I was trying to flash a custom rom on my xperia u but i was getting a status 7 error msg. I read on a website that i should flash the boot.img using flashtools. I did so and i was succesful. But the rom was not good so I restored the backup that i made for the stock rom.
Now the problem started, i downloaded another rom and tried to flash it and got the same status 7 error. I thought i should do the same as i did before, so i flashed the boot.img file which i used before and also flashed the .10 kernel. Now my phone is not turning on and stuck on sony logo.
I flashed the previous firmware (which was .100 before installing the new rom) but it didnt work. It fails on "Checking header". I also tried flashing the boot.img through flasthtool in fastboot mode but it failed. Please help!!

Did you flash that firmware before? Could be corrupted file.
You can start repair with PC Companion then when it finish download and ask you to shut down the phone build the FTF file using flashtool.

Maybe bcoz of kernel

status 7 error means u were unable to install rom and this error is because of kernel. From the rom zip file first extract the boot.img file and then flash
it with flashtool and after that install your rom it will definately work :good:
try generic stock
try flashing stock generic .5x flashtool.

First you power off your phone then hold the volume down button then connect to flashtool to flash firmwares
And you need adb drivers installed, find them in the flashtool folder or just download my app (romhub.codeplex.com)

I don't get it. Why exactly can't you flash with flashtool? No PC?
If you can get into flashmode, then flashtool should work just fine.
In most cases, getting stuck on the SE logo means you've got a kernel-ROM mismatch. Flashing the correct kernel should allow the ROM to boot. Mind telling which kernel & ROM you're on?
Sometimes it happens

Hi Everyone,
I am using Xperia Neo. My friend helped me in installing custom ics rom from unlocking bootloader step to installing a custom rom.
Now i tried to install a custom rom, but it didnt work even though i followed the right steps.
Now when i tried to switch to the old rom it gives a status 7 error (similar one to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1805631&highlight=status+7)
From the above thread i got the following steps
Simply flash an official ROM (.ftf) with Flashtool in Flashmode mode;
Flash a correct Kernel (extract it from Cyanogen rom zip, boot.img usually) with Flashtool in Fastboot mode;
Enter recovery CMW;
Perform a full wipe factory reset, and cache wipe nextly;
Finish with applying custom ROM by CWM;
Can someone help me with the first step
Simply flash an official ROM (.ftf) with Flashtool in Flashmode mode;
Is there a thread which has these steps?
Currently I am on a custom kernel and not on the base kernel will that create any problem in doing the first step?
Please help me on this. I am just a beginner.
Thanks in Advance.

Flashing a .ftf in this case implies that you have to flash just the baseband version. u must have flashed the complete firmware. while flashing new baseband you must exclude the kernel. the .ftf file has to be placed in the C:\Flashtool\firmwares directory. also u have not wiped the Dalvik cache.....
Get the ICS Stock rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690
Flash it via Flashtool with stock kernel.
This will flash your phone to Stock rom.
I have installed the latest flash tool and i have also downloaded the Stock Rom.
Now the problem is the device not getting detected, i tried connecting the device to PC while it is in recovery mode and also when it is inside the OS. It is only getting at a point of time when it OS loads and then it again goes undetected.So I am not able to flash the stock rom. I have also installed the ADB drivers from flash tool.
What can I do now? Please help me out...

Maybe u should check first your phone led if there's red light blinking means you are out of battery. Try to charge ur batt. for several hours or just borrow an full charged batt. from ur friend and flash it using flash tool or SUS.

I was willing to flash custom CM 9.1 ROM on my Xperia S so I unlocked the bootloader as per steps everything went well. When I reboot it shows FXP logo and then it is stuck at Xperia logo. While flashing boot.img I believe something broke bootloader that stopped me from booting into original ICS, I then flashed custom ROM using CWM but same result. Initially I couldn't get it into flashmode or fastboot mode. So after lot of tries I gave it to Sony repair center.
Update is that Sony folks tried it with emma tool n they couldn't flash in flash mode. They said it goes in flash mode but leaves n reboot.
Good news is i could get phone in both flash n fastboot. I downloaded official stock ftf rom for my region but it aborts at kernel.sin flashing. i have tried all the combination of settings suggested like exclude TA, no wipe data n logs etc. Nothing works.
I extracted kernel.sin from stock rom n used it all o flash thru fastboot. it is now showing Sony logo but now no os is available to boot.
Few people said it could be damage boot loader or TA n flashing locked boot loader might fix it. my settings are not to allow app from unknown sources so it doesn't work either.
so does anyone know how to fix soft bricked xperia s with above conditions.

If I exclude kernel it fails at fotakernel, and then subsequently at amss_fsg, apps_log, and eventually if we exclude them also at system.sin.
Which I don't believe needs to be excluded from flashing list. Any ideas what is wrong?
Try a different pc

Did you install the 202 FXP ROM? To get it work I had to wipe all after I flashed it otherwise it would be stock on booting... I say you that because I have a similar problem with it on my Xperia U however I didn't have any kind of problem on flashing stock ROM :/

Hi everybody, I've just rooted, installed CWM and flash experience v2.1 and everything worked.
Than I flashed AC!D, wiped, then flashed Cybeshot 4, wiped, then flashed cybershot 5. After that I rebooted and from that moment it is in bootloop. I've already, wiped and reflashed the ROM, but it continues to reboot and a couple of times also the AROMA installer got stuck.
I really need help. What can I do to fix it? I mean, there's no reason why it shouldn't work after the flash, right?
Wipe everything (data system etc etc) then flash some ics kernel.. Then flash official ics .54ftf... This should work:thumbup:

I've got a .10.ftf and a .54.ftf kernels. I've created a zip for each other, then selected install zip form sd card in CWM, but it says installation aborted. Why? What's wrong now?

I cannot flash via flashtool because I can only work in CWM and flashtool doesn't recognize the phone in that modality.
You mean to say flashtool doesn't recognise you're mobile?? In that case.. You are missing some flashtool drivers.. You'll find them in /flashtool/drivers/ whichever folder you've installed flashtool in... After this flashtool should recognise you're device... If it doesn't then try flashing any ics kernel through cwm.. You'll find them in dev thread.. N then flash ics Rom

Remember that I can access only the CWM screen, flashtool can recognize the mobile even in CWM mode?
However, I've already tried to flash the kernel via CWM, but it says installation aborted. I've zipped .10 and .54 kernel in two different zip and renamed them kernel.10.zip and kernel.54.zip.
What's wrong?
EDIT: ok, I've been able to use flashtool. I've flashed .10 kernel, then flashed .54 kernel, then reinstalled experience ROM, wiped and restarted. It continuos to bootloop. Now I try to flash a stock ICS ROM.

Omg in order to use flash tool, just shut down ur phone, and then press the power button and the volume down button. If the led becomes green then u can succesfully use flash tool... Man, do some research first!
And also, get the ftf file by extracting the zip....

Ok, now I've wiped and flashed only MT27_6.1.1.B.1.54_KERNEL.ftf file through flashtool. Restarted the phone and it continuos to bootloop. When the phone says preparing internal storage it restart the phone.
sorry for my noobage. Now I've flashed MT27i_6.1.1.B.1.54_Global.ftf (big file) and flashtool had a problem. It says "err severity=major err code="0009"" err dynamic: block verification failed".
Now the phone continuosly shows screen with "sony".
Now what can I do? Can't even enter in CWM mode.
Ok, I've solved the problem. The last firmware I flashed was for unlocked xperia sola, this is why I had problems. Now I've resolved the softbrick thanks to a guide of doctor_droid.
Now I have to reroot and reinstall CWM, right?
Also thanks to you guys for your patience.
Yes... N after you install cwm.. Please make a back up through cwm for god sake!! happy rooting!! :thumbup:
Another question: the first time that the bootloop started was when I flashed cybershot and ac!d without restarting.
Do you think that the bootloop started because I haven't resarted between the two flashes?
Nothing as such.. May be conflicts between cybershot n acid files!! It's better you restart everytime you flash.. N do wipe cache partition n dalvik
Oh gosh, another funny problem. Got a problem with rooting.
I've flashed .10.tft kernel, then run "runme.bat" (from rootwithrestore) and this time says that there's "old adb" or something like that. However, I manage to conclude the process, but when I reboot I've got black screen. After that I've flashed the .54.tft file and the phone works fine, but there's no SuperSU app. So I suppose it's not rooted.
What's wrong with the runme.bat?
Yep not rooted!! Try again!!
Hi to everyone,
I need to return to ICS because, for my daily use, stock rom is more stable than custom JB. I try to flash the stock ics ftf via flashtool but my phone stucks at sony logo, then i tried with seus and emma but both returns an error message such like "this device mounts an unknow software , istallation wil be stopped". So, what can i do?

You cant do it via SEUS cause your bootloader is unlocked, dont you ever try that.
Try to flash ftf again with Wipe ticked, and with No Final Verification ticked too.
Its very simple......
Just download the ftf file from folllowing link for reclocking bootloader .... flash it using Flashtool........
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1920189
after that just flash the official ICS or u can update using SUS ...............
I did the same with my XPU
:fingers-crossed:
just flash ftf file for downgrading to ics and voila u are good to go... if u cannot flash the ftf file consider redownloading the ftf file... theres a big possibilty that u have gotten a corrupted ftf file
