I'll appologise beforehand as i'm pretty sure this isn't where this post should go, but i csn't find a better place for it. Anyways I rooted my Motorola Motoluxe (XT615) and i've now started on removing all the yucky, yucky bloatware. So i've came across an app labelled "Terms of Service" (com.motorola.setup.tos) and i was wondering if anyone knows if it is safe to remove?

Probably no.
I've just removed it on a rooted Defy Mini and now I'm stuck in an endless loop of "died unexpectedly [force close]" dialogs
I have the .apk backed up and will manage to restore it - which would be easier if I had some free storage...

Update: the dialogs started popping up during an attempt to remove it using Root Uninstaller.
It seems it didn't complete the uninstall - the dialogs disappeared after I did in adb shell:
Code:
$ su
# pm uninstall com.motorola.setup.tos
Success
Now the phone seems to work ok (including after reboot).
In other words, you might try it but make sure USB debugging is on, and back up the app...

how do I put a launcher into system apps? Just drag and drop somewhere?
Move the app to /system/Apps then change the permissions to rw-r--r--

I feel like an idiot for asking this but, under what directory is my launcher located? lol
If u downloaded one from market it should be under /data/app
Then just find the apk. Mine was golauncher that I moved. It had a different name for the apk but was similar. Had go launcher in the name.

Just do NOT freeze or remove you current launcher(for example blur home) until u know your new launcher is working right as u could get stuck.
I'm using es file explorer and when i navigate to "/data" the folder is empty.
Could some explain the purpose of moving an add-on launcher to " /system/Apps "?
Or what is the Op trying to do?
Thanks
BTW Do not freeze the stock Home app as you will never be able to boot to safe mode and avoid an SBF when you could have uninstalled a bad program instead.

Are u rooted?
Is there an option in es file menu settings to browse as root?
I use root explorer for ALL my file management needs. It is worth the money spent to have it FOREVER
And i moved itI to system because I have my blue home sitting on my sd card so it don't run.
So if I do a user data wipe it doesn't delete it ....at least it hasn't deleted it yet...it tricks the phone to think it is a true system app. U only lose it when flashing a new rom or something that delete ir overwrite your /system
And im on eclipse remix. It seems that ALL my system apps have owners root and root.
So I dunno if changing to that helps anything but I did that along with permission changes.
Safe mode boot:
Phone off.
Hold menu (left most) key while pwr'ing on and keep on the menu key until long vibrate or lock screen.
Save yourself from at worst, reflashing your rom, leave your stock home app alone.
So what is the purpose of moving the launcher?

Hello.I'm an lg l9 user which worked perfectly for like 3 months. After that i gave it 2 weeks to a friend and now when he gave it to me back it's very anoying. It's not smooth anymore, it has many moments when for a second it's not responding.I used reset to factory settings with no luck. Also i've installed Clean Master and everytime the RAM memory is over 85% used. It's running on 4.1.2 with baseband 01.1230.00. Any advices?
If you're rooted get greenify and autorun manager. I keep my device running smooth. Also check to see which apps are running. Might be something that once removed will fix it up.
Another option is to do a full backup then do a factory reset and reformat your external SD card.
Good luck

[Q] "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" message after loading modded setting APK
I tried to black out some things per this guide:
www [dot] gs5 [dot] wonderhowto [dot] com/how-to/black-out-system-apps-your-samsung-galaxy-s5-for-better-battery-life-0156502/
It involves replacing some original apk's with some modded black themed ones. I was stupid and didn't back up any of the original apk's. It was all for nothing as nothing got blacked out and the original apk's stuck, however, I can no longer access my settings. I get the "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." message every time I attempt to open the setting menu.
What should I do to fix this? I looked for the original SecSettings.apk for our phone to try and reverse what I had done and I could not find it online. Would this fix the problem? If so where can I find this? If not, what can I do?
Help would be greatly appreciated.

I assume you are rooted since you modified some apk's, without knowing which ones you changed and since you didn't save them to just put them back, you may want to run a nandroid assuming you have one and then just rename the apk's you want to change to .bak and then try again.

Only the Settings one got messed up and won't open. I didn't backup. I'm pretty much just looking for SecSettings.apk for T-Mo GS5 at this point. I can't think of another solution.

You you can download the stock tar for the version you are on and then unzip it and pull the apk from there and replace yours.

Download root Explorer, easiest one to use, goto where you changed the apk, long press on the apk you changed and set the permission to the same as all the others, look at the permissions of one you didn't mess with first and then set the permissions. The reboot. If you are not rooted, root Explorer will not work for you...

And I would highly recommend before you screw with your phone anymore, subscribe to the T-Mobile forums and read read read, you don't want to screw your phone up, and if you still don't get it, ask people, there are plenty of people here willing to help but many will blast you for not doing a little research yourself. And avoid websites for phone hacks and stuff, stick to the forum, these are well tested and experienced devs that build for us, appreciate all they do.

Your post didn't give us a lot of detail about how you went about the changes, which makes it difficult to provide targeted help. But probably if you wipe the cache from recovery mode, then go to the application manager in the settings menu and clear the cache and data for the system app in question, it will more than likely resolve the error message.
In the alternative, download the full stock firmware and extract the stock .apk so that you can revert to a stable system. And remember to make a backup next time.
Also, there are literally hundreds of threads on this subject, so I can only presume that you didn't bother searching before posting. A search should always be your first step since existing threads invariably have a wealth of information and in the majority of cases give you an immediate answer.
Good luck

Hello everyone.
I have an LG V30 US998 (former H931) and want to remove included system apps, such as google movies and tv, google music, chrome, facebook, and other apps which I use, but I always prefer to not have them as system apps. I'm rooted, and have used "System App Safe Remover" (used to be called root uninstaller) to remove this kind of apps for many years, on many different phones, and did mot need to be in a custom rom for this. Issue is, no matter how much I insist, apps are confirmed removed, but even if I reboot (app already has root granted) the apps are still there!
Does the LG V30 have some sort of encryption or something? I also tried batch uninstaller, same results. Tried going into the root system partition using FX Explorer root, and I am not able to delete any app (permission denied, even though I'm root and have granted access to fx).
Any tips? Do I have to use adb debloat (never used before)? What could be the reason? I have "force encrypt" in Magisk set to "off" if that helps. I also flashed the "disable dm verify" and "AK3 rctd" files (don't remember if this was in frankenstein thread or oreo root/unlock thread).
TLDR: How can I remove system apps from LG V30 stock Oreo (Yes, I'm aware of the risks)?

The risks are you will increase lag significantly and/or break functionality. Not like the old Android days where every apps (package) is in totally separate silo. Remove and it's gone. Now the software is all tied together. The phone will pause will looking for something before moving on.
You are NOT saving any USER space by removing SYSTEM apps. This is not something you can re-claim.
Similarly, if you use Chrome, what's wrong with having it as a system app? That's MORE space over on the user side for other stuff.
Simply FREEZE the system apps you don't wish to use with Titanium Backup. They will not run, will not be seen, but doing that will not create lag because you shot a hole in the LG firmware web.

If you remove something you didn't know the system needs, then you have to reinstall your firmware to fix the issue. FREEZING disables the app, and if you find you DO need it after all, you can easily unfreeze it.

Oh ok, thanks for the reply. Last phone I used also had Oreo, but same as LG V30, it wasn't the original OS, it got updated to it, I could still remove those apps. To me it was mostly the forced google apps, but if they really don't affect anything, then I guess I'll leave them there. Thanks.

There is a Magisk Module for it "Debloater" download that along with terminal
And in Terminal app
Command
su (it will prompt for root access)
Debloat (you'll get list of system apps you can remove)
You can select by entering number
Before doing so always backup your data and do it at your own risk ,you can disable the app if not remove that works for me

Honestly I used to debloat way before Oreo often deleted apk's myself from system/app being lazy maybe Debloater removes an app properly but yes he's right even if you explore apps in system or data folder they are in folders now
If you are backed up and have the kdz thn give it a try I did saw someone using Debloater on Oreo/Pie though

But "way before Oreo" means probably on another phone?
There was two or three "debloater" threads going at one point, and people then kept asking in OTHER threads
"Why does AOD no longer work?"
"Why did my VoLTE stop working?"
"Why is my V30 so slow?"
MY V30 isn't slow. MY AOD works.
The common element it turned out was they all were debloating stuff just prior to these issues.
People just now getting this phone don't understand the modern firmware. Nothing is labeled "safe" and "dangerous" to remove. Everything is connected. If it's a system app, just freeze it.
Yes as I mentioned it was on previous versions of Android using explorer method The Debloater thing I came across among top Magisk module list which I had to look up for myself as in other thread I did ask for Magisk and Xposed compatible with V30 didn't get any response
Personally I don't think Removing Chrome or similar app could mess up entire system , one could give it a try in step by step manner
I am not aware if those other users removed some essential LG apps from system because even back in older days debloating if not done properly would often end up with system stopped working boot loop etc
