My phone often mutes itself during a call. It has done this on pretty much every rom I have tried. Does anyone else have this problem?
This is usually gingerbread experimental ROM issue, nexus one suffered a lot from it. I dont have this issue on my G2 but for nexus one or any other phone with such issue, there is an app called dewonkificator. It fixed it.
If u wanna try, send me your e mail address I'll send u the apk

The phone flips out when it mutes to. You try to turn the screen on so you can unmute and the phone just seizures. screen on/off/on/off.
What ROM r u using?

I am pretty sure it has happened to me on every rom I have tried.

What? Bro try Cyanogen mod ROMs, they r the most reliable.
If u don't wanna then use cyanogen mod then install dewonkificator.

cyanogen doesn't look great on the fascinate.
I'm using it, cyanogen mod 7 gingerbread 2. 3. 3. And its great, has everything. Cyanogen mod settings are pretty much a lot. So far its the best n most stable ROM maker available. Thus I'm having no such issue.
Anyway if u don't like it then try the software I suggested, may be it'll fix the issue on your ROMs which I'm hearing for the first time. I only know villain ROMs, cyanogen, king o rama n eVil .

want to send me that apk? I got a few off google, but they are bad packages.
Well my friend sent me the dewonkificator through gmail. I downloaded the 12kb apk n it worked fine.

Don'tknow if its the same issue but the same thing happens to my girl and my sister. After watching I found that they try holding the phone with their shoulder which moves it away from the sensor enough to kick the screen on then their chin hits the mute button. I experimented and if I do the same it happens to me too. As long as they hold the phone correctly it never happens.
Glad I am not the only one. IT generally happens when I am shouldering the phone.
I tried using bluetooth headsets, but my wife keeps cleaning and hiding them.
I've had the DNA since 11/21 and I'm surprised more people are not complaining about the phone freezing up and rebooting?
I saw the other post about DNA problems and he mentioned Chrome causing the problem. My DNS froze running Chrome as well so I uninstalled that but it still freezes up when I am in the Mail and Gmail application. It does not happen with a certain action in any application so I am not sure why it keeps freezing up and then rebooting.
I do not have a lot of apps but I am using UCCW, Simi Battery Widget, and Android Pro Widgets on my homescreens. Other than those widgets I pretty much only use the Internet browser, camera, phone, Play Music, and Facebook.
Is anyone else having the same problem with their DNS randomly freezing and rebooting?
I don't think it's a phone issue, but more of an app issue? Remember not all apps are truly compatible with this phone as of yet. Sure, you might be able to download the app you want, but it may not play nice with this new device. I say start fresh, do a factory reset, and add apps all over again. I tend to stay away from apps like UCCW, BW, and so on as I think those are not really ready for this phone. Of course I could be wrong though?
If the problem occurs after the factory reset, I say exchange it for a new one, and hope it's a good phone.
Good Luck!
I discovered the same thing yesterday but luckily I was able to duplicate back to Any.DO. So I just step carefully around the app where it works.
I am using Power Widget and Beautiful Widgets on my home screen with no issues so far.
I would take the previous posters recommendations.

I just thought it was weird because I really don't run that many apps and like minimal style homescreens. I had the Galaxy Nexus and used to run all different types of ROMs (CM10, AOKP, Jelly Belly, Paranoid Android, etc.) (4.1, 4.1.2, 4.2) and I never had an issue with that phone freezing up like the DNA.
No problem here

I have two DNA's, picked them up on 11/21. As of yet neither have had any issues, even the batteries have performed better than expected. I actually ditched the razr maxx hd. Maybe its a manufacturer issue, exchanging it shouldn't be an issue.

I saw the demo at the Verizon store randomly reboot for no apparent reason. This was early on the day it was released, and I don't think they had added any apps yet. I clenched my teeth and bought it anyway. So far, so good.

if you are rooted, you can delete system apps using titanium, root explorer, etc, etc.
Personally, if a brand new phone is having reboots after a hard reset, it would be getting exchanged.

Why did you ditch the RAZR?
I am considering the DNA or the Razr as my next unit.
i have been dealing w/the reboots and freezing now more and more each day. sucks i'm not sure wats causing this to happen.i'm rooted and still on stock jellybean..could it be a kernel or something cause this really didnt start to happend til i changed kernels.
the only i noticed is a few of my apps were not compatible. some apps will run until i select a certain action then fc. some apps start but then shut right down. these apps just arent for the dna yet its ok delete and repeat lol
99% chance Its your kernel. The guys are doing a great job with the new kernels, but only one has been truly stable. DSB's first kernel is the only stable one I am aware of (aside from stock). I am currently on his 1.2.5 and it seems stable, but not 100% sure just yet.

Theres a reason they pulled it from Google Play, hopefully when they relist the issue is fixed. I checked the log with alogcat and it was a graphics issue at a point where it loads Qualcomm specific stuff. But its not an issue just with the Touchpad, the same crash is shown on the Xperia S, a supported device with the same Adreno GPU as the Touchpad.

Possibly just a Snapdragon S3 bug then, if your device is the newer Evo 4G LTE which has an S4. There are videos of it working fine on S2 devices with ICS ROMs. (Xperia Play, HTC Desire S)
Just found a video of it crashing on the older S3 Evo 3D. I'm going to have to call this one an S3 bug since 3 different devices all have it and they all share S3/Adreno 220

same problem with the updated play store version. (1.01). crashes and restarts the touchpad whenever I start driving a car. on the newest cm10.
same problem when I was on the newest cm9 fat n creamy.
works fine on my nexus 4.
It appears the S3 bug still exists. From Google Play, some versions of the Galaxy Note have an S3 and there are multiple reviews like this. About all we can do is submit a request on the page in that review reply. Besides that Rockstar's reply is pretty useless, it wouldn't take them long to figure out this bug exists on all S3/Adreno 220 devices and it needs to be fixed by them. But since the Touchpad isn't supported, use a different S3 device like the Sony Xperia S which has an OEM ICS update and is a supported device.

the same here, amaze 4g snapdragon S3 / Adreno220 , the game crash when i drive a car/motorcycle u.u
Hoping you guys could give me some pointers to even figure out how to get the game to show available in the store, or to get the apk file to load. Found the APK and have the related data files to go with. When installed in the android/obb file folder, the game sits at the "black install" screen and goes noplace.
Tried changing the build.prop to different models and then accessing the Google store for purchase, but nothing I did worked. So either I was doing it wrong, or was missing something that needed to be changed.
Running CM9, but not entirely sure on the build number, as it's my brothers touch pad.
The game works awesome on my Asus TF300T.
Small up... I am very sad because I did not see this thread before so I was spamming Rockstar so they add touchpad on their compatibility list (I thought it was forgeted)
And in parrallele I tried to install it manually... and baaammm TP reboots after introduction video when I start to play... after reboot I try again and second hard reboot... then I find this thead ^^
So I hope Rockstar fix it soon (I am not sure they will).
In the mean time can you tell the settings you tried to get the game pretiest as possible but not laggy on our brave TP ?
I tried full distance with full resuloution and dynamics lights on. It's pretty but laggy so I don't know where to put the cursor to get the best experience ?

No go
Okay, so I did some testing.
Works fine on all play store versions (1.01, 1.02, 1.03) except for the vehicle bug, which causes the Touchpad to lock up and reboot.
I can get into a vehicle sometimes, but 9/10 times it locks up.
The 1.03 version has NOT fixed this bug for us
Keep pushing Rockstar for a fix!

Contemplating on buying the E970,
been comparing it with the Nexus 4 and the Xperia SP since they are the only phones I like in my budget. I'd like to know your opinion. I am impressed by the hardware of the phone, but I'd like to know a few things before I make the purchase.
Firstly, will I have issues with the network or any other feature using the AT&T unlocked version in India?
Also, is the notification LED on the E970 RGB?

Please for your own good, get the Nexus 4. Either that or live in the Nexus 4's shadow. If i could go back, I'd get the N4, you get pure and stable roms from Google and of course, you get updates faster
At this point in time, considering what the LGOG brings to the table vs the Nexus 4, I wouldn't buy a Nexus 4 but that's just me personally. Can't tolerate devices without expandable storage myself, so the microSD card slot on the LGOG just makes it a must-buy vs the Nexus 4, not to mention the addition of actual LTE support without jumping through hoops to get it working.
And considering even the Nexus 4 is now in a holding pattern of sorts to get the factory KitKat image, being a "Nexus device" isn't helping it be any better than the LGOG at all.

I don't get this idea of shadowing. If such way of thinking is correct, then every device is in nexus's shadow. I think the goal is to have a good working phone at the end of the day. This phone has a good variety of roms to help you get there: official supports of CM, Pacman, slim, all the unofficials and the very good stock rom. Also this uses sd card, nexus doesn't

Yep, made up 3 months ago. You should get rid of your OG if you got one so you don't have to be in the shadow
Dolby Audio really?
The sound on E970 SUCKS! I use a headphone amplifier but even with that the sound is crap. Dolby Audio really? I miss having a removable battery. Lastly, when the phone gets hot, there is a built in cap that limits the brightness of the screen. (Live in SoCal High Desert with summer temps of 110 F)
The quad core is fast and can handle quite a bit at one time. I listen to music while playing games, reading emails, cruzin' the Play Store and the internet all at the same time. Haven't had any crashes yet. There is plenty of storage internal storage. I have a lot of downloaded music and a few large games and have yet to roll over to the 16 GB external card.
Biggest disappointment is definitely the sound!!!!!!
Loving my LGOG. The sound is a bit weak. But everything else is great. I would recommend getting a best buy type warranty or a case for your phone. Gorilla glass is slippery like wet snot. I've had the back glass beak twice due to the phone sliding away and falling.
I'd buy it again.

i had HTC One VX with s-off practically since day one. there are very few custom roms for that model and only one aosp like which was cm10 but very early build. s-off is very easy, no need to do wire trick but i have done it to other older models like Vivid and Amaze.
i really missed stock android for months until i got my lg e970
Sorry, but would someone explain in brief what S-Off and S-On mean?
Also, I'm considering getting the Optimus G Pro instead because I find the looks more appealing and few extra pros over the E970. But the development there seems more or less stalled. Gotta risk it, I guess.

I'll try, others feel free to add upon this. Different manufacturers use different mechanism to secure their devices. With htc its "security-on", it restrict what hboot you may run on your devices. I had an htc evo v/ htc evo 3d, with security-on I could only run hboot 1.07.07.07 whatever which only allowed stock based ics roms. After achieving s-off I was able to put a different hboot on my phone , i had jbear 1.47.47.47 i think.. which in terms allowed me to run a lot more roms. S-on also restrict what you may flash. For example firmware and radios, here we call it modem? Don't know the difference, can't be flashed with s-on.

Well you can download some program like trickster's app and tune those settings, and as our fellow member above states, you should flash KitKat, i personally use CM11 nightly with a custom kernel and i keep the CPU slightly detuned and games still work pretty well, less heat and more battery. Best Regards!
Due to the nature of the design of this phone (ie, 90% of the surface area being covered in inherently heat-insulating glass), heat is kind of unavoidable.
You should see how how it gets playing San Andreas lol.
When I play Asphalt 8 , it doesn't heats up. Though , it's graphic intensive.
However , when I start NFS MW , it feels hot within 10mins of gameplay.
I think it depends on game to game...i.e. How the codes are using the resources.
