Hey guys, hopefully posting this in the right sub-forums here. I have 2 Droid Incredibles that I want to use just for stuff like running the Sirius player, maybe browsing the 'net. I leave one of these hooked to the stereo in the living room all of the time, and it's the only thing I use it for, so Maybe a few things later on. The main thing is that I need none of the phone services. I don't need a dialer, a contacts manager, etc. I'd love something that booted super fast and ran very smoothly and didn't have all of the extra BS. Is there a ROM like this out there/. I'd love it if it were a Cyanogen version, only because I am partial to that one, but I'm willing to play with anything, just to see if it works.
On a side note, I continually tell my friends to keep their old Droid phones(Or send them to me) for exactly this reason. I don't think that 95% of the population realizes just how cool these devices can be!
Any help would be great. I appreciate it, and for the mods, feel free to move this if I posted it in the wrong spot.

1st off I have looked through the forums and none that are active projects come near this to my knowledge, so if I missed it, I preemptivly apologize.
So I have been oogling this for months since I watched Iron Man 2 back in november and have been messing around with app developer and theme creators to try and make a few variations of this thing work.
This is my first post so it won't let me post a picture of what im talking about.
So.... if you head to concept-phones.com and search for "iron man". You will see what I mean.
Now Im not looking for the point and click and take over a monitor thing (though that would be awesome) im looking for the sleek design of the graphics rendered.
At first i thought it would be for the normal apps, not very practical with a screen like the droid 2 has, maybe for the xoom, but not the D2Global.
Then I thought maybe just a file manager with a sleek look.
I have tried many variations and it makes me go crazy. Then my upstairs neighbor flooded thier apt and fried my computer, so all my work is now gone.
So I ask for help. Seasoned programmers of themes can you help me with ideas/an app that took 10 minutes for you to make that makes me feel both happy and emasculated. I am happy to answer any questions and my aim SN is on my profile. I also answer emails often.
Thanks

Hey there, I'm pretty new here. (first post ) And I got a few questions about the Galaxy S II.
So I'm thinking about getting one, or actually I am deciding between this or the iPhone 4.
Well I know the Galaxy S II beats the iPhone 4 in nearly every point, except for resolution of the display, but i think its good enough.
I currently am an iPhone user, and I do love all Apple Stuff, call me fanboy.. BUT! I think I'm not dumb
I dont want to be blind and go out and just buy an iPhone, because I know there are better phones out there. Well the iPhone 4 came last year and all this stuff is developing pretty fast, but nevertheless I do like the iPhone. So my decision will be made after I got to know, what I didn't get about the Galaxy S II.
1. When the phone is locked, and you press the Home Button, does this really, completely unlock the phone, without the need to do an unlock, like sliding the picture away, or doing some gestures? I saw this in a review, and thought, this is not good
2. Some users here in the forums were posting things like, their phones getting hot, or that its lagging while browsing through the homescreens sometimes.. and i was like: ?! how can such a beast of phone even think about lagging?!^^^'
So have you had problems using it, like overheating or lagging?
3. I really do like the iPhone's taskswitcher. And I think that the one coming with touchwiz is the only one (as far as i know) that does something similar..
So can you access the taskswitcher in EVERY app by longpressing the home button?
4. I actually do like, that every app must be confirmed by apple before entering the app store. so there are no apps that crash or stuff like that.. i know that most android fans love that android is an open platform. but when i'm reading reviews of apps in the marketplace, most stuff i read is: bad, forces restart, crashes... stuff like that.. most of all the facebook app, this would be something i really need, but i don't want it to be buggy and crashing all the time..
I can't belief, that Android is getting so famous when the apps are as bad as they are said to be in the market...
So are the apps you are using reliable? Or do they crash and stuff..?
I don't want to be offensive or what, but i won't get this on contract. I'll have to pay something like 600€ for it and i dont want to do this if i'm not 100% sure.
Thanks
Sorry for so much text

Not until its customised in the future its swipe to unlock screen .

No lag at all

95% reliable and most are updated frequently and MANY ARE FREE
Really its a move from a closed but carefully controlled environment where you do what Apple wants you to do and Flash is bad for you .
To a more open environment where you are far more free and not as tightly controlled .
Plus of Apple is that for many it is tightly locked down a child can use IPhone as its all simple .Thats actually a plus point as well as a negative point .
For me its a simple choice IPhone top class phone but compared to SGS1 dont mind the SGS 2 it is vastly overpriced . I want music in my format not Steve's etc . Apps got all the apps i want and none that i know of from Apple i am missing .So a simple choice but somebody else may well be willing to pay the premium .
Some IPhone user do find it hard to adapt to a different method of working .

Well thanks for the fast answer!
I think i get what you meant with: "Plus of Apple is that for many it is tightly locked down a child can use IPhone as its all simple .Thats actually a plus point as well as a negative point ."
And thats one of the points, that may keep me from buying an iPhone. Because if i get the new iphone theres nothing really new. well its faster and got a better cam but its still the os im using already, which is not bad at all, but its nothing new and its sooooooo easy^^^' nearly boring
Don't want to call me dev, but besides writing apps, i like to get most out of a device, psp, ds, iphone... on iphone there are posiblities but i think android got better ones.
still gotta make up my mind a little, maybe wait what iOS 5 will look like, seriously apple has to catch up a little . SGS 2 launches May 27nd here and iOS 5 Event is on June 6th. Think i'll be able to wait a few days, but probably they wont get to where android is right now.
Good to hear, that theres no lag and apps are not that bad. Actually all the answers are good
thanks alot!
I've started this thread to just get other developers opinions,
I started developing Android applications about 8 months ago with a friend (both of us had no previous experience) and after a shaky start thing picked up. We had some applications that floped and some that slowly picked up.
Heres the problem, Google Play now allow users rate the app in "Helpfulness" which don't sound like such a bad idea but it don't work. Ratings that are at the top are not relevant to the app anymore, there old rating referring to problems with the old version, and whats worse is I can't see them going down. Think about it if they are at the top their getting more coverage people are likely to hit "helpful" because they THINK it's helpful, and why would you go though the comments if you like the app... you wouldn't. So that really favors bad comments. This problem is not just with happening to us it's the same on many apps, I saw one the other day dated from 2010!?! how does that help!?
Anyway I just wanted to get other dev's opinions on this, is it affecting you or am I just missing the point?
Just wondering, but is there a need for dev testing? As in, a need for developers to have a small list of people with a given device that they can send a ROM to, to make sure it boots properly or is willing to run for a day intentionally looking for problems?
I have a Moto Droid, Incredible 2, and the fascinate. First two phones are collecting dust. Meant to be spares. I'm comfortable flashing, and I'm probably one of the few on this forum who regularly uses every smartphone feature extensively. Dozens of texts an hour, MMS, bluetooth (with keyboard), wifi, browsing constantly, usually with the music player running. So when something is broken in a ROM, I almost always find it within a couple hours.
So I'm curious. Is there a need for this in the community? I'm not a developer, but I'm definitely a power user and with these communities being the only reason I fiddle so much with my phone I want to give back. And I love being on the bleeding edge So I'm always available, with the listed phones above and if we find devs actually have a need for this it would be cool in my opinion to collect a list. So, devs if you have a need for testers I would love to hear from you. Also thank you all for the time and dedication you put in to make these phones worth so much more than if they were used as is off the shelf. I greatly appreciate it.
I've been trying to get this device how I wanted it to be ever since I beta tested it, but due to life, law school, and marriage, I have been noticeably absent from the dev community lately. For that I apologize.
As I am concluding my legal studies, I have began revisiting some of my old broken-ish but bootable code from my Lollipop build, and am considering, if enough people are still using this thing, to try and build Nougat.
The chipset is identical to the Galaxy Nexus, as I am sure most people know at this point, and wollac has did one helluva job putting in the work to form a solid base to build upon. Admittedly, this is going to be a moderately-difficult project, bordering on a labor of nostalgia, but if there is enough interest, I will get to work so we can keep using this obsolete bowling ball for another year or two. I still use the KitKat build as an amp and NES emulator.
Let me know what you guys think.

I'm definitely interested, I would love to be able to use my Q with the original LED functionality
+1 on the LED functionality, but I fear that there aren't many in circulation anymore... Mine is gathering dust underneath the TV, a chromecast does its intended functionality much better :/
I just bought one, and I'm not sure how I can even use it at this point. Are you still considering development of something for the q?
I still have mine literally sitting there until something comes along. I would welcome any development on the Q!
I'll echo the others... I have mine sitting the corner of my office, under the printer waiting and hoping for it to be usable one day. I unfortunately bought mine right after they pulled the plug, not know about it so it has never actually worked! I really just hope to be able see the LEDs and stream music to it, even if just through chromecast. I heard it had a great amp and I have some old quality speakers laying around somewhere.
I'm interested as well. I'd love to be able to use it as a chromecast audio, or something similar. Personally, I'd prefer to be able to use it without a display.
does anyone know how to get the Nexus Q software? Got one without the manuals or software
I am interested. What would be the goal though?
There has to be a limited amount of these in existence and it would be neat to be able to use it for something useful.
Is a Chromecast type device reasonable? I'd use it in my office just as a novelty.
I would love something newer than the 4.4 build on this forum currently, and get some use out of this dustcollector. Personally i would like to just get the amp working, any other functionality I really dont care too much about.
Anything Lollipop or better would be great. I use the Google ADT-1 with stock Lollipop and really like it. Works fine for me. Maybe Kit Kat could be OK but I'm not sure.
I am interested. How do I get started?
I'll give this a +1
I still got mine and been thinking what to do with it... any new development i wouldnt mind trying.
I am interested in the restart as well
I have two and would love to use them.
Hi. I interested in Android 7. Youtube and youtube Music still working on Android 7, so i can build media-center on Q with android 6+.
