My android just got updated to Android Nougat.. and now, even after i put my phone to Silent / Do Not Disturb, I still hear that camera shutter sound
Any other ideas?

Then something isn't right with your phone. Just took a picture on silent and no capture sound.
Could be to do with different laws in different countries regarding camera sounds however..
Mute system volume ...
I remembered that in the samsung S3 there was the camera_empty.ogg file that did not make any sound, so I've replaced all the files of the camera with this, and now the camera is silent, with the exception (don't know why yet) of the stop in video recording.
With the same file camera_empty.ogg I've created a ringtone called silent, so now I can have the phone with vibration only when a call is received (something I got with the GS3)

After doing a factory reset and replacing again all the camera sound files with the muted one, all operations are silent now :good:

Hi everybody
After complete the ota update, I observed that when take a pic there is abnormal sound not like on the 1.83v.
Is there any idea about this issue?
Thank you
Not sure about the abnormal sound you hear.
All I got was the normal shutter sound. If you don't like it, you can go to the camera, then hit menu, and go to settings and uncheck Shutter tone.
Thank you Zero
Now even check or uncheck there is no sound
I don't no why???
It happens after GB update
I can't remember if it relys on your sound too? Did you try with your volume up or down to see if that made a difference?
Maybe try with ringer, media and alarm volume?
Just throwing ideas out there for ya
I am experiencing the same problem. After the GB upgrade the shutter sound changed. Is there a way to CHANGE the sound rather then disabling it? I am rooted.
**Bump**
Same here. I had sounds at one time, turned them off, and now can't get them back. Of course I've re-enabled the sounds, rebooted, battery removed etc. Shutter sound is gone :-(
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 rooted.
How can you remove (permanently and with active mode sounds)
the sound of a screenshot?
I know that the sound can be removed silencing the phone,
but I want the screenshot sound does not feel even when the sounds are active.
I tried "local_prop" and "camera_apk modded" methods
but the screenshot sound is always present.
Help me please.
In the sound settings, turn the system volume all the way down & leave it there. I leave my system volume muted and never hear the screenshot sound or camera shutter when taking pictures.

You should check the camera settings to see if you can turn it off. Otherwise you have to put it into silent mode.
ICS camera can be found in custom ROMS such as CM9 you can't just simply install the ICS camera apk.
Hope that helps.
That helps thanks, I had the same query.
thanks for the ics camera, but the problem for my shutter sound is i cant find any button to shut it in the settings and in slient mode it still has the shutter sound.

If you go to settings and volume --> Set 'Ringtone' volume all the way down.
It controls how loud your camera sounds.
It's supposed to go down automatically when you put it into silent mode.
it didnt work cus when i go to the settings, the ringtone volume is already the lowest, but the shutter sound is stil here
one more question, cus i used a back up, and i did the restore, now i have two gallery! one is the ics one is the 2.3.6 how can i del the 2.3.6 gallery ?
I tried renaming following sound files from /system/media/audio/ui
camera_click.ogg
camera_focus.ogg
VideoRecord.ogg
I could disable shutter/video-record sound.
But focus sound just before the shutter is not disabled.
If you can could you tell me how to disable it?
Regards,

For me the shutter sound toggle doubles as a focus sound toggle so when I disable shutter sound, the focus is also silenced. But in some countries mobile devices are not allowed to take pictures in complete silence because of privacy regulations, so the shutter sound at least remains. Does it still make the shutter sound if you put the tablet in silent mode?

Thank you for your reply.
Even if the silent mode, focus sound sounds.
I consider that the sound files is embedded in the camera apk like following device.

But this thread is for Samsung Galaxy Note 3,
I don't understand how to tweak for this tablet.
If the renaming method is not possible, you can use a workaround via the app "Tasker" (an invaluable tool anyway).
In Tasker you can make a profile that says "If the camera app is open, set device audio to 'Silent' (or 'Vibrate only')".

But he said that silent mode doesn't affect the fucos sound.
Can't be. When I put my tablet into silent mode via volume rocker (in the status bar the "vibration only" symbol appears), the camera remains absolutely silent.

Is your stock camera app also completely silent (no focus beep either) when the tablet volume is on, but shutter sound turned off in camera settings?
Yes, when I set shutter sound to "off" (seems to reset automatically to "on" when leaving camera app...) the camera is absolutely silent.

Well that option doesn't mute the focus sound for the OP, so that means he lives in one of those countries where mobile devices not allowed to photos silently (or he doesn't live in one of those countries but his tablet was made for use in them), so then indeed, putting the device in silent mode does not mute the camera.
I have the same problem, just traveling in Japan in a Japanese SIM card and i still have the focus sound after renamed the shutter ogg, anyone can fix this?
I have checked the camera settings and I cannot find the option to turn off the shutter sound.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have the T-mobile variant of the v10.

I haven't tried it on the V10 yet but I know with the G4 all you had to do was turn your ringer to vibrate. After doing that I never had a shutter sound.
Edit: Just tried it with the V10 and it works the same way. Turn your ringer down to vibrate and the camera shutter is silent.
Does anyone know how to silence it on the Korean version?
Does anyone know how to do it without turning the phone on vibrate? You should not have to turn your ringer down. That is a bunch of Bull!
