PROBLEM SOLVED.
TO CHECK WHETHER YOUR DEVICE IS I9300 or SHV-E210L:
1. Open the messaging application and check if the messaging has an 80-character limit.
2. Open Settings - About Phone and click Status and check Device Status (if its SHV-E210 it'll say Custom in device status)
3. Check if RAM is 1GB or 2GB. If 1GB then its I9300. If 2GB then SHV-E210.
4. Switch on Mobile Data (2G only) and if GPRS comes then its SHV-E210, if EDGE is activated then its GT-I9300.
5. Lastly boot into download mode and check the Model Status.
Model is under the battery .
Also settings about phone details .
2GB RAM not I9300 .
its a i9305 if it has 2 gig ram O.O

Very strange. I checked under the battery and it says I9300 over there as well... how is that even possible?

It can't be I9305, I9305 has an LTE antenna at the top. This doesn't.

I just did a factory reset and everything is still the same, except the Device Status shows 'Custom' in the About Phone menu.

See what is written on the product code first. If you flash a stock firmware that is not compatible with your phone you may just brick your device.

Thank you so much for the help man! I booted into download mode and the download mode is written in Korean.
Also, the device there says: SHV-E210L
System Status: Custom
Thanks again for reminding me I could check through Download mode.
Best part is that the Android 4.3 update for the E210L has been released

Sorry lol, that was a typo.
SHV-E120L: Galaxy S II HD LTE (A friend of mine has this phone)
SHV-E210K/L/S: All Korean variants of the Galaxy S III. They all look exactly like the normal I9300 S III except they have 2GB RAM.
Thanks for all your help man!

ur phone will only brick if u use any rom/kernel meant for I9100G since it has a diff hardware altogether
u have to look for ROM/KERNELS meant for I9100(international version or its variants like M/P/T etc)
never try anything meant for I9100G on ur phone
Yep ofc it will break it

Its either a fake or if real you need to change the firmware .
Note changing the firmware for China models is as i understand it not the same as flashing a stock rom .

Hi everyone.
I know it is very silly question but i am very confused.
I bought a S3 with 2GB RAM and LTE. I am not sure that it is i9305 or SHV210s.
SHV210s variant has an antenna but my cell does not have it, so i thought it is i9305 but when i go to download mode (using volume down+home+power keys) it shows its model as SHV210s.
how can i be sure about my cell's variant because i want to install custom ROM on it???

You should post it in I9305 thread.
Anyway, check the sticker beneath the battery + settings->about phone -> model number
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
i think sticker is fake because it says i9300.
stock or custom rom of i9300 was installed in it when i purchased,
in settings->about phone -> model number was also showing as i9300,
then i installed stock rom of shv210s (stock rom of i9300 and i9305 was failed to install) ,now it is showing shv210s.

if there is any method to install custom ROM without knowing model/firmware, then please suggest me.

No of course not wrong rom can totally brick your phone with no recovery .
You should revert to stock firmware and read the faqs and guides before any custom roms before your ignorance gives you a phone that requires a new motherboard .

stock rom of sgh210s (installed on my cell) is annoying. too much unusable apps. most annoying thing is that it limits sms to only 160 alphabits/digits, when it exceeds sms is converted to MMS. is there any solution of this?

Settings, about, somewhere in one of those options is the updater.
If that doesn't work try this, remember always backup first as this way can/might reset your phone

It does not matter if you have cancelled it or not as you are doing a manual update check.

In the about phone section can you tell me what version of android you have and it will also be followed by something like this UGMK7 etc
Edit: you need to match up your pda,csc and modem version to one on this site. If it matches the top on you do indeed have the latest.
