery... "
--------End comments from freeza------
--------Begin alternative method, provided to me by a forum member uncomfortable with ADB and reporting it working-----
"What I did was just wipe everything and started from scratch and everything seems to be normal again..."
---------End comments if not using ADB----
My guess is the latter method was a wipe of everything from within TWRP.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.

See above. You can do it without ADB and still be up-and-running, though it's a bit more work on the backend.
If going the command line route, you'd have your phone in recovery, be running the latest version of Android SDK and Eclipse, and running from the subdirectory of where the Android SDK is installed labeled "platform tools." You'll need to run them from a command prompt within Windows, and be at that directory from within the command window.

I'm sorry bro, I haven't done either, though I suspect it's one of the wipe options from within TWRP. If you copy a TWRP backup to your external storage, you will likely be able to put it back after the wipe. Nothing is ever gone if you reset the pointers to your storage.
Let me try to get you some assistance; I believe @Goddly can provide guidance.
OK, here's your update (not from Goddly), you should restore nothing from a prior backup from a previous TouchWiz rom if you have gone from CM11 to TW4.3. I believe it's square one for ya (either Odin or Mobile Odin tar file flash). Just advice from two whom would know.
Or...if you did flash the Skunk Ape1 rom, reinstalled TWRP and re-rooted, you should be able to flash a new TouchWiz rom and could try to restore a prior backup. I don't see why that wouldn't work. I still think starting over is your best call.
Edit: Here are the steps that make the most sense to me if you don't use ADB and are having issues with a TW 4.3 ROM after flashing an AOSP 4.4.2 build:
1. Flash Full Stock (no root or recovery) ROM of MJ4, tar file flashed from Mobile Odin or Odin (tar can be found here)
2. Inject root using Chainfire method using tar.md5 file here,
3. Install TWRP 2.6.3.7, tar.md5 file here, IMG file here,
4. Flash your heart out

Man, you are thorough! Thanks so much for your time once again! I used skunks file in traditional Odin. When that was done I did a Factory Reset. Then I went back to Odin to flash TWRP recovery. Finally, I restored my good ole SS Odexed. Definitely not worth the hassle IMO. You really can't beat a stock based rom IMO.
