4.4 to Support "Ok google" from Homescreen? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Will stock 4.4 on HTC One support "Ok google" from homescreen like Nexus 5 and Moto X? Thanks.

That only works if you are using the Google Experience Launcher or a custom ROM modified to work like that
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

Did you mean if 4.4 with sense supported it? I hope so

Yea- when we get 4.4 (using tmobile version), can I just say "ok google now" from homescreen without unlocking device (like Moto X)?

Yes but only from the homscreen. Not while locked, moto x has its own low power processor core that does that, the HTC One and most of the flagships don't have that technology. You could do it with an app but the drain would be horrendous as you would have to run your HTC One on all the time but only with the screen off.

Turning off 4G?

I was wondering 4G sometimes likes to not work sometimes. And I wanted to know if there was a way to turn ON 3G.
I am on a rooted Ics on the 214 kernel.

I know it works on stock ICS- no experience with Roms yet, though.
Some say you can download the Thunderbolt's 4G toggle app and that works fine.
Others, who want a native solution, dial *#*#4636#*#* which brings up some phone 'Testing' screen - click Phone Information - about halfway down that screen, change lte/cdma/evdo to cdma auto (prl)..
That's what I was told to do and have changed it back and forth with no I'll effects (that I can notice anyway haha)..
Hope this helps..

If you download LTE OnOFF (click here to go to Play Store) you can get to the screen without using the dialer combination
You can enter the number into a phone contact and then add a quick dial widget to the home screen.
Works just the same for those who don't want to go 3rd party if they don't have to.

[Q] Alarm/Clock problem

I have a strange problem with my smartphone.
The clock does not update until I "woke" the screen as unlocking for example.
It is 11:09PM. I'm locking the screen.
It is 01:00AM. I'm unlocking the screen. I see for a second 11:09PM and then it changes to 01:00AM
The problem there is for the Alarm. It won't ringing because of the clock. Even the application Alarm Clock Plus has the same problem.
Here is the specs :
Samsung Galaxy s3 International
ARHD 13.0
Perseus Kernel (the lastest)
I use clocksync on my HTC, and keep it updating every 30 minutes... don't know if this will drain you battery, but you'll need root for it.
Sent from my HTC ChaCha with CM9 using XDA app.
This app use Internet right ? So yes it will drain battery .
I change the ROM and I use WanamLite for the moment in order to see if it's kernel/ROM problem.
Yeah, it uses internet... but it doesn't really drain on my phone...

Bluetooth issue

Hi everybody.
I have paired many smartphones with my car. Samsung Galaxy S, S Plus, iPhone 4, etc...
With my Desire X, it works, but the car display can´t read contacts on the phone. I´ve tried with stock rom (Vodafone branded) and with a new custom rom (Half Sense). I´ve got the same problem. I´ve experienced 2 weird issues:
1) The first time I paired the device (with stock rom), the contact list appeared. Once I left the car and returned, no more contacts (No entries).
2) If you search through the call list, you can actually see contact names instead of numbers! But when someone is calling you, the phone number is displayed (no name).
Music and data through bluetooth is working properly.
Any clue?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. As I can´t post in developers forums, I would like to suggest to MarteenXDA about his rom (Half Sense), which works great by the way.
1) Some kind of quick setting in the status bar.
2) Gallery is not working properly (many FC).
3) Please, add GTalk & Swype in v 0.8
In half sense, if you pull down the notification bar and click the carrier's name, you get quick settings...

Swype is included too, with the android 4.2 keyboard. Gallery works fine with me.

Swype Beta is much better than Android 4.2 keyboard with gesture typing. More precise and better looks.
Anyway, we can always install it later. So far, your rom is great. Good work and thanks.
P.S. any clue about bluetooth issue? (with every rom in this device)

How do you mean bluetooth issue?
I use bluetooth speakers in my living room all the time, works great.
I won't add swype, it's a paid app and I like to keep it without any market apps.

Knock on feature, anyone?

Hi everyone,
I used LG2 for quiet some times. I found that the knock on feature is very handy. Anyone could found any app that resemble that?
You've posted in the wrong section, but the only one I could find (I only searched for two minutes) was the whole G2 launcher that includes the knock on feature. It looks like it works on most phones, but you're also forced to use the ugliest and worst launcher in the world.
You must be rooted and you can download it here:

So.. Does that mean that the feature is not a low level one? Meaning we can program it on top level?

I just tried that, by pushing apps with right permissions in system/app, but it doesn't work.
I don't know if there's a switch to turn that on or off, but as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't work at all, it's just a simple launcher with no functions at all...
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk 2
Double tap to wake is a function of the kernel. It has been around long before the G2 in custom kernels (i.e. HTC One with Bulletproof kernel). It is on the Z tablet and a shame Sony did not bring it to the Z Ultra.

I just use Screen Off app from the Playstore. Why should I double tap if I can just single tap it's app icon to make the screen sleep and lock?! To wake it is another thing though. I tested some kernel back then with my SG Note II that do that (touch screen to wake) but it was buggy!
So, it would be if we could find this feature in Google Play (with or without root). I am willing to donate for this feature. Especially the phone is big, would be nice if we can turn on the screen without having to pick up the phone from the table.

There are at least 10 options to turn the screen off, and only half of them require root.
The cool thing to do would be turning the screen ON, or better yet, having the possibility to turn it on and off with two taps on the screen.
If you ever try an LG G2 you will know why that would be cool.
I personally use GMD gesture and turn the screen off pinching three fingers, that's really showing off with all my colleagues and friends...

Well after using this device, a double tap gesture is not that required and maybe introducing additional issue considering its size and weight distribution in the hand. Plus with the flip case it comes with, turn off and on based on proximity sensor is the more elegant way to run this beast. I made my self a tasker script for that and i love it all the more

You know, I really don't seem to get the grip of Tasker. I install it once in a while, try something, nothing ever works, I give up and uninstall it.
I would really like a full guide on this neat program.
I bet you could even make a task for waking up/putting to sleep the phone by a tap on the SmartWatch 2 (a user made a Tasker extension for it here on XDA)...

Well you don't have to use tasker, plenty of alternative method to do proximity on/off.. but well i might write a simple tutorial for tasker if i have time.

Just search for "wave2wake" in the PlayStore app...
Works for me, but it's way too sensitive. And sometimes it just won't notice when I wave.
I say it definitely needs more development, but seeing that since I installed it (yesterday) it already received an update, I also say we're in good hands.

Thanks for this. Tried it and it works. But I went for Every Cover as I'm using a flip cover and it'll be good to make the screen on/off when i close/open it.

I always asked myself if GRam works with AOSP or not. However From my experience with AOSP roms this past week, I can insure you that it does indeed work! I am amazed by the battery life! Yesterday I got 1.5 days (around 36hrs with 6hrs screen onn i could never do that on stock).
See my current usage now. Attached screenshots.
Edit: for some reason i cannot attach a single screenshot, that is after 11.5hrs on battery.

I read that it's only available on LG Roms but that was just here in the forum, so maybe not the most reliable source. I didn't try aosp yet, but the battery life I get with the Stock Rom is just insane:

Nice battery life! I never went above 4 or 5 hrs screen on stock!
Ok I can see you are running G2 xposed module and you running probably on 400dpi or even less.
Any other things you disabled? Knock on? Smart stay? Location?
Would you please elaborate your settings and usage. Also what is your rom and kernel?
Thx!

As for me, QuickRemote and LG Camera are the only stock features I use.. On AOKP 4.3. Screw that fugly stock rom.

I'm running on stock rom and stock kernel. I have disabled locations for google apps, all other apps including wheather are able to check for locations. I have sync enabled for gmail, facebook, wheather, whatsapp and exchange. As you can see I was on wifi most of the time and a few hours on 2G/3G/H. You are right with that xposed stuff! Currently running at 380dpi. My screen brighness is on auto with a preset of 50%. My usage behaviour is moderate and includes checking facebook, whatsapp, emails and xda app. I also do much browsing and a few benchmarks and camera shots. I don't play games that much. Personally I think that disabling NFC, GPS and bluetooth saves you a lot of battery. Smart Stay is also disabled because I don't really need that and it's keeping the sensors awake all the time. I should also mention that I have a flip cover with Quick Window enabled. I hope this helps you a little bit. Most of the battery drain is caused by unneccesary wakelocks.I can recommend to check these wakelocks with an app called 'wakelock detector'. As you can see, in my case there is only 1% of wakelocks, where others have 10-20% and this is what's causing the high battery drain. It's all about optimisation! If you have further questions please feel free to ask (but rather in the battery thread cause this might become a bit off topic).

Aptx, gram, quick remote, wireless storage, legit knock on. Ohh yeah, stability.
I used to use clip tray. Loved it. Missing from aosp roms though.
knock on, quick reply, smart screen, quick remote..
until proper replacement app is found, no AOSP for me.
