Sound Mods for Sense & AOSP | Updated 11-29-2013 - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

Here's a little something I put together with the help of fellow member Rootlinux. It's a flashable zip file of AOSP sounds. I have tested this on Sharkie's 2.5.1-beta (software version 3.17) and Android 4.3 Sense 5 and 5.5 and it works fine, and should work fine with any ROM for the EVO LTE so long as the file structure remains the same. As always, make a backup before flashing. The updater script will wipe out the notifications, ringtones, and alarm folders under system/media/audio (this will prevent from having duplicate notification sounds). The second link contains a zip with both AOSP and Sense sounds, for those users looking to keep both. The third link is a flashable zip of Sense 5 sounds. Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Nice job Fin and welcome to the Green Team lol

Thanks bro. Why don't you give one of these mods a try on your EVO LTE?

Nice I usually do this stuff before I flash a rom. Like on my R16 Sense 5 by capt. I did some kitchen work and added these sounds before I flashed.

Yep, definitely like AOSP sounds over Sense. Personal preference, I guess

Are you wanting to know what the stock sound is for each of the notifications you've listed?
Default notification: Sense

Calendar: Daybook
Mail: Hint
Tasks: Notice
This was from SharkieROM, but should be the same for stock.

That is perfect for if I go back. Thank you. Does anybody know for AOSP? Everything was set to Adara after I flashed this.

Couldn't tell you since I don't have an AOSP ROM to flash and look. I don't keep my settings stock on either AOSP or Sense.

I've noticed that it changes from rom to rom. It depends on the dev, I guess.
But some common sounds are Hojut (probably got that one wrong...) , Proxima, Tejat...

MeanROM
MeanROM comes with Google Now already installed so if you don't want to mess with flashing other zips that's the obvious choice. Just wanted to let you know though that it can be flash on any ROM. Simply follow the instructions here. Make sure you download mikey's v6
Another vote for MeanRom. The Google Now integration is seamless.

I'm running Rejuvenated Stock 2.2 currently, and it has a very functional Google Now. I don't know if it's as current as the one in MeanROM 3.0, but it's been great so far.

As soon as CM10 (or CMX) is fully functional, I'll be all over it. I've tried a couple of the builds, and it's progressing very nicely. Deck & toast are doing an amazing job with it. For me, it's pretty much a camcorder away from being a daily.
There is no on/off button for LTE like there was for WiMAX. It's always on unless you go into wireless settings and turn it off.

Am I the only one who's not a big fan of google now? It bothers me how scrolling through search results is slower than on the standard google search app (i.e. the screen doesn't continue scrolling for a bit after you take your finger off). I also find that sometimes tapping on links for sub results doesn't work...the link is highlighted briefly but the page never loads. Is anyone else having problems with that? I'm using Clean Rom at the moment but I've noticed the same things on Mean.
Is it possible to revert back to the stock google search? Is there an apk I can replace or is google now embedded in the ROM?

There is a way to go back but voice search doesn't work at the moment. It's in the bottom of this post under 'back to stock'.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29756226
You can turn googlenow off in settings if you still want voice search to work until the 'back to stock' is fixed. cajunflavoredbob is working on the fix.

[APP][MOD]Sense 4.5 Camera Mod

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867966
I take no credit for this, as I did not make this.
This is a modified Sense 4.5 Camera app, for the HTC One X. Works as it should on my EVO 4G LTE. Has a bunch of great mods including force bitrates for video and audio, expanded camera tweak control, continuous autofocus etc.
**NOTE** Camera button does NOT work in this app, as the One X does not have a camera button. Surely it shouldn't be too hard for some epic dev to add in though.
This works great thanks!

Press the settings button and scroll down to miscellaneous. There you can "hook" the volume buttons which maps the volume up button to video recording and the volume down button for camera shots!

The updater script is checking the build.prop for "endeavor" which is the codename for the HOX. Throw this apk into a blank flashable zip file that checks for "jewel" and you'll be all set.
Here, I've attached the zip I'm using. Works like a champ.
I'm going to assume you need to be on a sense based on ROM to flash this?

Find a zip that you can flash in recovery. Change the name it checks for in build.prop to "jewel" (name of the LTE) and drop in the apk into the /system/app folder

I dont know about this sense 4.5 camera...I love all the options but everything kind of seems blurry and video looks kind of grainy.
Just did some video tests in low light that I always run when messing with new cameras..
Every video in low light in my office previous to this update has always averaged 29FPS
The same exact conditions with the sense 4.5 camera give me 18-22FPS.
Going to revert back to original camera and see if it isnt the new rom im running.

Okay, so I know it's an issue with the latest update from HTC, but has anyone found a workaround for the custom ringtones issue? I haven't seen anyone talking about it, so I'm wondering if I missed some magical fix. lol

Almost no one has taken this OTA because no one wants to be the one who lost S-OFF/Ability to S-OFF and has to tell everyone else about it. There are one or two people in the General section who are pure stock, you'll probably find answers there.

If you DL the ROM and follow the file paths and either create same file paths on your SD, or put the individual files in the correct locations in root directory (/system) then they will shoe in regular selection box and seem like they're supposed to be there

Simply unzip to your sd card (internal memory). Usually, the phone recognizes the folder because of the default names (notifications, alarms, etc.), and the sound files will show on your default list, instead of you needing to navigate to their location.
Attached is the Sense 5 font if you want to check it out, and the Roboto Slim font if you want to change it back. But it is to be flashed in recovery, so if you aren't rooted, then this isn't for you.
Thank the man
