You can try going in s/w upgrade mode, there it'll tell u if bootloader's unlocked or not. If unlocked yes u can install a custom rom or else unlock it first.

It'd be best to have both.

i was unable to install drivers of fastboot in windows 8 gonna try my luck in xp sp2

Try installing the drivers properly. Win 8 supports fastboot. Make sure that you have the adb.

The device connects in adb as soon as you connect it to the computer. If it's not connecting then you need to go to the device manger and there you'll find "a warning symbol on your device". then you need to right click and update the driver sorftware to the suitable adb driver of your phone.
Once you're successful then your phone will show up as "ADB interface" in the device manager list.

Also make sure to enable USB debugging in Settings->Developer Options. ADB drivers will NOT install without USB Debugging enabled on the device.

[Q] [P] Connecting in fast boot, unlocking bootloader

Currently running JB with root and cwm. I've been trying to unlock my bootloader, but failing horribly.
I have Windows 8, and the main problem is that I can't boot into fast mode, windows doesn't recognize the USB unit and it immediately disconnects. I tried the fastboot win8 drivers guide on top of this forum, but I'm not sure if it worked due to phone disconnecting, starting, and generally acting like a *****.
What should I do? I'd really like to unlock my bootloader, but I don't even know if I have installed the fastboot drivers
Download the flashtool and install the provide driver and use fastboot package to unlock your bootloader !

Once you connect your phone via usb and while you are pressing volume up button, on windows go start-> right click on computer->devices manager. Now you should see your device. Right click and install drivers manually from the folder of the drivers you downloaded.
Notice that you have to be fast since and that maybe you will have to repeat this procedure several times since firsts times phone remains on fastboot for really few seconds.
You can also try another way. Download and install latest flashtool. After that go to Computer-> C:/-> Flashtool-> Drivers-> run Flashtool-drivers. Install the drivers for your device.

How did you try to enter flashmode?
Install all drivers from flashtool>drivers for all modes/devices. Then you take out the battery of your phone and reinsert it. Now press and hold volume down and connect the usb. Don't power the phone on, just press volume down and connect. The green led should light up and you are in flashmode
Then you can flash the stock rom using flashtool :good:

Try on another pc...
Or
Reinstall windows ...connect phone to windows and patiently wait for drivers to be installed using windows update service via internet...
After that put device in flash/green LED mode ,then patiently wait for flash mode drivers to be installed ...
Use flashtool or update service to go back to stock ROM
This is a windows issue so the thumb rule is "reboot windows, try on another windows, reinstall windows.."

[Q] Can't get into Fastboot!

Hello guys,
I know there's probably tons of theards, but I'm sure I read most of them and I'm still with a problem.
I'm trying to unlock my bootloader on my Xperia Go (ST27i) and I can't get into fastboot mode!
I've installed Android SDK, I've install the drivers from Flashtool, I still can't get it working.
What to you guys recommend me? Uninstall everything and install again (Will that even work?)
Thank you,

First the phone must be turned off and disconnected from the USB cable, then you press volume up and connect the USB cable while you holding it dwn.
Another way is to enabled USB debugging in developer options, connect the phone to the pc, then in flashtool click the flash icon, select fastboot, and in the window the comes up click reboot into fastboot (via adb).
Try both methids.

[Q] Xperia Ray doesn't show up on computer, how to unlock bootloader?

I apologize for making this thread again as I misunderstood my device name previously (I thought it's a Play but it's a Ray)

Is there any way for this device to unlock bootloader without connecting to the pc?

Is there a way to install ROM without connecting to the computer, only accessing fastboot?

I guess you should try reinstalling all drivers from flashtool for all devices, or try installing PC Companion or SEUS. If that's not working, open the windows device manager and uninstall/update the drivers for your phone when it's connected
