[Q] Few questions - Nokia Lumia 920

Hello, im kinda new on windows phone os so just want to know some things.
1) When I open camera app, the phone makes a "click" sound. It seems its from hardware since volume was 0 but as soon you press on camera you can hear that "click" sound. Does not happen on FFC only when you switch to the main camera you can hear "click". Is that normal ?
2) Is there a way to turn off vibration on those 3 buttons (back, home and search button) ?

1. i forgot main camera app long time ago and use Pro Cam (now Nokia Camera)... dont have click sound
2. no...

so with a pre installed camera app it "clicks" and with others dont ? I though that "click" sound or whatever its called is due to lences being focused. Also heared some models have that sound and some dont. Maybe even due to firmware.

[Q] Need to disable "Mute, On hold & Speaker" button during a call

PLEASE HELP!
I always have a problem with my phone X10i when i make some calls.
The problem is I pressed mute, speaker, END or on hold button (some of them) by accident (Pressed by my ear).
I checked my phone sensor already and it works fine. May be it happened from the way I held my phone.
But I just want to know how to get a rid of all those buttons from the screen during a call.
Is there anyway I can use some apps to hide all these buttons?
I believe that phone screen is built in the Rom. Thats probably modifying the Roms phone screen. You could probably do it if u know how to modify roms. I dont. I just mod phones with new firmware from xda.
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.2 rendeiro2005 cyanogen rom 6.1.3 gingerbread v1
Use to happen to me frequently,I enabled the proximity sensor and use left hand mode now. That solved it for me
U can use shakeawake tool. It works pretty fine. It has a cheek guard feature which detects when your face is touching the screen
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
will try that with the left hand mode, sounds promising ^^
i hate it, one cannot have a call for more than 5minutes without pressing sthg. -.-
and most annoying my ear LOVES the End button ^^

Same here. I do put the calls on hold very often. :-(
I do this on my G2X all the time. My proximity sensor seems to be working properly. I just went to Settings > Call settings > Always Use Proximity and checked it. Apparently orientation always trumps proximity so we will see if this fixes my issue.
Problem SOlved
ON my HTC One I downloaded Call Screen Lock and I have enabled long press to unlock feature, I also enabled HTC One feature Power button ends call,
I often wonder how is HTC surviving without a law suit from someone with a ear damage. I had soo many times speaker suddenly shouting in my ear. Almost did hit the phone with anger onto the wall.
is there any app that disable the Mute hardkey shortcut (vol up + power) on Android? I accidentally hit it all the time when using volume buttons eg. screenshot

You should check the camera settings to see if you can turn it off. Otherwise you have to put it into silent mode.
ICS camera can be found in custom ROMS such as CM9 you can't just simply install the ICS camera apk.
Hope that helps.
That helps thanks, I had the same query.
thanks for the ics camera, but the problem for my shutter sound is i cant find any button to shut it in the settings and in slient mode it still has the shutter sound.

If you go to settings and volume --> Set 'Ringtone' volume all the way down.
It controls how loud your camera sounds.
It's supposed to go down automatically when you put it into silent mode.
it didnt work cus when i go to the settings, the ringtone volume is already the lowest, but the shutter sound is stil here
one more question, cus i used a back up, and i did the restore, now i have two gallery! one is the ics one is the 2.3.6 how can i del the 2.3.6 gallery ?

SGS3 on Silent, still playing a sound?

This might seem like a silly question...
However:
On my S1, when I hit silent or vibration only, when an email arrives, the S1 doesn't make a noise (or vibrates) ie. the notification (like Haze) doesn't play.
yet on the S3, no matter what I do, be it on silent, vibration or what not, the sound STILL plays.
Am I becoming crazy or did samsung just overlook an important bug?
-Chris
Did you check all the volume levels?
(Hit the button on the right side when you turn up / down the volume),
I've noticed that (At least in TouchWiz), the media and notification volumes don't always get lowered when you put it on silent.
Also check "System Settings -> Sound" to see if there's anything that would indicate that it should play a sound while in silent mode.
Confirmed, put phone on silent. Started a video, there was sound.
This sucks.

Hit the settings button that pops on the screen on the right of the volume level shown when you press the volume buttons.. change your media and notification levels from there...

Okay, but if you put the phone on silent it should be SILENT

that's not the point of the button that you press for silent.
Or else what would be the point of the button, when i have to manually do it myself?
I'll log this and get back to you.
I don't know about you, but that seems normal, coming from ICS from SGS2 and iPhone, silent means alerts/notifications is off. But when you play Music or Youtube or Videos will play the sound, if you're actively trying to play media then it makes sense to play sound.
Android has always (except for a brief spell) had separate volumes for ringers, media and alarms

that is normal.
But when a SMS is received, on an s2, and you have it on SILENT what happens?
Does the notification sound still play?
As on the S1...and pretty much any phone dating back to the 3310, it remains SILENT
I've noticed this issue also. Silent mode doesn't mute the notification volume as it should. The temporary work around is to set volume manually, but it seems it is a bug in the Touchwiz UX framework.
I for one can't wait until I get either stock ICS or CM9 (maybe JB or CM10 soon if we're lucky, the source was recently released). These little issues are resolved very quickly in a community developed ROM (less than a week in most cases). There is usually a wait of months for OTA updates.
I just pray that AdamOutler can crack the verizon GS3 bootloader to allow easy customization. The International, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint users have unlocked/unsigned bootloaders.
Grab audio manager on google play
Then you set the mute profile for all the sounds you want (ringtone, notifications, player,...) and then you add the widget to your homescreen
When you want to mute, just "click" on the widget, got to the profile tab and then select your mute profile

What firmware would that be, out of curiosity? I'm running XXLFB based ROM and it's still not fixed, been driving me insane.
Not sure this helps if you've already got it fixed but I've been using RealSilent ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.geekherd.realsilent ) as recommended by Jerry over at AC. Pretty handy, but not sure how it works with the stock silent toggle in the notification pull down.
It does however work perfectly with CM9.

I'm on lfb, but on darkyrom v2.
I think lfb did it for me.

Isn't that app for the media volume, not notification?
I thought CM9 came with an option to link notification volume with ringer, so that notification on silent is no longer an issue purely because of that.
Maybe I will try a LG1 based ROM... can't believe Samsung overlooked something so basic.

After trying about 5 different apps including volume +, finally found a straightforward workaround, use the app called simple sound profile widget:
I can't post links yet since I'm under 10 posts, so search for it on Google play.
Really the issue is that Samsung unlinked notification and ringer, but left vibrate and silent toggle alone, so all it does is mute the ringer and not the notification. You'll notice on silent or vibrate, go to system volume and ringer volume still stays the same but shows a mute icon, while notifications volume does not. To fix this you need an app that, when toggling profiles, does not assume ringer and notifications are linked, and also TURNS DOWN VOLUME TO ZERO for both notification and ringer, as I don't believe mute for notifications is working. Simple sound does exactly that, the only thing missing is a true toggle widget since you have to click the widget then select a profile, but it fixed the notification issue properly so I'm not complaining.

Maybe your custom ROM fixed it, I'm on Omega 8.1 which is base on LFB, issue is still there.

cant turn off camera sounds

I have a Fujitsu f-02e. I know its not a common phone but maybe there's a general fix for this? Can't turn off camera sounds. It doesn't matter if I use the stock program or another downloaded program or even instagram the sound of the fake shutter plays at full blast. Can't remap the volume controls either. Any fixes? Not sure how to tell if my device was rooted before

Then something isn't right with your phone. Just took a picture on silent and no capture sound.
Could be to do with different laws in different countries regarding camera sounds however..
Mute system volume ...
I remembered that in the samsung S3 there was the camera_empty.ogg file that did not make any sound, so I've replaced all the files of the camera with this, and now the camera is silent, with the exception (don't know why yet) of the stop in video recording.
With the same file camera_empty.ogg I've created a ringtone called silent, so now I can have the phone with vibration only when a call is received (something I got with the GS3)

After doing a factory reset and replacing again all the camera sound files with the muted one, all operations are silent now :good:
